Ramen Izakaya Goku

Why locals recommend it

It’s a small restaurant, with about four tables in front and a small bar where you can see the chefs. It gets steamy and smoky in there with all the ramen they’re making all day long. I like their Kakuni Tonkotsu Ramen. It has a very rich ramen broth, and they put a gigantic chunk of pork belly in there. They have a full izakaya menu. There are grilled dishes like squid, and they have really good takoyaki—a sort of savory doughnut. They put kabayaki sauce on top and add bonito shavings, which wave around in the heat so it looks like the bonito is dancing as you’re about to eat it.

Great ramen (vegetarian options available). I recommend the fried burdock root as an appetizer

Best ramen in the neighborhood. I love the Kakuni Tonkotsu but most all is good. A bit salty for some.
