This comfortable ultra-modern villa will help to make your stay a memorable one.

  • The Villa is a dream and we truly enjoyed our stay - especially the pool & outdoor shower. The location is a bit remote but still very close to the city center. The car was safely parked within the gated area. During night time we even had security in front of the Villa. Anthony was very helpful and there in case we needed anything. We booked the tours with Terry & JP (ATM & Caracol), which were amazing including pick up from the Villa. The guides we were very knowledgeable and we had a great time. Terry was also very responsive and helpful whenever we needed something. We enjoyed the communication throughout our stay. We can only recommend you staying and doing the tours. We’ll definitely want to come back here.

  • The Villa McCaw was nothing short of amazing. The perfect private retreat to return to after a day of adventuring in San Ignacio. If you want to feel like a celebrity while on holiday, this is the place for you! Beautiful, modern design. I want to live here! 5 Stars and beyond

  • This is a great AirBnB. The space is beautiful and very relaxing. It’s much prettier in person. The outdoor shower was my favorite feature. We did get lost walking around the town but they quickly located us and drove us to dinner. They’re always available. I’d def recommend this place!

  • Villa Macaw is such an amazing place to stay in San Ignacio. Waking up in the mornings and drinking coffee while taking in the view in this quiet neighborhood started our days the right way. After a long day of adventure and exploration, coming home to the private pool was exactly what we needed! By far one of the nicest Airbnb's I've stayed in!

  • Great hosts and a welcoming house with a beautiful river view. We enjoyed our stay at Hadas's place. Thank you again for your hospitality.

  • Best Airbnb in Cayo!

    Matt2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Hadas was the perfect hostess and we were made so welcome from the start by her and Tom. Great communication and tips and lots of lovely little touches such as fresh fruit and water and coffee awaiting us. The house is such a beautiful little place with river views and all the little touches, wonderful and thoughtful furnishing and all we needed including use of rubber rings, picnic blanket, bamboo plates and cool box. Beds and sofas were comfy and it was a great place to relax. We travelled with our four-year old and little Alma had kindly lent him some toys and games. There's a sand pit and swimming area so all we needed to entertain him. He was also fascinated by the eco toilet and gas. We all were! A very eco friendly place. There was lots of wildlife around; lovely seeing so many humming birds in the garden. It's a handy location just off the main road between San Ignacio and Pine Ridge but that can make the passing traffic a little noisy sometimes. It's a beautiful and relaxing place to stay with perfect hosts. We'd highly recommend.

  • This is the perfect location to base your mainland Belize vacation. Where else can you find easy access to the best sites, this close to the city, but still with the privacy and peace of being surrounded by nature? The home itself is fantastic, Hadas could write the book on setting up your place for an Airbnb. Everything was clearly labeled and instructions and tips were great. The kitchen is well equipped, the view from the lounge is amazing, even the shower was a fantastic experience. As hosts, Tom and Hadas were super friendly and have a great story to share. Would have loved to spend longer!

  • Beautiful home and gardens by the river. Everything you need is there.

    Patricia2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! My wife, our nine-year-old daughter, and I absolutely loved staying here. The house is absolutely beautiful and full of intentional artistic touches. The ecological design was exciting to see as well, with the option of using a methane digestor stovetop burner and tropical permaculture garden. We were greeted by toucans in giant guanacaste trees and an absolutely epic swimming spot on the river behind the house. We took a dip immediately upon arrival at dusk and came out of the river to see fireflies along the bank. Sitting on the screened-in porch in the morning and drinking coffee, looking over the river, listening to the sounds of the jungle and watching the countless bird species (the provided binoculars was a great touch) was a highlight of my trip. Hadas was an exceptional host. We were in contact before the trip and she was able to send me a pdf guidebook about the place and the area that really helped in planning our trip. She met us when we arrived and was very patient and gracious with us while we landed and even took us down to the river to catch the last bit of daylight with a swim (we had left our house in Colorado at 2AM and had spent the whole day traveling to get there). She walked us through all the details of the place and made sure we were settled, bringing us fresh fruit and cut flowers for our stay. There was also a mini-bar of sorts with some chocolates and snacks available for purchase, as well as free coffee and tea. We would have loved to spend more time here, and are planning on coming back some day. It is really close to places to eat in Santa Elena and San Ignacio, but feels like a sanctuary. I would recommend this place to anybody.

  • What an amazing place, when we were originally putting the trip together we came across this place and loved it. We realized that we would have to rearrange our stays at 3 other bnb’s in Belize to stay here for a couple days. It was worth it, this place is amazing inside and out. The home is beautifully crafted and exposed to nature while still feeling secure. Nice and private. Private beach is 2 minute walk from home, and the garden is amazing. Really nice amenities and only place out of 3 other air bnbs that had personal touches. We would stay again.

  • Hadas is a super host. She help us with tours booking. She was very helpful. The pictures doesn't make justice to the reality. It's a beautiful intimate place suround by nature. There is a lot of little touch inside. Loved it.

  • Incredible hospitality, friendly hosts and great value for money. Their place is located close to the center of San Ignacio so everything is a short walk away. Francisco and Nellie organized our ATM and Tikal tours for us and we got a better rate than the ones available in town/online so I would recommend booking with them!

  • You can't go wrong staying at Mana Kai! It's in a perfect location across from the farmer's market and town square and back up to the river. The grounds are spacious and you'd never know you're in town. All of the staff from Nellie and Fransico to Frank are very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to see that you have what you need. Hode's just down the road has great food or you can find many places in town.

    Debra2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Very close to the city centre while at the same time located on a quiet lush piece of property. Definitely recommend!

    Greg2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay here. The location is ideal - right across from the farmers' market and an adorable french bakery and an easy walk into town. The campground is lovely and the cabins are cozy. We stayed in the farthest cabin and managed to pick up a wifi signal while sitting on the front porch. The traffic (mostly motorcycles) can be quite loud at night, as the campground is right off a main street, but this wasn't anything earplugs couldn't fix! Will absolutely stay here again!

  • The Jungle Cabana was spacious and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the hammock on the porch was sooo relaxing! There was always a cool breeze blowing so we hardly needed the air conditioning. This was a awesome cabin in the woods! Melody and Rod were great hosts and answered all our questions quickly.

    Dawn2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Melody’s place was outstanding! Her and her brother are great hosts. They have wonderful recommendations on things to do and even will book tours for you! Their cabin is on a beautiful property.

    Destiny2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Feels like ‘glamping’ which was a nice jungle experience. The property is a short drive from town on a dirt road. 4X4 recommended for exploration.

    Adam2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This just might be the best AirBnb I have ever stayed at. So much thought went into this place and the property. The location was great. Cristo Rey is a delightful little village. Just 15 minutes from San Ignacio but you won't want to spend time in the city when you have this little piece of paradise waiting for you in the jungle. Melody helped direct us where to book our tours and they picked us up from her property. There was a fire lit for us in the evening. She even did our dishes one day when we were out! Thank you for helping make our visit UNBELIZABLE!

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Book this place! Melody and her team were so accommodating, helping us navigate what at first felt like the complicated process of traveling Belize without a car. They made our very short stay in Belize a breeze! The internet was down while we were there, but Melody problem-solved and allowed us to use her hotspot. As far as the place itself, being surrounded by the serene sounds of the wilderness soothed my soul. I felt at peace swinging in the hammock at night. It didn't feel so scary knowing we had cabins next to us. It was unforgettable and I would stay here again.

    Jocelyn2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Melody and Rodale along with parents made this experience a memory I’ll have forever. They were amazing host and their hospitality was unmatched.

    Johnny2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, are the first words to articulate! The place is just as depicted, a quaint cabin in the rain forest. Talk about serenity! Now to top off our accommodation, the kindness and hospitality extended by the host makes this a MUST visit. Melody asked if I needed a pick up from the airport, when I explained we were commuting from Placencia, she offered her brother Rod's driver services. Not only at half the cost i'd found anywhere else, but they included a stop at a national park I wanted to visit along the way. Upon arrival at the cabin, we forgot limes, fear not she says: "complimentary limes for our guests from our lime tree"! With traveling for 10 days, we wanted to be able to cook, while the cabin has a full kitchen, the charcoal BBQ was a fantastic amenity to have! Think that's incredible, wait for it.. on our last 2nd last night we noticed they had a fire behind their place, when we inquired, what did they do for our last night?! Build us our very own pit beside our cabin and even chopped and provided wood! OUTSTANDING experience thank youuuuu! - Michelle and Jef

  • Melody and her brother truly make you feel welcome while staying at Monkey Falls. They are very willing to help schedule and coordinate tours and transportation which makes it very easy to navigate Belize. Their cabins are wonderful and serene. You will be amazed at the setting offered. Do not hesitate to stay here as you will be impressed with everything offered.

    Jason2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabins at Monkey Falls are a great value for anyone looking for a base to explore the Cayo region. The cabins are comfortable and well appointed and located in a quiet and scenic area just a short ten minute drive up the road from San Ignacio. Melody is a great host and very knowledgeable about the area. She arranged a tour with a great guide service of the ATM cave for us which was fantastic and highly recommended!

    Chris2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • A nice clean cabin with kitchen and shower between the trees. It also has a dek with two hammocks. Every window had screens so that you don’t have a lot of bugs in the cabin. We had a wonderful time here. Melody and her family where really friendly and helpful. And there is lots to do in the surrounding area. I would definitely stay here again.

    Cynthia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a rental car and planned to visit the ruins at Xunantunich and Corocal , and Melodies place was a good location for these and the ATM cave. Our cabin was large with everything we needed, the deck was beautiful and we sat out early in the morning and also in the evening enjoying the peaceful rural setting and there were no mosquitoes or bugs at all when we were there in February. We loved this place and would highly recommend it.

    Errol2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Melody’s place was awesome! The hammocks were nice and comfy. She was very responsive and accommodated all our requests! A great place to stay if you don’t want to be too far away from San Ignacio’s center but still experience the noises of the jungle.

    Trier2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rod and Melody were great! Super accommodating, very friendly, and great recommendations for adventure trips and restaurants. Can’t wait to see how they develop this place in the next little while!

    Kathleen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Monkey Falls. Thank you Melody for being a great host by providing us local tips and places to do go. It was a beautiful location close to a small romantic waterfall as well as a river beach. We loved our time here, nothing negative to say.

    Ghazaleh2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing find. Cristo Rey is straight out of a tropical rainforest fairytale. Melody was an excellent hostess before and throughout our trip. The cabin was delightfully decorated and extremely private and clean. There is meticulous level of detail all around the inside and outside of the property. Please note that it is not what I would consider walking distance into San Ignacio, so you will definitely need to rent a vehicle or use public transportation. We took the bus several times that stopped right in front of the property. The only downside is that the last bus from San Ignacio is around 6:20pm.

Stay in a room with jungle views, accessed by a bridge, with private bathroom (with hot shower) and access to a lounge, dining room and well equipped self catering kitchen stocked with fresh Guatemalan coffee. We are very environmentally friendly, and are located on an organic farm in the village of Seven Miles in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge. We offer a fresh, tasty breakfast for US$5, and we have mountain bikes available (free!) for your use, free wifi, and maps of the local area.
Checo Hill is a small, family run guesthouse, with a laid back, relaxed atmosphere. We hope it is somewhere that you can make yourself at home – tea and coffee are always available in the guest kitchen and there is selection of books to read in the sitting room – as well as a base from which to explore the local area, and perhaps learn about Belizean village life and farming. Both of us (Kate and Adam!) have backgrounds in conservation in Belize; we try to be as sensitive as possible to the environment in our management of the guesthouse, forest and farm. We produce almost all of our power from solar and wind, and this allows us to run lights, charge appliances, and to use fans when the sun is shining. After dark we have to be more cautious, but it is still fine to use our low energy lights, listen to music and so on. Our 11 acres of land are a mix of rainforest and farmland, giving us a patchwork of habitats which is particularly attractive to birds and other wildlife. There is excellent birdwatching straight from the front veranda where you are likely to see species associated with open areas and broadleaf forest. The land is also home to many species of mammal including kinkajous, armadillos and porcupines, and we are occasionally visited by ocelots, jaguars and other cat species. We often hear howler monkeys calling from the hills around. Our trails allow you to explore the forest and climb to the summit of Checo Hill. From here there are magnificent views over the Belize River valley to Belmopan, and out across the Mountain Pine Ridge to some of the largest hills in the country. We don't use chemicals on the land, and are drawing on the principles of organic farming and permaculture to help restore the farm to production.
We are situated in the village of Seven Miles, close to the Mountain Pine Ridge, and are very much a part of the community. We are not a jungle lodge, but a place where you can relax, explore the Cayo district and experience day to day life in Belize. Most of our neighbours make their living from farming, so you will see people walking to their farms and driving to the market with their produce. There's a small shop in the village where you can buy basic ingredients and toiletries. You can also get Central American style snacks (tostadas, tacos, etc.) from the Women's Group snack and gift shop in the village centre.
  • Great place and an even better host. Judging by the other reviews I expected the road out to be terrible but it’s not. It’s just a dirt road people. Nothing crazy and it’s well maintained. Kate also has amazing breakfast and the kitchen has really nice pots and pans to use. The rooms are large and comfortable as well. I would bring snacks, wine and dinner to best enjoy the space. It’s a really nice place!

    Rachael2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you can weather the rough road in (only 7 miles), this place is everything a Airbnb can possibly be. A nice, remote location on a beautiful farm with native birds and wildlife all over, a short drive from Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve and walking distance from local restaurants. The host was great, providing a great room with every possible amenity you could expect (and not expect) from such a remote place in Belize. Clean water, free coffee, hot water shower, good plumbing, private bathroom...for the price you CANNOT beat this place

    Steve2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great secluded place to stay. Very clean and nice. Kate made us a breakfast with eggs and produce from her farm and it was really good. Definitely recommend it. Too bad it was raining as I would have liked to tour the farm, but at least I got the culinary tour!

    Romy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kate and her farm are incredible! It's tucked away from all the hustle and bustle, where the sounds of wildlife are pleasantly rampant (but not obnoxiously so), without losing the conveniences of life such as a cozy place and bed to rest up, and a hot shower to wash off the day's adventures! She helped us figure out tour ideas (we did ATM caves and cave tubing), made us delicious breakfast each morning, and even gave us a tour of her farm while pointing out all the awesome things that her and her husband are growing! We loved the small hike to the top of the hill, where they've built a solid lookout point... We could see everything for miles! Literally! Too cool! We were also big fans of the 7 Miles (the little village closeby). They had places to eat when we were too tired/lazy to cook. Definitely stay here if you're looking to disconnect a bit while adventuring!

    Danielle2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kate's location is great for adventure- plan ahead with 4 wheel drive and some groceries picked up on the western highway. The place is a great hub for exploring. I had wonderful sleeps and rises to the jungle sounds of nature. You will love it!

Help yourself to coconuts, tamarind, limes and more. Cool off in the creek where you may see and hear howler monkeys and toucans and egrets. The market and bus stop are outside the gate. You're welcome to give the cattle their weekly molasses treat. On our website use the "THINGS TO DO" link.
An efficiency (about 120 sq. ft.) with a relaxing deck for viewing sunsets.
This chunk of heaven has rolling hills with tropical fruit trees and pines. It’s in the Billy White area just 2.5 miles from the popular Mennonite community Spanish Lookout which is the center for local produce, fresh meat, fresh baked goods, and modern-day conveniences. Quaint, safe Spanish Lookout is 20 minutes from San Ignacio – a favorite of expats and tourists - which also has a hospital. The property is fenced completely; some is cleared for cattle, some for tree & farming and year-round gardening. The rest of the 100 acres is lush tropical vegetation. Heaven Valley has a pond and a freshwater creek running throughout. The property is accessible directly from the main road but maintains privacy and spaciousness.
  • Hosts were amazing . Quick responses, simple living, we loved this beautiful little place in Belize . If your expecting luxury go to a resort, but if you just want a simple nice place to stay here in western Belize this place is worth every dollar .

  • This is a very cute, rustic and quaint place set in gorgeous surroundings. The accommodations were very humble but adequate. You cant beat it for the price. Best to stay here if you have a rental car because it's a bit off the beaten path. Shanita was very helpful and quick with responses.

  • Really a great stay in a great village. Preferred a lot more than staying in the city. Getting there was very easy,. Loved the village. Loved the property and the cute tree house

    Miranda2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at this location. The modest accommodation offered everything I needed and the Internet connection was fast and reliable. Although having your own vehicle would definitely be a plus, the bus passes right in front of the property (which is large and worth exploring in itself) and allows you to get to the area's points of interest. Most important of all, the hosts were very friendly, welcoming and responsive. I would definitely recommend them!

    Ralph2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for two weeks and had a really great stay. We had a car for the first few days of our stay and it definitely made getting around much easier. Then we did catch the bus from Belize City and hopped off and hitchhiked through Spanish Lookout to the house- no issues at all. There is also a bus that passes right by the house that can take you to Spanish Lookout or the other way to San Ignacio. There are a few stores within walking distance so we went grocery shopping there and cooked every night- either in the kitchen or on the grill outside! Brent and his family are really great people and extremely welcoming and very attentive to any of our needs but they also give you your own space. We traversed around the property and met the cows, dogs, kittens, and chickens. Beautiful sunsets from the porch. There is a fan but no ac but that was good enough for us even though it got up to nearly 100 on some of the days we were there- it cools down drastically at night! The shower is cold but I swear it is so refreshing and I wouldn't have taken a hot shower anyways. We had an extremely relaxing and pleasant stay and will definitely be back!

  • A lovely place to stay in a beautiful garden! We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to other travelers in San Ignacio. The hosts provided a wealth of information about local activities and restaurants, which was greatly appreciated.

  • Peter and his family were very welcoming and helpful. Made our stay very comfortable and provided us with lots of info on the right excursions and company’s. The place was very cool with a garden full of iguanas and an awesome family cat sanctuary next door. Thanks again for everything!

  • Our stay was comfortable and the hosts were very accommodating and warm. They assisted us with booking tours and local recommendations which was very helpful! Nice jungle vibes, beautiful birds and iguanas!

  • Peter and family are amazing hosts. Communication was great right from the very start. The cottage was fabulous, very clean and situated on beautiful grounds. Peter is a wealth of knowledge. He set us up with airport transfers and excursions. Its an easy walk or short cab ride to town. We look forward to staying again!

    Tracey2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peter, Jenny, and family were fantastic hosts. When we arrived, their son helped us carry our luggage and Peter helped us spot some iguanas from our front porch. Jenny then came over and took us next door to their daughter’s cat sanctuary (Crazy Tails Cat Sanctuary). She has 31 cats on her property and they’re all incredibly sweet and well cared for! The house itself was a gem: clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Peter was also extraordinarily kind to us and gave us some binoculars for wildlife spotting, booked our tours for us, and did our laundry for us (and folded it!). This is definitely one of the coolest Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in and trust me, we’ve stayed in a lot. If you’re looking for a secluded place vibrant with wildlife just a hop skip away from downtown San Ignacio, this is the place for you!

  • Great spot to stay to venture in and near San Ignacio. The apartment is on the bus routes to anywhere you want to go, you can flag them down right outside the door. Ms. Lola is very sweet and kindly shares her kitchen space and tools/dishes. Private entrance, private bathroom. The apartment is above a pharmacy. If you haven't gotten a local SIM card or way to phone the host, the pharmacists can call upstairs to let him know you've arrived.

    Marisa2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Friendly hosts, comfortable bed, hot shower. Well equipped kitchen. Location is uphill, 5-10 minute walk downhill to the centre and a little more on the way back.

    Yoram2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at Ms Lola's. She was so incredibly adorable and very sweet. We sat and chatted with her for a few hours. The room was a good size, bed was comfortable. Bathroom was very good.

  • Jaime was wonderful! He was so helpful and a true local. He has a passion for San Ignacio and anyone staying with him or his mother would be very lucky.

    Amelia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. We absolutely lucked out by booking this place! The location is amazing, above a very well-known pharmacy and right on the main road up to Cahal Pech (but not too loud or busy). We happened to have the whole place to ourselves as Ms. Lola was traveling for Xmas. Jaime, her kind son, lives close by and met us to let us in. He also helped out by booking us a shuttle straight from the airport, since we arrived Xmas day. Hot water in the shower was amazing, location fantastic, clean apartment, separate entrance, what more could you want? If you’re bothered by light when you sleep, bring an eye mask— the light from the A/C (even though powered on) is very bright at night.

    Jessica2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. It is on a busy street so there are loud noises at night but also close to town and lots to do. I’d say a fair trade off. Ms Lola is very sweet and easy to talk to.

    Emma2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jaime and his family are lovely and made us feel very welcome. He also helped us with advice and discounts with tours. The bed was very comfortable and the parking very secure. We enjoyed our stay here very much and ended up extending our stay :-)

We are located A mere 15-20 minute walk to Cahal Pech Maya Ruins and the Iguana Sanctuary, the famous Xunantunichruins is less than 8 miles away ! There’s plenty to do and see in San Ignacio but the town is most popularly used as a base for exploring all of the local attractions including the Mayan ruins of Caracol, Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, the ATM Cave, Barton Creek Cave, the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, zip lining, and Tikal just over the border in neighbouring Guatemala. Originally a small village of logging camps and chicle farmers, San Ignacio and its twin town of Santa Elena have grown to become a thriving metropolitan area in the western part of the country. Close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tikal just over the border in Guatemala as well as several of Belize’s most prominent Mayan ruins, San Ignacio is a popular tourist destination. San Ignacio is one of Belize’s most diverse urban areas, with Mestizos, Creoles, Lebanese, Mennonite and Chinese indigenous populations calling the area home. San Ignacio is the de facto capital of the western Cayo District. Along with its twin town Santa Elena, San Ignacio is built on the banks of the Macal River and form the second-largest municipal district in the country after Belize City.
  • Great cute little place, great host. Close to downtown.

    Dan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in San Ignacio and Hummingbird Rest. There is a lovey view of the garden from the patio and kitchen and the room was quite comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming and super helpful with advice when we needed to change our plans to tour ATM due to weather. We would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Hands down our best AirBnb experience to date. My husband and I spent 5 nights at Peter’s place in San Ignacio. The hospitality he and his family offered was over and above anything we’ve ever experienced. They helped us arrange 3 tours with their preferred tour company and gave us lots of pointers on things to do around town. Hummingbird rest is the perfect spot for anyone who wants to spend time in nature. We loved all the birds that came to the feeders and seeing the iguanas that visited the property. The place is a quick walk from the grocery store and a 20 minute walk to downtown. Would absolutely stay again and would recommend to anyone to asks.

    Jessica2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, rustic cabin in San Ignacio, felt like we were in a jungle yet very close to town. Very peaceful. Peter & Jenny were both very welcoming, great communication. We visit the Maya Ruins - great place to visit, we did this without a guide. Thanks to Peter for organizing a visit to the ATM tour - absolutely worth it. We really enjoyed our time in San Ignacio, the locals were very friendly. Enjoyed delicious belizian meals. Thank you, we will be back. Highly recommended. Wonderful host. Jenn & Andy.

    Jennifer2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a must stay! Beautiful grounds with many trees and flowers, birds, iguanas, and a cat sanctuary! Peter is the most helpful host, especially with transportation. Fully equipped with a kitchen and water. My boyfriend and I hardly ate out because we wanted to come back and enjoy our place. You won't be disappointed.

    Katie2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful place to stay in a beautiful jungle setting! We really enjoyed the house and sitting on the porch. There was so much to do around San Ignacio--Cal Pech, the Raptor Center, the Iguana Center, and then the Tikal and ATM tours (don not miss these!!) as well as lots of places to eat. Peter and family were always available to help or answer questions and set up tours. Couldn't have asked for a better place!

    Shirley2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Peters place is a really good place to stay. Our cabin was really nice and rustic and had everything you could need to be comfortable. The outdoor area is very beautiful and the plants all around the property are stunning. We saw several humming birds every day. They have a very friendly dog named Tootsie who is so nice- I wish she could have come home with me. Peter and his family are really good hosts. They are around if you need them or have questions but give you your space and privacy as well. Within the cabin is a guide with many good restaurant recommendations and fun things to do in the area. I found this very helpful and often referred to it. We booked our ATM tour through Peter and the company he suggested was very good. All in all I highly recommend this accommodation!

  • We loved our stay. It was a bit hot the first night, but Peter was accommodating with a floor fan. They were quick to respond and helped us with all of our requests. They even arranged our transfers at a better price. We enjoyed the private and rustic feel of the accommodation. Highly recommended!

  • This place was a great place to stay in San Ignacio! When we arrived, Windy was there to greet us and gave us recommendations on what to do in San Ignacio, including organizing tours for us - much appreciated! The apartment is super cute with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen and living space. We loved that we were able to cook our own breakfast in the morning before heading out and really enjoyed the deck out front. Highly recommend!

  • Great place to stay. Super quick and easy to communicate with, they were all lovely and very helpful!

    Shannon2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was large, spacious, sparkling clean, and extremely close to town while far enough away to make it quiet at night. Dorian was so quick to respond if we had any questions, and Windy went out of her way to help us, from organizing a cave tubing adventure with very little notice, to helping us get a taxi- she even lent me her water shoes for the tubing adventure since all I had were flip flops!! The AC was amazing, the kitchen set-up ideal, and the bed was so comfortable we slept hard every night. If you have the chance to book this place, jump on it!!

    Laura2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Location near main town near may restaurants. Great space with hammock. They were great with communication and shuttle service drop off area very close. No difficulty finding apt.

    Patricia2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Windy was amazing......she allowed us to check in early, gave us great tips, set up a cave tour for us, set up a shuttle, and even brought fresh fruit and snacks for us to enjoy during our stay. The location of the house is perfect and extremely close to the market, bus, and restaurants. It is a wonderful space and is thoughtfully decorated. The patio was a great place to sit and relax. An added bonus was the washer and clothesline available for us to use after coming back muddy from our caving adventure. I can easily say that this was one of the best experiences I have had with an AirBnB. I would highly recommend it and hope that we can return in the future.

If you travel for the adventure and a cultural experience, then this is the place for you. We are nestled in a peaceful residential neighborhood, only 10 minutes walk from Down Town San Ignacio providing you access to clubs and other tourists yet away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Experience a friendly Belizean residential area while exploring everything San Ignacio has to offer. Visit Mountain Pine Ridge, Xunantunich, Cahal Pech archeological site, Iguana Conservation Project....
This 10ft x 20ft room is indeed one of a kind. It is the result of a transformation of a shipping container into a comfortable iving space. Besides being equipped with a bed, it has its kitchenette and private bathroom. A fan is provided.
The neighbors are discreet but friendly. The area is relatively quiet except for birds in the mornings. My favorite part is that at night the stars and moon are still in full view from the back yard. The tall trees give the illusion of seclusion. Occasional barking of dogs or the joy of children fill the air.
  • I stayed at Fernanda's for a few nights. It was nice to have my own space and a kitchen. She was lovely to visit with and so was the other guest who was staying in a different suite. This is in a residential neighborhood with dogs in the area, they can bark at night sometimes, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. I'm happy I found the affordable little suite. San Ignacio is a cool town and I love Belize.

  • She was an amazing host! We made a mistake when booking (2 people instead of 1) and she provided us with an extra mattress and sheets. She is a really nice person and we loved our stay with them! We recommend for sure

  • I was very comfortable in this space for 2 weeks. This is a very cute space! Cute fenced yard with picnic table and bench seat. Great location!5 min walk to corner neighborhood grocery and just another 5 min. to 3 other larger grocery stores. About 20 min from the Welcome Center busy hub and market area. This place has a shower with great hot water and amazing water pressure! Fernanda is very nice and very accommodating. She went the extra mile to make sure my stay was extra comfortable by bringing me a little table, letting me borrow some sugar and letting me borrow a scale to weigh my luggage for flight home. She is also very friendly and was fast getting back to me when I had questions or needed anything. Even though it doesn't have a stove, there was a hot plate which did just fine for all my cooking needs. You can't beat the price, especially for what it provides. I highly recommend!

    Kimberley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • I was a little apprehensive about staying in a shipping container, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. It was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The only downside is walking into town. While it’s only a little over a half mile, there is a pretty good hill between the house and town. If you’re young and healthy it wouldn’t be a problem. I’m 69 but I still made it OK.

    Walter2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was very comfortable with hot water showers for the cooler evenings. My host went out of her way to provide me with additional amenities not listed making it possible for me to make my own meals. The nights are quiet, except for the occasional dog barking and roosters waking you in the morning. I definitely recommend this place seeing its a short walk to the main road where you cab catch a bus or taxi into downtown San Ignacio. Thank you Ixora for making my stay so memorable and for the beautiful added touches, your kind smile and always ready to help.

    San Ignacio, Cayo District, Belize

Jungle view in the heart of a little village in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge. 3.5 miles along a winding dirt road from San Ignacio. Large private deck & shared outdoor kitchen facilities. Lucky Dreamer Lodge is a non-smoking property. The bungalow is fully screened. Sleeps 4 comfortably. The Belize Bungalow was our home for about 5 years before moving into the new home we built a bit closer to the river. The bungalow is GENUINE Belizean built - sturdy & functional, but not fancy.
The large deck has 4 hammocks, and additional seating - with room to spare! We are steps away from the Macal River and have a two-person kayak and innertubes ready for your use (no additional charge). The Belize Bungalow does not have a view of the river, but does have a nice jungle-yard view (as seen in the many photos). We also have a second bungalow on the property that sleeps 2 - the Banana Bungalow: https://airbnb.com/h/banana-bungalow-lucky-dreamer-lodge And if you are planning a 'surf & turf' vacation, we also have a one-bedroom condo on Ambergris Caye, 10 miles north of San Pedro..... where the jungle meets the surf! https://airbnb.com/h/lucky-dreamer-lodge-ambergris-caye-condo The Belize Bungalow is a stand-alone cabin. It was our home for over 5 years, before we built our current home closer to the river. The Belize Bungalow is roomy and functional, but not fancy :-) The Belize Bunglaow is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany queen bed, and two twin-size sofa beds. The very large, covered/screened deck overlooks the property. There are birds everywhere & of every kind! We had a birdwatcher recently identify over 60 bird species in a three week period! There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the use of our guests. The kitchen is a shared area with guests that book the Banana Bungalow. It is not inside the cabin - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! Even our own kitchen is 'outside.' :-) The outdoor kitchen is two steps down from the screened deck. We provide coffee beans, sugar, powered cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, season all, a variety of hot sauces, and many other condiments/cooking ingredients. The shared outdoor kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans, mixing bowls, dishes flatware, cups, etc. We also have items such as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, non-stick spray, cooking oil, etc. We also provide a 5 gallon jug of filtered water for the use of guests (which we replace as needed). We recommend bringing refillable/lidded bottles to take advantage of the water and to avoid buying bottled water while here. We also keep one gallon of water in the frig, and have ice packs and ice cubes available for guest use.
Our village is a beautiful place to live, mostly because of all the wonderful Belizeans that welcomed us with open arms! On any given day you'll see kids going door-to-door selling homemade goodies, or veggies from their gardens. The tortilla man delivers fresh tortillas twice a day (Sun-Fri) - for 95 cents U.S. a pound! There is a small convenience grocery store directly across the road from us. There you'll find just about everything you need for simple meals. Just a short walk down the road is "Faldy's" & “Sandals” two local restaurants that serve made to order local-style meals. A short walk up the road is a place to go horseback riding! About a mile down the road is a local spot called "The Showers" - a waterfall area, that very few tourists know about. And it's free!
  • Cheryl and Jeff are top Notch hosts. They know the area around San Ignacio and all the available tours and excursions very well and provided detailed information that enhanced our experience greatly, information we could never get from a regular tourist information source. The Belize Bungalow was very spacious and well supplied with everything we needed. The place was spotless and so comfortable. I would return to the Lucky Dreamer Lodge any chance I get.

    Rebecca2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl and Jeff truly have a jungle oasis, just a few minutes from San Ignacio. From the fully equipped outdoor kitchen to the comfortable cabin with it’s beautiful antique furniture and huge screened porch and the kayak to explore the Macal River, everything was just perfect. They also went above and beyond and provided us crucial advice that saved us from what would have been a disaster at the Guatemala border. They were overall extremely helpful and accommodating and as a result, our Belize adventure began better than we ever expected. We truly hope we are able to return to their homestead to visit again someday.

  • This was hands down our favorite stay in two months of travelling. The space is gorgeous, the bed is comfortable, the kitchen well equipped. It is obvious that cheryl and jeff are seasoned hospitality professionals- they made our time even better! 10/10

  • Cheryl and Jeff's Belize Cabana was fantastic! It was nestled in the rainforest with access to the river for swimming, kayaking, and tubing. They were great hosts and we loved the outdoor kitchen and screened in porch with hammocks. The location was close to tons of things to do in Belize. Highly recommend!

    Kendal2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience, incredible hosts, beautiful layout of property and bungalows. We have stayed at both locations and we enjoyed them. The Belize Bungalow has a great patio where we enjoyed the morning and evening breezes swinging on the hammocks, open living room and spacious bathrooms with a walk-in shower. We enjoyed the outdoor kitchen every morning. Cristo Rey is a short 10 min drive to San Ignacio where you can find great food, a farmers market and convenience stores.

    Byron2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real winner. Clean as a pin and the hosts are wonderful and extremely helpful. They will help you with anything you need and give you advice on what to do. Consider this a “no brainer”.

  • Book here! Don’t wait because it may be gone. I am so thankful that we stayed here. It is exactly what you need in a vacation stay. Extremely clean and so many thoughtful touches like coffee, extra towels, bug spray, a hammock, and a cell phone that works locally with recommended cab drivers numbers stored in the contacts. It is about 10 minutes away from the middle of downtown and down a gravel road, but 100% worth it and very peaceful. Will definitely stay here the next time we are in San Ignacio!!

  • We stayed for a couple nights in March, 2020. Terry’s place was exactly as advertised and we were very happy with it. Terry was always quick to respond to all of our questions and she even had her daughter deliver a care package with water, pop, beer, and snacks. We also booked a cave tubing adventure through Terry which was thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend Terry’s place and would definitely stay there again in the future.

    Trevor2020-03-13T00:00:00Z

  • This place was so Absolutely Perfect!! Even better in person than the images portray. The Gorgeous views, clean, extra everything ..pillows, blankets, towells.. amazing kitchen. Just over the top with all the extras!! So comfortable!

  • Terry & JP’s place was simply lovely. Really well decorated with a calming feel. The bed was very comfortable and the whole place was equipped well. The view from the balcony special, overlooking all of San Ignacio yet the town was only a 20 minute walk away. San Ignacio was fun to explore with several nice bars and good restaurants which were all very reasonably priced. For anyone staying here I’d highly recommend visiting at least one of the Mayan ruins (we went to Xunantunich) and go caving and zip lining. We booked all our trips through Terry & JP’s tour company which was really easy and our guide (Victor) was fantastic; really friendly and he made the trips extra special. We had a great time visiting!

    Gemma2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rent this place now! This rental was absolutely amazing. The space is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out (the view from the balcony is awesome). It is clean, organized, stylish, and has all the perfect amenities to make this place feel like home and luxurious at the same time. When we checked in, there were even snacks for us and drinks in the fridge (thanks so much!). Terry and JP were so great at communicating and were extremely accommodating. We were traveling with our baby and they made sure we had a portable crib; not only did they provide it, but provided one of high quality that made us feel that our baby was safe and comfortable. Thank you, thank you! The location is perfect. We did a tour to Tikal through Terry and JP's other business and the guides were so great. We have stayed at a LOT of airbnbs and this one was on the top of our list!

    Lindsey2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Trust the reviews and just book this place. You absolutely will not be disappointed. Terry's hospitality is top notch with thoughtful extras like plantains, soda, and ice cream. She made sure the place was ice cold when we arrived. The space looks like something you'd see on a chip and joanna gaines HGTV special. The bed is very comfortable (soft-medium firmness, good for side sleepers) with soft and cozy linens. There is a grocery store just down the street. The whole propertyis fenced with a gate, so you feel safe too.

    Kayla2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Terry & JP’s place was perfect for our 2-night stay. We were just a few minutes drive to downtown San Ignacio and The Cahal Peck Mayan Ruins. It was perfect and clean for us two. The place felt so safe especially because of the gated driveway. We also loved having the options to play some board games that they had and watch TV before bed! Thanks for a great stay!

    Brian2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • If this place is available then stop looking and book it ASAP! Terry and JP are so helpful. They took care of everything including our transportation, tours and taxi service. The only bad thing were the pictures posted here because they don’t do justice to how great the actual place is!

  • I recommend this stay to any one person or a family! it is good to get in touch with nature and enjoy the scenery. Shanita is a good host she provided directions to and from her home as well as the surrounding areas. Transportation was made easy due to the shuttle being right outside the place of stay. Shanita provided things like food and clean fresh water. The Amenities are awesome and are all up to date which gave a feeling of being home. Resources are close to the area so the need to travel far is not needed. The surrounding towns are accessible by shuttle which is an amazing experience in its self. If you are questioning anything you can be at ease because this place is more than you expect and makes for a great vacation.

    Derkey2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • David and Shanita’s place was a beautiful get-away! The pictures capture it accurately and the vistas are so peaceful! It was fun to hear the howler monkeys and to have to cows come around in the mornings. The place was clean and well cared-for, and Shanita was responsive with helping us to find the place and get what we needed.

    Josephine2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house, on the edge of a jungle area. Gracious and responsive hosts. We could hear the monkeys close by, and saw several kinds of birds including a couple of toucans. Story Time: We learned about "Cleaner Ants" on this trip. One time, during our stay, we walked in on a trail of small black ants across the floor. I was on the phone with a local who said. "STOP! Leave them alone, they are cleaning and will move on in a few minutes." And before our conversation ended, the ants were gone. The spotless home somehow felt a bit cleaner. First time ever thinking, "welcome back anytime" about an insect. The host has provided a can of Raid, if you feel the need. But this is our 3rd trip to Belize. Lots of jungle time, no bug spray, and so far not one insect bite. YMMV

  • David and Shanita’s home was a good slow introduction to Belize. We enjoyed the patio with the view of their ranch. We especially enjoyed the kittens. :). Thank you for making our stay a warm and welcoming experience not only to your home but to Spanish Lookout.

    Alfredo2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and secluded house on the edge of the quiet town of Billy White (near Spanish Lookout). It was hard to find at first but Shanita was quick to respond and help us get to where we needed to be. San Ignacio and Spanish Lookout are easy to reach and have everyting you need (shops, restaurants, resorts with pool, etc) but Billy White has shops for the basic needs as well. Would reccomend (if you enjoy being “in the jungle” ;)

    Mathijs2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • David and Shanita’s place is perfectly located. Its perfectly isolated but if you feel like going to town you can hop on the ferry to san ignacio. During out stay we took hikes on their property, explored Spanish lookout, went to Tikal (in Guatemala), and explored the ATM cave. Their place is beautiful, clean, and Shanita was very helpful throughout our stay.

    Yaroslav2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot; in the middle of nature. Very nice to have a house and do some homecooking after traveling for a while and staying in hotels. We had our own car, which is recommended as, though a bus is passing close by you are quite far from San Ignacio. One bedroom has airco, the other a fan.

Located on a peninsula in the village of Bullet Tree Falls, Cohune Palms is a peaceful, shady spot on the river. It is a great village to walk around - meet locals, eat some great food often with handmade tortillas, or watch a football game.
  • Me and my family had an incredible time at Cohune Palms River Cabanas. The location was great, the food, and most of all, the people! Anyone going here that is interested in the culture should sit down and chit chat with the workers. Mike was also very helpful finding us the best deals and accommodations to get to different places such as big rock waterfalls, Xunantunich and cave tubing... This area is also a good place to relax (there is good wifi 😛 ) We wish we could of stayed longer and we are very happy that we found this wonderful place!

    Angele2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with rustic, cabin-like accommodations but all the necessities and very comfortable. The best kept secret is their excellent food! Being out a bit from San Ignacio was no issue as tours or taxi picked us up at the cabanas. A dip in the river was fun at the end of the day. Highly recommend!

    Brian2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this little oasis! Really close to San Ignacio restaurants and many attractions. Hosts were friendly and kind and know much about Belize and culture. My kids loved the rope swing out into the water. No bugs here. Beautiful private deck with river and jungle view. Really good breakfast and dinner available on site. We loved everything about our stay. Just a bit of a rough road to reach the cabanas. Just great place all around.

    Tracy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bevin's place is absolutely wonderful! The cabana is cozy and beautiful. The common area and the river are magical. Melanie welcomed us with kindness and excellent food, and Mike gave us suggestions about things to do. The place is located in Bullet Tree which is a small village very close to San Ignacio. It was very easy to reach the city and the sites with our car. The atmosphere in the place is so calm and pleasant - we were extremely happy about our stay and if we come back to the area (hopefully soon!!) we will stay only there!

    Marco2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for enjoying what the Cayo region has to offer, all from a quiet and relaxing spot at the end of the road! It was lovely to go adventure all day and come back to a great meal (thanks Melanie!) and tips for the next day (thanks Mike!).

    Amanda2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay by the river! The rooms were beautiful and clean and the area was just as expected. We loved the hammocks by the riverside. Mike was very helpful at sight seeing tips and arranging taxis for us. Melanie was an excellent and friendly cook. We had breakfast and dinner there every day for our duration and the food was incredible! Thank you Melanie! Would definitely recommend!

    Christina2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • One note to start is we were here in September, it was pretty Hot and Humid for us northerners, and there is no AC. We knew there was no AC going in, it but maybe were not fully prepared for the heat, although cold showers before bed helped. As for the property, it was a really cool location to stay. It was super quiet there, and the hospitality from Frank and Mel were amazing. We had 2 of our 3 dinners with Mel who's cooking was probably some of the best we had in Belize (only rivaled by the Hungry Grouper in San Pedro). Mel also packed a lunch for our own trip to Caracol. I think we tried all of her breakfasts as we had that every morning. They always had coffee ready by the time we were up and provided great tips about local places to visit, and Frank even helped us set up our ATM cave tour. ATM is a must do from here, and is not as taxing as some people make it out to be. I would recommend booking here. We also enjoyed the company of Whiskey (the local dog) and Butt Cheek (local cat) who would hang out with us in the evenings. We also got to see several toucans in the early mornings. Bring bug spray if you plan to hang out in the evenings by the river though. These are the types of stays why I prefer Airbnb over Hotels, just because of the hospitality and local knowledge we get from hosts like Frank and Mel.

    Danny2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Toucan Cabana in Cohune Palms! As with anything, it’s good to be real about expectations - this is a thatched hut cabana in a jungle. This makes it fun and unique and cozy! But also granted to be a little “closer to nature” than some travelers might like. ;) The staff are all AMAZING. Attentive and friendly and open to giving tips about any aspect of Belize that you want to know. Melanie is also a fantastic cook. We are almost all of our meals on-site and loved it. Nothing better than breakfast by the river in my book! I highly recommend this wonderful little hideaway outside of San Ignacio.

  • It was in a great location, enough parking for one vehicle. Close to markets, shops, restaurants and ruins.

  • The appartement was way much bigger than I thought! It’s very well located, 5 minutes walk to San Ignacio Center. There is a supermarket at the corner of the street. There’s a kitchen and a fridge. I was supposed to stay 7 days but had to leave because of a change of plan, but i would have stayed there much longer!

    Miguel2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, central location, and very quick responses. Was perfect for us!

    Stephanie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and excellent value! Check-in was a breeze, and the property was very comfortable. The small kitchen had all of the basic necessities for our 2 week stay. Internet was fast and worked very well for us to work throughout our time there. Having a standing fan in each room, really helped with the heat of Belize! We had our car, which we parked on the street in front of the house and had no problems with it at all. Grocery stores were about a 5 minute drive, and downtown San Ignacio less than 10 minutes. Although we didn’t walk anywhere, everything seemed that it would be easily accessible. Weekly cleaning was also a plus! Would definitely recommend for your time in Santa Elena / San Ignacio!

    Tiffany2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent apartment, very clean, very good communication with Raymond, very acceptable, exceptional location, in general ... all excellent. It is recommended for more than one night

    Marlon2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed the space the unit has. Kitchen was well equipped enough for us to make alomost all our own meals. It's in a great spot pretty much overlooking the town. With only a short scenic walk in town and resturants. The bigger supermarkets are about a 1km walk. Also so much to do in the area. Highly recommend the ATM cave.

  • I spent 4 days here in December. It was cool enough that I did not need the A/C. It is a nice place with full kitchen supplies and 10 minute walk downhill to the downtown area. I found the Mayan Prince restaurant nearby a great place to eat. The room is next to a suite of other apartments which I found comfortable; this place was designed to be a functional living unit. Nice comfy chairs here too!

The room has private access & is perfect for couples or single backpacker, like yourself, who are interested in my little jewel, Belize. The Cayo District is where many activities take place such as: cave-tubing, zip-lining, climbing archaeological sites, riding ATVs, canoeing, and exploring waterfalls. Earplugs needed, dogs in the neighborhood.
NOTE: Bathroom is shared with the guests in Hortus Locus 2. AC added to the room! Optional use, if interested in using, the fee is 10 USD per Night :) Hortus Locus 1 is a self-catering accommodation with private access, feel free to come in and out whenever you like. Check-in and Check-out time are flexible unless there is a guest in Hortus Locus 1 the day before your check in, then we will have to give them time to check out so you can check in and vice-versa. NOTE: The Wifi is not high speed internet, but its speed is enough to get the basic browsing done. It is also not reliable when the weather is rainy, it can go down at times for no reason as well, there is only one service provider in the country so hope you understand that you won't get awesome internet anywhere in Belize.
We have a lot of land to run around in. Our neighborhood is pretty quiet, safe, and everyone minds their own business. Like the rest of Central America, we too have dogs and the whole block does as well, so bring ear plugs because sometime they can get loud and annoying. Our dogs are in the main house's property so you won't interact with them, unless you want to.
  • We fell in love with this place. The garden area is beautiful and we really loved hanging out on the porch, complete with hammocks. The kitchen area is outside (covered), and it is basic but we cooked often and had all we needed for basic meals. There is a good supermarket five minutes walk away. The area is not a tourist area per se. It's real Belize but we felt safe here. It is a fairly long walk (25 mins) into the centre of town but there are buses if you prefer and taxis are not too expensive if you need one. The rooms are small, mainly just a bed and a little space to store your things but the garden is right outside and that counts as a lovely space to hang out in. The bathroom is not ensuite and is shared when both rooms are occupied. In summary, this not a high-end holiday accommodation but we loved it. I will definitely go back if we head back to Belize sometime. Mirian was amazingly helpful to us and one of the sweetest people we met anywhere! travels

  • Great place, super quiet and not too far out (15min walk from center). Super friendly communication and a lot of help to book a tour in advance! We would definitely stay there again and had a really great time!

    Luisa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Other reviews describing the great hospitality of the hosts were entirely accurate: Mirian and her parents were amazing. The room was comfortable and well decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed and the garden made a pleasant setting. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

    Laura2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mirian's place is really clean, you get a garden for yourselves and hammocks which we really enjoyed. Mirian was also very helpful organising trip to ATM and providing tips for other queries. Highly recommended!

  • We really enjoyed our 2-night stay at the property. While we only rented one room, the other was unoccupied during our stay, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Everything we needed was there, the owners really thought of everything and provided plenty of storage, cooking utensils, toiletries, etc. Quiet and safe location, about a 5 minute drive from downtown. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Very lovely place! Although it is not located in the center, we didn't regret booked this accomodation! It was very clean, great bedroom, everything we needed was in the kitchen and the garden is just beautiful. We have even extanded our stay! Mirian helped us with the tours and organizing a taxi and also Mr. & Mrs. Rivas were very polite! Everything was perfect!

    Sandra2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mirian and her parents are the perfect and most helpfull hosts and we felt very comfortable at their place. Mirian helped us booking a tour, arranged a driver to pick us up within 10 minutes and gave several tipps and recommendations. The place is really calm and relaxing and has a beautiful garden! It is located a bit out of town, but it was easy to catch a taxi outside the property. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and there is a supermarket right around the corner. We really enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend this place.

    Louisa2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, this is the best air bnb I have stayed in. It was comfy, stylish, and overall an easy place to be in. The hammocks were great to wind down in and the garden was like a fairytale! They are always there to help you, Marian even booked a tour for me and then rescheduled my shuttle for me. I could not have asked for a better experience!

River & jungle view in the heart of a little village in the foothills of the Mountain Pine Ridge. 3.5 miles along a winding dirt road from San Ignacio. Private deck, & outdoor kitchen facilities. Lucky Dreamer Lodge is a non-smoking property. The bungalow is fully screened. The large deck has a hammock, dining table with four chairs and a loveseat - with room to spare! We are steps away from the Macal River and have a two-person kayak ready for your use (no additional charge).
The Banana Bungalow is a stand-alone cabin - lovingly built by hand, by us and some local friends & neighbors. It was initially meant to be a guest house for family & friends, but everyone said it was too special not to share with others! We also have a second bungalow on the property that sleeps 4 - the Belize Bungalow: https://airbnb.com/h/belize-bungalow-lucky-dreamer-lodge And if you are planning a 'surf & turf' vacation, we also have a one-bedroom condo on Ambergris Caye, 10 miles north of San Pedro..... where the jungle meets the surf! https://airbnb.com/h/lucky-dreamer-lodge-ambergris-caye-condo Banana Bungalow is made of local hardwoods and local pine from Mountain Pine Ridge. The casita is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany king bed and hardwood night stands. The covered deck overlooks the property with a peek at the Macal River and hills beyond. There are birds everywhere & of every kind! We had a birdwatcher recently identify over 60 bird species in a three week period! There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the use of our guests. It is a shared area with guests that book the Belize Bungalow. The kitchen is not inside the bungalow - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! Even our own kitchen is 'outside.' :-) The outdoor kitchen is a few steps away from the bungalow. We provide coffee beans, sugar, powered cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, season all, a variety of hot sauces, and many other condiments/cooking ingredients. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans, mixing bowls, dishes flatware, cups, etc.
  • Beautiful setting and amazing hosts.

    Katie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl & Jeff’s place is MAGIC. They are wonderful hosts and immediately did everything they could to help make our stay so comfortable. The casita itself was top of the line - clean, quiet, comfortable, and newly built. And their bathroom was easily the nicest we saw in all of Belize. The location was great - quiet and comfortable and just on the outskirts of Cristo Rey, the most charming village!! Wifi was great, kitchen had everything we needed, and we loved cooking outdoors, and having the dogs around to great us was icing on the cake. We would come back and stay again - for longer next time - I’m a heartbeat!! Thank you both for such a great experience!!

    Buffy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the peaceful time we spent at Banana Bungalow. We took the kayak up the river and visited some Mayan ruins and went cave tubing. Rick did a great job transporting us to and from Belize City. Thanks for setting that up for us!

    Dan2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing space and hosts! We took a tour out to Caracol with Rick and could not have asked for a more thoughtful or informative experience. Highly recommend!

    Katherine2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience with Cheryl and Jeff and our stay in the Banana Cabana was beyond expectation. The photos cannot begin to capture the magical feeling of this place. This was definitely our favorite place to stay in Belize. The cabana itself is beautifully constructed. The bed is extremely comfortable. The shower is just lovely. Sitting on the deck and watching for wildlife is a fabulous way to unwind. But probably the best part of staying in the cabana is waking up to the sounds of the jungle. We definitely enjoyed cooking in the open air kitchen. Everything was in perfect working order and well organized. And there were ripe banana from the property when we were there, which ruined us for store-bought bananas forever. If you have an opportunity to use the services of Rick as a tour guide, do so! He is a gem. Is knowledgeable and personable and will greatly enrich any adventure you choose to do. Thank you, Cheryl and Jeff, for opening up this gorgeous space to travelers.

  • My husband and I spent two nights at Cheryl & Jeff's magical property. I wish we had booked more days here, as it was truly special. We loved the porch with the view of the jungle down to the river. The house itself was beautifully built, and you can tell they put a lot of heart, soul, and effort into the space. We enjoyed eating at Sandal's down the road for dinner, and it was great to have use of the bikes to make it a quick trip. The highlight of our time there was using the kayak to paddle in the river for an afternoon. We loved our stay!

    Jen2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Truly one of the best Airbnb experiences that me and my husband have ever had. Cheryl and Jeff are experienced and so knowledgeable about hospitality and the local area, so it’s a perfect combination. We rented a car which helped us get there and around the area. It is so perfectly located to all of the activities we wanted to do while we were in Belize, including the ATM cave, Caracol, San Ignacio Farmers Market, Mountain Pine Ridge Mountain Reserve, Big Rock Falls, Rio on Pools, and SO many more. However, getting there by bus is easily accessible as well. Plus small local grocery shops and restaurants are all in walking distance, so you don’t have to go far if you’re just looking for a jungle retreat. They have a wealth of knowledge of everything to do around the area, so do yourself a favour- stay here, pick their brains and you will not regret it. Thanks again Cheryl and Jeff!

  • this place is just the place where you want to be when you’re in Belize... it is just great! the hosts are very friendly and very responsive, they also gave us advise on day trips... the banana bungalow is very secluded and well decorated! the location is great, they have grocery stores and restaurants very close to their location...

  • Mike's Place is great! The location was fun, middle of the jungle with a dirt road access. The unit itself was the top floor and perfect space for my family. The windows and fan kept it cool enough and views of the jungle surround. Mike was super responsive to my questions and willing to help us figure out a space for my daughter to nap if we couldn't get in early. Very accommodating and reasonably priced!

    Sarah2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's place is just amazing. Mike and everyone was super nice and accommodating. It is out there and the roads are rough so just come in an SUV with a high clearance if possible. We actually thought the drive was part of the adventure and had a great time along the way! The property is beautiful and upper level of the house we stayed in was super clean and even though there isn't air conditioning, it was cool at night with the windows open. The property has a restaurant with good food -- try the fry jacks -- they are delicious. They even stayed open after hours to serve a family that arrived back from a tour late. Barton Creek Cave is on the property and we did the extended tour with Alex -- we started in a canoe, then climbed and swam deep into the cave. It was exhilarating and scary (for me) at times, but I am so glad I did it. The extended cave tour was much better than the ATM tour which we had done 2 days previous. Alex was an amazing and super nice tour guide. He was kind and made me feel comfortable. My boyfriend and I can't say enough about our time at Mike's Place. We hope to come back soon and bring others with us!! Thanks Mike!!

    Kathy2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Mike's family and the entire staff at Mike's Place. Lilly, Elsa, Carlos, and Alex all took exceptional care of us. Part of our group did the extended cave tour with Alex and loved it. We were traveling with a toddler so a couple of us did the shorter cave tour with Carlos. Both groups had a great experience. Mike is a great host. He helped us with a day trip to Guatemala (which was also super fun). I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a jungle adventure. The setting is stunning and the people are so welcoming!

    Meile2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. A bit hard to get to in rainy weather. Guides and Mike helpful and a wealth of info. It was a real bargain plus the cave system on the property is a must see.

    Katharine2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place where you will get a real jungle experience. This is NOT a place for fancy people, you will not do well here. If you’re looking for a very unique Belize experience, then this is your place. There’s tons to do on the property and everyone is very accommodating. There are a ton of bugs in the jungle so come prepared for that. While there is no pool, there is a natural swimming place in front of the cave! You must do the cave tour!

    Jerrica2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's Place is the real deal! By far one of the best cave tours around, but that doesn't even come close to the hospitality that they provide. Food was great, everyone was positive and making sure we were having a good time. The experience and stories you will have after your stay will stay with you forever and most people will not believe it, but you must Belize it!!

    Aaron2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay was perfect! Mike and all of his staff did everything they could to make out stay amazing, including scheduling tours/drivers, providing amazing food and drinks at the restaurant and so much more. The cave tour that is offered is an amazing experience!

Our little Casita is a short 5 min drive from the heart of San Ignacio and nestled umungst the native land scape of the rainforest. On a private half acre this two bedroom, one bath home with a 300sq ft loft, and a 500sq ft veranda has breath taking views and sounds! We are close to the San Ignacio town center, Burns Ave, the amazing Saturday farmers market. Nine miles from the Guatemala Border, with day trips to Tikal, Florence, or just shop in Melcher.
Our home is high on top of a hill overlooking the tremendous beauty of the rain forest. Our private half acre has a variety of fruit trees such Mango, Avocado, Bread Fruit, Almond, Tamarin, Coconut as well as an all spice treen, one lonely banana tree. Our beautiful veranda is 500 ft.² with a large picnic table, A glider rocker, a nice wooden bench and a hammock for your relaxation. This is truly a space for relaxation, that has all the modern conveniences of home!
Our neighborhood is small, we live at the top of the hill and have three neighbors that are local. Very private, very safe and we love it. If your staying July, Aug, Sep, enjoy two very high producing Avocado trees. Jun, July, and Aug, enjoy native fruit of our mango trees. We also have a Bread fruit tree, Feb,March, April, and May. They are used like potatoes, boil, bake or fry!!! Two huge almond trees that produce all year long. A tamarin fruit tree, Nov, Dec, and Jan. They are pod looking, eat, or make fresh Tamarin juice. Coconut trees and one banana tree. Also go pick leafs off the all spice tree, boil in pot and the smell is amazing and drink as tea!
  • Great veranda, quaint cabin, and a short drive from centre of town, my third time there, with a great Host

    Ken2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • A great escape to the jungle. Nice place to wind down, lay in the hammock, experience beautiful views and beautiful birds and wildlife. The amenities are top notch, so bring stuff to cook!

    Natalia2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you like seclusion with a short 5 minute ride to town. This is it. Spent 3 nights and the town and staff are great. Quick response on issues. We did a lot and there is so much to do in Belize and it’s so close. Mountains and birds are great.

    Jeff2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was an excellent place to stay in San Ignacio. It was a five minute drive to downtown, to gas and groceries, and to great restaurants and the open air market. Easy access to the main road leading to Xunantunich was also nice. The back porch and hammock were great for stargazing and relaxing. Beautiful flowers and the occasional visit from birds and friendly cats made it our favorite room. The road was not bad and we could make it up the hill without using four wheel drive, but having it would be nice in inclement weather as it is steep and unpaved for the last couple hundred yards. We loved it and would revisit.

    Michael2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and relax. The road is a bit rough to get to the actual location, but doable. Loved the view, and the accommodations. We felt safe and secure and enjoyed the scenery. Marilyn was very hospitable.

    Sandra2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property on the outskirts of Downtown San Ignacio. We felt right at home! Definitely get a 4WD vehicle when staying here.

    Madeleine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin. My two friends and I would plan our day such that we have enough time to do activities during the day and still have time to hang out in the cabin. The grounds were very beautiful too:) We did hear the neighbors play their music too loud and a rooster woke us up every morning, but I used ear plugs and that resolved all those problems!

    Anna2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a “tranquil gem” as described! Slightly tricky getting in, but then you’re blessed with a jaw dropping view of mountains jungle and river. The place is huge and well appointed, only about 10mins from town (and some of the best shopping in Belize) — great if you want to save some cash and self-cater. We used this as a launchpad for Caracol adventure, and it worked out famously. Also, we have two young kids (4 and 7) and having space to roam around was super awesome. Local host (Marilyn) very sweet and attentive. Third time to Belize, first to San Ignacio, based on our experience we’ll definitely visit again! A charming legit little town with tons to do. Some stuff to make it accessible to tourists but also still very authentic.

Here at the Macal River Camp you can experience nature much as the original Maya inhabitants or early settlers did – with little of the distraction or noises of civilisation. The Macal River Camp has been designed for outdoor lovers.
The Macal River Camp has been designed for outdoors people who enjoy rustic accommodations in a remote setting, and does not provide electricity. The ten casitas, or small bungalows, are set on raised platforms and have private verandas. Comfortable beds with clean linens, pillows, towels and blankets and hygienic and environmentally safe bathrooms and showers are all provided, and the large thatched palapas is very comfortable for dining, playing games and socialising. However you fill your days, you’ll welcome a hearty home cooked dinner and cold drink on your return before relaxing around the campfire or in a hammock on your own private veranda with a good book, or just listening and watching as the jungle night unfolds.
We don’t impose upon nature, but instead, as has been our practice for decades, happily coexist with it in respectful harmony. This philosophy is evident at our Macal River Camp, where sensitive construction, recycling and operations allows nature to flourish and welcomes the local wildlife.
  • We loved our stay at the Macal River Jungle Camp and would stay again in a heartbeat! As other reviewers have mentioned, the availability of the many amenities available at the nearby Chaa Creek Lodge makes this an amazing value. The rustic casita in the middle of nature was clean, comfortable and all the employees we encountered, especially the family that manages the camp, couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating.

    Richard Scott2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a Jungle experience you must stay here. The Macal River camp is the place to be!

  • Would recommend the camp to anyone! We loved it. The hospitality, amenities, hiking trails, and the food!

    Talal2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was really great! It was way better than I expected. I did not know that they had a lodge outside of the campsite though. Overall I enjoyed myself and would definitely go back.

    Chancia2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • The river camp is freaking amazing. The cabins are spacious and have several beds and a porch with hammock. The bathrooms were clean and had hot water. Tio and his family were great hosts - Tio felt like an old friend and even joined us for some drinks after dinner. The meals all tasted amazing and fostered an awesome sense of community since everyone in the camp ate around the same time. I was traveling alone and made fast friends with 3 guys staying at the camp and we laughed all night. The convenience of hiking 10 minutes over to the resort side and accessing all those amenities - while paying the lower price for the cabin - cannot be overstated. The resort is AWESOME - the butterfly farm, museum, pool, and bar made for a perfect and relaxing end to my trip. The restaurant and bar prices are way higher than in town and closer to what you’d pay in the U.S. so I’d bring your own alcohol if you want to keep costs down. It’s also a bit of a ways from town and seems more like a stand-alone destination with its own activities so if you plan to be in town often, maybe split your trip between here and somewhere in town. That said, don’t skip this place and don’t skip the ruins - both made my trip what it was.

    Abbey2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience in the jungle!

    Yora Back2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is away from the main lodge, which is great because there in the camp you are surrounded by the forest and the river is nearby for you to swim. If you want a place to find some solitude, and watch wildlife this place is it. I heard and saw howler monkeys, lessons motmots, keel billed toucan, social flycatchers, trogons, Kingfishers, cormorants and so on. The place had a hammock to relax and look at the forest. It is hot and humid, but welcome to the tropics. There is no fan or power outlets in the rooms. You have a kerosene lamp turned on when it gets dark, but it just adds to the experience. They have free birding every morning, free use of the canoes, free use of the pool at the main lodge, and free medicinal walk. They have a sunset conoeing trip for about $12 and is well worth it. Now here is the catch, laundry is expensive, the drinks and the food on the main lodge are a little bit more on the pricier side (food is great though, but pricey), you have to get your own lunch, and electricity shuts down in the camp at 9 pm. Other than that, this place is great. Theodoncio and his wife are in charge of the main camp, and cook breakfast and dinner everyday, and they are friendly, helpful and some of the nicest people I have met. I would stay here again!

Stay in a spacious house surrounded by trees on our organic farm near the Mountain Pine Ridge, with freshly ground coffee, free WiFi, and free use of mountain bikes. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with hot water and river stone floors, while downstairs there's a well equipped kitchen, dining room and hammock, and cosy sitting room with library. We offer a fresh tasty breakfast for US$5 per person. We have hiking trails to the summit of Checo Hill, and can help to arrange tours and trips.
Checo Hill is a laid back, relaxed place in a laid back, relaxed village! We hope it is somewhere that you can make yourself at home – tea and coffee are always available in the kitchen and there is selection of books to read in the sitting room – as well as a base from which to explore the local area, and enjoy Belizean village life. Both of us (Kate and Adam!) have backgrounds in conservation in Belize; we try to be as sensitive as possible to the environment in our management of the guesthouse, forest and farm. We produce our electricty from solar and wind, and this allows us to run lights, charge appliances, and to use fans when the sun is shining. After dark we have to be more cautious, but it is still fine to use our low energy lights, listen to music, charge up your camera and so on. Two of the bedrooms have ceiling fans that you can use at night. Our 11 acres of land are a mix of rainforest and farmland, giving us a patchwork of habitats which is particularly attractive to birds and other wildlife. There is excellent birdwatching straight from the veranda where you are likely to see a range of species associated with open areas, scrub and broadleaf forest. The land is also home to many species of mammal including kinkajous, armadillos and porcupines, and we are occasionally visited by ocelots, jaguars and other cat species. It's a rare night when you can't hear howler monkeys calling from somewhere nearby - sometimes quite close! Our trails allow you to explore the forest and climb to the summit of Checo Hill. From here there are magnificent views over the Belize River valley to Belmopan, and out across the Mountain Pine Ridge to some of the largest hills in the country.
Seven Miles / El Progresso is a small farming village nestled in rainforested hills on the edge of the Mountain Pine Ridge. In the village you'll find a couple of small shops selling the basics (but you'll probably want to bring most of your food and drink in - nowhere in the village sells beer, although there is a bar a couple of miles away where you can resupply). There are a few places to eat (some by prior arrangement - we can help line this up for you) and some fun things to do nearby, including exploring a rather beautiful section of the rainforest near the village, mountain biking (perhaps in the Barton Creek valley or the Mountain Pine Ridge), and more. The forests around the village are full of interesting places - caves, imposing limestone formations, beautiful jungle... Some of these places are best accessed in the company of a local guide - again we can help set this up for you. South of Seven Miles the hills rise into the upland pine forest of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. Combined with Elijio Panti National Park to the west (broadleaf rainforest!) and the vast Chiquibul National Park and Forest Reserve to the south there's an immense area of wilderness for you to explore. The Pine Ridge and Elijio Panti National Park are laced with old logging roads and nature trails, making it very easy to get about - perfect for hiking and biking. There are more rivers and waterfalls than you can count - some busy, some seldom visited. We have maps available at Checo Hill to help you decide where to go and what to do... And have spent a lot of time exploring the nearer reaches of the Pine Ridge ourselves.
  • Staying here was incredible! Our family loved it! Make sure you climb to the top of the hill and check out the view of the community!

  • Really Nice stay at Kate’s place, it was a real pleasure to discover this area of belize and she is really helpfull

  • Kate’s place is tucked in the jungle. It is perfectly equipped and she is a lovely host and was helpful with local recommendations.

  • To say that our stay at Checo Hill Farm was AMAZING is not strong enough! Kate, our group of five Canadians spent two solid weeks with you, and all loved our stay. We were amazed at how quickly you responded to requests or questions, and provided details about what to do and where... and to give us a tour of your farm. It was a perfect space for us to enjoy, to chat, cook and rest. Thank you and Zadie so much for your kind attention and care. Sending hugs.

  • If you want to experience the real Belize and immerse yourself in small village life then this is the place for you. The house was great, had all the amenities we needed....situated on Kate, Adam and little Zadie’s farm. Kate is one of the best hosts we have ever experienced on our many stays at AirBnBs throughout the world and is very responsive and helpful. There are steep stairs leading to the bedrooms so if you have mobility issues this may be a problem. Also remember you are part of a working farm and living in a rural farming community so you will hear roosters, dogs....sometimes during the night..., cows in the morning, church singing in the evening at the local churches and the Mennonite children singing in the morning...what could be more Belizian?! Beware the roads leading to this place are like nothing you will see in the US, but very much reality here...made out of bedrock and more than just a wash board type of road you will find yourself traversing the last 7 miles to this house at 5-10 miles/ hr so make sure to get a 4 WD and come down this road for the first time in the day light. Also the shopping is sparse so get your groceries before coming to the house while on the the main paved road . Having said that, we ate out at the Women’s Cooperative which I highly recommend...great home made food for pennies. There are several places to eat in San Ignacio which is about an hour away, and if you are there on a Saturday, make sure to check out the market. Check out Big Rock Falls for a nice swim up at Mountain Pine Ridge, of course the Mayan ruins and canoe the river at San Ignacio which Kate can arrange for you with Tony. Barton’s creek Cave was more expensive than what the guide books say and a bit over rated, but the caves were interesting and if you get a good guide quite entertaining. We were able to see many animals and birds at points during our explorations in the village and outside activities, including howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, and iguanas. Make a reservation soon as Kate and her home is getting popular and make sure to blow a kiss to Zadie for us!

  • A very comfortable and charming spot nestled in the trees. Kate was very helpful with information about the surrounding area.

  • Checo Hill Farm was an absolutely perfect spot for several days of relaxing, birding, and exploring the region (hiking, birding, Mayan ruins, markets, etc.). A beautiful location, perfect accommodations, and an incredible host. It made for a great extended family gathering.

  • Lovely place. Kate and Adam were very sweet and knowledgeable. Kate offers an excellent breakfast for a very reasonable price. The space was charming with lots of birds to watch from the veranda. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook with, but there are not many options nearby for groceries so make sure you stock up before you go!

  • We loved everything about our stay at Villa Cayo. We spent 4 nights on the top floor of the main house and two in one of the cabanas. Virginia and Ken were wonderful hosts and the entire staff at the house were friendly and helpful. We did several tours, visited the market on Saturday and spent some time relaxing at the house. All the amenities at the house were top notch and we cooked several meals and ate in. We loved the peace and beauty of the property and hope to stay again! This AirBnB is a gem and the owners are warm, wonderful people.

  • This place is a must-stay! The compound is custom built and it’s beautiful, clean, and quiet. Virginia is an exceptional host and provides great recommendations for local activities and logistics to and from San Ignacio. Coming home to this place after a long day of activities (ATM, cave tubing, zip lining) was absolutely perfect. Thank you Virginia!

    Hyun-Jae2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly one of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed at! The villa is absolutely fantastic with beautiful views and everything you could possible need. Virginia gave us detailed suggestions on everything we could possibly want, including tours, food, even grocery stores! We definitely wished we could have stayed longer here!

    Susan2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down a fantastic place to stay!! Villa Cayo is beautifully done and maintained. You are on the top of the hill in Santa Elena-if you rent a car make sure it has AWD since her driveway is steep. If you don't have a car, stock up on some groceries because the kitchen is on point. Bring your cameras too for the night sky! Also, have birds in the morning flocking about as well a toucan sighting or 2! Only regret is we didn't stay longer!

    Anita2019-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a must try location. It is close enough to town that you do not miss out on anything San Pedro has to offer, but it feels like you are in a gorgeous jungle resort, with an epic view. The hosts are exceptional and provided privacy but were always available if we needed anything at a moments notice. Not only would I stay here again, I would recommend this to anyone planning in visiting the San Ignacio area. Perfect Airbnb experience.

    Michael2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Villa Cayo is simply gorgeous! The views are breathtaking, the Villa is spacious, clean, and everything you could want in a home away from home. Virgina was great, provided wonderful suggestions on things to see & places to eat. Definitely the highlight of our time in Belize!

Peter and the family are very attentive and accommodating, and have great tips for making the most of your stay in San Ignacio.

    Kate2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A convenient location in San Ignacio with quick access to restaurants and other in town activities. The cabins are spacious and well cared for with a friendly and helpful host. Peter has contacts to provide outstanding guided activities and curbside pickup for transfers. I can’t say enough for the friendly and helpful assistance provided to us. Overall a great place for your visit!

    Henry2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in San Ignacio. The accommodations were perfect. I would recommend not waiting until the last day to get fryjacks for breakfast a two minute walk from the Compass property.

    Shelia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay...Peter and family were friendly and helpful hosts. They arranged a tour of Tikal for us (worth it). The house is located in a lovely garden where you can sit on the porch amongst so many birds and butterflies! You are surrounded by nature here, but close to town. We also enjoyed Xunantunich and the local market while we were here.

  • Very friendly and amazingly beautiful jungle home.

    Amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in San Ignacio! The property is beautiful and well maintained. You feel like you’re right in the jungle even though you’re right next to town. It’s a great jumping off point for tours as well, which Peter will help set up through a wonderful company that also provides airport transfers. Peter and the whole family were extremely friendly and informative. Whether it be for dining recommendations, directions or helping with baggage, we were taken care of from start to finish! We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back for a longer stay!

    Lisa Marie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accommodation in a garden more than alive with lots of wild animals visible from the accommodation, very comfortable bedding and friendliness of the owners.

  • We highly recommend peters place! The gorgeous plants and abundance of wildlife is amazing considering you’re still in town. Peter set up a tour for us and gave recommendations for the best fry jack place in Belize! When we come back to the area we’ll definitely be staying there again. Highly recommend.

My home is located on the west side of San Ignacio in a charming, traditional, Belizean neighborhood. It's about as local as it gets here and truly a slice of daily life here in Belize. Kay in the house next door bakes meat pies and johnny cakes for the local stores. Marlin has a little motorcycle repair shop next door. And the mayor lives around the corner from me. It's kind of interesting watching it all. Try relaxing in the garden balcony during sunset or the evening hours. It works for me.
My home is the upstairs apartment in a two story house so you only have the family downstairs. It's located in a traditional Belizean home built about 25 years ago. Even in hot weather it says relatively cool here due to the 12 foot ceilings, numerous windows, and floor fans. Don't mind the photography lighting or ladders. I occasionally convert the place into a photo studio. You do have air conditioning in both bedrooms. They are window units though. So please note that the location is fairly close to downtown. It's honestly a 10 minute walk. If you want to be on top of the action this is not the place for you. If a guest is going to ding me on ratings it's this point. I am all about food. Please feel free to cook. The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, full size refrigerator, oven/stove, and all the normal spices, herbs, and such. If it's in the cupboards then you're welcome to use it, no food in the freezer though. It's got a full compliment of pots, pans, baking pans, bowls, cups, and flatware as well. The dining table seats up to six and had place settings for as much. There's also hot and cold bottled drinking water on demand. Along with the normal items in the living room there's a charging station, 4K television with cable, internet, exercise bike, yoga mats, dumbbells, swiss ball, and ankle weights. Both bedrooms have firm queen beds, large closets, lamps, charging stations, and a local phone to use. The South Bedroom has a private bath. All baths have hot and cold showers. Both bedrooms now have air conditioning! The utility room has the washer and dryer. The dryer is a gas dryer if that makes a difference. There is off street parking.
It's really a pretty quiet residential neighborhood for Belize and Central America. You can just sit on the front balcony and watch folks go about their day. The mayor of San Ignacio lives three houses down the street. Restaurants, shops, grocery, tortillerias, the butcher, vegetable stands, fast food stands, and BBQ shacks are all around the corner on the main street. My neighbor Kay bakes Johnny Cakes and meat pies for many of the local stores so you can get breakfast by just asking her from the balcony. You do have to order the day before though.
  • Well, we liked San Ignacio and the apartment so much that we stayed an extra day! The communication with Ben was probably the best we have ever experienced on Airbnb, from the initial contact and instructions through departure. The apartment was perfect – like a home away from home. We were able to do some laundry ... and enjoyed watching the sunset from the deck. It’s a short walk into town, which we enjoyed, and the place is quite roomy and comfortable. If Ben’s place is available and you find yourself traveling to San Ignacio, book it!

    Tim2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A walk up the hill from downtown so a little less hectic yet very convenient. Wonderful to wake up listening to the local noises of the birds. Very reasonable rates. Very friendly town. We had an amazing time.

    Sally2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice time. The place has a lot of amenities. There’s only a/c in the bedrooms.

    Tony2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at bens place! He was so thoughtful and gave so many tips in the best way to reach San Ignacio from the airport. The place was very clean and had helpful information for all of the rooms. Would highly recommend due to the easy walking distance into the main part of San Ignacio.

    Katie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Benedicts place is beautiful! Very convenient location, easy walk down into downtown San Ignacio, and a short walk up to Cahal Pech Mayan archeological site. The place has all the amenities for cooking, plenty of cold drinking water from a water tower, beautiful balcony garden with a nice view over the jungle. There is a bit of noise from a small home mechanic shop next door, and the main road at the intersection during the day, but it was quiet through the night. All in all this was great value and a beautiful place to stay. Benedict was very helpful in providing useful local information as well

    Christoph2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Ben's place is everything you need and more. It is clean, spacious, has all the amenities you may need and you can even cook at his place--it's well stocked with everything. It is close enough to town you can walk or take the car. He provides very detailed instructions on how to check-in and how to get around. He has little placards all around the apartment about the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms which are a cute touch. We needed to stay an extra night at Ben's place due to an unforeseen change in our travel plans for work, and he easily accommodated us. It was a treat to stay there and we hope to be back soon!

    Adrianna2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a bit of trouble finding the place since we didn’t prepare enough beforehand to navigate to it easily, but that’s not Ben’s fault. They don’t seem to really use street signs and house numbers in Belize so that’s on us for not taking a screen shot of the map before we left the airport. Once we got there, though, we settled right in and walked to town for dinner (as recommended by Ben) and had a great time with excellent authentic food and drinks both nights. Felt safe and everyone in town was friendly.

This room is located in a house located literally minutes away form the hustle and bustle of down town San Ignacio. Directly in front of us is the now famous "Guava Limb" restaurant. A short 5 minute walk are the famous Farmers market, the Welcome center where the bus stop is located, and the pedestrian section of the Main street, Burns Avenue, where there are many bars, restaurants and tour operators. The local Maya ruins " Cahal Pech is some 20 minutes away walking.
  • Rafaels guest house was better than I had expected. He was extremely helpful and so welcoming. Rafael booked the ATM cave tour for us with Belize Caving Expeditions, we got a discount and the tour was brilliant. Great fully equipped kitchen. Beds are really comfortable. One of the best showers we've had in central america in both shared and private bathroom.

    Danielle2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great value in a great location. Plus Rafael gives great tips for how to spend your time!

    Ben2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Rafaels home. The place is well located a 10min walk from the main part of town and is in a quiet area. Our room was comfortable with a good bed and a/c. We were extremely lucky to have the common area and kitchen all to ourselves when we stayed and we made full use of both. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook your own meals and the common area had cable TV. Rafael also answered all our queries promptly. We highly recommend Rafaels home to stay at when in San Ignacio.

    Jon2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Rafael was a wonderful host, he made sure we had plans for the day and suggested local things if we wanted. The kitchen was great, good facilities, excellent wifi and Netflix even. All just a short walk up the road from the centre. Would recommend!

  • Always a great place to stay in San Ignacio. Close to everything you might need.

  • Rafael is a great host and the room was very comfy and clean.

    Maria2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Staff is spectacular. Location is within walking distance of all points of interest in town, including all the tours available to locations of interest outside of town. Moreover, I appreciate Rafael's effort in securing airport transportation. All staff members go the extra mile to ensure a wonderful experience. All needed aminities are readily available. You will not be disappointed, and I will stay here again.

    Timothy2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The location is really perfect! It's at the end of the busiest road in town. This makes it just far enough away to be quieter but its a super short walk to restaurants, the market, the bus station, and anything else you could need. Its a well known hostel so most tour groups shouldn't have a problem picking you up here, although it's a really short walk to get to all of the different tour group offices anyways. It was about a 20 min walk to Cahal Pech, a local mayan ruin site, and it's easy to find a taxi to most others in the area. The room itself was really nice. It was basic and simple but if you're just looking for a place to sleep this is great. the AC worked awesome and the rain shower head worked great. All the communal spaces were kept really clean. Definitely a great place to stay!

  • We stayed two nights in San Ignacio, and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. It was a 5-minute drive from nearly anything in San Ignacio, including all of the major restaurants and tour agencies. The place was comfortable, clean, stylish, and secure (padlocked gate and security system installed). Would book again if we return to Belize.

  • Clarify over the key fob alarm. Read the laminates for wifi password and enjoy the hammock;) This is an executive’s paradise. This was my second ever airbnb, buy cooking oil before stopping in. (I did.) Yard is huge, water is hot, no bugs and there are even geckos on the deck ceiling every night!!! ~Absolutely worth it;)

  • The location was great - close to down town San Ignacio, but much quieter than actually being down town. The foam mattress topper was SUPER comfortable.

  • Very clean, enjoyed our stay there. Everything was well thought out and we enjoyed having our own private place.. Little ways from town so if you don’t want to walk or take a taxi I would recommend renting a car. That being said taxi rides are cheap and plentiful. We didn’t mind walking and the people were great we never felt unsafe.

  • Located smack in the center of San Ignacio, Cayo this Cabana was still very private and secluded, which is why we enjoyed it so much, yet it was still only a 5 minute drive from the Center of Town. The Cabana is pretty new and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped including coffee maker, coffee and sugar. The hammock on the verandah was a nice touch where we laid and watched the full moon. I certainly Recommend.

  • Monica and Kurt’s place was amazing. It it was quiet, had clean, big rooms (living, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom) and lots of amenities (filtered water, cooking tools/utensils, Netflix on SmartTV, lots of towels, bug spray, back porch with a hammock, etc.). It is on the western outskirts of the town so you do have to walk ~20 min to get to the “downtown” area, but we came to enjoy the walks - it was nice to be away from the busy tourist-y area and walk through/get to know the rest of the city. The hosts were very responsive to messages and check-in was a breeze. I highly recommend this place!
