「白髭神社」は滋賀県北西部の高島市にある、日本最大の湖・琵琶湖に面した神社です。創建はなんと１９００年前。第１１代天皇の垂仁天皇の頃で、近江最古の神社とされています。また、全国にある白髭神社の総本社ともされています。 シンボル的存在でもある、琵琶湖に浮かぶ朱塗りの大鳥居の景色に惹かれ、昔から多くの人が訪れる白髭神社。琵琶湖に浮かぶ沖島を背景に佇む鳥居は本当に厳島神社と見間違うような、実に絵になる風景です！ 昼間の景色も素晴らしいのですが、夕刻頃の光景がまた格別です。ぜひ、いろんな時間帯で湖上の鳥居を眺めてみて下さい！なお土日は日没から約２時間、湖上の鳥居がライトアップされています。大晦日など、特別に長時間に及ぶライトアップがされる時もありますよ！
