Architecturally unusual structure built as a studio & performance space for Lou Harrison, a major American composer of the twentieth century was also a talented musician, instrument builder, humanitarian and visionary. The Harrison Home is a vaulted straw bale "composer's cave." It was completed in 2002 on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park. The design integrates material, form, acoustics and traditional Egyptian architecture.
