Take in the view of Corozal Bay from the rooftop or relax in privacy on the porch. Roomy cabana outside of Corozal has AC, hot water and lots of fluffy towels. The mini kitchen has a microwave, stove, refrigerator and sink.
La Horizon Cabana is one big room with a bath and a mini-kitchen. There is an armoire to store your belongings and a dining table with 2 chairs. There is cable TV we provide a DVR for watching movies and wifi for internet. Please note, the wifi is slow, 2.0 mbs, but adequate.
While there is no beach, you can swim in the bay at the seawall. Corozal is not a tourist haven, just a small bustling farming town close to the Mexican border. There are several Mayan sites close by but no real nightlife.
  • This is a great place to launch your exploration of Belize! The place is very comfortable and safe, and the hosts are always available to help. I’m sure glad I chose to stay at Patti’s!

  • Patti and Floyd were great hosts and have a perfect space to explore the Corozal and Sarteneja area, provided you have a rental car. We appreciated their local knowledge and advice.

Perfect seaside living on private Lagoon point. I have practiced couples therapy for 8 years. I will now be doing a couples therapy retreat on this beautiful piece of Belize starting soon, you can check it out on psychology today (Castaway Lagoon). At that time six condos will be available along with an onsite therapist and boat excursions. However, before we start we are only renting the four second story condos through the summer. Our hope is to share this gorgeous piece of paradise!

Sunrises and sunsets beam over the entire point to create a one a kind tranquility. Orchid Bay is a resort community located on the beautiful Bay of Chetumal in northern Belize. Casita 9A is an 1150 sqft 2 bedroom (one is a loft) one bath home with a complete kitchen and large screened in porch right on the waterfront. The community pool is fun place to hang out. Paddle boards are available for your use at the Tradewinds Restaurant. All taxes are included in the price.
Casita 9A is the most secluded casita at Orchid Bay with a double water view from the screened in porch (west and north). The Maya Dock boardwalk, built on the submerged remains of an ancient Maya pier, and Maya Beach are right out the front door. Note: Orchid Bay is located 1 mile across the river (Laguna Seca) from Copper Bank. If you look on the map to the east and north of Copper Bank you will see Orchid Bay Road and Orchid Bay at the end of that road. It is approximately 12 miles from Corozal Town. See below for more directions.
We love the peace and quiet that comes with staying here. The security of the property is wonderful and those that live here are fun to visit with. We are located between the small villages of Copper Bank and Chunox. Every Monday night they have soup night at the Tradewinds Restaurant - it's a time to have some delicious soup at a low price and mingle with those living and staying at Orchid Bay.
  • The location of this casita within Orchid Bay is the best. Each evening we were treated to sunset views and each morning we watched the light hit the water as the sun came up. It's a long bumpy road to get there but that didn't bother us at all. We met so many wonderful people, some who were living there full time. There is a nice community feel. Know that you are pretty isolated. We bought groceries and ate at the onsite restaurant. We had everything we needed. The water was lovely and it was heavenly to just float around. If you are looking for a nice relaxing getaway, consider Jeff and Debi's place.

  • Loved our stay at Orchid Bay! Our Casita was the perfect size for us and our college age kids. It was big enough but not too big. It had exactly what we needed but not not filled with a bunch of “stuff.” The sunsets were amazing; the people who worked at Trade Winds, the security personnel (especially Sergio) and the people who live at Orchid Bay made this such a memorable trip. We loved laying in the many hammocks, riding bikes around property, and strolling around the trails. Debi was super responsive and the dock and beach felt like ours. The screened-in porch was our second family room. A family highlight for sure!!

  • Jeff and Debis’s casita was such a wonderful surprise when we got there, it was everything we expected. The place was clean and all ready for us when we got there and for 8 days I don’t believe any of us had a single issue. The scenery and being right next to the water was awesome and the sunset views we had from the front door were nothing like I’ve ever seen. My family and I loved the orchid bay and the casita and it’s definitely a trip worth making again!

    Shaun2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property located on the water. And QUIET! Such a nice retreat - waking up in the morning to the sound of waves gently lapping the shore right outside the bedroom window. The property is located in a sort of ex-pat community where so many of the residents seemed to know one another and were great to talk to and get to know. There is also a restaurant/bar on the grounds where we ate the majority of our meals (the ceviche is fantastic). David, the property manager, was very helpful. Highly recommend this place.

    Ashley2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at their Casita. It is really relaxing and isolated but having the restaurant right there is convenient. The manager was very helpful and helped us settle in and find the best road to come. Roads getting there are bad but are supposed to be improved

    Gonzalo2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for having us, extremely convenient. I didn´t realize there was an entire accommodating staff for any questions or issues. We were very impressed. Thank you Jeff and Debi!

  • Debi & Jeff's casita (9A) is even better in person! My husband and I especially loved the location of the casita within Orchid Bay resort because it felt like we had our very own private beach and dock in our backyard! Bathroom & kitchen amenities were stocked and little special touches (dvds, bicycles, playing cards, etc) were included all around the home. PROs: - Location, location, location! 9A is in a semi-private location within the resort with gorgeous views! - Modern appliances - The screened porch is lovely (especially loved the mounted ceiling fan) - This resort is located within a small community (of lots of ex-pats). The people are warm and welcoming and offer great conversation! - Gated resort (24 hrs) CONs: - Check-in was confusing because we had trouble finding Tradewinds bar/restaurant upon arrival. We drove around the resort aimlessly until we stumbled on employees who directed us to where the bar was located. - Orchid Bay is truly off the beaten path and may be a bit difficult to find, even with directions! - Some eyes on the stove did not light. Not a big deal since there were only two of us but if we had a family, that may affect cooking time for meals. - Bees were a bit of an issue towards the back of the casita - If you drive a car while you're there, you cannot park near the casita. Parking near the casita is restricted to loading/unloading only and you must park in one of two designated parking areas (which is a bit of a walk from the casita).

  • Debi answered all my questions quickly with accurate responses. Upon arrival the casita was super clean and we were happy with the extra little things like cooler, camping chairs, blow up water floaties, washer dryer etc that made our stay even more enjoyable. Orchid bay was a great place if you dont like the all inclusive resorts, the rushes of people, loud partiers etc. The grounds were beautiful with maintained flowers and palm trees. The sand on the beach was great, paths for bike rides and paddleboards were not extra which I appreciated very much. Casita 9a is extra special being the farthest away it makes it even more secluded as no neighbour's on 3 sides. You also pretty much have your own beach and dock on that side too. The water is milky so if you want to snorkel you need to offsite. We took a boat tour. Immediatelywhen we left dolphins were jumping all around the boat. When we snorkled the reef we saw a nurse shark, sting Ray's, barracudas, turtles, crabs, lobsters and puffer fish amongst the obvious amazing fishies. Our guide was wonderful and I wasnt scared at all. Thanks Jeff and Debi!

This is a Fully Furnished home located on Bayshore Dr. This is one of the nicest streets in town just steps form resorts, Corozal bay and fine dining. Its a Central location that would require minimal transportation to any destination in tow.
Bright yellow house on the nicest street in Corozal bay. This is a very exclusive community most of the houses on the street are mansions owned by wealthy foreigners.
This neighborhood has a special appeal due to the location. It is a very safe area with very little foot traffic you can keep your doors open and not worry about burglary. It's walking distance form Corozo Blues bar & grill, You Not Bar & Grill, and Cielo Restaurant. It's also just minutes form One mall shopping center and a nice gas station.

  • Easy to rent, beautiful location and grounds. Felt like we were in paradise for a quick weekend get away. Warm clear water that you could walk out far from shore. Nice that the property had paddle boards that you could take out. Really friendly and helpful staff in the restaurant and check in. Everyone we met, guest and owners were all very friendly and relaxed. Wish we could have stayed longer than just a weekend!

  • Had a great 3 night stay at one of the casitas. Very clean and well appointed. Grounds are beautiful. Restaurant/bar is very convenient. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. Only tip would be to stock up on groceries at One Mall on your way in because the property is pretty isolated.

This waterfront casita is located on the secluded Bay of Chetumal in northern Belize. It is part of the Orchid Bay Beach Club and is only a few steps from the water. It is approx 30 minutes to the nearest town. The casita is 1150 sq ft with one bedroom (Queen), a loft with two single beds and a futon in the living room. It has all the comforts of home and has a large screened in porch for putting your feet up to relax and wind down. The Price includes the local Belize Tourism Tax of 12%.
Hello fellow travelers! Our beautiful casita, located at Orchid Bay in northern Belize is in a cozy isolated community about a half hour from the nearest town, Corozal. The Bay is shallow and the water is warm and brackish. Every night, with a cocktail in hand, you will see the sunset from the comfort of your hammock in the 216 sq ft screened in porch. The casita is 1150 sq ft and can sleep up to six. Depending on the length of your stay, it would be very cozy for six adults. A queen bed occupies the spacious master bedroom, there are two twin beds in the loft and there is a futon in the living room. (which can sleep two) It is fully furnished with all the comforts of home including a refrigerator, stove, microwave, small appliances, dishes, cutlery and wine glasses. The unit has air conditioning, a fan and a TV and DVD player (no TV service) in the living room and the bedroom. There is also a fan and light in the loft area. There is hot and cold running water and the tap water is safe to drink. Our casita has a single bathroom with an oversized shower with Mexican tile. The casita has beautiful Belizean hardwood interior and a thatched roof as you can see in the pictures. Orchid Bay is a remote isolated quiet get away to reacquaint with that special person or wind down from the hustle and bustle of your hometown. As mentioned above, the bay water is brackish and the color and visibility vary during the dry and the wet season. If my wife and I want to go Scuba Diving, we'll get our manager to book us a flight over to Ambergris Caye where the diving is world class. You can spend some time on the two supplied bikes riding over to a few nearby eating spots or checking out the local Cerros Mayan ruins. You can practice yoga on a secluded dock just steps from the casita or jump into a game of Volleyball, Horseshoes or Bocce. You can dip your toes in the Bay of Chetumal or enjoy some paddleboarding and kayaking or just laze around and sunbathe. You can go for a walk or jog around the property or climb the stairs up to the top of the water tower for a majestic view of the Orchid Bay Beach Club and Chetumal Bay. The nighttime star gazing is awesome, especially from the palapa out on the Pescadores dock. It's a nice spot to sit out with a glass of wine and listen to the waves gently lapping against the shore. Depending on the time of year, you can watch the fire-flies lighting up the mangroves. You may see some cool critters on the property such as gecko, anteater, deer, fox, hummingbirds, fireflies, coatimundi (raccoon family), frogs, many different birds, snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, crocodiles and perhaps even a jaguar. The jungle is indeed just a stone's throw away. If you're lucky enough, you may see a manatee at the Laguna Seca ferry crossing. The gardener (Herman) has also done a tremendous job of planting an abundance of flora on the property. We have apple bananas, habaneros, avocados, coconuts and mango growing on site. If you don’t feel like cooking then head over to the “Tradewinds Restaurant” where they can set you up with some jalapeño poppers and a beverage and then you can move on to the daily specials. They make local and western cuisine and make a delicious homemade salad dressing that will surely get the taste buds flowing.
This is a quiet secure community located between a few very small villages. There are a few weekly evening events where you will have the opportunity to connect with residents, locals or other guests. We have pizza night on Fridays on the rooftop of the B&B on site and we also have Monday Soup Night at the Tradewinds restaurant. The soup is delicious and the charge is minimal. Half of the proceeds go toward local charities and needs.
  • Our experience at Orchid Bay was fabulous start to finish. The casita is really lovely and well appointed and fit our family of 4 perfectly (our 2 college age kids slept in the loft and it worked out great). We rented a car but truly, I think I’d either take the Orchid Bay shuttle or the flight to Corozal and then the Orchid Bay water shuttle if we come back. The jungle roads are really something to navigate! The reef snorkeling trip was spectacular and was all arranged by Dave the on site manager ... as well as the river tour to the Lamanai ruins. It poured on us the entire to the ruins, and we still loved every minute! Nate, Orchid Bay’s boat captain and guide, was one of the finest guides we have ever experienced. If you are looking for an off the beaten path piece of paradise, try this casita and resort. We loved our stay.

  • Pernell is a terrific host, very responsive. The casita is quite lovely and provided a quiet respite while we were on vacation. We greatly appreciated the full kitchen and air conditioning. It’s not too far away from the restaurant, but far enough away that you don’t hear the music while you’re inside. Orchid Bay is a quaint little community and we enjoyed our time there. The grounds are beautiful. Although there were lots of mosquitoes (due to the rainy season), they were really only a nuisance during dawn and dusk. The residents were very welcoming and made us feel at home. We appreciated the sense of safety we had during our stay. It was nice to have the manned gate and security who patrolled the property. This was a big plus because we were traveling with our children. We would not recommend staying at Orchid Bay if you have children because the conversations/innuendos/vibe is geared towards a mature audience.

    Amanda2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The casita was situated within just about 10 feet of the beautiful, aqua-colored water and palm trees. We spent a week relaxing and getting a break from our very hectic and sometimes stressful life, and we couldn't believe how beautiful this location was. It's the perfect spot to get away from it all, especially if you don't like tourist trap destinations. We enjoyed the slow pace and the local color. Definitely rent a 4x4 and not a regular car, as you are "off the beaten path" getting here (Belize has only a couple of paved roads). That was part of the adventure for us, and we especially enjoyed the hand-cranked ferries that helped us cross two bodies of water. What a fun time we had.

    Karen2019-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed this casita very much. The grounds are great and the casita itself is larger than we expected. We all had enough room to spread out and do our own thing if we wanted to after a fun day of exploring. There is an AC unit in the living space and another in the bedroom, so everyone stayed nice and cool while sleeping. We desperately needed to have some clothes laundered, so the staff at the restaurant sent someone to the casita to pick our laundry up. I was happy to see a coffee maker with coffee and condiments in the frig! We hope to get back there one day to fully explore the grounds and enjoy the rest of the amenities.

  • My family said I get an A+ for finding this piece of paradise in the jungles of Belize. I had no idea what to expect. My husband and I gave this trip to our 48 year old daughter and her spouse. They made the daily schedule, planned everything and just told me when to get up, what to wear and what to take. They were kind enough to not make me get up two mornings in a row at 6 am. I learned so much on this trip. We were here for 10 days. We arrived after dark so our first morning was a pleasant surprise with birds, perfect quiet, and not a motor or engine to disrupt the ambience. First order of business was stocking our cupboards and frig with enough food for 4 for 10 days. We made our first trip to Corozol. Luckily our "kids" had done this before and had a plan. Now this town is small, dirt streets, several family grocery stores. Not much to choose from. I was blown away that we came home with a big fresh turkey and a huge ham and lots of salsa, dozens of homemade tortillas, beans, rice, lots of beer. You get nowhere fast in Belize. Dirt roads with huge potholes, like driving through a minefield, up and down, from side to side. Seems we only went about 5 miles an hour. So shopping took us a whole day. Christmas Eve day was spent down by the pool, cooking those two huge pieces of meat over an open pit barbeque, meeting other guests and just relaxing. This is not your typical resort. Not really a place for children as they would get bored quite easily. No live music. The Tradewinds restaurant made a great Christmas feast with one's choice of lobster or prime rib. The feast started up slowly around 4pm with appetizers. We met many more local residents from Orchid Bay. We saw Mayan ruins, flew to Ambergis Key to snorkel, saw baby manatees fed at nursery, a manually cranked ferry.. Long days but learned lots. If you are looking for a typical resort in Cabo or Cancoon this isn't it. But quiet and peaceful, no tv, and lots of birds

  • Orchid Bay is a very special place. We loved visiting Belize and were so glad that our first trip was to Orchid Bay. Karen and Pernell sent us lots of great information about what to expect and things to do. They kept in contact and were very responsive. The community at Orchid Bay is very welcoming and we met lots of great new friends. David Berger and his staff were excellent and made sure we had all we needed. The Tradewinds restaurant is a great place to meet other people and learn from others about the area. We chose not to rent a car and instead hired Andre to drive us on excursions. He was fantastic and taught us a lot about Belize. David arranged a trip for us to Lamanai, the Belize zoo and to do cave tubing. All were great fun. We look forward to returning to Belize very soon and highly recommend this rental.

    Melissa2018-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great Casita owned by Karen & Pernell. You are so close to Chetumal Bay that the blue and white herons squawk when you come out the screened in porch door in the mornings. You can sit (or lay) on the screened porch and hear the water of the Bay lapping at the shoreline. It really is one of the best Casitas I have stayed in. You will love it!

    Sam2018-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend staying at Karen and Pernell's Casita in Orchid Bay! This is the perfect place in Orchid Bay Belize! A slice of Paradise for sure! Great place to have as a home base to relax at and great for making trips for any local excursions, fishing, biking, hiking, tour of the Mayan Temples to enjoying a great meal at the Trade Winds Restaurant. David is the local manager for the restaurant and the property who is very helpful with coordinating activities for you to enjoy. Best ever Birthday Getaway! Doug
