Take advantage of the newly renovated playgrounds, walking trails and track on the same street as the Compass Garden home.

Chavis Park is a nearly 30-acre public park just outside of downtown. Known for the Chavis Park Carousel, the park is named after John Chavis, a free Black educator, Presbyterian minister, and American Revolutionary War veteran. It includes a playground, tennis courts, pool and other recreational space.
