Beach house vacation rentals in Southend-on-Sea

Visited Whitstable for a long weekend with our two kids. The cottage is in a great location, only a few minutes walk from the beach. Check in was easy with a lock box and the cottage was charming. Some had commented that the stairs were steep which they are, but fine for us and our kids (5 and 8 years old). Would happily come back again and would recommend.

Jason’s place was wonderful for our little family and super close to old town and new town. Sara’s was great for brunch Sunday morning and the Library playground and library were great for my little one on Saturday.

Slip Cottage is a charming, spacious, comfortable, well equipped cottage located in a peaceful lane in Whistable. We especially loved the comfortable bed and quality linen. The private carpark at the front door is most certainly a plus! Steve is a fantastic host, easy to communicate with and was most kind when my husband unexpectedly had to go to hospital. A big thank you Steve ... your kindness is truly appreciated.

What an amazing stay from start to finish. We was wowed as soon as we walked in to how lovely the house was. So spacious and a lovely garden area which is a perfect sun trap when the sun is out. The open plan kitchen/living area made it a great space for us to socialise with our friends and the bedrooms were very well done. A great location- we walked to whitstable and was a pleasant walk and some lovely little places in tankerton high street too which is literally round the corner. We even had an early morning swim and just as the beach was right on the doorstep. We would love to book again and would highly recommend. Debra was also very helpful and checked in over text asking if everything was ok including room temperatures etc. A great host

Beautiful house in a beautiful location, dinner on the balcony at sunset was amazing. The house was pristine, very clean with everything we could possibly need available. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in Leigh and will definitely book again in the future.

From the moment I booked, everything was incredibly smooth and welcoming. The feeling of comfort hit as soon as we stepped into the house — we instantly knew we’d be coming back. Katrina made us feel completely at home, and honestly, words can’t do the experience justice — you just have to feel it for yourself. Every single one of us absolutely LOVED the house. This was our second visit to the Lighthouse and it still is an amazing place, from the panoramic sea views to a lovely warm inviting home. A dip in the pool before breakfast, sitting with a coffee watching the seascape, as far as Essex and beyond, sunsets and so much more. I will make the same comment as I did last, this goes for the whole of our party across 3 generations and the dogs, the only bad thing about the Lighthouse is having to leave. Hopefully this will not be our last visit.

we had a lovely stay at Rosemary's Retreat. Very comfortable and quiet, away from main road. There was plenty of tea and coffee, including a coffee machine with Tassino pods. Rosemary was very welcoming, a first class host. we would definitely stay here again

We had to go out again to buy things like a sponge and dishwasher detergent, but Aldi and Tesco were nearby, so it wasn’t a big problem. The caravan was in very good condition, especially considering the price. The manager was very kind and explained everything clearly when we had questions. Our whole family really liked it.

We had a nice stay, cosy ambience, well maintained..neat and clean in and out... Loved the vintage retro props ! Had difficulty spotting the caravan as details of checkin were received after check in time. Thankfully receptionist helped us.

Very comfortable, well equipped caravan. Travel cot easy to put in largest bedroom. Good amenities, bonus of small bath ideal for babies. Lovely decking area which catches the sun and clear easy instructions for access. Will be booking again!

Stayed here with 10 guys. There is ample room to sit together to have dinner, a large enough lounge for everyone to relax and all spaced that require less clothing is very private and not overlooked. The upper balcony is shared with a bedroom from 16A, but I assume that is not in use when the place is booked. Driveway is shared with adjacent property but you can still fit 4 cars. Hot tubs extremely well maintained. Furniture is in excellent condition. Furnishings are modern and tasteful. All kitchen appliances work with ample crockery and cutlery. Beds are very comfortable and allow flexible sleeping arrangements. Bathrooms were very clean.

Everything was perfect, Marilena has been very nice . She even said we can check out much more later . Very happy. Definitely will be back . Thank you

The place was clean and tidy. Everything we needed was there and we had complimentary small bottle of milk. Would definitely go back. We went to Canterbury through the bus at the entrance of the camp. Great weekend away

It’s hard to know where to start… this was such a wonderful place to stay. Myself and my family go away together each year and this was the first year with two little children in tow! And it was perfect. The house was incredibly spacious, so many bedrooms and bathrooms to choose from which made it so convenient with 6 adults and 2 children. There was so much room to socialise and play and the selection of toys was incredible. We needn’t have brought anything with us! Tania had very kindly sourced an extra highchair for us and put up stair gates which was incredibly kind and helpful. The garden is fabulous and we utilised all the different garden games as well as the BBQ. It was so quiet which meant we all got a peaceful night’s sleep, and that went for inside the house as well so the adults could socialise downstairs whilst the children slept without worrying about them being able to hear us. All the amenities were fantastic and I would love to stay here again and 100% recommend.

I had a lovely stay here with my son and dog. We came to clacton to visit family and it was ideally positioned for this. The local rugby field is just behind the house, which was ideal for walking the dog. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing Airbnb, beautifully decorated, great location by the water, parks and pubs. Would definitely stay again!

Spacious modern house a few blocks from the high street and a 5 minute walk to the beach. Clean and comfortable with all the basic amenities that you need. It is right next to a playground and park which is perfect for families. Lots of good restaurants, shops, etc nearby. We would definitely come back for another visit. :)

We absolutely loved staying here and would recommend it to anyone. The cottage is beautifully decorated, with so much attention to detail, and just felt so homely. The location was brilliant and perfect for exploring Whitstable. Thank you for a great stay!

The whole family experienced the ‘wow!’ factor upon entering this charming property. The pictures are a true reflection but it goes to show that a real life. 3D version is often so much better. Jamie is incredibly helpful and responsive and treated us to very flexible arrival and check-in times. It’s a very central location, easily walkable to the beach sauna! Highly recommended.
