Bacalar, MX is located about 250KM south of Akumal in the southern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is about a 3 hour drive that takes you through a part of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. Make sure to have a full tank of gas before you set off on our adventure as there are not many places to stop along the way.

I think Bacalar looks like the most beautiful place on earth. There is a lagoon there with the prettiest water I've ever seen. I'm Alex's wife (helping to write this guide) and I have never been to Bacalar but this is on my list for a fun day trip. It's a little bit far away (3 hours or so, I think), but I can't wait to see this magical town one day.

Bacalar, 15 km north, is a delightful, community with many fun restaurants that attract international healers and adventurers.

If you are planning a long stay (like 2 weeks) i fully recommend you 2 days to visit Bacalar. Its a bit far from Playa del Carmen (Like 4 hours by car) But absolutely worth it

Visit the Lagoon of many blues:) This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots I have seen!
