Cave vacation rentals in Sassi di Matera

This was a once in a lifetime kind of stay. Our host met us at the carpark and guided us down to the Sassi, with tidbits of great information about the city. There is one of the cities nicest view points directly above the property and it’s just down the road from lots of good restaurants and bars. If I could give our stay 10 stars I would!

We stayed for a month the host was friendly, did a check up every week. Proactively asking if we needed something. The place was well located, easy to get to different cities around. A good stay overall

Could use a long list of words to describe the location and Matera. Stunning is the right one. Location is breathtaking. You feel like you are simply part of the stones.

We are so very grateful that we found Angela's place. It was a last minute booking for us and we didn't have very high expectations. If we would have had though, the high expectations would have been met!! We stayed in the loft apartment and it was very clean, very practical furnished and very quiet and peaceful. There was everything you needed. The pool was cold but I love that since it was hot summer when we visited. Sun all day on the sun chairs!! Her two dogs were lovely. Angela as a host is the best host I've ever had during all my airbnb stays. Very attentive, easy communication, super friendly and really helpful. I would most definitely come back to casa pistacchio. The house is located at the bottom of the city (its a steep and cool city!), and the accommodation provided parking. Grazie mille Angela 🫶

What an amazing place to stay in Matera! We absolutely loved our time at Francesco’s wonderful sassi apartment. It was stunning to stay in an actual sassi, and the atmosphere of the place was authentic as well as comfortable and beautiful style-wise. We loved the decor. The bed was comfortable and the huge bathtub in the spa area was heavenly. There are very good restaurants right by the apartment, including the one directly across the street. It was so nice having the patio right out front looking out on the incredible town of Matera. We had lunch and aperitivo out there and it was pretty heavenly. Francesco is a kind and responsive host, and we were so happy to stay at his wonderful place!

Giuseppe was a great host. Very responsive and friendly. The house was super clean and just like the pictures. The outdoor terrace on the Sassi is breathtaking and really add values to the stay. I would highly recommend or stay here again.

Anna's place is a dream. Comfortable beds, furniture and the atmosphere itself is beautiful. It has that balcony that is a privileged stage of what you will see in Matera. Tourists literally take their panoramic photos from the street in front of the house. It's fully equipped and everything works great. Anna as a host is unbeatable, I never thought the host could be so important. My family had a lot of problems that had nothing to do with Anna or Matera and she was always helpful, kind, close, empathetic. I am infinitely grateful. It saved my trip. I highly recommend it

Well designed and simply but effectively furnished accommodation, with good shower and facilities. There is good lighting and obvious electricity sockets if required. If you want to sit out for a late breakfast at the small table in the narrow entrance alleyway catches the sun for an hour or so (around 1100 when we were there in May). Plenty of local maps and information booklets were available. It is situated a short and reasonably level (only about 8 steps in total) walk from Piazza Vitoria Veneto, so a wheelie suitcase isn’t too much of a problem in the pedestrian only area. Good eateries and cafes nearby, but a gas hob is available if you want to eat in. Good property info folder. We used the secure car park recommended in your initial information - Garage Damasco. Although it cost €25 a day we felt we could leave it without any problems. One of the suggested experiences was Slow Food - Home Restaurant where we cooked an Italian meal in the chef’s home kitchen. Brilliant.

The hotel itself is stunning — the underground pool may be the best I’ve ever swum in. But what truly sets it apart is the staff: their passion, musicality, knowledge, and love for the region brought everything to life. A lovely, comfortable room in a great location in the old town of Matera

My boyfriend and I stayed at Moyseion's place for a night. It's truly an experience you won't get anywhere else in Matera. There is extremely much detail in this listing. Each room has its own theme that has a story behind it. In addition to the spaces, the staff is also extremely helpful and hospitable. You can ask them anything and they are happy to tell about the historical elements of the stay. We really enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who is in doubt! P.S.
