Several stainless steel pots along with non-stick skillet, baking dishes include loaf pans, 9x13 pans, pie pans and cookie sheet. Large refrigerator is also provided. If there is something specific that you require, let us know and we will try to accommodate. Master Bedroom sports a KING bed with 4 pillows and chest. Private access to master bath which has 2 sinks, shower and toilet, chair and walk in closet. Expect wrinkles with all of our bedding as we all have them. Guest Bedroom #1 has a antique full size bed with 2 pillows and chest. Bathroom is in the hall. Expect wrinkles with all of our bedding as we all have them. Guest bedroom #2 is unfurnished at this time. If you are in need, we recommend bringing an air mattress. Guest bathroom has hall access to both guest bedrooms. Porches: Of course. The front porch has a seating for 2. The back porch has a few chairs and bench along with the country bell. You control the exterior lighting with options for 4 corner spot lighting to avoid the bugs on the porch or use the porch lights too. The 40 acres. We love the idea of being on a 40 acre plot with trails extending more than 1/2 mile and access to gravel bar fishing at the Gasconade River. You can find various wildlife and plants that can make you smile. We have marked the 3 trails and provided the maps for each. "Deer Alley Trail" provides a short walk that is relatively flat and gives you a view to the open field where deer feed frequently. "Big Spring Trail" is for the hiker and includes a nice climb back up the hill after arriving at the Big Spring. The Big Spring is primarily a wet weather spring but does have a small trickle in the summer. If you complete the Big Spring Trail, your almost to the "Gasconade River Trail". At the river bank is a steep incline providing you access to fish the Gasonage River from the gravel bar. You can also go wading. There is no boat access from our property but if you are interested, there is public access just a few miles away. NOTE: The house is newly built in 2019. As a result, the exterior yard is muddy at times. The grass is growing but not thickened up yet. The entry to the home is dry, graveled, raised up and without mud.
At Whispering Pines, there is that feeling of being in the country. Those coming from the city will enjoy the peace and serenity this property offers. There are no street lights so the night sky will be full of stars.
  • We truly enjoyed our stay- if you are ever with an hour or so of the area I highly recommend booking this house! It is very nice and comfortable- has everything you need and Andy is a great host- meeting at the gate and being very thorough with all the details. Thank you! The peepers sounded so nice!

    Stacey2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The home is lovely, clean and everything is new. We really liked the layout of the home. The location is beautiful also. We found ourselves surrounded by trees, woke up to seeing a deer outside. Our host was amazing and patiently waited for us to check in--we were about 2 hours later than we anticipated. He had breakfast available in a well-stocked pantry along with a waffle maker and coffee. The place has great cell coverage if you have Verizon. We would definitely stay there again!

    Esther2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Andy is a great host! Sparkling clean home with peace and quiet. The photos are great and accurate. However, it’s even better then it looks, it is the perfect stay.

  • Great place!!

    Jacob2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's space was exactly what we needed. Woods to explore, no cell service, and beautiful stars. Wonderful hospitality. This is the place for you if you want to catch up on reading or stargazing.

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very new and clean. Andy was very easy to communicate with and he met us for an easy check in. It was much nicer than expected, and we’d highly recommend it.

    Marina2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's cabin is super nice. More modern than our house, it had a very nice living area, kitchen and master bedroom. The second bed looked like a full size? The king in the master bed was comfortable and spacious. Nothing but good things to say about the dwelling. Andy was very hospitable and gracious considering our plans were in flux. We never ended up meeting him, but they did allow us to let ourselves in the house after hours. There were clear instructions in the kitchen for how to use the appliances and expectations for check out. This cabin is out in the woods. Like a few miles down a dirt/gravel road. That didn't bother us as we also live down a gravel, but good to know ahead of time. Google maps was a little off on the location down the road, but Andy left the lights on for us and it was very apparent when we arrived. We have US Cellular and phone service was OK, but data was very spotty. A friend with At&t had almost nothing the entire time. Load the map before you leave town. We had good service in Mansfield if needed. The cabin does NOT have wifi. The posting does say that in the amenities, but I neglected to see that until we were there - clearly my problem. We were able to get a few over-air channels on the TV. There were not a lot of food options around, but we ate at Vaccaros pizza in Mansfield and it was quite good. If you want beer, stop in Lebanon or along the way. We didn't see any at the grocery store in town. We had a nice time at Andy's cabin and if we ever need to go back to Baker's Creek again, we will probably stay here again.

Bright rooms with lots of sunshine and clean white walls. Artist touches to make you smile. Main attractions are the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum a mile down the road and Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company 6 miles. Adorable small town with friendly people. Great place to relax and enjoy your family.
The family house was built in 1950's. About 900 sq ft. one level. Recently renovated. An enchanted cabin is located in the backyard that is 100 years old. There are train tracks that run through the town that are located beyond the trees in the backyard. It hasn't bothered most people since it is the part of the charm of the community but you can hear them.
Main attraction in the Wilder Museum but in addition the town offers some unique restaurants ...Nellies Sweets, Vaccaro's Pizza and Pasta, Ma and Pa's, and great pizza at Casey's. Located 45 minutes from Springfield MO, Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, 2278 Baker Creek Rd, Mansfield, MO 65704, 6.1 miles away.

  • The house is very cute, clean and well equipped. We were very comfortable here with our adult son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. Plenty of space...felt like home. We have family in the area, so we’re here frequently...will definitely stay here in the future. Have already made recommendations to my family to call Stephanie when other family members come to visit.

  • Great location, close to store for groceries and easy to find. Clean, neat and comfortable with homey feel. Everything we needed to stay 10 days . Washer, dryer like new and nice kitchen. Fast run to Springfield or Branson, lots to see or just kick back. We will do again if we can. Nice to have this place to land after the long drive from Oregon.

If you want the Ozark Mountain experience this is for you. This cabin has all the amenities for your comfort. This location is secluded and out in the country. We are 14 miles from Ava, MO. There is bountiful wildlife to watch and you may see a deer or turkey in the yard. There is a large deck with picnic table and chairs for outside enjoyment. This rental is about 68 miles to Branson, Mo, 20 miles to Rockbridge, Mo and only 1 mile from Vera Cruz state park for swimming or fishing.
Note: cell phones do not work in this valley but we have a land line at our home next door that could be used upon request, or a hike up our mountain provides cell reception if you are adventuresome (or a short drive to the top if you are not able). If you have wifi calling on your smart phone that works great for incoming or outgoing calls.
  • Beautiful Ozark Mountain peacefulness perfectly mixed with exciting wildlife to see. We loved our early morning walks to the creeks and through the mountains. Accommodations were perfect for our trip and Connie and her husband were great hosts.

  • Must visit if u love nature.

  • Cozy, comfortable cabin in the country! Great place to get away and unplug. (No cell service and WiFi is spotty so if you can’t be off the grid , this isn’t for you) DirecTV provided. Nice deck off bedroom to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Connie met us to check-in and was very welcoming. Great experience!

    Kimberly2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great. It’s very private and secluded. there is some creeks nearby that is beautiful and clear. The last mile getting to the house is dirt road but it’s not too bad. There is a cute little groundhog living under the back porch that was fun to watch. Definitely a place to visit if you are wanting to disconnect from everything and just enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Nestled in the heart of the Ozark Hills, our stone cabin offers guests a secluded place to unwind and enjoy nature. Our cabin has running hot water, but no electricity or flushing toilet. The outhouse is a short walk away and propane lamps provide lighting. The cabin is accessible by a private, half mile gravel trail. It is best if guests have a four-wheel drive or high profile two-wheel drive vehicle.
Cooking utensils, bedding, towels and toilet paper are all supplied. Firewood for the fireplace and heating stove will be provided or you may gather your own from the surrounding forest. If you are a floating enthusiast the cabin is a 45-minute drive to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. If trout fishing is more your style, Montauk State Park is also a 45-minute drive. The City of Houston, Missouri is 10 minutes away. The town has many dining and shopping opportunities. We are a 23 minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company.
Our cabin offers a secluded get away in the middle of 160 acres of woodlands. Missouri wildlife will be your closest neighbor. You may encounter turkey, white tailed deer, the occasional bobcat or fox, and numerous species of song birds. We are a 23 minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company and 11 minutes from the Phoenix Theater & Drive-In. One of the few remaining drive-in movie theaters in Missouri.
  • I would highly recommend Renee’s place! The cabin was in a secluded spot on a beautiful peace of land, my pup loved running around the property. It was so cozy in the cabin with the fire place! I would return for a trip!

    Madeline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Renee is an amazing host and we loved all the small touches that truly make her Airbnb stand out. We would recommend her Airbnb to anyone who is wanting to celebrate a special occasion or even just want a quick weekend get away. We had the privilege of staying at Renee’s Airbnb during Valentine’s Day and we wouldn’t change a thing it was perfect all around. Renee was so quick to reply extremely helpful and she was even able to allow us to check in later then we expected! If anyone is considering staying stop considering it and do it you will not regret it!

  • My wife, our dog and I had an amazing weekend in the stone cabin and hiking on the land. The stone cabin is the perfect place to get away from everything and enjoy the outdoors.

  • This place is a hidden gem. A great place to get away from it all and simply be.

    Papaa2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool, cozy, secluded spot. Hosts provided plenty of firewood and took the time to show us how to work the propane lights and wood stove. Great place to disconnect (although we did get cell service by pond and further up the hill). Can't recommend this place enough.

    Ryan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Truly an incredible experience, such an awesome place! The hospitality is top notch and there were so many considerate touches, I wouldn’t know where to begin. They were helpful in every way as we were getting settled. We will definitely be back!

    Zach2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • It is rustic but not. Yes there is an outhouse but it is probably the nicest I have seen. The lanterns and fireplace make for a pleasant setting. The outdoor spaces are comfortable abd well though out. Cooking is easy on the outdoor grill or the indoor cooktop. Local grocery stores are easy to get to and only 10 mins away. The hiking is lovely and the grounds are managed well. You truly can hike for miles on the logging trails. The hosts provide plenty of firewood for warmth. The shower is tricky to manage and so we switched and stuck with baths. Otherwise there isn't anything I can be critical about. Great privacy, well appointed, comfortable bed, clean, and peaceful. A great way to escape the noisy world...

    Dan2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • There aren't enough 'stars' to properly rate this experience. Nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, rustic seekers, those accompanied by canines, and/or anyone looking to get off the beaten path to unplug with a unique stay...you've found your place.

Cedar Cabin is a cozy refuge with woods and a trail on one side, and Ananda Kanan Retreat Center on the other, where visitors may take a class in yoga and meditation or in painting. Next door is Redbud Cabin, where visitors can use the sauna or have a relaxing massage (by arrangement). Just a short walk across the campus is the dining hall patio where there is wifi and a beautiful view of 3 acre Lake Ananda Kanan. The Lake itself has a trail around it, canoes, and a dock for swimming.
Nearby are lots of things to do and see. The National Scenic Rivers are a half hour away. There are several good coffee places in West Plains, a 20 min. drive. Vandal Winery is a 20 min. drive away. We are located in the middle of four different river systems, with opportunities for swimming, floating and historical tours.
  • Great place. Very secluded on a beautiful piece of land

    Haylee2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what we needed. Michael set us up nicely. We enjoyed hikes through the woods and discovering all the different species of plants and fungus. Although we didn't have time to enjoy the amenities that were offered we will definitely be back again.

    Ashly2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience at the cabin. The retreat area is quiet and secluded. Perfect to get away from our busy city life. There's 2 trails in the retreat area, and there's plenty more within a 25 mi radius. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Room has heating, fans and a window AC for when it gets hot. The bathroom was clean, I would suggest bringing toiletries of you're picky. Michael was great to communicate with, and he even cooked breakfast for us the last day. Will definitely visit again.

  • This was a perfect place to stay with our dogs for the weekend. We enjoyed walking around the lake and through the woods. It was nice that there was wifi available if needed in the common areas. Very peaceful place to be, and we hope to be back in the summer.

  • Comfortable, surprisingly spacious cabin in the wilderness of southern Missouri. The AC and overhead fans were welcome in the heat of summer. Ample space and even dog friendly! Great value for the money, quiet grounds, and a great host who even had a dinner catered and brought to our cabin. Overall, a surprising little diamond in the rough!

The Ava House is a unique old Farm Home on the outskirts of Ava, MO. "The Treasure of the Ozarks" We offer a cozy quiet stay while still close to everything you need in town. Watch the Sunrise while sipping your Morning Coffee on the front porch, or take a stroll on the Ava Square to the Saturday Farmers Market. Great Restaurants, Vendors and Local Events, including Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, Southwest Missouri Off-Road Ranch, Mansfield Home of Laura Ingals Wilder and more
Short Gravel Road to the House. This is an Old Farm House. While it has been remodeled, there are small imperfections that we will be improving as we go. The house sits on an acre next to a Field that is County Property. You may see Deer, Turkey, Frogs, Spiders, Squirrels, Turtles and other Wildlife.. you could even see a Mouse in the House. We make every effort to make sure that doesn't happen, but we can't guarantee you won't see a Mouse or Spider.
Melancholy Roasting Coffee Shop; Cattle Baron's Boutique; great food at Harro Brothers Cafe; Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds; Jean's Healthway (The Original Momma Jean's) World Headquarters Missouri Fox Trotters; Southern Missouri Off-road Ranch; Soggy Bottom 4x4 Trail; Gladetop Trail State Park; Seymour Apple Festival and more! 1 Hour Drive to Springfield and Branson
  • The house is just outside of town and within close distance to Baker Creek and the Laura Ingalls Wilder home. We enjoyed our quiet stay. If you are planning on cooking, keep in mind there is not a standard stove/oven. They make up for this with a countertop electric two burner, an electric skillet, and a toaster oven. The pots/pans and cooking utensils are sparse, but enough to make simple meals. The house was clean and comfortable. Check-in and out was simple and easy. We recommend this place for a quiet getaway.

  • Nice house very close to AVA which has lots to do. Enjoyed a day in Branson and Springfield and visited the Tiger Sanctuary. Lovely area to stay in and much more to do than you think there might be.

    Patti2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Trendy decor and very clean place. Nacole was very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

    Shaun2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I booked the Ava house to host Thanksgiving with my mom and my grandma for the weekend. From the beginning Nacole was extremely sweet and helpful and exceeded all expectations. They offered an air mattress, that worked perfect for my mom; perfect size for the living room floor. There was Netflix on the Roku TV, coloring books w/colored pencils, records, card games, magazines, books; lots of things to keep you occupied. Everything that you could possibly think of needing in the kitchen or bathroom was provided plus some. The house is still in progress, but the wood ceiling, and walls gave it a very nice rustic experience. The fact that they allow pets is amazing by itself. There were 2 trees that were the perfect length apart for our runner to put our dogs outside. Our overall experience was wonderful. We definitely would recommend this place. About an hour to Springfield, and an hour to Branson, with lovely scenic views. Thanks so much Nacole! We look forward to seeing the progression of the house! 💕

    Kasie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nacole's place was amazing! So clean and very unique. She was very responsive and thoughtful. She also went out of her way to provide so many snacks, coffee, and toiletries for us. My husband and I hope to pass through Ava again so that we can stay at her place!

  • We absolutely loved this cabin. It was sparkling clean, beds were comfy, had all the amenities of home, an amazing view, & the hosts were so helpful & kind. We will definitely be back!

  • Great little place! The heat was already on and there were delicious homemade pastries waiting on the table for us. Was hoping to have enough time to walk to the pond but unfortunately did not, but we were able to half our morning coffee as we watched the sunrise from the back porch, which was really nice. Very private, very cozy. No WiFi and no cell service unless you walk up the hill on the road.

  • If you like a clean, cozy, quiet little retreat in the country, choose this place. It’s delightful!

    Carolyn2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Coon Creek Cabin exceeded my expectations for a peaceful, natural retreat. We had all the amenities we could need, including a break from the busy outside world, and plenty of privacy to read on the porch in quiet solitude. The bed is exceptionally comfortable for a night of deep sleep with the soothing sounds of night crickets chirping away. Well worth a visit!

    Rachel2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so quaint and cozy! Great experience on all points, including food, supplies, view, privacy, and comfort. We hope to come again next year!

    Janice2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views and a great place to enjoy nature. Even the air smells like potpourri. If you're traveling through Missouri, this is a great place to stay.

    Carter2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint, quiet retreat with all the necessary amenities. We didn't have cell signal (tmobile) and there's no wifi so be prepared!! Lu had so many great touches of hospitality and the place was wonderfully clean. My sister commented that Lu must be detail-oriented-- that's how thoughtful and clean the place is.

  • Could not be happier with our four-day stay, even though it rained nearly the whole time! There were lots of games and good books to keep us enjoying our family vacation in the country, and once the weather cleared we enjoyed outstanding stargazing, s’mores around the fire in the fire ring, and watching the chickens and listening to the rooster tell us who’s boss. Gracious, generous, hospitable hosts. The Ozark views really are phenomenal. What a special place, hope to return again soon!

  • Absolutely stunning home that is a perfect retreat away from the busy noises of the city. It just so happens to also be a wedding venue that is stunning. Am going to recommend this spot in the future for family and couple retreats.

    Daniel2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and clean spot to stay at. Highly recommended. The host is excellent and responds to questions quickly. We loved hiking around the property.

    Angela2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is as beautiful as the environment. I would definitely recommend it for short stays and large events.

  • If you’re any a peaceful getaway, this is the place. We took our anniversary trip here to leave the city, and it was so relaxing. No cell service, no problem. Lauren’s home in the country is perfect for weddings, too, but also great for a simple, quaint time to read a book and escape from your normal day-to-day life.

    Ben2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here with our dog as a weekend getaway from the city. Beautiful scenic area with amazing views of the starry night sky. Perfect for unplugging/disconnecting from the busy day-to-day and relax. Spent lots of time on the front porch and deck, and took walks around the land throughout. We recommend planning to stay on site (vs trying to leave for day trips) and bringing your own groceries for cooking. Would recommend. Thanks Lauren!

    Erika2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was great to be off the grid for a long weekend and relax! The farm is remote and I loved it. The cottage is spacious and the decor is very cute. Lauren’s instructions were helpful and she was very quick to respond. I had a wonderful time and would love to visit again.

    Jessica2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a quiet retreat in the country that is a fast 45 minute drive to Springfield. There is a relaxing soaking tub and two headed shower, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. It is refreshing to have limited internet access so our family was able to spend time reconnecting without distractions. Bring some wine and board games and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere!

The hand built cabin is located on our Homestead. It is extremely rustic and has limited facilities. It is good for people who want to experience living simply and for those who want to get away from conventionality.
  • Jamie was a wonderful host and I always felt welcome in her beautiful, hand-sculpted home. I also really enjoyed talking with her; she's a person you'd be lucky to meet. The gardens and neat, little buildings dotted throughout the landscape are absolutely lovely and well worth exploring. If you are looking for a Marriott or Ritz-Carlton, look elsewhere; this is something much more genuine and special. I was refreshed by the magic of this place and slept soundly under the light perfume of woodsmoke while listening to the frogs chirp and rain fall.

    Matthew2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jamie and Amos and the amount of love they have brought to the ozarks. The entire property truly is beautiful and the community they have built is even better. There are two yurts, a deck (great for yoga - a practice in sure Jamie would be willing to share with you), an awesome outdoor kitchen, garden, chickens, pond, creek, and they are working on completing a green house! The hills and stars stretch as far as the eyes can see. I will be back over the years and can't wait to see how this homestead continues to grow.

The Murrell Family Farm guest house is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast. Located in the rolling hills of the Ozarks in southwest Missouri it's next to the Mark Twain National Forest on a F.S. Scenic Byway and is within minutes of the Ridge Runner and Ozark Trail heads. The beautiful North Fork River is in close proximity and offers many recreation opportunities including swimming, canoeing, rafting, along crystal clear springs and with historic grist mills nearby.
The guest house is the original home of the Murrell family, on the farm that was established in 1929. It is full of history and memorabilia of the family and the Ozarks.
The neighborhood is a farming community, 10 miles from the four lane highway, on blacktop. The home is surrounded by pasture, and adjacent to the Mark Twain National Forest. You will have cows close by, and may see wildlife such as deer, turkeys, and may hear coyotes at night. Other small animals such as rabbits, ground hogs or armadillos may wander through at night.
  • We arrived to a warm, cozy fire on a cool day! The kitchen is fully stocked, which made meal preps go easy and there is plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows for your comfort! The guys had fun playing pool on the crooked pool table then afterward we had plenty of room to sit around the kitchen table for a game of Euchre. There is no WiFi but great satellite reception and plenty of choices of books, games, etc. There is also an old fashioned landline which gave us a way to call our family. I only wish we had more time and better weather to explore the great outdoors!!

  • Mrs Jeanne’s place far exceeded our expectations. It was so nice to walk into what immediately felt like home for our week long stay. The house was warm and cozy with personal notes throughout the home to help with our stay. Very clean with tons of pictures and knick-knacks that caught everyone’s attention. It wasn’t just a normal stay, the family, the home and the area had a legacy of the Murrell and McKee families that was told by each of these items throughout the home. The hospitality shown by Mrs Jeanne and her family was phenomenal. From tips on where to hunt to checking in with us to loaning us tools to fix a wheel bearing! Treated us just like family and we appreciated that very much. Wasn’t too shabby that we each fortunate enough to tag a nice buck too! Can’t wait to go back!

  • We had a great stay, the house was lovely, especially the outdoor space. We loved the location and all the springs and other natural areas around, but some of the photos suggested that some sites were closer to or on the property of the house, but they weren’t too far of a drive. We loved the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, and overall it was a great Airbnb. We felt at home, like we were visiting grandma’s house.

Nothing fancy, but quiet, country, fresh air, and lots of land to roam. Go fishing in the pond, close to Montauk State Park - known for its trout fishing, and many other of the gems in the Ozarks. Shopping, restaurants, and more close in Houston MO.
You are welcome to escape from the city or anyplace for that matter and come enjoy the fresh air of the country. 700+ acres to roam, old barns, old milk barn, grain bins, and a long cabin. Enjoy this rural location and lower the blood pressure. 8 miles out of Houston Missouri (with adequate shopping), 1.5 hours east of Springfield, 1 hour north of West Plains, 1 hour south of Rolla, and 20 miles from Montauk State Park. Very close to the Current and Big Piney Rivers for float trips, etc. See the stars and moon of a night and hear the coyotes sing (sometimes lol). I live here too, so you would be sharing my home in one of two extra bedrooms. Most of the time though, I live at another residence out of town. There is one full sized bed and one queen size bed. Two couches (not sleeper sofa) are available too. Washer and dryer available.

    Dennis2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is amazing! We enjoyed exploring outdoors so much, it was hard to stay inside! Cell service is pretty bad but if you connect to the WiFi and have WiFi calling connected, you can still use your phone. Roger was wonderful. He wasn’t there during our stay so we had the entire place to ourselves. But he kept in communication with us to make sure we had everything we needed even though he was working. We had a lot of fun exploring the grounds and caught some fish in the pond. It’s quite relaxing sitting on the front porch listening to the birds and watching the grass waving in the fields. It’s a great place to stay if you need a central location while floating any of the surrounding rivers. If you’re into staying in a farm house in the middle of nowhere and enjoy the peace of the country, this is the place for you.

  • Marc’s place is amazing. We are used to vacations that are quite fast paced and this place offered us a peaceful relaxing retreat. Marc responded to our inquiries diligently that helped us plan this wonderful getaway. We went as a big group and adults and kids both enjoyed the place. The house was amazing and super clean. The lake is breathtaking!!! We went canoeing and kayaking which it was available at the property. 2 days is too short to explore the place. We wish we could have stayed longer. Hopefully we can go back and visit the this wonderful retreat again. We found “OUR NEW HAPPY PLACE “. We highly recommend this place to our friends and others. Thank you Marc for sharing your home with us.

  • The place was really amazing and we had an awesome time with our family. We all can't wait to come back! The swimming and fishing was spectacular! We made some wonderful memories with our families and Marc's place was a great place to bring everyone together. Marc was an awesome host! He kept in touch and was responsive if we had any questions. The house was clean and ready to go when we checked in. Everything we needed (and more) was available. The place was so awesome once we got checked in we never left!

  • This place is the most amazing house and huge chunk of land I have ever been to. You honestly need to see it to believe it. The house is incredible. It is spacious and charming. Everything is fully stocked. The land is even better. The private lake is right out the back food, and the doe will walk right up to you. The bucks are the biggest and most beautiful I have ever seen. I booked this place for a family trip, and now I need to plan another trip to hunt. Marc was a very gracious host and if you have the opportunity to stay here, you’ll get to see this little piece of heaven.

We are located in the Ozark Mountains and Ava is truly a treasure. We are blessed with forests, streams, friendly residents, fascinating historical and cultural heritage, and diverse educational opportunities. For that reason we have formally adopted the motto “Ava-Treasure of the Ozarks”. Ava offers a small town atmosphere, down home celebrations and festivals, and a Triple A school system. Ava is the national head quarters of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association, which holds two annual festivals, spring and fall, drawing thousands to our community. We are also part of the Mark Twain National Forest, where we have a Glade Top Trail festival each year celebrating the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. Our Business community is diverse with many locally owned and operated businesses as well as large corporate franchised businesses. We are also the county seat of Douglas County and the only town in our county of 13,500 residents. Our county is almost 900 square miles in area. Ava also has several recreational opportunities. Our main park area has a large swimming pool which is open all summer. We have a movie theater, country club with a 9 hole golf course, walking trails, tennis courts, and pavilions within the park for family activities. We also have many civil organizations such as our Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Kiwanis Club as well as fraternal organizations. Our Biggest treasure is our quality of life. • The place was really amazing and we had an awesome time with our family. We all can't wait to come back! It was a real Ozark get-away with everything we expected and more! The swimming and fishing was spectacular! We made some wonderful memories with both of our families and Marc's home was a great place to bring everyone together. The place was clean and everything we needed (and more) was there. Marc was extremely helpful and accommodating. Beautiful scenery, private location, and everything was ready for us when we got there. The place was so awesome that once we got checked in we didn't leave again until we checked out! Thank you Marc for being a great host and sharing your place with us!!

  • The photos for this place do not do it justice. It is really beautiful. Marc is super responsive and helpful. We had a great stay while there for work and everything was very comfortable. Marc even went above and beyond when the internet went down.

  • Great location in the middle of the Ozarks. Johnny gave us a tour of the ranch and animals. The kids loved seeing the deer. Seeing the bald eagle fly around over the lake was amazing. Perfect relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Heron Cabin is a cozy getaway surrounded by woods and a beautiful lake. Lots of privacy and peaceful connection with nature. Just outside the door is a trail which circles the lake, offering views and mini-environments like moss-covered rocks and a pine forest. The cabin is located in a yoga retreat center, and guests may arrange offerings like massage, yoga/meditation classes, vegetarian meals, and the outdoor patio with wifi. Nearby are the National Scenic Rivers, wineries and much more.
If you want a relaxing getaway this is the place. In the cabin you are surrounded by the healing beauty of nature. The sounds you hear will be birdsongs, bullfrogs and the wind over leaves and water.
  • The view is amazing and is definitely worth the trip up there.

  • Cute little cabins off the beaten path. A quiet country retreat with nice hosts. We loved having the windows open to hear the crickets and the nice wooded walking trail. Thoughtful touches like a vase of flowers and bug spray for our walk.

  • What you can expect is blissful silence and wonderful peace. I actually fell in love with the fact that there was no television at this place it gave my wife and I time to reconnect with one another and visit like we have not as of late. The cabin was very clean and smelled beautifully of cedar wood. I soon learned that there are several cabins that Michael leases out. One of which we were offered a tour of, it is sat right on the private lake at Michaels property and has a huge deck on the back side that overlooks the lake. To sit out there and have coffee in the morning while listening to the birds, enjoying the serenity of the surroundings, and casting your view across the beautiful Lake would be an absolutely wonderful experience. I look forward to returning and staying in Lake cabin.

  • Had a great relaxing experience. The cabin was clean and cozy and the nature was just what I needed. Had a great massage, yoga, meditation and delicious vegetarian pizza. Will definitely return and highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all, replenish the spirit and nourish the soul. Michael was a great host and there for you if you needed anything but not intrusive at all.

  • Beautiful, scenic, peaceful, and secluded. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the serenity of being surrounded by nature, this is it. Michael is a wonderful host. Responds quickly and will go out of his way to get what you need.

  • This had to be the coolest AirBnb we have ever stayed at. Michael cooked us an amazing dinner and taught us a yoga/mediation course. It was an wonderful experience to not just stay at a place temporarily but to actually experience this beautiful place. We highly recommend checking out this hidden gem in the Ozarks.

  • We enjoyed our stay.

    Greg2019-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clean rustic cabin with nice ammenities. My stay was brief, just needed a quiet place to lay my head for the night. Michael is a gracious host who cares about the experience of his guests. Communication was very prompt and responsive. Didn't have any time to explore, but what I saw of the grounds was very beautiful and serene.

    Cynthia2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay - it was just what we wanted to get out of the city. The grounds are really expansive and fun to explore, with lots of wildlife. The cabin is very comfortable and we loved the jacuzzi tub. We also took advantage of offerings such as yoga/meditation class, vegetarian meal cooked by Michael, and a massage scheduled for our arrival. All of it was wonderful and added a lot to our short trip! We really enjoyed our conversations with Michael and admiring his artwork. Highly recommended and we hope to return!!

This house in the rural Ozarks comes with 4.6 acres, some wooded, some pasture. There is a carport available for one car. The landscape is beautiful. It is within driving distance to the Current River and two miles from The Golden Trails equestrian community. Easy access to horseback riding, canoeing, hunting and fishing. The house comes with dial-up internet and a local phone, but it's all very basic, for those who want to get back in touch with nature. There is a TV set, but no cable. If you are a media addict, it's not for you! Extremely rural and secluded, the house has a bright kitchen, three bedrooms and a rec room with a swing. The living room is spacious, but the furnishings are few and unimpressive. It's a nice place to stay if you want to enjoy the rural Ozarks.
