Built between 1953 and 1958 for Yale University, the Ingalls hockey rick was designed by the esteemed modern architect Eero Saarinen. Commonly referred to as The Whale, due to its caternary arch form which employs a 90-meter reinforced concrete center spine. Named for David S. Ingalls, Yale class of 1920, and David S. Ingalls, Jr., Yale class of 1956, both of whom were hockey captains. The building was included on the America's Favorite Architecture list, created in 2007 by the American Institute of Architects.

Intriguing architecture, great hockey, and the best food carts in New Haven! I recommend Ali Baba's Lemon Chicken and the Kati Rolls. If you're lucky, you'll run into the Cannoli or Cupcake truck!

locally referred to as "the whale." tons of food trucks set up in the parking lot during weekday lunch - get a ton of delicious, eclectic food for an average of $6.
