  • Perfectly located just a short way from the port with a stunning view over the peaks of Jura. Everything you can expect from a place like this!

    Fredrik2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot for a great morning view of the paps of Jura whilst having breakfast. A spacious and accommodating property which offers a great location to three of the distilleries and the port of Askaig, perfect for that must do ferry trip to the Isle of Jura! The Caol Lia distillery is closed for a major refurbishment until spring 2020 but we happily moved around the island from our location. The house itself is good value, a newly refurbished bathroom, good facilitated kitchen, large breakfast bar for eating with that super view and a cosy lounge with log burner and comfy sofas. The bedrooms are a good size, one of them has no heating but I’m sure that could be resolved very quickly if needed, the house itself has good heating and we weren’t troubled at all. Debbie is a very attentive host, super quick responses and a friendly manner.

  • Gorgeous location overlooking the water and over to Jura. Super close to Caol Ila distillery (which unfortunately is closed until Spring 2020 according to the sign) and also not far to two other distilleries. Lovely place to relax after a busy day.

    Christy2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very tidy and smart house with amazing view to Jura. Ideal for destilery visitors Who like to visit Coail Illa, Bunnahabhain, Arnahore and also Jure destilery. 20 minutes walking to Port Askaig ferry Terminal. Big recommendation use Debbie house.

  • Lovely place, relaxing stay, has a sauna (!) very handy for Port Askaig and three of the distilleries. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Really enjoyed my stay on Islay and Susan's place is a great base to do that.

    Ray2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's home is sweet, a convenient hop from the Port Askaig ferry by bike, and the room itself is spacious and lovely. Susan and her husband were extremely hospitable and nice to talk to, and offered us a generous breakfast the morning that we were with them. We would certainly stay here again!

  • We are on our way out of Islay and enjoy the trip on Islay. The house is great, clean and comfortable. I really like the mattress in the room and I slept very well. Susan and Bill are very friendly and have a good time. The breakfast was very delicious. I will stay here next time I come to Islay.

    Toni2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. I stayed here last year, Susan was away but Bill was here and his hospitality was fantastic! I returned to Islay again this year (trust me, once you visit you soon realise once is not enough) and did not hesitate to book here again. I was finally able to meet Susan and the conversations we shared were delightful. I had some issues hiring a car and Bill was free for one of the days I was there so we enjoyed a day together exploring Islay, I can’t say thank you enough for this! All the best Susan and Bill, take care :-)

  • Alma cottage is perfectly located for exploring beautiful Islay - with amazing views of Loch Indaal and walking distance into Bowmore. We had a lovely time at the cottage and Linda and Colin were brilliant hosts.

  • We only stayed for 1 night and it wasn’t long enough! This is a well equipped, comfortable cabin with amazing views and parking. The weather was very wet and windy during our stay but we were kept warm by the log burner - very cosy! Linda and Colin were great: very friendly hosts who met us on arrival and told us where to go in town (which is only 5 mins walk away). We would definitely stay here again.

    Della2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, wrap up by the fire and enjoy Islay’s unpredictable weather with amazing sea views!

    Maxine2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you have never been to Islay or are a seasoned visitor, then i assure you that this is the place you need to stay! Amazing does not do it justice!! Situated in Bowmore and with a vista to die for, you will not be disappointed that is for sure. Both Colin & Linda have been simply brilliant in every way. Such lovely people who deserve a 10 out of 10 for their service to Air BnB! Well done guys. We will be back thats for sure.

    Steve2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was very comfortable and the wood burning stove very welcome. The cabin held up extremely well when tested by the weather conditions during Storm Ciara. Views very exciting and nothing stays the same. Good local amenities which served us very well.

    Keith2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was amazing, so comfortable and a wonderful location on the fabulous Isle of Islay. Linda and Colin are great hosts and we would highly recommend staying with them. We will definitely be back.

  • The reviews are right. This is a fantastic place to stay. A warm welcome awaits, the fire was lit and it was so cosy. Great local recommendation took us to a fabulous and friendly local whisky bar. Waking up to the view across the loch is unbelievable. There is everything you need and more. Highly recommended whatever the weather or time of year.

    Simon2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • When we first stumbled upon this flat on AirBnB, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. Linda is the most wonderful host. The views are incredible, the wood fire very cozy and bed extremely comfortable. The location is perfect for a little stroll into town and exploring the rest of the island. I’m so glad we found this little gem. We will be back!

Property clean and perfectly located in Bowmore, shops and bars/restaurants all within a 5 minute walking distance. 100% would return.

  • The location is in Pomo, extremely convenient, nearby convenience stores, restaurants, rooms are very clean, washing machine, dryer, kitchen are all available, come to the island for four days, feel relaxed and comfortable, Angrew is very enthusiastic, if come to Ayre Island, you can live here, really good. Very recommended.

  • This house is the perfect place to stay on Islay. Located in the middle of the Island every place is reachable within a few minutes. Andrew has been a great host and made us feel very welcome from the beginning. We found a house where nothing was missing, nothing was broken and that was absolutely clean. The kitchen was filled with everything that you need for a full continental breakfast and - most surprisingly for us: The house got cleaned after the first day (even the towels got changed) though we only stayed for two nights. We definitely would like to recommend this house to everybody who wants to travel to Islay. Thanks again, Andrew. We will definitely return.

    Till2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew is a gracious, accommodating and helpful host. The space offered is wonderful and accurately portrayed in the profile, it is ideally situated for a visit of Islay and offers a view of the ocean! I recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay on the island and won’t hesitate to book it again when I return.

    Aron2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Best Airbnb experience I've ever had. Andrew has a great 2-bedroom place that is centrally situated for exploring Islay. The place was super clean and well appointed. Andrew was a great help figuring out plans to visit all of the distilleries that we wanted to see and for helpful recommendations for dining, etc.

    Gregg2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage was perfect in every way. Could not have asked for a better location. Certainly will return.

    Liz2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation in a beautiful location, highly recommended. The photos don’t do the cottage justice; it is super stylish and cosy, with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay in the island. Andrew went the extra mile to make us welcome and help us get the very best out of our trip. Book it!

  • Our stay at Jim's place was wonderful. The location was perfect, and the cabin super cosy. Jim and Caroline were lovely and approachable. The little cabin was perfect for my fiancee and I to relax in after each day of exploring the island and distilleries. No kitchen was not an issue for us as we would usually have a snacky dinner after a big pub lunch during the day.

    Natasha2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jim was an excellent host. Aside from his cabin being wonderful, he provides excellent taxi and touring services. He took us to a couple of places that we never would have gotten to on our own ! Highly recommend.

Everything in the home has been carefully considered and and it really is the perfect place for a stay on the beautiful island of Islay with a short walk to the Caol Ila Distillery for a start! • Staying on Islay is like taking a step back in time to no hustle and bustle, surrounded by wildlife and magnificent scenery. The house is set in a tranquil location overlooking The Paps on Jura. It is easy to navigate yourself around the island with so many places to visit and one or two drams to taste! I would love to return one day and would highly recommend a visit and Peter's house is the ideal base for exploring.

    Sallyanne2018-08-16T00:00:00Z

The Old Schoolroom is a lovingly renovated victorian schoolroom. Centrally located on the island it is an ideal place to explore Islay, Jura and, in the summer months, Colonsay. Light floods in from the huge windows and the underfloor heating and wood burning stove will keep you toasty whatever time of year you choose to visit. The cottage has a walled front garden and off road parking, we have storage for bikes and sporting equipment. Living next door we are on hand if you need anything.
The Old Schoolroom has been renovated to offer all the comfort you would expect. The rooms are flooded with light from the massive windows, and the underfloor heating keeps you toasty warm in the colder months. There is a peat burning stove in the lounge with a bucket of hand cut Islay peat as a welcome. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, oil, garlic, herbs etc to make your stay easier.
The Old Schoolroom is located halfway between the villages of Bridgend and Ballygrant(2 miles from each). Both villages have a hotel, Bridgend has a general store and shopping at Islay House Square. Ballygrant has a coffee shop selling delicious home baking. The main village of Bowmore is 5 miles away. We are ideally situated for Ardnahoe, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila and Jura distilleries. You can walk to Bridgend through the woods and along the river on a private estate track.
  • A++ as advertised. Meri was a great host. The schoolhouse is easy to find and very comfortable. I would stay there again. She also made scones and told us we could have a late checkout if needed.

    Preston2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot gush about this space enough! From the sweet and comfortable decor, to the many amenities and Mari's excellent communication, we LOVED our stay! The heated floors and wood stove turned our rainy stay into cozy luxury. Would highly reccomend!

    Jessie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Meri's place is the most lovely cottage you could imagine. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly and cuddly cat and later even more warmly by Meri herself with selfmade scones. Communicaton worked perfectly, the place is in superb condition and furnished with so much detail. We though about missing our ferry on purpose to stay a night longer. Thanks so much for having us!

    Valerie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Meri was a gracious hostess! She greeted us on our arrival, made us some homemade bread, and was flexible with us when our ferry was cancelled. We all felt at home here and will come back again next time we visit this beautiful island!

    Dominic2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique and pretty space. An old stone schoolhouse converted into two sizable bedrooms, kitchen, and a relaxing living room. A great launching point for your Islay tour, and an excellent place to spend the evening sampling you scotch.

    Peter2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Meri’s place gave us the perfect stay, it was exactly what we needed after spending 3 nights exploring Islay and Jura’s bothies. Warm, comfortable, clean AND fresh scones. We couldn’t have asked for more would recommend to anyone!

    Madi2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and spacious cottage with two nice bedrooms. It was great to stay in that cozy place after a cold rainy day. Little bit slower internet but the island has many other options how to spend a time. Worth it!

    Marek2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay! The house was clean and very comfortable and we really enjoyed the delicious scones and jam that Meri offered us. Meri was a great host and I totally recommend staying in the Old Schoolroom! Would definitely stay there again!

Our flat is close to the local shop and hotel and we offer great views along the river. You’ll love my flat because of the location we live in a conservation village and surrounded by the woods. My flat is good for couples and solo adventurers. The Flat is part of our home which is over 200 years old and is a listed building which still has many of its original features of when it was a Bank so please keep it this way so it can keep its features.
The Bank flat is situated at the end of our house opposite the road junction. When you arrive the flat will be opened for your stay and it is self check in. I will see you at some part of your visit but I am always available if needed by contact by my mobile. Please note you are coming to a self catering flat which means you have to cater for all your own meals i do not provide any food as guests are expecting breakfast which i do not offer. We do not provide any cleaning materials and the accommodation is not serviced everyday so items like toilet roll etc has to be provided by yourselves. The self catering is a lovely flat and separate access to it and not part of our home. We look forward to meeting you and available incase of emergencies. Check in 3pm onwards..departure 10am!! NO PARKING IN THE CAR PARK!! we have a doctor who stays in the bungalow next door and they need 24hr access in and out of car park at all times so we ask you not to park here. There is space at the front of the house where you can park even although it is a main road there are always cars parked here.If you are not comfortable with this there is a carpark located behind the Bridgend Hotel. Hi Please note our flat is a one bedroom and there are two single beds.We ask that you do not move the beds as this causes damage. The beds are not able to be joined together so please note this when booking. we do not supply any bedding for children or babies this is brought by yourselves. accommodation is for two people only any no additional guests will be allowed to stay in the property.
Spar shop across the road from accommodation.Local hotel is also across from us where they serve lunch and dinner and have a pub too. Plenty of restaurants and pubs 3 miles into Bowmore. Supermarket located in Bowmore. Glass recycling is opposite where we live do not leave it for us to clear up.
  • Sornbank is a great location from where to explore the island whether by bus or car. We enjoyed taking the local buses or taxis to where we were going and it worked out fine. There are some nice walks that you can do right from Sornbank as well. We were very comfortable there.

    Shelley2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bridgend is a very good location to discover Islay. Very large apartment and nice contact to Katherine and her husband.

    Arne2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, roomy flat with a bus connection right outside. Katherine met us while trying to find our way in and was very friendly! Not the most optimal place to stay while visiting Distilleries but probably the third best village as a base. Cooking facilities, nearby store made it even lovlier. A sure recommendation!

    Anton2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for bowmore and Port Ellen and Port Charlotte all central location and 15 mins drive from Port Askaig ferry terminal

    Tammy2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I can't reccomend renting this apartment highly enough! Bridgend is centrally located and you can get almost anywhere by the bus system. There are a few places that you need to hire a cab to get to or go on a tour.... I would highly reccommend a tour with Dougie of Islay Tours, our experience was so informative! His passion for the history of the island is infectious. Do please book ahead any whisky tours you want to take or hire a tour company for the purpose. I was only able to do one tour, but it was a good one, the Bog Off walk at Ardbeg! We were pretty much self guided on this trip but have found the people to be friendly and helpful. The pace is slow on Islay, and it has a rugged beauty that my wife and I have fallen in love with. The apartment itself is well appointed the shop across the way has just about everything you could need and the neat modern surroundings make for a comfortable stay. Thank you Katherine for a great stay on Islay!

  • Katherine's place was exactly as described! Wonderful location. Excellent host, very friendly and welcoming! Katherine gave us great tips on where to go. Would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back!! Thank you.

  • Location is central on the Island, close to bus stop.

  • During our stay here, we saw heron and grey wagtail on the river, fish jumping under the bridge in the evenings, and on our last evening a golden eagle soared over the woods behind. The flat is just over the bridge from the Spar shop and the Bridgend Hotel, and there is a lovely woodland walk nearby. We found the flat comfortable and Katherine was friendly and helpful. We would love to stay again.

  • Wonderful location, great house and well supplied kitchen

  • Wonderful place in Islay with a fantastic view. Comfy and very well equipped, everything was perfect.

    Eric2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We took a family trip across the UK and stayed at 3 different AirBnBs on this trip. Iain's Cross House in Brigend was by far the best AirBnB of the trip! When you walk in, you can immediately tell this is not just a vacation rental, but some place someone considers home. It was warm, inviting, and well thought out. The kitchen was easy to use as was the fireplace. We were primarily on Islay to visit the distilleries, and this was the perfect location, central to everything. Nothing was more than 20-30 minutes away. The views are also incredible at this house, and we wish we had had better weather to enjoy the outdoors more. We had a very lovely stay and would definitely stay here again on another visit to Islay!

    Jacki2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing house. Beautiful views, and a wonderfully modern renovation of an old stone house. The location is great - pretty central between a lot of places of interest. We loved just walking out along the Loch in the evenings.

    Christopher2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A great location right on the beach. Perfectly situated in the middle of the island. Very comfy with everything you need for a great holiday.

    Simon2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Cross house east is the perfect location on Islay. If you are visiting the whisky distilleries, it is in the middle of the island so easy drives from the house to the distilleries. It’s on the beach so we enjoyed great walks along the sand. The house is beautiful and has modern amenities. My favorite things were the heated floors and towel racks. It has an amazing kitchen and a big refrigerator. Beds and linens were very comfortable.

    Jill2019-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cross House East is an absolute pearl on Islay. Recently refurbished, it’s modern but still cozy and atmospheric. The kitchen is huge, very handy and being one with the living space makes it perfect for spending time in the evenings, possibly near the fireplace. The location is very central, too so you can reach all the corners of Islay in less than half an hour drive. Absolutely recommended for Islay explorers.

  • Margaret's place is top notch. So many special added touches, and having a living room space and kitchenette made us feel right at home. Margaret was very welcoming and showed us in when we arrived. She was also very responsive and friendly to communicate with. Would happily stay here again next time we find ourselves on Islay!

  • Margaret was an amazing host, was able to accommodate our early arrival and communication was very easy. The loft is quite separate from the rest of the house (sharing just the entrance area) and provided a lovely place to recharge overnight.

  • This is a beautiful location and a wonderful apartment. There's plenty of room, and the place was super clean. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The price was a little bit higher than some places, but for us, it was totally worth it. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Rob2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Iain's house in Bowmore was amazing. The three bedrooms were comfortable and nicely furnished so it actually felt like a home rather than a rental. The underfloor heating in the two bathrooms were very much appreciated. Appliances etc were all modern and high-spec and basics were provided to make simple meals easy. The best thing was the open plan kitchen/living space with a balcony that has spectacular views over the sea. The location is perfect, walking distance to the shops and many good dining options. It’s also a great base for exploring Islay as it’s a relatively central location. Iain was always quick to respond to any queries and very accommodating of our requests. I also found interaction with his caretaker very easy through our stay. She popped by very quickly – within 5 minutes – when we needed her help with the boiler one evening. Highly recommend.

It also has a kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and table with 6 chairs. The pod is accessed through large patio doors which are perfect for enjoying the panoramic view. There is a large decking area in front with a picnic bench to enjoy dining al fresco.
The Bruichladdich pod is situated near the village of Bridgend, located in the heart of the inner Hebridean Isle of Islay. The pod has stunning views over Loch Indaal and the surrounding countryside.
Ideally located for bird watchers (the pod overlooks the geese roosting on the shores of Loch Indaal) wildlife enthusiasts and whisky visitors. There is also trout and sea fishing available locally.
  • We loved our stay at the pod. It was super cosy and warm which was key for us during a storm on the island. Its well located in the centre of the island so is a great place to travel from. Helen was a fantastic host, meeting us and responding quickly to us always. Would love to return as had everything we needed.

    Gary2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely pod with a beautiful view. It gave a camping feel due to it's size and location. Loved the whisky bottle lights and that each pod was named after a nearby distillery / town.

    Mark2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, we had car trouble and luckily caught the last ferry to Islay for the day and Helen was so good about accommodating our late check-in time. This pod is so cute and smells like wood (so nice), everything looks and works well, and waking up to cows in the pasture was an added bonus. The views are also lovely!

    Waverly2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Islay was stunning! We were very lucky to have a sunny warm couple of days. The pod was cosy, clean and the location was great. There is a book with information about getting around the isle and Helen was a valuable source for tips.

    Georgirena-Nena2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful experience. Helen was so kind, even arranging to pick us up from the bus & drive us to the pod. Pod was awesome, perfect for two, and a beautiful place to relax and truly escape - landscape and scenery were just beautiful! Definitely didn’t want to leave - hoping we will visit again soon!

  • Rosemary and Donald are incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts - they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and helped us with planning activities and dining on the island. Our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. The setting is beautiful, on a farm with sheep and horses. Rosemary and Donald run a pottery cafe on site, and we spent a lovely afternoon painting pottery with Rosemary. We had a great experience at Persabus and would return any time we were on Islay.

    Sarah2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Rosemary and Donald are true gems. The space was perfect for two, and the local insights made for the most enjoyable sight-seeing and dining experiences. They made us breakfast, they made us reservations at local restaurants, and they gave us expert advice on what to see and do during our unplanned time. Breakfast was delicious, and it was awesome to eat with the other guests and learn of their lives and travels. We would love to see Rosemary, Donald, dog Ruby, horse Hansel and their precious B&B again!

    Juan2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rosemary and Donald were lovely hosts, warm, fun, informational. They gave us a great orientation to some hidden treasures around Islay, Donald is "long" time Isly Family and knows the island from front to back- history culture and Whisky! The art and pottery in the house is Rosemary's beautiful personal work---You will have to purchase to take home! This is the kind of B&B you want to return to- everything about it especially, Donald and Rosemary!

  • Lovely bed and breakfast located right near the ferry terminal, Caol Ila, and Bunnahabhain distilleries. We visited for a night with our daughter, and the farm was a fantastic base to explore the island. The hosts had excellent tips for things to do, and even contacted us after we checked out to let us know they found our daughter's crayons. Breakfast was fantastic and very much appreciated on a holiday morning when it would have been hard to find it elsewhere. Only wish we had more time to spend on Islay.

  • Fantastic cottage right next to Main Street in Bowmore. 3 minute walk to Bowmore Distillery and Lochside Restaurant, local bus stops and down the street from The Bowmore Hotel. Space was very convenient to make our own food with, good amount of dishware and space to cook, and the living quarters were spacey and very cozy during the cold windy nights! Very wonderful experience, would definitely recommend for anyone coming to Islay who will be relying on the bus system as it's very close to most distilleries (20-25 mins from Bruichladdich, 25mins from Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg and 25 mins from Caol Ila) especially if you're coming for the whisky!

This is basic, comfortable accomodation on the Isle of Jura with sleeping & relaxing space in the caravan & use of the bathroom in the main house, just 10m away. (No toilet / sink in caravan). There are no cooking facilities but there is a kettle, toaster & small fridge in caravan. Bring your own bedding & towels or hire from us for £5/person per stay (pay on arrival). We're right in the heart of Craighouse, just 7 mins walk from the pub, shop, distillery & cafe. Great alternative to camping!
Please make sure you read all of the information in the listing so you understand that this is simple, comfortable accomodation with separate bathroom facilities, no wifi, no heating and no kitchen access (kettle and toaster in caravan and sink for washing up in the back porch of the main house). The caravan sits alongside our family home and there is a steep track from the road meaning we're close to the action but have lovely views! It's a caravan and this is Scotland so, whilst it will keep you dry and comfortable, bear in mind that the internal temperature will vary with the season, weather and sometimes even the hour... We can provide bedding and one towel each for £5 per person (payable on arrival) or you can bring your own sleeping bag / sheets/ duvets and towels. Well behaved dogs (who don't jump on furniture or chase chickens) with responsible owners (who pick up dog poo) are most welcome by arrangement. Check out 10am.
6000 deer, 240 people, 3 mountains, 1 distillery and 1 pub! Whether it's wildlife, whisky or wonderful walking, Jura is a great place to come for a wee break! We're situated in Craighouse, which is the island's main village, with the shop, hall, hotel (with pub), distillery, cafe and craft shop in easy walking distance. The village sits at the south end of Small Isles Bay and is a great base from which to explore - take a gentle stroll along the shore and up to the traditional crofting township of Keils; check out the photographic exhibition of 'Old Jura'; cycle to Corran sands spotting seals along the way; take a hike up the Paps; check out Tea on the Beach; visit the gin distillery; discover the world's 3rd largest whirlpool; see where George Orwell wrote 1984; check out the local crafts; sample the local whisky; take a boat trip; and then have a well earnt drink in the pub the KLF visited just before they burnt a million quid*. *they didn't even leave me a tip...
  • We loved staying at the caravan! It was well equipped, comfy and clean. Kirsten gave us great tips for local swimming, and the bathroom and washing areas were clean and very helpful. We also enjoyed our morning wake ups to the chickens and loved visiting Jura!

    Helen2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, and lovely chickens! If you're on a budget and want a nice place to rest your head, the trailer on the top of the hill will do the trick!

  • Cozy, cheapest accomodation in Islay and with an amazing view. If you are travelling on budget is the best place to go.

    Dario2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The caravan is exactly as described, cosy and dry and located just a couple of steps away from the house with bathroom and utility area. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and very kindly gave us space to store our bikes out of the rain and to hang out our wet clothes. We would be very happy to return.

    Samantha2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice and cosy caravan on the stunning island of Jura, Kirsten and her mum were very helpful and answering all our questions and tried their best to ensure we had a nice time. It is as what's described: a simple accommodation that will keep you dry, but it is clean and reallyy comfi for 2 people, and we didn't get cold at all (what we worried about as there's no heating). The location is great and it was really easy to go explore the island from there. Thanks for everything!

Our house is situated in the village of Keills just a few minutes from the Ferry Terminal at Port Askaig. The house has stunning views down the Sound of Islay towards Kintyre. Finlaggan Visitor Centre, Bunnahabhain, Caolila and the soon to be built Ardnahoe Distillery are all a short drive away from the house. The house is fully equipped with all you need to make it a home from home. The garden in front of the house is perfect to sit in and while away the hours in the sun
Originally built in the 18th Century as a Weavers Cottage the house has been extensively renovated in the last couple of years whilst still remaining a family home.
Keills is a small friendly village with roughly 50 houses and is a nice quiet neighbourhood. There is a swing park and a playing fields which can access to the back of the house.
  • Everything was perfect! Would recommend staying here. Walking distance to the bauchenndaniē. Thanks

    Hugo2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Weavers Cottage, the place is lovely - very warm, cosy, spacious and clean, and pet friendly. Catherine is super friendly and a great host - we asked to stay very last minute after bailing out of camping (gale force winds & heavy rain) and Catherine responded instantly to our request saying it would be fine. Home made fudge on arrival and great visitors book of local walks / attractions / recommended restaurants etc, and Catherine is just next door and was happy to advise on anything. The kitchen has all the utensils you’d ever need to cook a feast, and overall it was just a great place to come back to after a day out walking in the rain or distillery hopping :) thanks again Catherine! X

  • Catherine's place is a beautiful, quirky spot with great views across Holy Loch. We enjoyed watching the boats crossing the loch. The kitchen is well set up for cooking.

  • My husband and 3 of his pals stayed at Catherine’s place (I didn’t go personally), and she was gracious enough to welcome them. They had a wonderful time there and would recommend the place to anyone!

  • An absolute sanctuary with a wonderful view over the fields and waterways.! This cottage is very well appointed and is filled with generous and thoughtful touches like good quality breakfast supplies and local soaps. It is near the bus stop which was great as we wanted to go whisky tasting! It is really cosy and comfortable, with everything you need. Catherine was unable to greet us but left a lovely note which made us feel immediately welcome and at home.

    Brett & Heather2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed at Weaver's Cottage for a few nights. Catherine was a wonderful host who welcomed us on the night we arrived. She had thoughtfully left us a package of food which was more than enough for breakfast the next day. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and well suited for our group. We had a wonderful stay at the cottage and would certainly recommend it to anyone coming to Islay.

The room is very spacious with its own en-suite bathroom. Fiona is lovely and easygoing. I felt completely at home here. Sparkling clean and tastefully decorated. It really was a fabulous base for my whisky tasting visit! Thanks Fiona!

  • We stayed in the Millhouse which was very comfortable and had everything you could need. The Persabus Farm sits on a country road with the most amazing scenery over to Jura and down the sound of Jura. Lovely walks all around and all the locals we met were incredibly friendly.

  • Had a great stay at Persebus Millhouse. Rosemary was a wonderful host and offered us some great local tips. Would definitely stay again!

    Vijay2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rosemary's place is loated just outside of Port Askaig, on the road to Bunnahabhain Distillery. The place was well laid out with plenty of room, and easily walkable to the port if you don't mind the big hill. It was very quiet and comfortable for sleeping at night. From the upstairs bedroom there are some stunning views looking over to Jura. Rosemary was a very friendly host who was a pleasure to talk to. I would easily stay at here again or in one of her bed and breakfast rooms. Lots of info on the website wwwpersabus.co.uk. If you are going to the distilleries and are using a taxi, they all know with the Persabus farm is, so it was really easy to get around.

  • We enjoyed the stay on Islay and it was a treat to stay a night in such a serene and scenic location.

  • Great place! Spacious and clean, perfect for a larger group. Hosts were helpful and prompt with communication

    Cindy2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse was such a comfortable, large space to stay in. If only we had more time on Islay - there was so much to see. It was very windy at night, so we huddled up watching TV and hung out in the kitchen for a long time. As for the check in, Rosemary was great at communicating with us to know when we would arrive. We were able to let ourselves in and headed a short drive down the road to a really delicious dinner at the hotel in town. Thanks again for everything!

  • This is a fantastic place to explore Islay and Jura. One of the best places I've stayed on the Scottish Islands. Ideally located in Bowmore across the road from the Co-op and some nice shops and restaurants. Bowmore is central to everything on the island so is a great town to base yourself. The house is well decorated with lovely art work on the walls. The rooms are all big and the kitchen and bathrooms were great. The house was impeccably clean. I cannot recommend this place enough and if we return to Islay in the future I would not hesitate to book it.

They gave fantastic tips on how to enjoy Islay to the utmost. We were a little sad to have to leave. The country location provided a well needed respite from busy tourist spots yet within easy access to everything we needed. Would absolutely stay again.

    Caitlin2019-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect little space for your Islay break. Well located on the island to get to all corners and next door to a quaint pub and shop if you need to stock up. There is a well equipped kitchenette/lounge with a delightful balcony over the river. The bedroom is two twin beds only so not ideal for couples but perfect for friends or family. If you are driving onto Islay on a rented vehicle via ferry and are on a tight time schedule with flights in or out of mainland Scotland then do be careful. Occasionally (especially Autumn and Winter) there are big storms which will disrupt the ferry service and make it a challenge leaving the island. Rather give yourself a few days leeway each way in case this happens. The host of this flat also can assist with car hire and she was a huge help in getting us sorted after been stuck for an extra day on the island. We had an amazing time on Islay. It really is a delightful place with mouthwatering whiskies and delectable scenery!

  • Very nice accomodation, near Port Askaig and Bowmore can be reached in 10/15 minutes by car. The host is very kind and prepared for us a wonderful breakfast. She was very caring to make our stay as nice as possible.

  • Louise and Gordon could not have been kinder . The house is situated ideally central for touring Islay. We were cycling and it was great to have a central base for our 4 days cycling holiday. Beds v comfy , nice bed linen and towels changed. Breakfast was lovely fresh fruit cereals yogurt toast and Louise even offered us picnics . Highly recommmended. These are lovely people!

Cross House West is a traditional cottage which has been renovated and extended. It is very bright and warm with unbroken views to the west and across the sea. The beach is a short walk away across the grass and there is a safe garden. The house has an open plan kitchen/dining and lounge with comfortable couches, gas cooking and an extending table. The 3 bedrooms have a variety of beds and, for visiting friends or a slightly larger group, we can supply an inflatable bed for another 2 people.
We supply all cooking essentials such as cooking oils and spices along with teas and coffees for your entire stay. There is also bubble bath and shower gel. There is central heating and constant hot water. Pet dogs are welcome for a charge of £20 per dog.
Cross Houses are in a very peaceful spot looking onto the shore.
  • The perfect place to stay on Islay. Incredible view, centrally located, easy check in and parking, roomy newly renovated house, fast WiFi, fireplace, children’s books and toys... I could go on and on. Just book it.

  • We liked this cottage at the beach a lot! Lots of space in the house, big kitchen and living room. Also suitable for a bigger family. Two bathrooms. Amazing view and nice garden too. Islay is a lovely island a absolute worth travelling there.

  • A great equipped and nicely located small house with direct sea view. Especially for small children, the equipment offers a lot, such as an extra game room. The living room is large and very comfortable and the kitchen equipment leaves nothing to be desired. Also fast WiFi was available.
