Vacation rentals in The Plains

We loved our stay! The cottage is beautifully decorated and clean. It’s a wonderful place to relax and is walkable to downtown Marshall. It’s also an easy drive to The Plains, Middleburg and other great spots.

James was very responsive and amenable. The cabin was beautiful and the perfect getaway. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a peaceful place to enjoy your vacation.

This was such a perfect place to relax and immerse ourselves in the peacefulness of the surroundings. The cabin is as described and very cozy. The furnace quickly warms up the bedrooms and living room and for the kitchen area, which can get a little drafty, there’s a fantastic built-in space heater that is amazing. We also appreciated the heated floors in the bathroom, such a nice touch. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the sheets were the softest I’ve come across. Get up early and you’ll see the sun rising across the meadow, an experience made even more enjoyable by the spacious front porch, rocking chairs, and friendly barn cats that compete for your lap in the warmth of the sun. The hosts were easy to reach when needed and proactively communicative prior to arrival, which was much appreciated. We’re happy this is only an hour away from us because we definitely look forward to staying again to experience the beauty and surroundings in the springtime.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cottage! It's beautiful and updated, with plenty of outdoor space. Kitchen is large and comfortable, lots of natural light. Walking distance from a delicious cafe, Dippin Rabbit and then driving distance to Middleburg (we came for the Christmas parade). Would love to come back in the summer too, it was too cold to explore the backyard for very long. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Don’t have enough words to explain the time we had!! Was my wedding week and this place was close to our venue and had my closest friends visit from Belize and we LOOOVEED it!! I was almost in tears when we left! Martha was super responsive, very accommodating and so thoughtful, she gave us wine to celebrate and flowers! The house is super equipped, had everything we needed and more! We will definitely be back for our one year anniversary! Thank you again Martha!

The Grove was spacious and comfortable, with lots of character for our large extended family to come together. Highlights included the large dining table and living room with enough seating for the whole family to be together at the same time, basement game room and loft to keep the kids occupied, and back patio and fire pit not pictured in listing. Extra bed was also a pleasant surprise that was utilized. We loved that it’s an older house with original stone walls and wood beams but upgraded kitchen and bathrooms throughout. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean enough but the rest of the house could use some maintenance and a deep clean. Smart TVs are older models with excellent picture that got Netflix and Amazon Prime but not compatible with YouTube TV or Hulu for us to watch live TV for parade or football games so we resolved ourselves by purchasing a Roku stick at a nearby Walmart. Food Lion was convenient for last minute food prep runs. All said, overall a great experience.

Joni was very responsive to messaging and from the first response made me believe we had made the right choice. We were visiting for a wedding at a nearby winery and the cottage was ideally located just 10 minutes up the back road. The cottage itself was a dream. Loved it and wished we could have spent more time on property.

We had a wonderful stay. We know the area pretty well, but Elizabeth added some local information that was very helpful. The property was very welcoming - it's beautifully maintained and clean, we had everything we needed in the kitchen and for getting some work done, and the cottage was nicely decorated and comfy. We felt right at home and would love to stay at Elizabeth's again.
