Very active and safe downtown with a variety of stores, restaurants, Cable Cars and entertaining street vendors. Union Square is a nice place to sit and pause, even people watch.

This unsung hero has beautiful buildings including City Hall and the Opera House. The Asian Museum and library are so nice too (right in the plaza area). I love seeing people doing Tai Chi in the plaza in the morning. Within walking distance of trendy Hayes District with many wonderful eateries and shops.

Very gorgeous building, especially beautiful lighting at nights. Dawn visit would be good for both daylight and after sunset.
