Why locals recommend it

This is a low-key tapas sort of place—a wine bar with little bites, which makes for easy ordering when it’s late. I love the steamed bao buns. Roast pork, pickle, a little hoisin sauce. A perfect late-night bite.

This Arts District favorite continues its reign as one of the most talked-about beef-and-bun options anywhere in Los Angeles. Former Mozza lead Matt Molina has turned up the seemingly simple burger to 11, showing that it’s not always about stacking ingredients. A simple seared patty on a plush bun, for a kind of ideal take on the McDonald’s cheeseburger.

It's a little over a mile walk through the Arts District - DON'T walk south to 5th Street and over, walk UP to 4th then down Santa Fe to Mateo - place has great nightly events, wine programs, excellent food, and comfy leather booths in the bar, as well as a HUGE back patio/yard with a bocce ball area and heatlamps. Feels like you're at your friends house. Or drive, they have a parking lot.
