Kids and history buffs love this place. You go underground with miners hats on and learn about the areas history from amusing and knowledgeable guides. The highlight is catching a small coal car train back up to the surface.
the state coal mine operated till 1968 - many migrants came to the area to mine coal - a wonder history of the area and the people who came to the area.. it is run by local volunteers
free entry to the grounds, visit local historic buildings and learn the life of a coal mine! cafe on the grounds for a snack!
The State Coal Mine is one of Victoria's newest attractions and the only historic coal mine experience in the Southern Hemisphere.
