Perched on the side of a sand dune one row back from Te Horo Beach on the Kapiti Coast, this wonderfully light, warm and architect-designed bach is a modern & stylish seaside retreat only 50 minutes' drive from New Zealand's capital city Wellington.
“The perfect vacation home for the environmentally conscious holiday-goer. If you are concerned about your carbon footprint as a traveler, then you can rest easily at the Te Horo Bach. There’s a rainwater cistern that supplies water to the bach (which may be limited), biodegradable trash bags, eco-friendly soaps, locally grown fruit, recycling bins and more. Even in the summer months, air conditioning isn’t really needed, as you can let the ocean breeze through by opening the windows and doors. Just be aware that little critters may come in too! In addition to the aforementioned fruit, pastries and cereal are also provided, but bring bottled water to drink. There’s a sizable fridge, toaster, microwave, stove and oven on premise too, along with dishware and utensils. There’s no wi-fi, but cell reception is pretty decent. Bed is comfortable and bed linens feel very high end. Big windows and high ceilings make this small home feel very sizable. The beach is just a two-minute walk away and — at least for us — was relatively unpopulated. The owner, Adrienne, is very kind and gave us a full house tour upon arrival and made some recommendations for nearby food and activities.”
Seasalt is a contemporary private one bed studio apartment with kitchenette, lounge area and spacious bathroom, offering a quiet retreat in a rural location - but close to the beach and with some of the best views in the region. Hosts Julie and Paul run their small farm and the exclusive Seasalt Apartment as a place where guests can come to escape and take time out, or enjoy a break close to a number of Kapiti Coast wedding venues as well as the many local activities on offer.
“If I could give a 10 (or even 20) star rating, I would do so in a heartbeat. Julie and Paul’s place is a gem. And they are just the loveliest people we have ever met! Happy to have spent a little time with them during our stay :) Absolutely adored every bit of their farm and their housemates — the cutest beagles Sam and Oscar, and of course all the alpacas! Really loved the thoughtful touches to the room — the breakfast, coffee, cookies, chocolates, etc. and just everything about it! We had the pleasure of joining the alpaca experience (which was just the cherry on top) where they gave us a tour of their farm, introduced us to all the animals and had us try Julie’s amazing baked goods. The alpaca shaped shortbread cookies and chocolate chip cookies are to die for! Really gutted we only booked 1 night. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend their place! Nothing compares to it and to them. You will not regret staying there :)”
Our self-contained studio is situated away from the main house and is ideal for a couple, solo adventurers, and business travellers. We provide a comfy bed and continental breakfast. The studio has beautiful views across farmlands to the Tararua Mountain Ranges and sea views the other side. A 10min stroll takes you to our picturesque beach, via scenic walkways. Peka Peka Beach is great for swimming, walking, or just sitting and relaxing. There are masses of tracks and trails accessible from here and within the Kapiti area, for biking and walking or tramping. A trip to Kapiti Island from Paraparaumu, is a must for nature lovers. For those wanting a more relaxed stay, there are really good cafes and restaurants nearby. Harrison's Garden Cafe in Peka Peka, is great and there is a good variety of eateries at Waikanae Beach. The Shoreline Cinema in Waikanae Township, 5 mins drive away, also for coffee and cake, or well selected wines.
“This was such a little gem for a weekend get away! Breath taking views of country side to the beach. The studio had everything you needed including a great breakfast, we were extra lucky to get freshly baked scones too. Lorraine’s communication was exceptional. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back again. Highly recommend to anyone.”
