Located near the base of Mt. Evans, one of Colorado's highest peaks (fourteener). There is a visitors center, gift shop, and a cafe known for its mouthwatering cinnamon rolls. There are a few trails around the lake to hike, and some picnic tables to enjoy lunch and take in the beautiful views!
A fun area to explore with beautiful views. In the summer you can take the road past echo lake all the way to the top of a 14,000 foot mountain, Mt. Evans. Its a beautiful drive often full of mountain goats and other animals.
Very scenic drive to the start of the Mount Evans Autoroad. There is an easy hiking loop around the lake with access to some of Colorado's tallest mountains. Hiking access may only be possible in late summer and early fall due to a deep snowpack left over from winter.
On your way up to Mount Evans be sure to stop at Echo Lake for a gorgeous picnic spot! Bring a warm layer and closed-toed shoes since there will likely be snow there even if it's the middle of the summer.
