This part of the Scottish Highlands is a truly stunning area with an abundance of wildlife, beautiful views, walks and places of interest. Auchterawe House is a perfect place for walkers, hikers, cyclists and keen fishers. Auchterawe House is set in the woods of Auchterawe Forest. Take a cruise to see Nessie the Loch Ness Monster or stop off at the Caledonian Canal Centre in Fort Augustus. In Fort Augustus there are several pubs and restaurants to choose from.
“The house is located at a calm, lovely area and is very close to restaurants and shops in Fort Augustus. Sara and her husband were very gracious and made sure we were settled in and comfortable. The icing on top was of course the games room with ice hockey and pool table. We put some music on and had a few hours of recreation which was great after a long drive. I would definitely recommend the place to anyone who would like to avoid the hassle of a city and enjoy some peaceful and fun time.”
The Field House sits on the edge of a hayfield just outside Fort Augustus. It is a warm and intimate space, with a living and dining area with spectacular views of the fields and hills, an ensuite shower room, a galley kitchen and two single beds in the loft. The decking is frequented by game birds, hares and owls, and highland cattle graze in the neighbouring field. Fort Augustus and Loch Ness are a short walk away, and the house is perfectly located for exploring the highlands further afield.
“Amazing cosy little place that we didnt want to leave after only 1 night. Super clean and has all the essentials for a quiet night in to cook and chill in the surrounding tranquillity. Olivia was a great host, very quick to reapond and helped us out sourcing some bikes locally and with the best route to take along the caledonian canal. Would love to revisit sometime.”
Apple Pip is a beautiful Swedish tiny house set in its own garden in the woods outside the village of Fort Augustus. A truly beautiful and luxurious space which is artistic and quirky, making it your ideal romantic retreat for two. Easy walking to Loch Ness and all the forest trails right from your front porch or relax and recuperate by the wood fire after a day of outdoor adventure. It provides all modern facilities and will be a wonderful base to discover the magical Highlands of Scotland.
“We had an amazing time at the Apple Pip. Julia and Ian were both very welcoming, responsive and helpful. Despite the cold weather, the house is very warm inside thanks to the electric heaters and the fireplace which we absolutely loved and which added to the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. The wood and fire lighters were provided. Every room is beautifully furnished - cannot imagine a nicer place to spend long winter evenings. It has all the appliances one might need, including a washing machine and a dryer. Being located on the edge of a forest away from major roads, it’s a tranquil and quiet place. The Apple Pip is a great starting point for numerous scenic walks, with the picturesque, ancient forest just behind it. Within a few minutes, we were able to reach the River Oich. The car park for the Allt na Criche waterfall trail (which offered amazing views over Loch Ness at the end of it) is only a few minutes’ drive away. We enjoyed greeting the chickens in a nearby shed every morning too!”
