Places to stay in Plainfield
Our house in rural Plainfield is a quiet place to enjoy Vermont's country roads, fields, mountains and night skies. Spring will bring blooming lilacs and fresh garden lettuce. Summer in Vermont is glorious, with blue skies, verdant fields, and full gardens. In fall, the maples turn red, orange, and gold. We serve guests a hearty breakfast. We welcome people of all races/nationalities. We strive to accommodate people with disabilities. We love to host families with babies and young children.
We have a light airy house in postcard-beautiful Plainfield, VT. Plainfield is a rural town in central Vermont within easy driving distance of skiing, hiking, swimming. A great location for seeing fall color on Vermont's back roads. Close to Montpelier, the state capital. Equidistant between Boston and Montreal (3 hours each). You can walk (or run) for hours on the quiet dirt roads in the vicinity. Room has a double bed with a new mattress, and is in a separate section of the house, that includes a roomy living room and a futon that folds out into a second double bed. Space has a separate thermostat you can adjust. Private bathroom includes a new tiled shower. At present we have a crib in the room, and the space is baby-friendly. We enjoy children and well-behaved pets. We do not permit pets to be left here alone. You may use our refrigerator. We enjoy serving you breakfast adapted to your tastes.
Our house is on a dirt road out in the country, a five minute drive to Plainfield village, 10 minutes to Barre, and 20 minutes to Montpelier, the state capital.
  • Breakfast was homemade and hearty with locally-sourced ingredients, delicious way to start the day exploring this part of beautiful Vermont. Gracious hosts who were unobstrusive but always available when needed. We enjoyed wonderful conversations over breakfast, weather was chilly but we felt warm and welcomed by Gail and Strat.

  • I so very much enjoyed my bucolic stay at Gail and Strat's house. I took my dog for a nice walk down the road in the morning before breakfast and enjoyed the mountain views and pine air immensely. Gail made breakfast for us, complete with delicious, homemade apple butter. They also saved my day by suggesting I make a slight change to my itinerary and visit the ski resort town of Stowe, which was wonderful. I can't wait to visit again!

  • Gail is by far the most inviting and hospitable host that I've ever met through traveling! We shared many great stories over breakfast in the morning. The views from the home were incredible. I can't recommend this place enough!

    Leon2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved staying at Gail and Strat’s Airbnb! It was exactly what we were looking for while we visited this area of Vermont. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast and conversation with them in the morning. I highly recommend staying at their Airbnb and we would love to come back.

    Kimberly2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean spacious area, loved the room heater in the bath room that doubles as a towel warmer! Gail made a delicious breakfast, accommodating my food intolerances beautifully and spoiling my husband with treats made from local bounty...

    Anne2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful and quiet home away from home in a nice house on top of a hill with marvelous views. The guest space consists of a lovely, large living room with separate bedroom and large bathroom and has its own entrance. Gail and Strat are the sweetest! They are very welcoming and wonderful people, delightful conversational partners. Our morning chats during the yummy and healthy breakfast were the best start into the day. Highly recommend!

    Martine2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gail was an amazing host! She was very accommodating when traffic made our ETA much later! Great place to stay! And breakfast was delicious!

    Rebecca2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location in the heart of Vermont. Spacious, comfortable and clean accommodation, hearty homemade breakfast and wonderful hosts with local knowledge! Highly recommend.

Allenwood Farm is nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains in Central VT. We're a 15min drive from Montpelier and a quick walk to Goddard. A solar array provides renewable energy year round. We rent our farmhouse out to guests, and live right next door. You have full access to a beautiful kitchen, living room, library, infrared sauna, 2 bathrooms, and 2 porches - all refinished! We've got places to hike as well! Each of the 3 bedrooms are rented individually, or the house as a whole.
You're welcome to wander the property, pet the animals, and make yourself at home! There is an infrared sauna on site as well.
Montpelier (the capital city) is a quick 15 minute drive where you can have a cup of local coffee at Capitol Grounds, wicked yummy Thai (between 11-2) at Wilaiwan's Kitchen, a local brew at Three Penny Taproom, and the largest salad you've ever eaten at J Morgans. Treat yourself to an Indie flick at the Savoy Theater, and a Maple Creemee at Morse Farm! The nearby Ski Resorts include Bolton (37 min), Stowe (50 min), Sugarbush (55 min) , Burke Mountain (1 hour), Jay Peak (1.25 hours), and Killington (1.5 hours). Sugarbush was my home mountain growing up, so I’m a little biased! Bolton is the least expensive mountain but it’s also the smallest. Jay Peak usually gets the most snow. Stowe and Killington are the most popular. Take a hike up to Goddard College, or swing through Groton State Forest for swimming, horse trails, kayaking, and hiking. Route 2 is a beautiful corridor that can take you into the Northeast Kingdom as well!
  • Tracy was wonderful. The house was done so well and had great energy. From the heated floors, sauna, freshly ground coffee, it was the most thoroughly thought out Airbnb I've ever been to. I wish we had more time to spend on the property taking with Tracy and Jonathan! Hope to return one day!

    Elizabeth2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Johnatan are very kind and it’s easy to communicate with them, the appartement was beautiful and so quiet, we really enjoyed it for our Valentine’s Day night ! Hope we will be back again ! Thanks a lot 😊

    Maeva2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • 12/10... such a great Airbnb. I came to graduate from Goddard College and it’s just a stones throw down the street. I’m serious when I saw everything was perfect but I’ll leave you with this... you know your Airbnb hosts have thought of everything when they have a caffeinated tea, an herbal tea AND a sleepy time tea. A tea for every mood.

    Amelia2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really wonderful space, and the hosts were able to accommodate me at the last minute. Very helpful!

    Brian2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best AirBnB I have ever stayed in. Not only are you able to love on the goats at the property, but the house is stunning, the sauna made for a great escape from the winter, and they thought of every detail (from yoga mats to extra toothbrushes/paste, snacks in the kitchen, coffee and more!). I can't recommend this place highly enough, and would come back in a heartbeat if in the area again.

    Riley2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place and the hosts are always very responsive and helpful.

    Brian2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • This space is well-organized, clearly labeled, clean and well-appointed. It's a great value.

    Brian2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Johnathan’s home was beautiful with lots of thoughtful touches for their guests, as well as a library with an impressive collection of books and a sauna! Tracy was incredibly sweet and offered to help with our bags, and gave us a tour of the house, even though we got in pretty late. She offered to take us to meet the animals on the farm in the morning and we got to brush their horses which was an incredible experience! They were wonderful hosts and their home is backed by the perfect view of Vermont.

  • Really lovely place! Very clean, and a great host. Felt right at home

    Will2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Jonathan's house is a true gem- it had everything we could possibly need while away from home, and even more! From the warm, inviting, super well-stocked and immaculately clean kitchen to the yoga/sauna room, the lovely library with books and games, the goats and horses, and last but most important- such warm hospitality from the hosts, we just wished we had more time there! We hope to become repeat guests and visit again soon.

  • Great spot!

    Jacob2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Jonathan are wonderful hosts! They were so kind and welcoming, and the farmhouse was the perfect little escape from the city. AND I got to pet goats, so truly no downsides.

    Cassie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Jonathon were amazing. They stayed up late to let us in and showed us around. We loved their house. Wish we could have stayed longer

    David2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This guest house on a farm was absolutely perfect. I really appreciated the welcome we got to meet the animals and to feel at home on the property. Everything was clean and beautiful, my daughter very much enjoyed the jacuzzi tub. A great spot to land if visiting the capitol area.

    Anna2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really nice and Tracy is very welcoming and available We strongly recommend this accommodation

    Franck2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy & Jonathan’s place was great- clean space, beautiful farm area, and afforded us a chance to get out to the Cabot farm before moving further West. They gave us great local tips, including a suggestion to go to the Royal Orchid in Montpelier for Thai. We really appreciate the hospitality! Would definitely recommend.

  • The cabin is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. If you want that log cabin getaway in Vermont, this is the place to rent!

    Darin2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Oliver’s place. Everything worked out great!

    Brian2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is truly lovely and was perfect for our group of 10! Conveniently located for access to a wide variety of outdoor activities and a quiet retreat to return to at the end of the night.

    Sutton2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and quiet place in the Woods. Oliver answers very quickly when we have questions. Very nice beds and rooms.

    Bente2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and accessible—lots of space, very clean and private. We had a wonderful time!

    Lexi2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for privacy - you found the right place! The house is amazing, the location is superb. We rented the entire house - everyone had their own room - no one got stuck with a bad room because every room was perfect. Just in case anyone has a problem with stairs there are three bedrooms upstairs, two downstairs. There are two bathrooms - one on each floor. However the ground floor has a bathtub (no shower) and upstairs is a big bathroom with a shower stall. Just be aware if stairs are a challenge or climbing into a bathtub is difficult for you. The only tip I would give future guests: when Oliver sends you the info for check-in, write it down on a piece of paper. We arrived after dark- it was 8 degrees outside and my phone was not retrieving messages. I had written the code on a paper at home and thankfully gave it to my husband who I was able to call. Getting in was super easy then. BTW no problem with wi-fi inside - internet was good! As I said, we were all satisfied with our accommodations and look forward to returning!

    Audrey2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • It’s very nice and cute place. All kind of games are available. At night it’s really dark outside may be scary for some but adventure for other!

Finding, and getting into, this AirBNB room is EASY, QUICK AND SEAMLESS! (I promise! :-)
My home is on a very quiet road and your bedroom has a nice view of the river and quaint Montpelier. Please note, however, that the view includes an overlook of a busier route. Neither I, nor the overwhelming majority of my guests, are bothered by the white noise of Berlin street, however about 2% of them have commented on it. As such, I want to share it with you in advance. :-)
  • Amazing host with great hospitality. We needed one thing from him during the trip and he was on it right away and was very reliable. Would highly recommend to anyone!

  • If you want a spot to stay in a quiet and beautiful location, this is the place. It backs up to mountains and woods. When my girlfriend and I had car troubles and couldn’t get back to the Airbnb, Oliver gave us a extra night. We couldn’t appreciate that enough! I highly recommend the apartment and if you have any problems, the host will definitely make it right!

  • Totally suited my needs. Plan to arrive in the daylight. Quiet and comfortable.

    Candy2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lori & Oliver's place is nice and rustic as advertised. Getting there is a little adventure if you are arriving in darkness; the road is literally over the mountains so be read for total darkness (I enjoyed it). It is deep in the mountain so, no phone service at the actual house, but I had service until like 200ft before arriving. A very nice touch with the 2 wicker furniture chairs they had at the side of the house. We had a chance to sit and enjoy the silence, breeze, and sun while having some coffee and chatting. thanks for a nice place in the mountains of VT!

Looking for the quintessential Vermont experience? Find it here in this 1875 farmhouse in the heart of Maple Corner, an artsy community 15 min north of Montpelier. The farmhouse is clean, peaceful, and close to outdoor adventures as well as great live music. You're free to relax in the spacious room with a cozy bed & large back porch (plus enjoy full access to the house's common areas), explore Curtis Pond, or experience live music at the Whammy Bar (live music, great food, local brews).
Maple Corner is an iconic part of Vermont with a vibrant community of artists, musicians, farmers, and outdoor enthusiasts. My house is right across the street from the Maple Corner Community Center, which offers yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as a number of other events you can attend. You can find the calendar online. The Maple Corner Store is a true gem. The house is just 100 feet from the store. There's a great bar and live music venue in the back of the store called the Whammy Bar. If you're here on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, be sure to stop by the bar to hear live music. The community also has an extensive trail network - great for running, biking, and skiing. If you're interested in using these trails, they're public and I can help you find the trailheads. My favorite places in the neighborhood are: Curtis Pond, the Whammy Bar, Kent Corners, and Old West Church.
  • Awesome little area and house with Vermont flavor. Cozy, sweet cat, nice people. Would stay again.

  • Great place to stay. A large room with lots of amenities

    Ben2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth always stayed in communication and provided everything we needed for our stay. The place was immaculate and absolutely beautiful. The cat was also amazing 10/10 would pet again. Next time I visit northern Vermont I will most likely stay here again. It's in a quiet area but close enough to the cities and towns most people look to visit.

  • A great space in a picture perfect Vermont village. A really great value at the price.

    Brian2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! WHAT A SPOT. I put friends up here from NYC and DC and they were completely over the moon. Between the friendly cat and the hip decor, they were in heaven. The bed was very comfortable and the room was super warm despite it blizzarding outside. This is a gem of a place. Highly recommend!

  • This host was very easy to reach and great to work with.

  • Elizabeth’s house is very cozy, with lots of character and decorated with care which gives it real personality. The host was welcoming and helpful, suggesting things to check out in the area. She is responsive and procedures to check in are extremely clear and well detailed. If you’re a cat lover, you will surely fall for their pet like we did, the friendliest and most affectionate kitty we’ve ever seen.

This is a two floor "mother-in-law apartment" that is the modernized addition to an 18th century house. It has a really gorgeous, sunny kitchen and a full (but less gorgeous) bathroom (bathtub/shower insert has seen better days, but is clean). The second floor has high ceilings. There is a private entrance and I live in the other side of the house. The windows face South and North.
This is a two-floor "mother-in-law apartment" with a full kitchen and bathroom. It has a separate entrance and is available for longer term rentals.
Plainfield Village is quiet, friendly, funky, and close to so many cool things. It's a great community. Within walking distance, we have: a food coop, a pizza restaurant with a bar, a yoga studio, the most amazing used book store you'll ever find, Goddard College, cool New England architecture, and lots of mountains, streams, and ponds. The town of Plainfield abuts Groton State Forest, and is on the nascent Cross Vermont Trail, which you can access by foot or bike. This area is loaded with opportunities for foodies and beer lovers. We also sport a general store and a hardware store in nearby villages that, while remaining stores, are also restaurants and live music venues. Speaking of live music, Central Vermont is the home of an enormous music community, so you can find live music virtually any night of the week somewhere nearby. Montpelier has an arthouse movie theater, called the Savoy, that sells beer and wine, among other things. The lower floor has low lounge chair seating and a couch, in addition to regular movie chairs.
  • This was a really cool apartment - very charming. Close to some great restaurants in Montpelier, and not far from great skiing. Not from from Stowe or the Craftsbury outdoor center. Paula was a great host -- very attentive to our stay. We were very cozy, even though it was -11F outside one night. Would recommend this stay.

  • Wonderful , thoughtful host. Great experience! Best of people

    Lisa2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Paula’s place is superb. It is exactly as she describes and even better. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the place when we arrived. Paula gave us a disclaimer about the looks of the bathtub, but the bathtub is completely fine. All appliances are in great working condition. The brand new wood pellet stove is wonderful and keeps the place toasty. The place is very comfy and cozy, and perfectly centered in the quiet town of Plainfield. Paula was quick to give great recommendations and provide advice when asked. She is very responsive via text, and only just next door most of the time if you need any help. We especially liked the location of the place because we could drive to all the parts of Vermont we wanted to see: Montpelier, Stowe, Hill Farmstead up in Greensboro, etc. Great value! Stay here if you can!

  • Paula was very friendly and helpful. She has pride in her home and it shows.

    Bill2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The definition of “hospitality” in the dictionary should read one word, “Paula”. This woman went out of her way to make us feel welcome! We traveled for six hours, and accommodations were more than to our liking. Her place is right near Montpelier and I-89, so we were able to hit up Waterbury, Stowe, and Burlington in one day. It was quiet, beautiful, and better than I imagined.

UPDATE 8/5: SlTE CLOSED UNTIL BUILDING FINISHED. WILL OPEN CALENDAR BACK UP WHEN FINISHED. THE STRUCTURE- Unavailable for construction for new Airbnb. We are starting this transition in June. You'll love staying on our property because you'll have full access to the 7 acres. We live the next town over. Less then 10 minutes away. Complete privacy from any neighbor. Our property has the VAST trail directly attached. During the Summer/Spring/Fall seasons you can walk to the trail.
The area is in the country but a located close to small towns for needs. Cabot is 5 minutes away, Danville is 10 away and Hardwick is 15 minutes away. You can't see the neighbors. But if loud enough they may here you or vice versa. We had many family get togethers when my dad lived across the street with fire works for 4th of July with no complaints. I want guest to have fun but please no fights or yelling. Should the neighbors complain we may not be able to continue the camping fun.
  • I had an awesome time staying on Jessica’s property. It was in a beautiful location perfect for my mountain biking trip. She was incredibly helpful and accommodating while still giving me plenty of privacy. Can’t wait to come back!

    Jameson2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The property is wonderful, secluded and quiet, and they have provided wonderful accommodations for a camp spot. Our pup loves being able to run around and as our second stay here we had some friends join us with their dog as well. The night sky is clear and gorgeous, and we were close enough to town to take a half day trip in to explore. We highly recommend their property.

    Mikaila2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding stay! I was totally expecting just a plot of grass begat I could set up a tent on, but Jessica and her family blew me away! The were super helpful when suggesting good local breakfast places with real Vermont maple syrup too! 10/10 would come back if I’m in Vermont again!

    Noah2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing spot! The property is beautiful and secluded. We had a great time and for a camp site there were more amenities than we ever would have expected or needed. They communicated with us quickly and stopped by when we arrived to say hi and make sure we had everything we needed. We didn't leave the site but they had a book with some area places to eat and see. Definitely recommend staying here, we will be for sure.

  • I love this hidden gem so much! Even if you live in the area, it is the perfect place to get away for a night or two. The kitchen was stocked with cookware, so we brought our groceries and had everything there to cook with! We stayed nice and toasty with the heater, and had plenty of movies to choose from between Hulu, Netflix, and the DVD’s available. The place was so clean and stocked with everything you could possibly need for your stay. It was private, quiet, and calm. It was absolutely perfect. Nick and Liz are great hosts!! Highly recommend :) Can’t wait to come back sometime!

  • What a cool place! Very unique and well put together A-frame cottage situated in a beautiful location. It was clean and well stocked with towels and blankets. Heater worked well, just leave the bathroom door open at night or it will get COLD in there haha.

  • Liz & Nick, THANK YOU! My girlfriend and I loved every second we spent at the Strawberry Moon Guest House. It was a perfect spot to get away for a weekend and we will definitely be coming back. We recommend this spot to anyone who wants a place tucked away to relax in such a peaceful environment!

  • We loved this great triangle get away! The place is really cute and cozy, but also provided everything we needed. I enjoyed making a meal with the full kitchen. The bedroom is an awesome place to sleep and the book exchange was a nice surprise. I would definitely come back again- we wished we could stay longer.

    Eren2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful! My girlfriend and I stayed only one night, but its unique charm had us wishing that we could've stayed longer.

    Greg2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This A-frame property gives everything two people may need. Much more spacious then I expected from the pictures! Made every meal here with ease and watched every sunrise from the loft window. Talked to chickens a little as they were cold and didn't want to talk much. Saw moose tracks and enjoyed the beautiful stars at night. What more do you need from a Vermont vacation?

    Kristin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

Come stay with Rose and Danny as we restore the barn on the Historic Kimball Dairy Farm built in 1850.. You will sleep in a bed from the original owners in a loft with exposed hand hewn beams and look out over woodlands and meadow. You can lounge on the patio which was once an old grain silo, sit around the fire dish, listen to the fountain in the koi pond, or chill on the covered deck. We have a brand new private shower and sink to wash up or do the dishes on the ground floor of the barn
There's a mini fridge, two burner infrared hot plate, Bluetooth solar speaker, USB ports, and cold well water fountain, and hard wired smoke detectors. We have hammocks to hang off the giant hemlocks and a bench at the top of our meadow that overlooks the valley. There are running trails cut through the forest on our land and we will provide you with maps and tips on the best places to hike, ride , drink, hang out or party in the area. We are outdoor enthusiasts and can direct you to some of our many local trails. Rainy day? No problem ! The State House, Vermont History Museum, Ben and Jerry's, Bread and Puppet, The Lost Nation Theater, The Vermont Antique Trail, The Prohibition Pig, Three Penny Taproom, and more breweries than you can shake a growler at are wicked close by. This is going to be fun!
  • The place is exactly as advertised! Great location and great hosts.

  • We travel a lot and stay in air BNBs 99% of the time, this has been our all time favorite one! I was a little hesitant at first because I was afraid it would be cold; however we were quite comfortable! It had everything we could have needed and more! The barn truly was a major part of our adventure in Vermont!!!

    Beverly2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Funky 1800's barn loft was so much fun for our a three night stay. This Airbnb is for the Adventurous. The barn in in North Central Vermont and Rosealie and Danny have fixed it up with eclectic cute figurines, accessories, paintings, photographs and furniture. The bed is AMAZING. We were there to hike and it was so nice to climb in a comfortable and warm bed. Rosealie and Danny went out of their way to make us comfortable. The weather turned very cold but the barn was warm and toasty. This is not your average modern facility. The charm and hosts make this an experience to remember for a lifetime.

    MaryEllen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Funky doesn't begin to describe this out of the way gem. The little quirky touches like a "Barbie" doll chandelier added greatly to the ambiance. It really is a barn being converted into livable space. The sleeping and living area is located in the barn's loft while an "indoor/outdoor" compost toilet and shower are downstairs along side a work area for the construction conversion. I had a "minor" health scare and Rose demonstrated empathy and compassion for my needs. This was special attention above and beyond what most would expect and it was especially appreciated.

    Charles2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in Rosaline's barn! It is definitely a funky barn as advertised and was great fun for the first night of "Cherie & Shirley's great adventure"! Just make sure you know what you are signing up for! The facilities are not for the faint of heart.

    Dave2019-10-01T00:00:00Z

This host couple are locally knowledgeable and in keeping with their easy-going manner, they freely share information and conversation. The rooms are extra clean, the bathroom is conveniently located and the living room oozes comfort and relaxation. Hint, eat the complimentary continental breakfast in the dining room chair facing the window and you will be treated to a stunningly beautiful view of Norwich University and the mountains in the distance while sipping your tea or coffee. All in all, Northfield is a great town (note: an excellent, coffee, craft brewery and hamburger bar are all located within a 5-minute drive) and this is a great base from which to explore all that central Vermont has to offer.

  • We had a great stay in Barre! The house was centrally located for all the things we wanted to see and do. James was a wonderful host and easy to keep in touch with. The house was SUPER clean and comfy. We enjoyed relaxing in the cozy living room in the evenings and cooking nice dinners in the cute 60's kitchen. Nice neighborhood for walking the dog, and lots of restaurants nearby.

    Molly2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for us. Even our Golden Retriever gives it five stars. We had one problem where the coffee maker went down and James was on it in no time. He's a great host! Before we left, we booked our next trip to Barre to stay with James. Highlights: View was awesome Beds were comfy Lots of space and comfy furnishing The 60's motif was really special! Great parking TV provided all the extra entertainment needed Breakfast in the fridge Neighbors were friendly Negatives: We had to leave Thumbs up all around!

  • Great place! Clean and cozy and bonus- he provided breakfast! Will definitely go back again!

    Amy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay with James, this time at City Heights, and was just as great as his other place. Clean , quiet, light filled, great deck for some February sunshine, amazing views, very comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen so we could cook an ambitious birthday dinner for my 90 year old Dad who lives in Barre. James is now our go to place when visiting him. Loved the 60’s decor.

    Claudia2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing!!! I even got stuck in the snow and was helped by James with a lift out of it! Thanks!!

    Eli2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This house is clean, spacious and located in a quiet neighborhood. James is easy to communicate with. I would stay again if I am in the area.

    Chen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! The 60s theme is fun and functional. The beds are very comfortable! Fully stocked kitchen made meal prep easy. James was response and flexible. Location is great. Don’t hesitate on this one.

    Tim2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, our dog and I greatly enjoyed our stay at James's place. His communication was prompt, the place was extremely clean and there was a great view. I appreciated small touches like a full length mirror, which is nice when on business trips. Though it wasn't a business trip for us, the added touch didn't go unnoticed. James also went out of his way to provide us with local Vermont treats and even mailed us something we fought during our stay. We won't hesitate to book again next time we are in the area.

Easy access to VAST snowmobile trails, within an hour's drive to 3 ski areas (Stowe, Smuggler's Notch and Jay Peak), X-Country skiing right outside the door or in Craftsbury or Stowe. Elmore State Park is 3 miles away. The cabin is quiet, private and unconnected.
The cabin is the perfect get-a-way. Limited cell phone service, no internet.

  • We loved staying at the Piggy Palace! It's such a cozy little cabin with a beautiful view. The check-in and check-out instructions were super easy, and Peggy was so friendly. We'd love to stay here again and definitely recommend it!

  • Our stay at Meadow Woods Cabin was the perfect winter retreat. Quiet and cozy with all the amenities and charm placed in a beautiful part of Vermont. We were able to ski right out our back door and surrounding ski areas. The cabin was spacious and spotless with lovely sunsets from off the front porch. Our hosts were super friendly and always willing to help with suggestions of places to see or eat. I look forward to going back again.

    Kate2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and cozy cabin! We stayed here on our ski vacation instead of staying closer to Stowe and we are glad we did. This cabin was cute and charming. Peggy and Steve went out of their way to help us get two-for-one ski ticket and helped us when our little car got stuck on ice. The area is so cute and much quieter than Stowe but still has cute restaurants and breweries nearby. Definitely recommend!

    Kristin2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at this cabin! Warm, cozy and with great views. Surrounded by snow covered woods, it was like a winter fairytale! Close to xcountry skiing trails. Peggy is a very friendly host. We would love to come back sometime!

Located on a quiet street running parallel to Winooski River just a 2 minute walk from the Main Street shopping area with lots of independent shops, bars and restaurants. A complimentary continental breakfast is included. Great X-Country ski area + short drive to downhill slopes in Stowe. Arrival times are important to me to plan my schedule. Delays happen so please update me if your plans get changed through traffic or flight changes. Bathroom is on ground floor - Bedroom is upstairs.
Vermont offers 4 Season activity for the active traveller who wants to get away from the hustle of City life. Plenty of protected parkland for beautiful walks and lots of opportunities to get out on lakes with a kayak. The Fall season is often spectacular and is a very popular time to visit the area. Vintage car & motorcycle enthusiasts can also enjoy a number of special events during the summer & early Fall with the annual 'British Invasion' antique car rally in nearby Stowe in September being one of the most popular events. There are also two major Hot Air Balloon Festivals in the summer months. All forms of winter snow activities are catered for from downhill to cross-country, snowmobiling and snow shoeing and even ice-sailing on Lake Champlain in nearby Burlington.
Montpelier is the State Capital. By population, it is the smallest state capital in the USA. The state house, with it's beautiful gold dome is home to the Vermont legislature and there is a wealth of local history to discover. I've found Vermont to be both beautiful in terms of its countryside and have been enchanted by the friendliness of its people. It's a fabulous destination to experience some 'down-time' and yet allows you to be super-active if you wish to be.

  • My stay at Steve’s was cozy and easy. The bedroom is spacious and there were great touches including a heater & brita filter. During my stay I had to park in an overnight snow lot instead of the regular down-the-street parking, but Steve was super helpful and even offered me a ride. Breakfast every morning was an added bonus. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area again.

  • I was so glad to be able to stay for the second time at Tracy and Jonathan's lovely farmhouse. On short notice, Tracy responded to my request in a matter of minutes and it was such a relief to know that I had a familiar place to stay as I unexpected needed to help my son home from college early (due to coronavirus closure). Cozy bed, sparkling clean and very tastefully and thoughtfully appointed. So nice to be able to make coffee and have fruit and cereal bar before hitting the road. I look forward to staying again!

  • Picture perfect and I even got to have a chat with the goats :)...

    Sass2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy's place is a beautiful antique farmhouse with all sorts of modern amenities. I stayed for a night in February after an outdoor workshop, and really appreciated the sauna. The heated floors were an unexpected treat for doing morning yoga! I wish I could have stayed longer!

    Jean Frances2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts! (Well, I only met Tracy, but she was great) Cozy bed, jetted tub, sauna, and farm animals! Comfy overall space even with a full house! I hope to stay again soon!

    Alexander2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful old farm house, nicely converted. Despite being on a main road, it was very quiet. I had a lovely soak in the jacuzzi tub, and a great cup of coffee in the morning. Would stay again in a heartbeat. . .

Come stay in a bright and sunny private room overlooking downtown Montpelier! Relax Vermont-style in our historic home. Montpelier is continually rated as one of the top ten best small towns in the US. Everything is an easy 3-5 minute walk from our home. We do have parking available if needed, but you certainly don't need a car in this town! Hubbard Park is a right out our back door and we are only steps from the capitol building. Please note: #mustlovedogs - we have a senior beagle/hound dog
Parking is available for one vehicle but we need notice that you will need parking in advance. While we are just a stones throw from downtown, our home is situated part way up a hill. Also, the bedroom is on the second floor so you will need to walk up an older staircase to reach your room (this is an historic Vermont home!). We do indeed have a beagle/tree walker hound mix named Sprocket. He is the sweetest dog but he will also eat anything that remotely smells like food, so we ask guests to keep their bedroom door closed and to be careful about what you leave in the common area. He also has some dementia and will occasionally (albeit very quietly) roam the house at night).
Our neighborhood overlooks downtown Montpelier. A view of Montpelier was actually used in a Veep episode right next to our house. EVERYTHING is walking distance from our home!

Come escape from the daily grind at our idyllic lakeside glamping cabin. A charming oasis in the heart of the Green Mountains, this cabin offers comfort and convenience in an off-the-grid setting. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway, writer's retreat, meditation escape, or just a chance to unwind , take a swim or go for a paddle.
Our comfortable cabin sits on a terraced hillside overlooking beautiful Greenwood Lake and the Woodbury Mountains. It has a ceiling fan and heater to keep you comfy along with a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker. However, there is no WiFi and cell service is sketchy which makes it a great spot for digital detox. We can provide you with a TV with DVD player if you wish. The spotless outhouse sports a state of the art incinerating toilet, a heater, a wash up sink with a drain, and a reading light. On the manicured grounds you'll find the upper patio with treetop views and a firepit. Next to the cabin is a picnic patio area with tables, chairs, and a park grill. Walk down the shaded path to our dock and kayak launch to take a swim or just relax, enjoy the view and look for loons. Bring your own paddle craft or rent a kayak for a small fee. Sorry, no motor craft permitted. While it does have many comforts and conveniences, be aware that this is still a glamping venue and there is no running water. We do supply water for drinking, washing, and even provide a solar shower.
In addition to enjoying peaceful Greenwood Lake, you are just a short drive from local attractions, such as Highland Center for The Arts, Jasper Hill Cheese Cellars, the charming capital city of Montpelier, Ben & Jerry's, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Stowe, Jay Peak, and Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local rail trails to name a few. The town of Hardwick, 4 miles away, boasts popular restaurants featuring locally grown fare.
  • Love the cabin! Great spot right above the lake. Nice to have a fire and enjoy the serene setting. Thanks Gary

    Arthur2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Space is pretty small great for a couple or two friends to stay the lake is a two second walk down the hill which is amazing and the fire pit is up a couple stairs. The charcoal grill and patio table is perfect for relaxing, cracking some brews, and just taking in the amazing scenery.

This 2nd floor barn apartment is a bright and airy space to enjoy quiet, cozy and private country living. Hunger, seen in the distance on a clear day, is often covered with snow and lends itself to a good day hike. while off over the parking area are neighborly views of well manicured fields of grass and trees.

  • Dexter and Carol’s place is a gem in a quiet neighborhood close to downtown Montpelier (5 minute drive). The space is clean, cozy, and stylish, and the hosts clearly put in a lot of effort to make it so. Just make sure you have AWD in the Winter/early Spring, as the property is at the top of a hill on an unpaved road. We received communication from our hosts ahead of time with helpful information to navigate. Highly recommended. We would certainly stay again.

Radiator outside the room provides upstairs heat. Child welcome. Low scent please. I use line dried 100% cotton sheets & towels only. One guest said I should add this to the listing description, as this may be of particular interest to some guests. Check-in 6pm-10pm, but please let me know ETA when you book.
The room is upstairs, the bathroom is on the main floor. This might be important if you need the bathroom during the night.
The neighborhood is made up mostly of one-family homes, with a blend of young families, middle aged couples and older folks. Being a quiet side street it is a favorite for walkers, often with children or dogs.

  • Karin was incredible! In a pinch she helped me maneuver my plans according to the extreme weather we had. I felt like I was truly at home with someone kindred (even though it was only a night). Plus the bed is very comfy and the smell of fresh baked goods was the most amazing way to fall asleep. You'll love this place and its host.

This is an 1864 VT farmhouse and barn. House was renovated 20+ years ago. The summer kitchen was converted to a two floor in-law apartment. We are located 9miles from downtown Montpelier. Off street parking for two. Room to drop your gear, bikes, kayaks, boat. Right on RT 14, no back roads. North Montpelier Pond is 1/10th mi up the street, has state access with parking. Nice paddle. Two floors. Walk into an open living room that opens to a deck; small kitchen with dining table. This room connects to the main house. Down stairs is the private bedroom and bathroom.
We are 1/10th a mi to North Montpelier Pond, and minutes away from hiking, kayaking, biking, Bragg Farm, State Parks, so many ponds, lakes, rivers. Downtown Montpelier is 9 miles away. Not really a neighborhood, but a small community. There are about a dozen houses in North Montpelier. Recently identified as a historic district.
  • Great stay at this Airbnb! The rooms were cozy and clean, with plenty of blankets and several heaters to keep us warm. It snowed several inches overnight and Carl helped dig us out the next morning - very friendly and gave up some local tips to explore the area. Would definitely stay here again!

  • A sweet quaint place. Very homey touches. Boyfriend and I have two separate cell phone carriers and neither of us had service but it was a great weekend get away. Service is like 5 minute drive for. Loved the place and will stay again when I visit
