Jongmyo is a Confucian shrine dedicated to the perpetuation of memorial services for the deceased kings and queens of the Korean Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897). It was one of the important King's duties to hold ceremonies for the deceased ancestors. It's been praised by many architects such as Frank Gehry for having the simplistic beauty of a structure with such scale.
