Why locals recommend it

When Eagle Rock Brewery opened in 2009, it was the first new microbrewery for Los Angeles since the 1950s. It's off the beaten path, so only those in the know tend to find it. It’s a beer industry hangout—like Cheers, but for home brewers! The best-known beers are Solidarity Black Mild, Manifesto Wit Bier, and Populist IPA. But don’t miss the one-off brews you find on tap, things they’re just playing around with that you won’t see in stores. I recently had a terrific Vienna-style lager, which is darker and maltier than usual.

ERB's a microbrewery devoted to helping people learn about the nuances of beer, started by a dude who used to work as a movie music editor and his father, both of who moved to LA from upstate NY.
