Jenners Department Store, now known simply as Jenners, is a department store located in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was the oldest independent department store in Scotland until its acquisition by House of Fraser in 2005. Founded in 1838, with designer clothing and beauty items, plus a food hall.
Open since 1838, this has to be Edinburgh's most famous store. Originally selling linens, it's now a huge department store and has something for everyone.
Jenners is the oldest department store in Edinburgh and has some great fashion!
SHOPPING: This is the worlds oldest department store. I had my first proper job here in the 90's, shortly before it was bought over by the Frasers group. It lacks the charm that it used to with many of the oak lined walls removed but it's still a must see, especially at Christmas when a Norwegian tree is brought in and installed in the grand hall. Sit in the 1st floor cafe overlooking Princes street and the Scott Monument for a slightly overpriced lunch or in the Valvona and Crolla Caffe with a polenta cake and cappuccino. It has childrens wear, men's, women's, homeward, glassware, toiletries, perfumery and a great toy basement.
