Getting around
Car always best. My city Bus very convenient.
Having a car in Cape Town is always the best way to travel around, but the My City Bus covers some convenient routes.
What to pack
Always have a jersey with and sunscreen.
Even on hot summer days, Cape Town can have chilly winds and evenings are almost always cooler. And of course, don't forget your sunscreen. Because of the wind, the sun may not seem too hot, but it will not spare anyone.

People ask "How are you" a lot.
You will notice that people ask "how are you" a lot. Whether in shops, at the tills, in restaurants ... the first sentence is often: Hello, how are you? - Just reply the same :)

Driving etiquette
Driving in Cape Town can be new for some. For the most part, drivers are very polite. If you overtake them, it is customary to "flash" your emergency indicator to say Thank You. They in turn will flash their headlights to Thank you back. If you are overtaken and see the car in front flashing their emergency indicators, they are saying thank you, so just respond by flashing your lights.
