Tips from locals
Hiking trails with spectacular views on the west side. The Orcas Island community and the San Juan Preservation Trust raised $20 million to save this 1700 acre parcel from development. Turtleback Mountain Preserve was created in 2006. We still have our Save Turtleback hat!
One of my favorite places to hike! North End is off Crow Valley Road next to the historic school house. The South End is off Wildrose --Info in the room
This is one of the largest undeveloped properties in the county. Sheltering a variety of special habitats and species, the hiking preserve is ecologically significant as well as beautiful.
