Enjoy a summer break in 2019. Located on the popular West Highland Way, Crombie Cottage is around 150 years old. This dog friendly holiday cottage has a beamed sitting room and log stove create a relaxed and cosy feel. Logs are available from the shop across the road. Tyndrum has a small (but excellently stocked!) general store, a pub, restaurant, hotel and The Green Welly Stop. There is a direct railway line from Glasgow to Tyndrum. Self-check in is available at the property. The space The kitchen and bathroom are modern and spacious, being a fairly recent extension. The high ceiling and skylights in the kitchen create a bright area in which to sit. The bathroom has a heated towel rail and excellent electric shower. The sitting room and bedroom form the original part of the cottage. Exposed stonework, beams and match boarding provide period character. There is free parking available directly outside the cottage on a large grass verge.
  • Cottage very nice and very well equipped; well located for hiking and exploring the area. Too bad the weather is not been at the appointment.

    Alain2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Crombie Cottage is right on the West Highland Way and you could see walkers passing the front garden as they arrived in Tyndrum. The cottage is very homely and has a woodburner in the lounge with logs etc supplied. There is a small garden surrounding the property which is fenced and was enough for our dog to exercise in. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights there.

    Tracey2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent our first nights in Scotland at Crombie Cottage. It was the perfect starting point for our adventure. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and lovely decorated. It is situated in a breathtaking landscape that invites for hikes and road trips. Communication with the hosts was easy and very helpful. All in all a wonderful experience.

    Norman2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, much bigger inside than it looks on the outside. Great location, feels in the middle of nowhere but actually you’re pretty well set up for a good local shop, restaurant and pub. We loved cosying up in front of the log burner after a day exploring the hills. The place has no WiFi so bring a book/some DVDs if you need it.

    Kate2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cosy cottage is well-located in the village of Tyndrum, alongside the West Highland way. The cottage was actually larger than expected and nice furnished. Best part of the house was the spacious and well equipped kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay in Tyndrum!

    Arie2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Crombie Cottage is an idyllic little place to stay, and the village of Tyndrum is just what I'm used to at home. The cottage was far more than I was expecting, the space has been superbly used and the kitchen blew me away! The range of amenities meant that I never struggled for preparing meals, or found myself lacking anything. I certainly didn't expect a Tassimo coffee maker! There were a few nice touches added to the cottage, such as the tips on local places of interest, shops, and even local doctors should the need arise. The tea and biscuits were appreciated, too! The place was well furnished and well maintained throughout, with the freesat box providing a welcome distraction on the Wednesday, when the rains came. The self check-in was hassle free; the instructions to get to the cottage, and to get in, were clear. All in all I loved my stay here, and only wish I'd spent longer.

  • Great location for a highland getaway surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. It’s location is perfect for exploring and you could easily have a holiday without the need for a car, as it is right next to a railway station for some days out exploring further afield. It is next to the famous West Highland way and there are a few places to eat within a short walk down the hill. Would recommend the Real food cafe as a family and dog friendly place for tasty reasonably priced food. You can buy gifts to take home at the well known Green Welly shop just around the corner and even have a go at gold panning in the nearby rivers. All in all, a perfect trip away and thank you to the host Rachel.

  • We really loved staying here! The location is peaceful and secluded - yet accessible to all amenities. The house was cosy and comfortable and had everything you could want or need for a lovely stay. A very friendly, warm welcome which we much appreciated. Thank you Rachel and Trevor!

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house felt really comfortable and cosy, clean, well-equipped and easy to live in, with such a great position, near the station but quiet and with wonderful views. There's a good choice of places to eat out within walking distance, but the lovely kitchen made self-catering easy too. Rachel was very friendly and helpful. I'm already talking to my husband about when we might be able to come again!

  • A great location, for exploring the surrounding area. Very tranquil loved the garden and views from lounge and patio. Rachel very helpful.

  • Rachel's place is really wonderful, we are family with 2 little girls and we all had a great time in the house. Great location to explore different parts of Highlands and Loch Lomond as well. Highly recommended!

    Nanae2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was a fantastic host and the cottage was lovely, beautiful spot to relax and the garden and terrace had the most beautiful views. Perfect location to explore the West of Scotland. We felt right at home. Managed to see the Jacobite Steam train passing on our first day and Rachel made this very exciting for our (train mad) 3 year old when we first arrived, even gave him some squirrel food to feed them with for his stay. Would highly recommend and we all wouldn’t hesitate to choose here when we return to explore the West Highlands.

Recently Scotgold opened a gold mine in the Cononish hills, an hours walk from the cottage. Perfect base for exploring the Highlands, Munro bagging, cycling or just chilling out. Variety of local amenities such as restaurants, cafe, petrol station, mini market, post office and gift shop.
The entire cottage is available to guests. Guests can enjoy the mountain views from the front garden. The cottage consists of a kitchen, utility room, shower room, living room and 2 double bedrooms.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we booked last minute (the day before) and the booking was still accommodated. We hadn't packed for glamping, but that wasnt an issue as bedding etc was all available to hire. Also great little store on site with camping essentials - firewood, marshmallows etc. Next to a small waterfall was an added bonus.

  • We stayed in a wigwam for one night. There was 5 of us I we could comfortably fit. There was a heater and a fridge in the wigwam. The area is absolutely amazing, with nature and animals surrounding the camp. I would definitely recommend coming here to any nature lovers!

  • Very nice place to enjoy the nature. If you do not want to cook on the fire, it has a nice communal kitchen.

  • Excellent camping pod (wigwam) with an excellent view! We rented a sleeping bag and pillow for £5 for one set. Sleeping bag was a little thin but the camping pod stayed warm so it wasn't a problem. Also it was surprisingly quiet inside. Foam padding for beds was pretty comfortable. Walking paths around the property were also nice.

Otter’s situation is also known for the abundance of bird life and animals including red squirrel, deer and Pinemarten. The Portnellan Estate has been privately owned by the same family for nearly 40 years and offers fantastic facilities including fresh run wild salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, mountain bikes with plenty of trails on and off road for all abilities, a games room with table tennis, table football, pool table and a small gym. • Ideal spot for a nice week away in Scotland. The beds were very comfortable and the place was very clean and stylish. The hosts were great and let us know all the relevant information as soon as we got arrived. The biking and rowing facilities were a nice touch. My only criticism was the WiFi situation, a little ropey but got by. Could have perhaps done with some oil, salt and pepper for cooking but is only a minor detail. Otherwise, a perfect stay.

Very slow internet might be a problem for those who need to stay connected... we were glad of the forced break from the internet and emails. Why stare at a computer when you can stare out the window?

  • It’s a great place to stay with nice interiors.. the Internet is weak but that should be the last thing in your mind here cause there are plenty of places to visit and loads of outdoor stuff that you can do in the summers.

  • We stayed in Kingfisher, which was stylish, luxurious and in a beautiful setting. It has everything you think you’ll need, and a whole lot more on top of that. The Portnellan facilities included cycling, pool, table tennis and kayaking, all of which we took advantage of. Cameron and Lucy were great hosts, too. The estate makes a great location to relax in, or to use as a base for trips out. All in all, an exceptional experience.
