The Kranskloof Nature Reserve, situated in Kloof near Durban, is a 530 hectare reserve covered by dense indigenous forest and vegetation. Eestablished in 1950 by the Natal Parks Board, the reserve is located at the meeting place of two river gorges, the Nqutua and Moweni. The reserve boasts a plethora of animal and plant species, and is managed by Ezemvelo Kwa-Zulu Natal Wildlife. Kranskloof Nature Reserve has a very popular and well developed picnic area, which overlooks the dam at the head of Kloof Falls. The educational 'Interpretive Centre' is another exciting feature that is easily accessible along the Kloof Falls road. The reserve also offers a number of epic view sites, particularly those along Bridle Road. Wildlife you can expect to see include blue duiker, bushbuck, common duiker, mongoose, caracal, water monitor, Cape genet, and dassies. Birds include Crowned eagles, Broadbill, Grey cuckooshrike, Narina trogan, Emerald cuckoo, Wood-owl, Yellow-throated warbler, Spotted ground-thrush, and a whole lot more.
