Beautiful and interesting museum about Norwegian natural history and one of the biggest Whale skeletons in Europe.
The University Museum in Bergen, originally Bergen's Museum, consists of the Cultural History Collections, the Section for External Cultural Heritage, the Natural History Collections with the Museum Garden, and the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Milde. The museum was an important part of the foundation for the establishment of the University of Bergen in 1946, and is now an integral part of the university. There are large museum collections in cultural and natural history gathered at the institution. Multidisciplinary research and dissemination has always had a high priority. As a regional museum in Western Norway, the Bergen Museum will function as a regional competence and dissemination center for other museums, the school system, the political environment, business and the public. In 2021, the museum was named "Museum of the Year".
