You cannot miss the iconic Mindil Beach markets which operate in the dry season! Make sure to be there for the sunset ritual – where else in the world do people gather on the beach and applaud as the red sun falls into the glittering ocean?! My favourite food treats are the Indonesian rendang and choc-coated frozen mango. I love the colour and sound of these markets: didgeridoos, local music talent, firedancers, sarongs, lanterns – and then the stars coming out as I sit on the beach with my feet in the soft warm sand eating my fragrant curry. One of my first memories of Darwin was at this place and the magic continues!
