super day trip about 40 min drive. pick up mask and snorkle at the dollar store. great springs. it's about 11$ per person.

Salt Springs Recreation Area is one the recreational jewels of the Ocala National Forest, with a spectacular natural mineral spring that gives the area its name. Plenty of outdoor activities keep campers and day-use visitors busy, including swimming in the springs, fishing, snorkeling, hiking and boating.

You can get here by boat or by car. This place is a favorite of little crabs and big manatees. Bring an inflatable tube so the little ones can explore the head spring without getting exhausted swimming against the current.
