The space
The Sloth Bar provides a serene, fully sustainable retreat, entirely off the grid. Tailored for birders, photographers and nature lovers alike, here’s what awaits you:

**Kitchen & Dining:**

The kitchen comes fully equipped with a wood-burning stove, gas stove with oven, refrigerator, sink, and all the essentials: dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. The open-walled design of the kitchen and dining area allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the surrounding nature while staying sheltered under a sturdy roof.

Basic household cleaning supplies are included for your convenience.

**Bedrooms & Bathrooms:**

Two inviting bedrooms, each with its own private full bathroom. The larger bedroom is furnished with a king bed, and the second bedroom offers a comfortable queen bed. Both rooms are fully enclosed and equipped with windows to let in natural light, and each comes with an individual room key for added privacy.

Towels, sheets, and blankets are provided.

**Living Spaces:**

Comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, with the option to host up to 6 for an additional fee per person. Additional guests will need to bring their own bedding, as none is provided.

Perfect for couples, small families, or groups of friends, this retreat features a patio with outdoor furniture, ideal for soaking in the serenity of the surroundings.

Additional amenities include a laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer, as well as an outdoor bathroom and shower.

**Eco-Friendly Living:**

The Sloth Bar at TMR operates 100% sustainably, powered by solar energy, with rain and spring water collection. Water is fully filtered and drinkable.

The property is a testament to reforestation, with much of the native flora thriving in this vibrant ecosystem. The forest is home to a variety of birds and wildlife, all part of a harmonious natural environment.

**Trails & Birdwatching:**

Explore the well-maintained trails of Tayutic Mountain Reserve, designed to attract native bird species, making it an ideal destination for birdwatching and hiking. Whether you're an experienced hiker or prefer a leisurely stroll, the trails provide an opportunity to connect with nature, surrounded by the sights and sounds of this diverse ecosystem.

Photography enthusiasts will love capturing the beauty of the vibrant flora and fauna, as well as the stunning landscapes that make TMR so special.

**Nearby Towns:**

A short drive drive down the mountain brings you to the town of Tayutic, where you can find two local bodegas for provisions, and a soda for simple Costa Rican meals as well as a bar. A further 10-15 minutes will take you to La Suiza, offering a bank, supermarkets, restaurants, butcher and produce shops and local police department.

Come experience the beauty and tranquility of The Sloth Bar at TMR, where nature and sustainability meet!

Guest access
We strongly recommend an AWD or 4x4 vehicle for smooth access to the reserve and getting around most of Costa Rica. This is a remote location.

Guests have private access to the entire cabin and are welcome to explore the scenic trails of TMR at their leisure. Digital trail map available at our website: Tayuticmountainreserve

Each bedroom comes with its own key for added convenience and privacy.

Other things to note
Given the elevation of our cabin, evenings can get chilly, so we recommend dressing in layers.

Early check-in and late check-out may be available upon request, though it’s not guaranteed.

As much as we love pets, **no pets** are permitted on the property, particularly dogs. They can disturb the local wildlife, especially the native birds and animals that call TMR home.

We take great care in maintaining a safe and natural habitat for the wildlife here at TMR. You might be lucky enough to spot one of our many feathered or furry visitors enjoying the fruit bar feeder—a special treat for TMR’s diverse array of creatures!
