Located in a modern, purpose built extension to the beautifully restored Lews Castle, the Museum nan Eilean opened on 14 July 2016. It's thoughtfully laid out with wonderful, interactive exhibits to enjoy in a glorious setting. Britain’s most north westerly local authority museum & archive service, it covers the islands of the Outer Hebrides from Barra in the South to Lewis in the North. @MuseumnanEilean

Located within Lews Castle (the Victorian-era castle which overlooks Stornoway), the recently opened Museum nan Eilean provides a good overview of the history of the Outer Hebrides, which also includes interactive exhibits for children. Perfect for rainy days, there is also a cafe (which is open on Sundays), and the grounds of Lews Castle offer some lovely walks.
