Shogo’s house in Gero is a cozy home that offers an authentic Japanese living experience. The bedrooms are just as you imagine them – sleeping on tatami mats with traditional sliding doors. It’s wonderful. The surrounding area is beautifully rural, and it’s easy to feel at ease here. There’s so much to explore nearby if you enjoy nature and going on excursions. Shogo gave us a warm welcome and kindly checked in during our stay to see if we needed anything. The kitchen is described as basically equipped, which is generally true – however, a few essential items like knives, a cutting board, and spoons would have made cooking much easier. For guests planning to prepare meals at home, this might be something to keep in mind. That said, the house offers excellent value for money, and we truly believe it’s a wonderful place to stay. If you're looking for an authentic and peaceful experience in rural Japan, this house is absolutely worth a visit.

One of the kindest hosts I’ve ever had. Was very responsive, greeted me at the door, prepared breakfast and even offered to drive me to Magome to avoiding having to catch the bus to access the Nakasendo trail. Even allowed me to borrow her bicycle to ride to a nearby onsen. A beautiful and comfy guest home in a peaceful neighborhood. Great experience
