North of Filopappou Hill, this hill was the official meeting place of the Democratic Assembly in the 5th century BC – really, the first site of democracy.

The Athenians gathered on the Pnyx to host their popular assemblies, thus making the hill one of the earliest and most important sites in the creation of democracy

A historic site where democracy was born. Also the view is amazing.

Pnyx Hill which is next to Filopapou is considered the birthplace of Democracy because this is where the Athenians gathered to debate and govern the state of Athens. More generally, the hill is less visited than other central sites and a peaceful place to walk. This is a public park and there is no fee to visit.
