Our local shrine just a 2 minute walk from Jam Jar. Well worth a visit. The shrine was first built in 947 to appease the angry spirit of bureaucrat, scholar and poet Sugawara no Michizane, who had been exiled as a result of political maneuvers of his enemies in the Fujiwara clan. Famous for being the original shrine for knowledge and calligraphy. Hosts an amazing flea market on the 25th of every month. Also has over 1,000 plum trees which bloom in March. Closes around 6:00pm. Free to enter.
