The Hydro electric dam and fish ladder, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre, which puts on a selection of shows each year, and has a good restaurant. There is also the Blair Atholl Distillery. Lots of small local shops, and in September there is usually the Enchanted Forest outdoor light show in the evenings (ticket only).

This is a garden centre with a great selection of unusual plants. There is also a pottery centre next door, where kids can decorate their own pots etc, and a lovely circular walk around a small lake. I believe the garden centre also offers coffees now.

Busy Scottish capital, with lots to see. Museums, the Festival, ghost walks. I love the old cobbled streets and the atmosphere. To me, the easiest way to get there is to drive to the North Queensferry park and ride, and take the bus in. The buses run until quite late, but be sure to find the correct bus stop to get back to the park and ride. When you are there buy an all day bus ticket if you plan to visit further than the centre, as it is very reasonably priced, and will take you as far a Musselburgh or Rosslyn. See Rosslyn separately.

Generally a tedious 2 hour long drive to get there, but it is rather a nice city. I wont go into details as I have to have a good reason to drive there, and usually opt to stay the night. It is possible to do a circular around Ballater, Royal Deeside and Glenshee, but exhausting.

I've twice been to Fort William and could not see the mountain. The third time I took a drive and found it! Having spoken to people who climbed it, they said it is straightforward, but a long climb up as it is from almost sea level. Dont attempt unless you have the correct footwear and rain, wind, and snow protection. There may also be no views with clouds.

This is at the end of Loch Tay. Very scenic loch, watersports and the Crannog Centre, which is a reconstruction of an ancient wooden house built on stilts on the loch. I have heard it is an excellent place to visit, but like a local I haven't got around to it yet.
