Places to stay in Queensferry
This ground floor apartment is situated in an historic building looking out to the ancient harbour on the River Almond. Situated 20 minutes from the city centre with regular bus route 41. There are many walks right from the doorstep; across a tidal causeway to Cramond Island, along the river past tumbling falls or along the long sandy beach.
This main door studio flat sits right on the promenade at Cramond. A beautiful view of the waterfront can be seen by looking out your window or walking out the front door. The accomodation is an open plan studio layout comprising kitchen area with breakfast bar, bedroom area, living area with sofa, TV, and fire, dining area looking out onto waterfront. The bathroom has a bath with shower. The kitchen has a microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, kettle and toaster if you would like to dine at home looking onto the waterfront or catch up with your washing. As soon as you walk out your front door you have immediate access to beautiful walks along the seashore or along the River Almond. There is a local pub round the corner, and two cafes serving breakfast, lunch and snacks and two shopping centres close at hand. The 41 bus takes you into town in 15 mins and Edinburgh airport is a 10 minute drive away. This is an ideal spot if you want to be able to enjoy all Edinburgh has to offer yet stay in a waterfront location.
Cramond is a beautiful picturesque village set on the historic Edinburgh waterfront.
  • Quiet studio appartment in a scenic location overlooking the water at Cramond. Although a studio appartment it is large enough for a couple of people spending a few days away. The appartment had everything I needed and I had a very nice stay and a good sleep. An additional bonus was that I was able to take my small dog with me. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Historic village. Fantastic view. Half an hour from Edinburgh Centre.
This is our home, so you will be living amongst our books and papers. It is not suitable for small children or pets (sorry). However, there is a stair lift up to the apartment, a walk-in shower, and many grab rails around the place, which makes it very suitable for the elderly (and others, of course). Our smaller bedroom accommodates two single people in bunk beds, and/or the sofa folds down easily to make a small double bed, if you prefer this. (Please note, it this room is not suitable for tall or large guests.) If you book the whole apartment, you can also use our larger bedroom which has a double bed with two separate (very firm) mattresses, each with its own massage feature. Contact us first, to ask about prices if you wish to have the whole flat. (We are usually happy to vacate the apartment and take a few days’ break away ourselves.) The house is 15-20 minutes from the airport by bus or car. If we are not here to meet you, our neighbour, Chris Keast, will give you the key, and show you round. Checkout time is 11am. Check-in by arrangement. All we ask is that you respect our neighbours by coming and going quietly from the building. You will love our view of the famous Forth Road and Rail Bridges. The Rail Bridge is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. And a new bridge, the Queensferry Crossing, opened on 30 August 2017. We are one minute's walk from the centre of Queensferry, a beautiful, historic village with many excellent restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops. There are many nice walks, and boat trips nearby. The surrounding area is also very green. (We are overlooking the cycle track on one side.) Scotmid Supermarket is less than five minutes along the cycle track. (We advise you to park there as our street is very narrow, and not really suitable for large cars.) Public transport to/from Edinburgh is very easy. The stop is at the end of our street. You can help yourself to cereal, coffee, tea etc for breakfast. We are also happy for you to use our washing machine, iron and ironing board. You will have your own key so that you can come and go as you please. We can also help you plan your trip and suggest great places to visit in Scotland. There is also a large selection of books, maps and tourist leaflets.) Getting to/from Edinburgh The Edinburgh bus is a large green double decker number 43 or 43x. It stops at the end of our street, two or three minutes away. Buses to Edinburgh are every 15-20 minutes during the daytime, and the journey to Edinburgh takes 35 minutes (longer in traffic). An all-day fare to travel around Edinburgh costs £5. The last bus from Edinburgh is 11.15pm. (Please note: this might make it difficult to see any late shows during the Edinburgh Festival, unless you have a car.) The nearest train station is Dalmeny Station, a 15-minute walk from here. The journey to/from Edinburgh (Waverley Station) is around 15 minutes. An off-peak return costs around £5. The last train from Edinburgh is 11.15pm. PARKING. We live in a single-track road. There is no parking outside the house, except to unload. We do not have a problem with this, but you may have to reverse if you meet another car. If you have a large car, or you are nervous about reversing, you should perhaps not book with us. (Or see below for more information.) We recommend you park in Scotmid supermarket car park, opposite Stoneycroft Road, on The Loan. From the supermarket (Scotmid), there is an easy walk along the cycle track to our house. Opposite the supermarket, on the far side of the car park, there is a cycle track which runs under a bridge (behind the recycling bins). After three lampposts, there are two small black gates in the wall on your left. This gate connects to Stoneycroft Road and you are only 50 metres from Lilybank House -- that name is above the black door. Once you reach our building, we are the third name in the list. (Faulkner/McIntosh). However, our neighbour, Chris Keast, also has a key and can show you round if we are not here. Parking at the supermarket is free but limited to three hours. However, if you arrive after 1pm, you can stay all night until noon next day. (The attendant told us this -- he goes home at 4pm, and starts at 9am next day!) Our photographs give you a good idea of the parking, and the walking route from there along the cycle track to our house (2 minutes). You can also park around the corner, near Queensferry Parish Church on The Loan, except on Sunday mornings, when the church is busy and you have to park on the opposite side. Please ask if you have any further questions.
Now for some suggestions for your visit. (You can look most of these up on their own websites.) Everyone who visits Edinburgh MUST visit to the Royal Mile on the High Street, which runs from the Edinburgh Castle right down to Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament. This is the oldest part of town. (Being generous Scots, we give you more -- it's actually a mile and a quarter.) Almost all museums and art galleries are free, and there are plenty on the Royal Mile. We love The People's Story, The Edinburgh Museum, and The Museum of Childhood. I can also give you a code for "Rabbie's Tours", which gives you 10% discount if you book on-line. Short car trips: If you are a fan of the TV series, Outlander, you will be pleased to know that many of the film locations are within 20-30 minutes drive from us. We can supply a map and directions. For a whole day trip, St Andrews is a lovely old town (with the world-famous golf course). You should then return via the coastal route, (the area is called The East Neuk). This includes attractive fishing villages such as Anstruther or Pitttenweem. Falkirk (on this side of the river) has two major new visitors' attractions: The Kelpies – a HUGE art structure of two horses heads. And the Falkirk Wheel – an amazing piece of unique engineering. We highly recommend both these, but you do need a car. Aberdour is a nice little town with castle, gardens, and beach. Dollar has a magnificent walk from Dollar Glen to Castle Campbell. And, of course, there is South Queensferry, our beautiful little village. If you are eating out, you could try Antico, a nice restaurant opposite the Clock Tower. (You want watch the lights come up over the bridge when it gets dark.) If you prefer an old-world experience, you could eat at The Hawes Inn, opposite the Rail Bridge. (Some of our visitors visit both -- they have a meal in one restaurant, then walk along the waterside, and have coffee or a drink in another.)
  • Lovely clean flat in a great location. Joyce is a wonderful hostess and would recommend this to anyone

    Gregor2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Joyce greeted us with warmth and hospitality above all expectations. She stayed up late on arrival night to give us guidance and help for our future trip segments. She contacted other hosts on a private Facebook site to give us help. The winter weather is so iffy that we needed local guidance. The accommodation was fine. Massage bed great. Next morning breakfast was a special porridge with fruit and yogurt and honey. It lasted us ALL day. After departing, I had a problem with my rental car and had to come back to her house to make a phone call and she helped me out so much. We really felt like family. Absolutely stay at this accommodation!

    Wendy2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The best host to help you explore Edinburgh and provide some great local tips of the area! And her Scottish breakfast is a must try!!

    David2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Joyce was a lovely host. We felt absolutely welcomed and right at home.

    Franziska2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This fantastic AirBnB exceeded our expectations on every level. Joyce is a superb host and gave us clear direction on how to get the very most out of our short stay, including local information about the town, walks, where to eat and what to expect; followed by the most celestial home-cooked breakfast in the morning. Jim’s warm humorous interactions were heartfelt and the two make a formidable team. The room is small but cozy, and I watched the sun rise over the Firth Bridge from the comfort of my bedroom window. Scenic walks, riding trails, excellent pubs and restaurants right outside the house. Facilities including a chairlift and an assisted shower could come in handy for travelers who have special needs. I will definitely go back and can highly recommend this experience as a “must do”. Thank you Joyce and Jim. Xxx

    Alison2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Joyce & Jim were delightful friendly hosts who were helpful in so many ways. Their home is very convenient to the bus stop for Edinburgh, a grocery store, and the village itself. We were happy to discover that Queensferry still feels more like a quaint coastal village more than a suburb of Edinburgh. Our stay in Queensferry with J&J turned out to be a great ending for a visit to Scotland. Thanks!

    Dayle2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a comfortable place to stay near Edinburgh, this is definitely for you. The sleepers were overheated and the conversation went smoothly from the beginning. The coziness and the details made us feel really homely. In addition, Joyce's breakfast was the best we've eaten porridge here, I recommend !. The house would be located in a nice quiet area. Queensferry village on the boardwalk with nice restaurants and nightclubs that were presented. We told our hiking plans to Joyce and he was ready to help us in the planning. Visiting them is nice and warm.

    Lauri2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • You will never forget your stay with Joyce and Jim, it’s a fully memorable experience at a wonderful location. Both couldn’t be more helpful

Looking for a relaxing-stylish place located in a jaw dropping setting, then you have come to the right place. On top of that, we will provide you with complimentary breakfast vouchers to enjoy at Manna House Patisserie. And... You will be staying in what we describe as the gateway to Scotland. Whether it is a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh airport, the start of your journey to the Highlands, or a saunter into the capital city, Edinburgh, our location has some of the best access to Scotland.
You will arrive on the terrace, literally on the front of South Queensferry, and wind your way up two short flights up a spiral staircase and then upstairs to your ensuite room to our lovely loft conversion. Sorry we don't have sufficient disabled access. Our room has windows on either side, with slightly restricted views of the three bridges. Guests are invited to enjoy our ensuite guest bedroom at their leisure. As South Queensferry is a gorgeous town, we want you to enjoy all the fab views, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and boat trips on offer. It has everything you need to keep you entertained, fed and watered. While we are happy to share our upstairs space with you, our kitchen, living room and other spaces downstairs will remain private. We kindly ask you to respect our friendly neighbourhood. We love our neighbours and keen to keep them happy and feeling safe when new friends (you) come to visit. Due to the delicate furnishings and for the purposes of hygiene and cleanliness, we also kindly ask you not to eat in your bedroom (breakfast, lunch, dinner). We are happy for you to have snacks (crisps, biscuits, coffee etc). If you smoke, we ask you to do this away from the house, across the road by the benches where you will have one of the best views in the world to enjoy this with. Please do not smoke in common areas around the house or within the house.
We pinch ourselves everyday with the location we live in. We literally have front row seats of the world heritage site, the Forth Bridge. We love to pop down to Manna House, just beneath us, everyday to pick up a coffee, a loaf of bread, a cake or two and may be even stay for breakfast or lunch. Manna is also ideal for food to go. Scott's in Port Edgar (10min walk along the front) have a brilliant range of food and drink all day long as does the Rail Bridge Cafe. With three bridges to explore, you can't come to South Queensferry without going on a boat trip and getting up close to these magnificent structures as well as the surrounding islands and sea life. You might even see some puffins, seals and porpoises.
  • Fantastic place to stay and Ruth is a great host

    John2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is a fabulous host. We would stay here again in a flash. Brilliant location in an amazing historic house; stylish and sparklingly clean room and bathroom. Thoughtful touches such a Nespresso machine, breakfast voucher for Manna House bakery (wonderful) and White Company toiletries and towels, twinkly lights to show the way home through the passage. We can’t rate this highly enough. Room and bed much larger than the photo shows.

    Lisa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most lovely time! Ruth and Mark where fantastic hosts and we enjoyed our time in their lovely and cosy room. We'd love to stay here again and warmly recommend this place. Thanks for a wonderful weekend! :) :) //Lotta and Edward

  • A wonderful location in a lovely little town with stunning views and a very convenient base for visiting Edinburgh. Ruth was very welcoming and kind and there were lots of thoughtful little touches. We'll definitely be back!

    Ellie2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth and Mark could not have done more-greeted by warming candle light, a gin and tonic, cosy fire going, it was the perfect start to my short business trip. The space is beautifully done with tales of their home on Skye woven throughout which was a nice touch! And the view from their lounge is to die for. Very cute place but the warm hosts really made it.

    Lauren2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Superb small suite on the floor of Ruth's apartment. A warm welcome, where we were seduced by the kindness of Ruth, the charm of the room and the location. Perfect cleanliness when we went, room at good temperature in the month of November, it is appreciable :) We will return without problem if the opportunity to present again!

    Mathilde2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was genuinely the best airbnb experience I've had. The room was beautiful and the location excellent. What made this outstanding was the welcome I got from Ruth and Mark-they were so friendly and really made my trip one to remember. Touches like the bakery and little treats in the room were the cherry on top of an already fabulous cake. Honestly cannot recommend enough and I hope to visit again someday.

  • Marie's place is located at the gate of Edinburgh, with all amenities you will require for travel. It is good value for money, especially travelling with family. Car journey to Edinburgh central is about 30min, to airport about 14min, to local supermarket 5min. You can drive passing the firth of forth, to Stirling, to Glasgow, all within 1hours. South Queensferry itself is a lovely town with the unusual view of 3bridges crossing the river Forth. Recommend for tourists who would explore a little more about Scotland.

  • Fantastic flat, really nicely furnished with a great backyard/deck area which would be awesome in the summer. Easy to commute to Edinburgh in about 40 mins by bus or 30 by taxi and Queensferry south itself is just a short walk away. Marie was super helpful especially with additional information around getting in and out of Edinburgh on new years which was a huge help. Would definitely recommend.

Stunning location next to shops and bus stop. Can simply relax and enjoy the unique location with a beautiful view of forth road bridges or use as a base to head into Edinburgh or over to Fife. I live with a small toddler and 3 bunnies who are highly amusing not to mention the 9 chickens and a rooster that reside in the garden. We are a quirky bunch but we have a warm welcome and a positive outlook. We want to ensure you have a memorable stay. Come as a stranger, stay as a guest and leave as a friend.
You have the living room that is about the only peaceful place in the flat to hide away. It has Netflix and Amazon plus WiFi. Of course if you love to spend time with bunnies and a baby then you are welcome to venture into our living space. However, if you want to feel like the only folk in the place then your access to the bathroom and kitchen is close to your room and we will respect your privacy. The garden is a working progress but still a lovely place to sit out and take in the view of the forth road bridge and be amused by the ex battery hens who are curious and keen to get to know you. I have a resident hedgehog who is the latest to join the clan not to mention all the wild birds who are not shy to eat from the feeding stations in close proximity of the viewing platform.
Short walk to South Queensferry hugh street, shop and bus stop. Free onstreet parking
  • Anne is a wonderful person and host. Her child is very cute and loving. She is very helpful and gave as many tips about surroundings and offered us home cooked food and wine. The house was very clean and very close to transport and convenience stores. The view from Anne’s house is breathtaking and the animals keep the place lively. We felt like staying at home. Would definitely recommend this place. I would love to stay again. Thanks Anne!!

    Joseph2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant experience, anne is warm and friendly, her son is very cute! The house is very close to the 43 bus, a few steps away. It is very convenient to walk about 15 minutes from the Dalmeny Railway Station. I live here. I used the Europass to take the train to and from Edinburgh or Glasgow. The opposite of the house is A relatively large supermarket, it is very convenient to buy daily necessities, fruits and vegetables, and the city is very quiet and the red bridge in the propaganda map of the anne house is very clear in her home, very beautiful! Recommend to her home!

  • Very welcome to Anne who is also extremely friendly! Good base to visit Edinburgh, bus line 2 min from the house to the city center (30min drive) and another line 10min to the airport. Queensferry is a pretty little town with a harbor, lively pubs at night with live concert.

    Hélène2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home. Anne holds completely the Airbnb spirit. Spent just one night but we would definitely repeat.

  • Such an amazing little place. So chilled out. Very homely amazing views. Very clean. You can’t help but smile when you walk in. Parking is tight but there’s a free car park in rose lane which is two minutes away. I can’t rate this place highly enough

  • Lovely flat in a great location for exploring the Edinburgh area.

    Nathalie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Michelle’s place while working near south queensferry. Very quick responses, lovely apartment. Very easy to check in and accommodating as we were working late hours for check in and sofa bed was made up for us on request. Easy access to pubs and amenities.

    Bruce2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time staying at this lovely, well appointed one bedroom flat. We booked this for location as we were at a family wedding at Orocco Pier and it is literally a stones throw from the hotel, you can see it from the window, it’s that close. The flat was more spacious than we imagined, very clean and welcoming. Michelle and Dave, our hosts, had left a thoughtful welcoming pack which was very appreciated and were only a phone call away should we need them. I loved everything about this accommodation but particularly the view of the Forth Bridge is one to behold being so close! I would not hesitate to recommend this flat to family and friends.

    Donna2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's place was great; clean, close to pubs and restaurants, really homely with loads of nice touches. Only issue was parking; had to park on the street due to no space at the rear of the property.

Only 20 minutes from Edinburgh Airport by taxi. A beautiful modern family home right next to Forth Bridges and Dalmeny train station and 20 mins to centre of Edinburgh. An ideal, peaceful spot from which to enjoy Edinburgh at all times but particularly during the Edinburgh Festival when the city is choked with visitors. A great starting and finishing point for touring (cycling) the North of Scotland. We are literally 5 minutes from Fife. A simple self-service breakfast (buffet) is provided.
20 years old, detached family home with extensive, beautiful mature garden with conservatory that guests may use. Kids are away so we are renting one of their bedrooms.
Peaceful, friendly with wide street. Houses are all detached four bed villas.
  • I've stayed regularly with Mark & Jeana - great hosts and a very comfortable, clean and quiet house. All the facilities you expect - very quiet location but few minutes walk or drive to station for trains to edinburgh, local shops, restaurants, pubs and the river and bridges/

    Christopher2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed with Mark & Jeana a number of times and they are always very friendly and accommodating. A very comfortable and clean house and room in a great location. 5 mins walk to station with direct links to Edinburgh (19 mins) and short walk/drive into South Queensferry with all its facilities.

    Christopher2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mark & Jeana are great hosts with a very comfortable and welcoming home. Great location for the bridges, South Queensferry High St and all of the local amenities - plenty of local shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs as well as the bigger supermarkets within short walk or drive. Great for Edinburgh as Dalmeny station only a few minutes walk with direct link to Edinburgh only 19 minute journey. Plenty of safe parking outside, great en-suite shower, good wifi and TV!

    Christopher2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value, lovely hosts. Great for the airport.

    Peter2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night at Mark And Jeana's place on our way back home from our road trip around Scotland. The location was perfect for us as we had an early fight the next day and it is only 20 min drive to the airport. The room and en suite bathroom were both clean and bed was comfortable. Jeana was a warm and welcoming host. We highly recommend the place.

    Trpimir2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Jeana are perfect hosts! They were great to communicate with and their home is such a perfect quiet respite after my busy week of travel. They are kind and generous. Will absolutely be coming back

    Wendy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Jeana’s place is great! Only about a 5 minute walk to the Dalmeny station which is great for getting into the city. The room was clean and Mark was there to greet us when we arrived. Would absolutely stay again!

    Lauren2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The last day of the Scottish trip was fortunate to have chosen Mark And Jeana's home. The house is 15 minutes drive from the airport. It takes about 30 minutes by train from the city. The room is warm and tidy, and the toiletries are complete. The kitchen is shared, the landlord is very warm, please drink alcohol, coffee and tea, and drink and talk. Just like in your own home. I especially like the big dog at the landlord's house, I hope it will stay healthy all the time.

My home is convenient for the Airport and other travel connections; and is 4 minutes walk from a bus stop with frequent buses to Edinburgh city centre (30 mins journey approx.) However, SOUTH QUEENSFERRY is a beautiful ,interesting and historic place to spend time in for its own sake. Why not ask me for more information ?
I really enjoy living in this neighbourhood. I have lovely neighbours ,who respect one another's privacy but who are there to help when needed. The people are friendly and I often enjoy walking around just admiring the gardens ,or the view of our beautiful new bridge.
  • Dear Anne, We have safely arrived back home in Riga and just want to thank you for your kind hospitality. It sounds like we're flattering you, but, truly, we felt at home the second we arrived at 3:30 a.m. The beds are so comfortable and your signs in Latvian just warmed our hearts. After waking and realising where we were, you served us a royal breakfast. You then provided us with the correct change to take a bus. Thankfully, because we had just gotten off a delayed flight and there wasn't any place to change money. All in all, we just felt your authentic hospitality and were thankful we could stay with you. Thank you also for getting up this morning at 4:00 a.m. and providing us with Plan B for getting to the airport. We would highly recommend you to anyone. Anna and Daina:):)

    Anna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is very welcome and a great host, who made me and my daughter feel very much at ease and welcome into her home. Everything was perfect and she couldn't have done enough for our short overnight stay. Lovely, lovely person and the house was very clean which is in a great location to explore South Queensferry and the surrounding areas. Comfy beds and a great range of teas, etc. to choose from. Definitely recommend anyone to stay at Anne's abode, she was the perfect host.

    Darren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is truly a great host, she welcomed us with open arms in her charming and warm little house where all comfort is available. The room was very comfortable and very clean, as was the bathroom. Thank you again Anne for your hospitality and your very correct French !!

    Flora2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A great bed and breakfast. Anne is super nice and very welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic! Do not hesitate !!!

    Greg2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a warm welcome by Anne. Lovely semi detached little house with two guest beds in our room. Fabulous choice of hot teas to sip, not to mention the “cup o soup” selection! Our early morning departure was no trouble for our hostess, who got up and made us toast and a cafetière of REAL coffee which was most appreciated! A wee gem in Edinburgh with a terrific view of the Forth Bridge. Full marks to Anne. Thanks so much! ❤️

    Devon2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s house was so clean and cosy. We had twin beds in a lovely little room. Anne had provided so many kind touches such as tea and biscuits, new toothbrushes if we had forgotten ours and a big extension plug under each bed to plug all our tech in. The beds were so comfy! We were just passing through but Anne’s house would be a perfect spot to explore Edinburgh from. It was nestled right next to the Forth Road Bridge which we visited at night. Anne was so friendly and helpful, even getting us up at 4am to get our flight. We flew out just before storm Dennis- so lucky. We will definitely look to book Anne’s house again x

    Gill2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Hi Anne, Thanks for letting us use your kitchen and making sure we were awake for our very early flight! You are a wonderful host. Cheers, Mathias

Nestled just behind the historic High street of the seaside town of Queensferry in Edinburgh. A double upper villa with stunning views out over the Firth of Forth and the famous historic Forth Rail Bridge. Quick easy access to centre of Edinburgh
This spacious double upper historic villa is set over two floors. The living room is on the top floor to make the most of the stunning views. There are three large double bedrooms, two with double beds and one with a pull out double bed. There is a small private terrace and a beautiful courtyard garden that is shared with the two small flats below one of which I also own. My neighbour doesn't have direct access to the garden so hardly ever uses it and it is myself that looks after it and who mainly uses it. I stay at the apartment occasionally when it is not rented out and I do have a small dog. As you can see from the reviews the apartment is to a high standard and very clean, but please be aware if you suffer from any pet allergies.
What I love about Queensferry is that it has the feel of a seaside village and a lovely community feel about it, but within only 1/2 hour you can be in the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Edinburgh city centre. It is also ideally situated for excellent/easy access to the North of Scotland and the Highlands. Queensferry has wonderful beaches within walking distance, a marina with access to water sports, boat trips, countryside walks, historical ghost walks and a museum - fantastic restaurants, cafe's, bars and shops. There is a supermarket within a few minutes walking distance from the house.
  • Really fab place right in the centre of beautiful south Queensferry. All amenities right on your doorstep, pubs, cafes shops etc. We had a lovely walk right from the door out of town along the seafront, fab scenery. Lorna couldn't have been more welcoming and met us on arrival to show us round and was on hand for any queries we may have had. The place is well kept and very homely and cosy with lots of quirky touches. Would really recommend this place to anyone staying in the Queensferry area.

    Helen2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and comfortable too. Very close to amenities in lovely village of S Queensferry. We had great time visiting family and exploring area.

    Angus2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lorna's place was the perfect location for our winter get away, it had amazing views, was steps from the sea and local amenities and only a short train ride into Edinburgh city centre. My sisters and I had a large double bedroom each and the upstairs living space was stylish and comfortable. Lorna's home has warmth and we were met and made very welcome, including lovely touches such as fresh flowers and grocery essentials. Donn't hesitate to book this place, you will love it!

    Lena2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazingly stylish and cosy home! Perfect location for exploring the wee shops and eating places in SQ with cracking views of the bridges from upstairs and the birds from the kitchen downstairs. Lorna made us feel really welcome when she met us on arrival. Highly recommended!

    Lisa2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this air bnb for some family visiting me in queensferry - Lorna was super helpful and flexible about check-in, and my brother and his family fell in love with this beautiful home.

    Debs2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Its a dream location, inside and out it was amazing. Everything worked! :) Lorna took special care to ensure things were "just right for us". Close to restaurants and pubs in Queensferry.

    Ross2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space. Very stylish. Great location.

    Joanne2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in Lorna’s house. The house was completely clean and drenched in sunlight. The comfortable beds were already made up with freshly laundered sheets and Lorna thoughtfully included milk and tea for our arrival. Communication was easy and prompt. The location couldn’t be better. Literally steps away from High Street with its gorgeous view of the three bridges, a rocky beach with excellent skipping stones and sea glass, and restaurants, ice cream parlors, and cafes (though only two open before 9am). A close walk to the grocery store as well as the pier to catch a ferry to take you around or on Inchcolm island but a bit of a hike to the train station. Half an hour away from busy Edinburgh, South Queensferry is a gem. We loved our stay here and highly recommend Lorna’s place.

Bright double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. My house is in a very quiet cul-de-sac. Please feel welcome to use kitchen, sitting room and outdoor decking area. Dalgety Bay has easy access by car, bus or train to Edinburgh (25 minutes). Ideally situated for St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Fife Coastal routes.
Please feel free to use the sitting room but if you just want privacy this room is ideal as it is quite separate from the other living areas.
My home is a short walk to the sea. Dalgety Bay has many lovely walks to explore in addition to being part of the Fife Coastal Path walk. It also has an active sailing club. Aberdour is a neighbouring village and is home to two beautiful beaches, a harbour, castle, golf course and a choice of traditional pubs and shops. If you want a bit of history, I would recommend visiting Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland. It has a wide number of historical venues such as the royal palace, a 12th century abbey (which is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce) and the burial site of 11 other Scottish kings and queens.

  • Julie’s apartment was perfect for our stay over New Year with our two year old daughter. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped and the children’s toys came in handy! The welcome pack was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. We were met by Julie’s parents, David and Jeanette, who were very friendly and helpful and gave us information about the local area. We were sorry not to have a bit more time to explore the local restaurants and shops and would happily stay again if in the area.

This contemporary studio is beautifully set with the famous Forth Bridges to the front and railway trail to the rear. Clever design allows the glass fronted living space to accommodate living, sleeping and cooking comfortably. The picturesque seaside town of South Queensferry is less than 10 miles from Edinburgh and has excellent transport links. If you wish to travel further Queensferry is excellently positioned to get to the rest of Scotland's attractions. Its simply a lovely place to stay!
  • An amazing location, hidden along a hillside looking over the village and close to a rail trail... Sparking clean, efficient and modern. Wonderful view and caring hosts.

  • Housing with a great view and a very cozy interior. Small but very well done. We were perfectly comfortable at 4 with our children. The room made them think of a cabin and they loved it! Alison was very responsive to our questions and very pleasant. Perfectly located to visit Edinburgh, we took bus 43 which leads directly to the city center. I highly recommend !

    Celine2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Alison is truly a super host - lightning fast responses with a smile. The space was perfect for our family of 4, the view was fantastic and location was great with good eating options and supermarkets close by. A good base to explore Edinburgh with easy connectivity to the tourist areas. The house is kitted with all amenities and proved to be a very comfortable space to be in.

  • Stylish space well thought out with all one can need. Overlooking wonderful views of the Forth bridges. Alison was really helpful when we had a query and when we had left something behind. It was great that she responded so quickly and took a great deal of personal care to make us comfortable. I thoroughly recommend the Nook!!

    Jane2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great few days in the Nook. The flat was perfect for 3 of us exploring some of Queensferry and surroundings for a few days. We were lucky to catch some beautiful sunsets from the deck which made it even more special. Thank you!

  • Super little apartment with stunning views of the Forth Bridges. Located in lovely South Queensferry, a hop and a skip away from great restaurants and the waterfront. Private parking for a single car. Short walk up hill to train station. Great for 2 folks working (1 bedroom, 1 easy fold down bed in the lounge) to small family on holiday (bunk bed for up to 3 in bedroom). Great host available for advice if needed. Spotless property, great shower, towels and well kitted out kitchen. Coop in SQ, Large Tesco a short drive away. Highly recommended!

  • My partner and I traveled regularly before we had our son 2 years ago, and we always stayed in hotels purely for convenience and ease. This was our first trip as a family of three and, as our son has allergies, we thought it best to cater for ourselves, so looked into renting an apartment. We wanted to take our son to Edinburgh Zoo, but wanted somewhere peaceful and quiet to stay. My partner took to TripAdvisor to look for somewhere suitable and came across The Nook, which I then found on AirBnB. I contacted Alison asking a few questions regarding a possible reservation and she could not have been more helpful! I went on to make the reservation with Alison, and I also went on to ask a few more questions (as previously stated, this was our first time not staying in a hotel/B&B and we weren’t quite sure how things worked)! Alison was patient, polite, prompt and super helpful in each of her replies! It was our son’s birthday during the stay at the Nook and Alison kindly organised a balloon for our son and suggested age appropriate activities for us, as well as providing tips to “book ahead” or book online to obtain the best prices. The apartment itself was easy to find (with the sat nav), had ample room for the three of us and was more than spotlessly clean!! It was perfectly situated and has a stunning view of the three bridges! We had an amazing trip and a fabulous stay at The Nook, with thanks to Alison.

Our new build CALA home was only completed in Mach 2017 and comes with all modern amenities. Myself and my husband are keen to welcome guests to enjoy it. You will have use of your own double bedroom and private bathroom. South Queensferry is a beautiful town situated on the banks of the Firth of Forth. Dalmeny train station is 5min walk frm our home and trains take less than 10mins into Edinburgh. Our home is also only 8miles from Edinburgh Airport.
  • I have stayed with Sarah a number of times - a great host and a very quiet and comfortable house, very clean, modern room with large bath/show room for guests only. Short drive or walk into South Queensferry with all facilities - pubs, cafes restaurants , independent shops as well as major supermarkets nearby - and of course the bridges. Dalmeny station is 5 minutes walks away with very regular direct trains to Edinburgh (19 mins). The house has parking outside, great wifi and use of kitchen.

  • Despite right next to a road it's a very relaxing and comfy apartment. It's a stone throw away from the train station and a bus stop; travelling is not an issue. The included welcome pack of tea and coffee basket is charming and welcoming. A nice and spacious lounge with an attached small, cute kitchen is suitable for everyday food and drink preparation. The bedroom has plenty of space for clothing to be stored in the wardrobes and drawers. The bed is comfy and warm. I will definitely consider staying there again if I visit Scotland again.

    Daniel2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is perfectly situated for the train traveller, the CoOp and bus stops. Suited us really well. Christina kindley stocked the fridge with milk, orange juice butter and bread/cereal also tea coffee and hot chocolate. It's a nice journey over the bridge into Edinburgh.

The prefix South serves to distinguish it from North Queensferry, on the opposite shore of the Forth. Has great wee pubs and restaurants Best town outside Edinburgh

  • Christine’s place was the perfect stay for us. The location was so easy to get to, 15 mins by train from Edinburgh Waverly and then just a short walk to her house or down to the water front. She recommended great places to eat and things to do in the area. We had an early flight the next morning and chose to take a taxi which took only 15 mins. Everything was great with this stay, we would definitely go back!

  • Barbara is a loving and warm hostess. She is very attentive and you feel good. Great house. I can only recommend it to everyone.

    Johanna2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara is a very humorous, funny and wonderful person. The first day we arrived at midnight. She was waiting for us all the time. She stayed for three days and prepared a rich breakfast for us every morning. On the first day, I personally took us to take a bus to show us where Edinburgh is fun. On the last day we will go back and drive us to the bus stop in person. Every day during this period, we chatted happily with her, knowing that we had a child, and prepared gifts for us. The location of the house is also very good, there is a bus stop outside, you can see the beautiful Fox Bridge. I like her very much and highly recommend her home to people who come to Edinburgh for self-driving tours.

    丽贞2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a good time at Barabaras home. She is very guest-friendly and we had two awesome breackfasts. The location is lovely with a photospot of the bridges in walking distance and you can take the 43 bus into the city center for 2.70£ (40min but nice ride).

  • Barbara hosted my parents for three days, and had an incredible stay. The place is beautiful, easy to find, and well located, and their room were comfortable and very clean. Barbara was a model host, cooked a wonderful breakfast, gave indications on where to park and how to get to the station, and was very friendly. Both my parents are french and speak a bit of english, and between their english and Barbara's french, they managed to have great conversations. Thank you!

Picturesque seaside cottage, steps from the water, 5 minutes from the train station. Ideal base for exploring Edinburgh (20 minutes away by train) or visiting the beautiful Kingdom of Fife (Aberdour, Anstruther, St Andrews). The property has a private back garden in the shadow of the Forth Rail Bridge (now a UNESCO world heritage monument), and is situated down a quaint cobbled lane that is closed to traffic. A little piece of heaven under the three bridges.
The property is traditional on the exterior (dating from the late 18th century), but inside is modern. Open plan downstairs, two separate bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Main bedroom is large and features a chaise longue and a desk area. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes. Bathroom has bath, shower, sink and heated towel rail.
Steps away from a great cafe/deli for morning coffees and tasty lunches, and just round the corner from a Michelin-noted restaurant (https://www.theweerestaurant.co.uk/) serving first class Scottish fare. Just across the Forth Bridge is Port Edgar, Edinburgh's harbour for sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Deep Sea World is 5 minutes round the corner.
  • We love this little house. It’s cosy, clean and really well kitted out. There’s some lovely design touches and it feels very homely. North Queensferry is a lovely spot. The cafe at the end of the lane is great, and The Wee Restaurant is lovely too. There’s a brand end playpark for the kids at the end of the road, as well as a lighthouse and little beach. I highly recommend this house, you won’t be disappointed!

  • Awsome location!

    Craig2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the cottage for Christmas week. A lovely cottage down a cobbled street in the most peaceful village. Andrew had taken the time to put up a Christmas tree & other decorations, which was a thoughtful and very much appreciated. The cottage was clean and well presented with modern decor and a comfortable size. The cottage is dog friendly, however please be aware, the local pub isn't. we would return to the cottage should we need to escape the madness, again. we would recommend the cottage & Andrew as a host.

    Victoria2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my wife and our toddler for a few nights. The cottage is located right in the heart of the village in the shadow of the Forth Bridge. Yes - you can hear the trains but it certainly doesn’t disturb and for us, enhanced the visit. The cottage itself is homely yet beautifully presented with lots of wonderful Modern Movement touches, including a Corbusian chaise in one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is well stocked and there’s even a little garden which caught the afternoon sun long enough to enjoy a couple of glasses of wine before dinner. Communication and check in with Andrew was super easy. Would highly recommend.

    James2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy cottage in a brilliant location with everything you need. Ideal for couples or families of 4. Only 7 minute walk to the railway station and from there 25 mins into Waverley. Great place to stay.

    Douglas2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived at the house our eyes were out on stalks, not only at the mind blowing setting of being literally in the shadow of the forth bridges towering above, but at the utterly charming picture postcard cobbled streets and lanes. The house itself is really clean but above all very tastefully decorated. The train station is a five, eight minute walk where you can take the train into Edinburgh. Our only problem was having to come to terms with the fact that we'd been so stupid in not booking a longer stay here. Fabulous. Highly recomended.

  • Clean and comfortable apartment with plenty of storage space. We easily walked to the centre of South Queensferry where there are plenty of pubs, cafes and eating places and, of course, great views of the three bridges. It's uphill on the way back but we didn't find that a problem as it isn't too steep. Good bus service into Edinburgh with stops very close to the apartment. Happy to recommend it.

  • Great modern apartment, stayed for Christmas with my husband and daughter. Lovely furnishings, felt very at home there. Apartment had everything you needed. Location was brilliant, handy having tesco's so close to do a food shop. Would definitely stay again. Only down side is, there's 3 flights of stairs to the apartment, which might not be suitable to everyone.
