Tucked up in the rainforest of Cairns, Kuranda is a beautiful little village for a days excursion. You can reach Kuranda by road with an easy 30 minute drive up the range. Alternatively, you can take the very scenic Kuranda train from the centre of Cairns, or travel up on the Skyrail Cable Car for fantastic views across the Cairns waterfront. You will an abundance of activities in Kuranda from their historic local markets, the Australian butterfly sanctuary, Birdworld with a fantastic array of native Australian birds, and also the Koala Gardens where you can cuddle a Koala and hand feed wallabies. This is certainly a must do when visiting Cairns.

Take the Scenic Railway to Kuranda and walk around the little markets there for some lunch. Check out the Barron gorge and take the Sky Rail with a glass bottom over the rainforest!
