Inaugurated on October 24, 1885, the Glória funicular goes up and down 275 meters, with a slope of about 18%, between Restauradores Square downtown and Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara in Bairro Alto.

One of the old trams to take people up and down hill. Don't have to pay, just be bold and walk up or down the hill alopngside the tram :)

The Glória Funicular was opened to the public on October 24, 1885. At first it was designed as a water-powered system, then in 1886 it was replaced by a steam-power one.
