  • Damian's place was everything we wanted - cozy, clean and comfy. The shower and tub are great. The bed and couch were super comfortable. We were there for a volleyball tournament and the location was perfect. Damian was kind enough to deliver a new can opener when the ither broke, which was very thoughtful. I would definitely recommend this place!

    Donna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This little house was a welcome treat on our business trip. Damien went above and beyond helping with our check in when we were having an issue with AirBnb. The accommodations and amenities were excellent. We especially loved the jets in the bathtub after a long, tiring day.

  • Tim and France have a sweet bungalow very close to the NSCC Nautical Campus which was the purpose of our trip. Check in was easy, home was spotless, there were 3 bedrooms, the 2 we used were both very comfortable lots of closet space. Nice view of the water (unfortunately with sub zero March temperatures we only enjoyed from indoors rather than the patio. Tim was very quick to respond to questions and changes to our reservation. Highly recommend and we will be back when the weather is better to be able to explore the area more.

    Kathy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We were in Port Hawkesbury for a hockey tournament with our two teenage sons and with this spacious home we had plenty of room to relax and have our own space. It definitely felt like our home away from home. The location is minutes from the all amenities that made things easier for us to stop and pick things up when we needed them. We ran into a small problem during check in but the immediate response by Tim and how quickly he fix it was impressive. Having a place like Tims made our weekend so much better. I would recommend his place and the next time I need a place to stay in the Port Hawkesbury area I will definitely stay there again .

The bedroom is a neutral color and very simple. The picture of the room is exactly what it's like. Very quiet and comfy.
It has a comfy queen size bed and an armoir for your clothing if staying longer than one night.
I love my neighborhood because it's so quiet and peaceful and the people are friendly. I feel like I'm in seclusion being cuddled by trees and the sounds of wild life both at night and early morning makes it seem like paradise.
  • Just needed more space in the freezer for all the fish my son and I caught. Lol

  • Shelley is an exceptional host whose home is as cozy and inviting as it is comfortable. I had a spotless room, a well appointed bathroom, an exceptionally comfortable bed, and a delightful breakfast overlooking the water. Every detail is carefully looked after, and Shelley has everything prepared beautifully. From warm tea and cookies on arrival to chocolates by the bedside, this was a memorable stay even if it was less than 14 hours total. Highly recommended.

  • Lovely bedroom with comfortable bed and private bath. Shelly and Neil were extremely hospitable and their home is beautiful. Floor heating, so no cold feet getting out of the shower! Excellent breakfast on eggs from Shelly's hens, made even better since it was accompanied by conversation from our host, giving us insight about Canada. This too-short stay felt like visiting a friend.

  • Excellent value, beautiful & comfortable room with great views.

    Yvonne2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. Shelley and her husband were very welcoming. They have a beautiful home and awesome view. Our room was clean and spacious. I loved that we had a door to go outside from our room so not to disturb the owners. Shelley recommended a few places to eat locally and we loved that too....the cute litte extra touches of bath salts and popcorn were cute....Highly recommend! Havre boucher is a lovely spot ...oh I almost forgot breakfast was amazing! Shelley served us with a homemade fruit cup with yogurt and a sprinkle of granola on top and then we had eggs, toast, hashbrown with fresh morning coffee and orange juice :) You have to stay here you will love it!

  • We needed a place to stay for the night before doing the Cabot Trail in the morning. We arrived very late and Tina was still up responding to messages. The entire check-in was in incredibly simple. In the morning she prepared coffee and breakfast for us before we headed out. She is so hospitable and easy to talk to. We had some great conversations!

    Lis2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! I mean.....I only stayed one night but it already felt like a second home. The best part of Tina's place truly is the hospitality. She greeted me later than I expected due to car issues (I was on a looooooooong road trip) and stayed up to make me tea and chat and make me feel very at home. I also had a lovely huge breakfast with her before I headed out; these kind of listings are why airbnb should exist, period. Thank you so much Tina for making me feel adopted for the time I was there :-)

    Kreesa2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Tina is very welcoming hostess. you have either private space or a great new friend to get to know.

    Skip2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tina has raised the bar! We gave her almost no notice. She had treats for us on arrival, offered us her kitchen, poured each a glass of wine while we ate our evening snack. She is very generous with her time and space. A lovely lady and if you able too stay here if you’re going to be in this area.

  • Great place to relax or go with a group of friends. They have pool tables, air hockey, darts, a hot tub, everything you want they have it. My cabin even had its own fire place. I will definitely be going back there with my family

  • My friend and I were really excited to head up to the lodge for the weekend. It seemed like exactly the place we wanted to go. I’m sure it was very nice, but after we booked on the app it turned out that the lodge had already been booked. Bummer! Maybe next time.

She provides home baked goods, eggs, frozen waffles and too many other kitchen and food extras to mention. The house is great in every way including a comfortable bed, hot shower, and beautiful water view. I am grateful to her and her husband for such a pleasurable stay.

The breakfast was better than any on our trip to NS and everyone chatted it up in several languages. We had so much fun! I would stay here again if we come back to this part of Canada.

The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable and exactly as advertised. Nadine was great at communicating with us, which made everything easy. We had a great stay.

    Kirsten2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful visit to Nadine’s cottage on Cape Breton Island. It was a perfect location for exploring the island. The cottage has a warm and friendly feeling, we were able to make a small Thanksgiving dinner, and the price was reasonable.

A cozy, secluded and private studio cottage with the ocean at your front door. Make our cottage a home base for your outdoor adventures to the surrounding areas of Cape Breton and Antigonish & Guysburough Counties. Or enjoy a peaceful and romantic getaway with a priceless view of the sunset from the front porch of the cottage every evening.
This a a small, very private, studio space with a bunk bed that has a full size mattress on the bottom and a single on the top. The space is great for a couple, a small family or a few close friends. There is a small refrigerator, instant hot water, coffee maker, grill and limited essential kitchen ware to use on a picnic table directly outside the cottage. We provide complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water refills. There is a full bathroom with shower in the cottage. There is a charging/playing station for iPods/phones. We can provide a pack and play upon request.
The cottage is on an island with less than ten other seasonal cottages. It is very secluded with the beach steps from your door. You will need to drive down a gravel road for about 3 miles and over a beach causeway but is easily accessible in all vehicles. It's a great base for day trips to Cape Breton, Antigonish County and the surrounding famous hiking and biking trails.
  • Perfect spot.

  • Fantastic waterfront cottage in a beautiful region of Nova Scotia!

    Sam2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • if you're after your own space in a nicely equipped cabin this is it. neighbours are there but not too close. ocean shore right outside your door. equipped with everything we wanted. nothing fancy but functional. the rocking chairs on the front porch and available gas bbq are nice touches. we enjoy our own space rather than sharing a hallway and bath with others and this met our needs perfectly

    richard2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This little gem is in a fairly remote location in that it is near town, but still isolated. The cabin is just yards from the waters edge...fabulous. The cabin is very small. But quaintly appointed.

    Michelle2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a private and quaint stay ! It was just off the beaten track, and was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks Marcie.

    Bill2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED Marcie’s beach bunkie! We didn’t arrive until later, it was dark, but as soon as we pulled up we were excited! Marcie gave use great directions to get to the cottage in the dark. Entering the cottage, we absolutely loved how cute and small it was, with absolutely everything you’d need for the stay!! We wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance!!

    Allyssa2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

    Chris2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • As cute as the pictures. Hosts were quick to respond to the water tank not heating up. There are plenty of DVD's to watch a movie or 2. Very peaceful and just as described.

Enjoy some peace and quiet in beautiful Guysborough county, in a rustic and secluded private cottage. Located 15 minutes from downtown Guysborough, 30 mins from the Canso Causeway and an hour from Antigonish. A great hideaway for a couple looking to escape or for a family looking to spend some time together surrounded by the woods and a view of the ocean. Located right on the water with both a beach and a lake to enjoy.
Our beautiful rustic cottage has two private bedrooms along with a sofa bed. There is a downstairs bedroom featuring a single bed and a 3/4 bed with an attached bathroom. Upstairs there is another full bathroom along with a queen size bed. There is plenty of living space inside with a spacious living room and dining area. We have a full sized kitchen including a full fridge, stove, oven and dishwasher. We keep some basic spices stocked in the cupboard for guests. There is also a bbq for guests to use if they would like to grill up some grub. There are two decks on the exterior with absolutely spectacular views of the ocean. It is a completely private area tucked away down a long driveway on 17 acres of private land surrounded by trees and wildlife.
  • Emily’s place was cozy and a perfect getaway for us from the city. The cottage itself is set in a gorgeous location and the wooden interior is perfect. Thanks for the great stay.

    Josh2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do it justice. Beautiful place set away from everything overlooking the ocean. If your looking for peace and quiet with a beautiful view then this is the place to be. Can’t wait to book it again next year.

    Daniel2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a fantastic host, extremely responsive, the cottage had great amenities and nice extra touches like additional blankets, lots an lots of wood for the woodstove, cozy living area and beautiful views and water access. I would love to come back for a summer visit and make use of the kayaks they have there for guest use. Recommend!

    Amanda2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Captain’s Cottage was great. It’s location perched above the ocean, yet far off the road creates an amazingly peaceful and beautiful setting. The cabin itself is well laid out and spacious with everything you need and the wood stove makes things quite cozy during the chilly weather. If you’re looking to get away from it all, this is the place. Thanks!

    Steve2019-10-03T00:00:00Z

  • To say that Gail and her husband went above and beyond is truly an understatement. My husband and his friend arrived, on motorcycles, for the night to do the Cabot Trail the next day, which they did. Upon the final leg of the journey, the last half hour was in pouring rain. When they arrived back at their lodgings, Gail came out and offered them the use of their garage to get the bikes out of the rain. Thank #1. Then Gail advised my husband that there would be HEAVY rains tomorrow morning and perhaps they might want to checkout an hour later then the scheduled 11:00am checkout to try and let the rain pass. Thank you #2. The next day, Gail and her husband offer my husband and his friend the opportunity to stay an extra night, due to the very heavy rains and high winds. Thank you #3. My husband decided to take them up on their offer. Nobody likes battling the elements on a motorcycle. And the absolutely piece de resistance....... Gail and husband then offered my husband the use of their vehicle so that he could go get some food for the night. AMAZING! Truly the best type of hospitality you could ever hope for is from the people the take the time to understand what type of predicament you are in and they help you in anyway they can. Thank you #4.

What we have here folks is a small, cozy, German-made cottage down by a saltwater pond right next to the Atlantic ocean on Cape Breton's southern shore. We're situated down a backroad in River Bourgeois about 15 minutes outside of the village of St. Peter's, which is a small and rather historic hub town with all of the usual amenities. If you want a little peace and quiet, your closest neighbours are a couple of kilometres away.
You'll have free laundry facilities, a dishwasher, a little porch, a bonfire pit, a picnic table, a propane grill, and an internet connection that frankly isn't great, but given the remoteness of the area it's actually pretty decent. For the technically inclined, we've measured it at 3.5 Mbps with latency low enough to play online games. The property sits on 7.75 acres of mostly wooded area and is a quick 5/10-minute walk to the ocean. The house features a single master bedroom with adjoining full bath with walk-in shower and separate bath, as well as a half bath in the main area. It's not big cottage, but it's a mighty cottage. A cot is available and can be set up in the living room. The couches could sleep two, but one is more comfortable (or so say the in-laws). There are also a few auto-inflating blowup mattresses available. There's a piano on site, but it's slightly out-of-tune. If you happen to play guitar and would like to borrow one, let us know. Other instruments may also be available. If you have a small child or infant, we have things like a playpen and toys available, so just let us know and we'll set things up for you. If you need more space, we also have a 3-bedroom house available just 5 minutes up the road from here.
** FUN FACT: River Bourgeois is not actually a river at all, but rather a natural harbour off of the Atlantic ocean. ** "The River," as locals call it, is right outside of St. Peter's, a small but historic village with all of the usual amenities. ** FUN FACT: the image of the Bluenose on the Canadian dime is based on photographs taken by Wallace MacAskill, a St. Peter's native. **
  • Awesome stay. The house and the area were the perfect groundbase for my dog and I's winter adventure along Cape Breton. Jason was very attentive and helpful, and the accomodations surpassed my expectations. Will definitely try to rebook next time I am around.

    Sergio2020-01-01T00:00:00Z

  • Jason and Abby’s place was perfect for my Celtic Colours music festival experience. I was there for 5 nights and place was comfy and spacious, the pictures don’t do it justice. And Jason went the extra mile to assist me with some car issues, I didn’t miss a single event! Highly recommended!

Guests can stay at home and enjoy the property, or they can travel around the island and visit craft and pottery shops, market gardens, beaches, historical sites and churches. There are also paddle board and kayak rentals nearby.
  • Great stay in a cozy space with a private entrance. Anna is very helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommend!

  • Anna’s place was amazing with a beautiful garden. It was a pleasure meeting her and her husband. Everything was very organized , house was very clean, and the setting was tranquil and harmonious. They gave us local tips to explore Isle Madame. I highly recommended her place to any guest.

  • Amazing place in a unique location. Close to the beach, groceries and other necessities but totally secluded from everywhere. The place is sparkling clean with everything you could ever need. Lots of great hiking and places in the surrounding areas. Anna and her husband are extremely helpful with suggestions and making your stay great.

  • We really loved the cozy apartment and beautiful gardens surrounding the property. The location was great for exploring the local area such as Pondville Beach, Arichat and the rest of Isle Madame.

  • Anna was fast to reply and gave great directions. The apartment was incredibly clean and bigger than we expected. The bed was comfortable. She has a lovely garden and was kind to offer us some fresh produce. The house is secluded and private, and has a great selection of books! We wish we had more time to relax at Anna’s place and would definitely go back.

  • Booking in what seemed to be an out-of-the-way place turned out to be perfect and the best for us. So quiet and private, with amazing gardens and peaceful views while enjoying coffee on our deck. The apartment was perfectly clean and well appointed and our host Anna went out of the way to make sure every need was met. We HIGHLY recommend this spot; you will enjoy checking amazing ocean views and nature at its best in short drives around the islands.

  • This couple and the 2- bedroom suite reminded us of Danish hospitality and decor. It is so thoroughly equipped. We were thrilled. Thank you!

    Dorothy2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • There is something uniquely rejuvenating about being on a beautiful island in a cozy space surrounded by a garden. We stayed two nights and explored the island, had fresh lobster, and relaxed. The space was just what we needed. We were able to prepare our own meals, take a hot shower after jumping into the very cold ocean, and chill on the couch. The bed we used was very comfortable. Anna was very friendly, easy to communicate with, and gave us some local tips. Would definitely recommend to other guests!

  • Shelleys directions to her place got us there perfectly. We booked on short notice but even still, the hosts were there smiling and happy to greet us upon arrival. There is a very sweet small dog on site, Penny, whose prime ambition in life seems to be to give kisses and love out to everyone, but she keeps to herself if left alone. The space is spectacular, and showed off the couples prairie roots inside and breathtaking views of the ocean outside. The rooms are so homey and cozy, yet have everything you need and more! Bubble bath, extra toothbrush, and slippers were nice touches. Shelley offered me a wine glass and we were able to keep our drinks cool in the mini fridge provided in the room. In the morning we were served a beautiful filling breakfast, which we enjoyed over conversation getting to know the couple. It was a lovely experience overall and I recommend staying at “Rest Ashored” to anybody considering it!

  • Shelley and Neil have created an oasis of calm. The room was exactly as shown in the photographs and the views were even more amazing than the photos. In every respect this is a five star stay - the bed is extremely comfortable, the fit, finish and decor is top tier and most importantly the hospitality is second to none. Highly recommended!!

We were completely comfortable and everyone loved the wood stove, the amazing views from the windows and after being outside in the snow all day, the sauna was a magnificent touch! The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and we had a great time exploring the beach, the woods around the house and the area. 5 stars! Thanks, Lori.

  • A superbly comfortable place in a spectacular location. The hosts went above and beyond to create a cozy atmosphere with no shortage in amenities. Some bonuses included a wood stove, a record player (complete with record collection), and a sauna! We had a lovely stay in the middle of winter, but the waterfront location would likely be equally appealing in any season. Would definitely stay here again!

    Tessa2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay During a winter snowstorm! Heat pumps in the living room and master bedroom kept the place toasty and warm; the sauna off of the master ensuite Was a real highlight after skiing around the neighborhood. Nice views, a beautiful rocky beach to explore in warmer weather, and plenty of extra towels. Lori was very helpful and responsive. We would love to stay again!

One 3 way hook up in a quiet residential neighbourhood with an ocean view that will fit any size RV. 50 amp hook up that accommodates lower amperage with an adapter. Just 10 minutes away from the Canso Causeway, Gateway to Cape Breton Island and 17 minutes from the Port Hawkesbury Airport. This space will not work as a tenting campsite as there are no restrooms or beds available.
  • See was a great host! Met us out in the pouring rain, got us all hooked up and she spent time talking to us about the area! Super sweet lady who is full of knowledge and site was beautiful!

    Danielle2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find a more lovely setting in all of Nova Scotia at which to park your RV. The hook-up was once used by one of Dee's family members, and we're so glad that she shared it with us, too. Not only do you enjoy a 180 degree panorama of ocean, mountains and a small lake, but the site overlooks a lovely field of wildflowers on the ocean side. Behind you are Dee's cultivated flower beds. The RV parking area is quite level. I had informed Dee of our intended arrival time and she was seated on her front porch, waiting hospitably for us. She walked across the sweeping, freshly mowed lawn to say hello, carrying a box of vegetables from her garden for our enjoyment. She worked with us to make sure we had everything necessary for our hook-up. She wanted us to know that we could knock on her door if we needed anything. We did knock each night, just to touch base, and enjoyed a nice chat with her both times. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that Dee's excellent wifi had a strong signal in our motor home. There are several interesting day trips which you can take from this location. We went to the Highland Village Museum in Iona one day. Also nearby is the pretty town of Pictou, with its Hector Heritage Quay and small shops and restaurants. Go to the lunchtime ceilidh in at the Celtic Interpretive Center in Judique. Take a walk or bike ride on the Celtic Shores Coastal Trails. In short, enjoy a stay at this lovely AirBnB and spread the word to other RV'ers, too!

  • This cabin was the perfect winter getaway! We had a great stay. The cabin has everything we could need and has really nice touches. Karen and Jerry are truly kind people. Excellent hosts. Couldn't recommend higher. We would certainly love to come back in the summer.

    Stephen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Shore to Sea cottage on Christmas Eve in a snowstorm, and had a wonderful stay! Nova Scotia is not an obvious winter destination, but we appreciated the amazing quiet and the harsh beauty of nature. The cottage was very cozy for reading, and we loved learning more about the life of the lady who had lived there - it made us feel like we were visiting a relative. Karen and Jerry were very welcoming hosts, and so was their gorgeous dog Sampson! In spite of the weather, we were able to spend a significant amount of time outdoors, trail running. The whole area has fantastic trails everywhere, and we saw lots of birds (eagles mostly) and animal tracks in the snow. Highly recommended, we will be back!

  • Our stay at this cottage in lovely Phillips Harbour will always stand out as one of our favorite trips. Karen, Jerry & Kevin went above & beyond to make us feel welcomed, helping us find our way around the beautiful Lost Shores and sharing the fascinating history of the Harbour (Jerry is quite the storyteller, & has a wealth of knowledge about the water & the area he loves so much!). Their cottage was perfect for us: clean, well equipped, perfect deck to relax on while overlooking the Harbour. Peaceful & quiet! Coming back in the summer to do even more outside/water activities. Although just walking the shoreline was enough! Off-season was a great time for us to unwind and recharge, could not have picked a better place or people to do that with. Thanks again for the exceptional stay & the wonderful memories, and particularly your kindness. See you in the summer!

  • Karen and Jerry are very friendly, informative and helpful hosts. Their cottage was perfectly located for our interest in exploring the surrounding areas including Antigonish and Cape Breton. We also enjoyed the fact that it was a bit off the beaten path and offered us some quiet space to relax every evening after our daily explorations and beach walks.

    Karen2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a cozy get away. It was exceptionally clean and decorated warmly. It was so wonderful to wake up in the morning, sit out on the porch and look out on the ocean. Karen and Jerry were perfect examples of what we were told Nova Scotians were warm, caring and so very friendly. We are looking forward to returning next year.

Enjoy the history of our beautiful home that dates back to the late 1820's. Kayak in front of the house along the Guysborough Harbour and then visit one of our many gorgeous beaches or book a boat tour at the local marina. Come back for a rest in the hammock on the covered deck until it's time to bbq or enjoy an evening fire. Or you could walk the lane into the village and treat yourself to a delicious meal. This is your perfect restful destination.
Almost 200 years old, our home was one of the earliest built in the village of Guysborough. It is spacious enough that an entire family or two couples can be comfortable and lots of room inside and out to enjoy.
There is a wonderful grocery store at the nearby shopping plaza if you want to cook at the house or Days Gone By Bakery has excellent food all day long! Don't leave Guysborough without having a meal at Big G's! Easily walk to nearby Pub and marina or the Chedabucto Performance Center and new Lifestyle Complex with fully equipped gym. Outdoor pool is also open seasonally.

    Sue2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • It's a very old house so it isn't perfect but it's very roomy. The bedrooms are quite comfortable, the kitchen is giant and had everything we needed and more. The living/dining room was better than we expected with morning light pouring into the windows. We used that room daily. The TV room is huge but we didn't bother with that much as the front porch was perfect for relaxing, reading or just hanging out. The town is cute and has a seasonal Saturday morning market at the harbor. The path to town is mostly along the shore and is a nice walk. The place is a bit out of the way but that's part of it's charm. All in all, we were very happy that we'd rented it.

We love how terrific it is for kids- lots of space both inside and out, indoor and outdoor toys aplenty, trampoline, swing set, and chickens. only thing you have to watch for it that the pool hasn’t got a fence (yet). We were also kindly given fresh eggs for breakfast. Thanks for another great stay!
