A wonderful historical place from the the Roman times. The ruins shed so much light on the Roman occupation of the area. Settled up the hill in the woods. Great place to spend a few hours away from the "Modern" world.

Fortified settlement proto-history consisting of three lines of walls, denoting various stages of construction. It was occupied in the Chalcolithic, in the 3rd century BC; then, continuously, from the 5th century BC to the 5th century\/VI century ad; and later, from the 12th century to the 14th century, when it was built a small castle. Along with Neiva castle, this fort hill played a major role in the social and political development of this region. Apart from its heritage interest, it is also a wonderful viewpoint of the region, offering a view over Cávado river and the coastline plain.
