The Indian Lake House -lakefront-Hot Tub-Sauna-

KateRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had a great time over a holiday weekend! The house was close to a few places to get necessities and a few places to eat. It was within a half hour to a few ski areas also, which was the main plan of our trip. The house was beautiful and clean. Thr sauna and hot tub were great features of the home. We got a good amount of snow while there and Julian was quick to keep us updated on having the driveway plowed. The area is beautiful wotha lake view. The house had plenty of space and bathrooms for our two families. Everything was clean and in goof shape when we arrived.

Wilmington Range Log Cabin on the AuSable River

MatthewRating, 5 stars1 month ago
My wife and I absolutely loved staying at Johnathan's place in Wilmington. It was even better than it looked in the photos! Beautiful location and felt private while also being very convenient to many hiking locations and the town of Lake Placid. We loved the 2nd floor deck off the bedroom, and it was soothing to have the sound of the river down the embankment below. Would definitely stay again. Thanks Johnathan!

Charming 2 Bedroom Modern 1880’s Farmhouse

KathleenRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The farmhouse was a delightful place to stay in lake placid. Behind the house was a rail trail, it was busy but not crowded. People on the trail were respectful; we hardly noticed them. The cabin is fully stocked with basic needs plus more. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the house. The house is closer to the street than I expected but the street was pretty quiet. The house is in very close proximity to loads of great hikes.

The Boathouse on Fourth Lake

DianeRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Everything is just as pictured - and so much more once you check in! The end of the season did not disappoint - the waters were calm in the morning for a canoe paddle; the loons visited and were a joy to listen to; the weather was perfect for a campfire and the views were spectacular. The house is stocked with high-end amenities, everything you'd want to find and a few that you didn't even know you needed! Looking forward to returning next summer!

Summer Dream! The Handle Lodge at Snowtree Condos

MarkRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Our family enjoyed our stay at Rafael's condo. The space was very clean and comfy, and exactly matched the description and photos posted here. The fireplace was a great draw, too. If you're planning on skiing at Mt. Snow, the Moover shuttle bus stop is located right outside of this building, which made for a very convenient and quick way to get to Mt. Snow for my family of 4. We would certainly stay here again in the future.

Elegant, spacious studio apt in historic mansion

LindseyRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Such a unique stay! David gave very helpful instructions for arriving and getting to the property, even supplied photos for extra assistance. The property itself is cozy and in a great part of the city. There’s lots to do nearby, super walkable, and David provides great local recommendations. The shared gallery space was so cool to see too. Great experience!

Nicest bnb we have stayed at in placid! We had the grounds to ourselves and enjoyed sitting by the lake the first night before it rained the rest of the weekend. The place was cozy and the fireplace was nice for the rainy days. I appreciated the snacks and drinks in the room too!

This is now the third time that we have stayed at this place in Cornwall and it didn't disappoint. The place has everything you need, and more. Thoughtful touches around the space, (makeup remover, bandaids, laundry facilities, coffee and hot chocolate, basic condiments) make you feel right at home.

My wife and I stayed here visiting family in Whitehall, and we are glad we did. The property was quiet and the cabin was immaculate! 🌙 Olde Salem A-Frame Cottage 🔮 near Lake Ontario

KaitlynRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We loved our stay! Everything was so beautiful and comforting. The string lights allowed us to not use the overhead lights which was very nice when the sun went down. The binder with things to do, see, & eat was an amazing cheat sheet to the area. Can’t wait to stay here again in the future!

Peaceful Cabin with Kayaks/Porch/Fireplace

KristenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This lovely cabin was just perfect in every way! The house itself was very private, nicely furnished and was stocked with everything you need and more to enjoy every part of the property. We enjoyed the three season porch and the interior fireplace the most where we lounged for hours in between walking to and from Sacandaga Lake to the property's dedicated access area. Though it rained all weekend, we could not have found a more quiet, serene and peaceful place to spend a long holiday weekend. We look forward to returning sometime soon!

Owl's Head Cabin - Private ADK High Peak Retreat

DustinRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Staying at Owl’s Head Cabin was an absolute joy and food for the soul. Thank you to the hosts for sharing this very special place. There are many little details both inside and outside the cabin that enhance it’s charm- whether it be the feisty hummingbirds that can be watched from the comfort of a futon on the screened-in back porch, the backyard oasis by the babbling brook, the propane grill ready to cook an outdoor meal, the mountain and owl-inspired decor, the well-equipped kitchen, the beautiful log railing, the DVD collection in the loft or the little corner library. The cabin is also very conveniently situated near some of the best hikes in the Adirondacks with the High Peaks Wilderness just down the road. Marty and Nancy were also wonderful hosts and easy to communicate with. Blessed to have spent some time at this special getaway in the mountains. Hope to return someday.

Your guide to Adirondack Mountains

All about Adirondack Mountains

Covering much of northern New York State, the Adirondacks Mountains region contains the largest naturally protected area in the contiguous United States. With more than 100 communities, it’s truly about choosing your adventure, whether it’s a peaceful lakeside getaway in Lake George, a hiking adventure in the High Peaks Wilderness near Lake Placid, or even an underwater dive to look for shipwrecks in the Adirondack Seaway up north. Many choose to start their week-long adventures in Old Forge, known as the Adirondack Base Camp, while others make a weekend trip out of it, whether it’s chasing thrills at the theme park or just gazing into the serenity of the area’s natural beauty.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Adirondack Mountains

For outdoor lovers, May to August is definitely the sweet spot to book one of the rental houses in the Adirondack Mountains, when highs are in the upper 60s to low 80s Fahrenheit and lows are in the mid-40s to upper 50s. Of course, along with the lovely weather comes the crowds, so book ahead. Winter sports fans will generally find the best conditions from November to April, but look for freezing temperatures, usually in the low teens to mid-30s, but dipping down to the single digits in January and February. Pack accordingly with the warmest of gear, including hats, gloves, scarfs, and maybe even hand and foot warmers.

Top things to do in Adirondack Mountains

Lake Placid

Best known as the site of the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980, the village is packed with winning spirit year-round. Take the elevator to the top of the 70- and 90-meter ski jumps for an aerial view of the Adirondack Mountains — and, for the more daring, speed back down to earth via the zipline. The high-adrenaline adventures continue on the country’s longest mountain coaster in North America at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, where the 1980 bobsled team raced. But it’s not all about the sports history here: The downtown area is packed with delightful locally owned boutiques and eateries, including a brewery and bakery.

Lake George

The entertainment options are endless in the area surrounding the 32-mile-long lake. There are mini golf courses and an amusement park, craft breweries and wineries, local boutiques, and factory outlets, all set to the backdrop of the mountain-and-forest scenery.

Saranac Lake

Packed with unique adventures, a day in the village of Saranac Lake can include river walking in waders, forest bathing, and canoeing in the state’s only designated canoe zone. Plus learn how the mountain air here helped cure tuberculosis patients around the turn of the center at the Saranac Laboratory Museum.
