  • Welcoming and confy! We felt at home. Only stayed one night, Mandy welcomed us very warmly. She seemed so nice we were sorry we did not have a chance to know her more and stay longer ! Confortable room, everything we needed and more was inside. I liked the small attentions like fresh milk and butter in our fridge. Coffee, chocolate, tea, sugar, two cups, different sized towels etc.. There is even a TV in the room ! Thank you very much, and I would recommend a 100%

  • From the moment we found Mandy's home on Airbnb, everything was positive. Her quick responses to our questions and the booking process was super fast and our welcome was warm and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay here again. The room was spotless with tea and coffee making facilities, along with a toaster and preserves. The bathroom is large and shower is powerful and easy to use. There are lots of extras here too, from soap to hair conditioner/body wash. You will want for nothing. Mandy's home is perfect for any length of stay and we are looking forward to staying again. Thank you Mandy for your kindness and thoughtfulness, you are a super host with a stunning home. Best regards, Carrie and David.

  • This was our second stay at Maggie's place, and it was a very comfortable stay too. We briefly saw Maggie upon check in, and then had to rush off to an event, but the studio was warm when we arrived, and there were little touches of milk and biscuits with the place being really clean. We had a good night's sleep again, and cannot thank Maggie enough for providing an excellent value for money airbnb!

    Rachael Louise2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely loft apartment tucked away behind Maggie's house. We found that everything offered was present and in good condition. We would have loved to stay longer to explore the area. Clear directions were provided beforehand which was a real help. Would certainly recommend to others.

Thank you for taking time to discover more about The Tiny Barn, a self-contained studio set in rural Wiltshire. The Tiny Barn is newly refurbished and believed to have been built originally as a gardener’s bothy and store. The Tiny Barn is a cosy, open plan studio with ample natural light and high quality finishes and fittings making this a comfortable and perfect location for couples or a single traveller to enjoy what Wiltshire has to offer.
The Tiny Barn has a kitchenette with a two ring hob, built in larder fridge and a combination microwave (includes grill and convection). There is a gas-fired combi boiler providing heating and hot water. The TV is a ‘smart’ TV. The WiFi is dedicated to The Tiny Barn and has no data restriction. There is a dual USB charging socket. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided as well as bathroom toiletries. One side of the full size double bed is against a wall. There is a separate WC with basin. The compact shower, approximately 600mm square, is tucked away round a corner and is open to the studio’s sleeping and living areas. Parking is located immediately outside the studio. The Tiny Barn does not have its own dedicated/private outside space but there is a bench to relax on from where to enjoy the surroundings and the wonderful view.
Studley is a small hamlet with stunning views over rural Wiltshire. There are three pubs/restaurants locally, all walking distance. Bowood House, the stately home with Capability Brown-designed grounds and also with hotel/spa and golf club, is very close, either by a short drive or a longer walk. The Sustrans NCR4 is a short walk or cycle ride away. Avebury and Lacock are a short drive away. Bath is quite close, easy to drive or a 11 minute train journey from Chippenham.
  • Absolutely loved our stay at the tiny barn, the use of space is ingenious and the thoughtful finishing touches ensure you get a little bit of luxury in this home away from home. Fantasic location, within walking distance of a lovely local pub, plus easy drive into Bath, the Cotswalds or the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. We would definitely stay again!

    Lisa2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The little barn is a lovely comfy clean space. Very nice location and well furnished. Exactly as described thank you very much

    Brett2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place. It doesn't feel small inside and has everything you could need. Really quite, private and lots of little touches that make it even nicer! If you are a bigger person, the shower cubicle might be a bit tricky as it is quite small. Other than that, gorgeous!

    Abigail2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication with local advice as booked at the last minute. The barn was a great space, extremely quiet, clean and comfortable and was a great location for Bath and the surrounding areas. Great value for money and would stay again if in the area.

    Dean2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tiny but awesome! The owners have managed to pack all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay in a small footprint. The space was immaculately presented, and precisely as described. The communications with Nicky & Mark were very quick, and they were extremely accommodating. Very highly recommended.

    Paul2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful tiny house to stay in! The Tiny Barn is nestled in the countryside with stunning views over the fields. Despite its small size, the Tiny Barn has all the mod cons anyone would need for a short stay. It was perfect for our work trip with only a 10 min drive to Calne. I would recommend staying here. Also the local Nepalese/Indian restaurant is fantastic!

    Pilyn2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The 'Tiny Barn' with a big heart. We arrived during storm 'Ciara' and the barn was thankfully warm and cosy. The Barn has a well equipped kitchenette with a large fridge. The decor is beautifully done. The bed is very comfortable, comfy lounge chairs and a great place to eat overlooking the pretty countryside. The Barn was sparkling clean and had everything you needed. Nicky & Mark were great hosts, their communication was instant, they were discreet but there if you needed them. We would certainly recommend this property and would love to stay here again.

    Sarah2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This will be a long but necessary review. As the first guest to experience The Tiny Barn, I feel I should give details for future guests to know exactly what's in store especially when it comes to the size. Understand, this lives up to its name. Therefore, space is limited. I'm 5'2" and everything fit perfectly for me. If you are taller and require a ton of space, do not book, then complain. Be well aware there is a 10 minute walk to the closest bus stop. If you want seclusion, this is definitely it! Those are NOT negatives, just things to be cognizant of before your visit...otherwise...everything was/is immaculate! I wanted a week away from the city and was provided an excellent country tiny cabin. The bed was comfortable, had every amenity needed and great wifi service! Nicky answered any question I had and was available when needed. I was able to cook meals, store food in the fridge and use Netflix effortlessly. If you want a beautiful secluded retreat, this is your place! Not a sound and meters and meters of gorgeous country. Would definitely return!

A self contained top floor flat in an early period Victorian house, set in the heart of the Wiltshire Downs. Containing everything you would need at home, the apartment has a spacious double bedroom plus a twin bedroom, sleeping four. It is totally self sufficient, with sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. The Cherill White Horse a mile away with fantastic walks, and hundreds of traditional west country pubs around the area.
I do have two dogs who love people coming to the house as they think they have come to play a game with them - so as much as they will love you, it is probably not suitable for anyone who has an allergy to dogs. Access is via the main house front door and staircase and has off street, free parking available, with a village shop/post office 50 metres away. I will most likely be downstairs, and available for anything you might need.
We are within v. easy access to all the following: Avebury, Silbury Hill, Bowood House/Gardens, Lacock Abbey etc., Caen Hill Locks/Devizes, Atwell Wilson Motor Museum, Fox Talbot Museum, Kennet & Avon Canal Pubs/Restaurants: The Black Dog,The Dumb Post, The White Horse, The Black Horse, Coconut, The Black Swan etc. Longleat, Stonehenge are not far as well. The White Horse/Lansdowne Monument 1 mile. Chippenham (7 miles) is a useful town and has a railway station.
  • Jane is a brilliant host and Deepwell House is not only delightful, it is cosy and comfortable. The Kitchenette has everything you need to prepare a snack or a meal. Jane left me a welcome pack which comprised of milk, butter, marmalade, croissants, crisps and cereal which was very nice. There is a 2 ring hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and tea and coffee. The wiFi is very good and the parking a bonus, although you could park on the road. You also have Freewiew TV to watch. The Double bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable. I would highly recommend a stay at Deepwell House and would definitely return

  • Gray place to stay , very warm and friendly, thank you

    Simon2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Expect an instant home. Such good value. A very relaxing stay especially that i worked long hours. Netflix, I found it on the third day. But a lovely surprise. Lots of surprises in fact but I won't spoil your experience dont book a hotel. Book here. I have watched enough four in a bed, to know that her gorgeous loft at at Deepwell would pass the test. Will be a very fond memory. If you want peace plus you are within walking distance of Avebury. A hike but "dayable ". Well done Jane.

    Judith2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Jane's home. We loved the accommodation it had every thing that we needed. It was clean and very comfortable. It was in a great location to explore the surrounding area. We would recommend her holiday home to our friends. Thanks from the Jones family.

    Gary2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent space and fantastic value for money. The kitchen and lounge space are great to make it that much more than just a bedroom and lets you cook your own meals. Jane provides lots of cooking equipment and utensils which are all you could need for a few nights, plus a great welcome pack which was a nice surprise. Bathroom is also well equipped with a good shower and excellent water pressure. Lounge area has a nice comfy sofa and a smart TV mounted on the wall with Netflix / AmazonPrime (assuming you have a subscription) in addition to freeview. The over all space is bigger than it looks on the pictures, although one thing to note is that at 6'3" I was only a couple of inches off the ceiling - so might be a bit compromised for anyone over 6'4"! Entrance is via the front door, with a key, and up a couple of flights of stairs to the top floor apartment, so you can be nice and private. I'd certainly consider staying here again.

    Colin2019-11-15T00:00:00Z

An idyllic location close to Avebury and The Ridgeway. The landscape is beautiful and offers sacred sites such as the Avebury Henge, Stonehenge, Silbury Hill and wonderful walking or cycling experiences. And...crop circles. A very peaceful hamlet ideal for those who like to get away from it all. Popular towns and cities, Oxford, Bath, Salisbury, Cheltenham and Gloucester are relatively nearby. For those without transport an hourly bus service runs to nearby towns.
My home is light and airy, peaceful and relaxing. A garden at the back of the house is available for guests to enjoy. The dining room is available for use when guests wish to eat in. You are guaranteed a warm welcome. Organic breakfast of muesli, fruit, yogurt, toast, tea and coffee is available, if booked in advance, at £5.00 per head.

It was a pleasure to stay in her delightful cottage, which is in a stunning location, just perfect for visiting the magical Avebury site and nearby attractions. I just wish I'd had longer to explore this fascinating part of the world.

    Justine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lizzie's cozy cottage in the beautiful English countryside of Wiltshire is a truly authentic experience of what it's like living in the countryside. I absolutely recommend her place if you want to explore this area. Close to Avebury and an easy busy ride into Swindon if you need to go shopping or socializing. Also The Winterbourne country pub is a 5 minute drive away, and a nice walk if you're walking, but also catch a bus most of the way, if you prefer. At night we made a fire and I read a novel. Quaint and cosy indeed! Thanks Lizzie ;)

Beautiful and cozy double bed (larger than a queen bed) with adjacent bathroom with electric shower. The room has a view of the garden.
Lyneham is a quaint British village with pubs, small stores and cafes. We are 15 minutes from Junction 16 of the M4 Swindon West and 30 minutes from Bristol. The home is close to the countryside and places of historical interests. The house is clean and updated. The kitchen was remodelled in November 2017. The bedroom is freshly decorated. The living room was also recenty redecorated.
Lyneham is a small village 15 miles from Swindon and 30 miles from Bristol. We have a village pub that hosts sky sports. We have a church, gas station and local library. We have Indian, American diner on the way and Chinese take away together convenience stores and cafe. There is a pharmacy and village hall that hosts various craft fairs etc. There are lots of places of historical interest including Lacock Abbey and Golf Course, Avebury with its medieval stones, Tudor towns and also Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. The M4 is only 10 minutes away giving access to the west coast including Somerset, Devon and Cornwall .
  • One of the best air BnB places I have stayed at. Highly recommended, especially if you need to be in Lyneham, RWB or West Swindon.

  • Christine is a great host and is always available for a chat. The house is clean tidy and very comfortable, it was exactly as I needed. Unfortunately the only thing missing is a good local pub, but there are plenty just outside the area. Lots of kittens to entertain you.

    Paul2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • You must like cats. Off road parking, clean, warm and very comfortable. Genuine friendly hostess, Christine is an excellent hostess.

  • Christine is a wonderful host. it is a comfortable home and Christine is really easy to get along with.

    Hannah2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Christine is a very considerate host. I have enjoyed staying in her home. It is comfortable to be able to do your own thing and also to be able to sit in the living room and chat with Christine.

    Hannah2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is a first-class, well-appointed, spotlessly-clean, accommodation in a quaint area near Swindon. Her home was setup with all the amenities to make the stay comfortable. I especially enjoyed the Apple TV and all the movies she has available to watch. Her bathroom has a nice shower upgrade to make the water hot and pressure relaxing. In the morning she had hot coffee ready and tea. The WiFi was strong and I was able to get lots of work done while I was visiting. I was amazed on how beautiful her two Persian cats are that are in the house, and her sweet dog Coco is well trained and friendly. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. We especially enjoyed the Mallard Pub. Would gladly stay again.

Cherry Tree Barn is located in the grounds of Hazeland Lodge, an old hunting lodge for Bowood House estate. A peaceful location, with stunning views and lots to do on the doorstep (including heated swimming pool and tennis court), come and enjoy your own little piece of the Wiltshire countryside.
Cherry Tree Barn is a fantastic converted barn, with 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 4 (plus 1 infant in a travel cot) and 1 bathroom with shower/bath. One double with kingsize bed and one twin that can be made up as a super king double on request. Fluffy feather duvets and pillows (or anti-allergy bedding on request). Bath towels, hand towels and pool towels (when pool is open) all provided. Minimum stay varies - 2 nights Oct to April (min 3 nights in school holidays), 3 nights May to Sept (7 nights during summer school holidays Sat-Sat, but would consider 3 or 4 night stay starting or ending on a Sat). Mezzanine dining area overlooking the tennis court, lounge with wood burner, TV with sky package and free WiFi. Kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Please note that there are 5 steps from the main living area to the mezzanine dining area off which the 2 bedrooms and bathroom are located. Patio and BBQ next to the heated swimming pool (open May to Sept) and tennis court (open all year). Playhouse, slide and swings for little ones. Large wooded garden to explore. Nearby fishing, horse riding, walks and a pub 5 minutes up the road for food and drink. A 5 minute drive away is the wonderful Bowood House and Gardens with kids adventure playground. Also close to Lacock Abbey, Longleat, the City of Bath, Avebury and Stonehenge and many more local attractions.
We live in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside, on a single track road, with just a couple of neighbours and the pub up the hill. We have a number of public footpaths on our door, one of which is a disused railway line where you can walk or cycle for miles uninterrupted by traffic.
  • What a gorgeous place to stay. We needed to stay close to grandparents and found Marion's property. It was spotless, spacious for a family.of 4, warm and so v peaceful - Marion obviously takes pride in making it as welcoming as possible! We didn't try out the pub in walking distance nor the tennis court nor the pool but we will most definitely be back v soon before it's totally booked up!

    Ali2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marion was great from start to finish. Made us feel at home from the very start, with great communication throughout and also had some lovely additional touches. Place itself is very cosy and homely, would definitely recommend and we will also be returning in the summer time!

  • A lovely little hideaway. The perfect location for feeling that you’re away from it all, when you’re actually only a few minutes from all the amenities you could need. Marion was very attentive and maintained fantastic communication when it came to organising our stay. No request was too much and she happily provided us with anti-allergy bedding, a cot and a high chair to make our stay as simple as possible. The property had a wonderful, homely feel. Everything was beautifully clean and kept so cosy and warm. We’ll definitely be booking to stay again!

  • This is a very acceptable place . You should read the details so you do not have unrealistic expectations.

  • Great spot in stunning Bishop's Cannings, right by the church- which was perfect as I was attending a wedding there. The room and private bathroom were equipped with everything you could possibly need. Much nicer than the photos in my opinion and I had a lovely night's sleep in the double bed. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area for work or pleasure.

  • Had a great stay at John and Avrils. The room was very cozy with really comfy beds and coffees and teas in the room. We would love to return when we are next in the area and would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a place to stay nearby. Thanks again.

Lots of local knowledge if you want it and information in the room.Private parking space and own bathroom ,cozy room with tea and coffee facilities. Spotlessly clean. John and Avril and Hector the dog were wonderful hosts and will definitely return when next in the area.

  • This was a perfect one night stay for us. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we could need. John was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

  • John and Avril’s place is marvellous for a stay anywhere near the historic tourists spots be it Stonehenge or Bath or Avebury etc. The house is idyllic and is accessible by public transport. The listing is wonderful and could accommodate upto 3 adults and a kid at ease. We were 3 adults who fit in comfortably. The listing is much more spacious than the actual pics which is quite a rare thing. The beds were tidy, comfortable and the room was stocked with books, toys etc. The toilet was spotlessly clean and stocked up with all the amenities. Furthermore the bathroom/ toilet was right beside the room and due to thoughtful sound proofing, the noises doesn’t get transmitted. The house in itself was very clean. The hosts were kind enough to leave us some chocolates and other coffee/ tea making amenities. More than anything, John and Avril were wonderful humans who were kind and ensured our comfort throughout the stay. They also helped us with local tips and it was our pleasure to get to know them. Their pet is absolutely lovely and one of the most well mannered one. I would totally recommend their listing for any type of stay - couples, friends or family.

  • This was a great escape! The quintessential local English expérience with a warm and welcoming couple and their sweet dog. They made us feel comfortable and well looked after while affording us privacy and even some complimentary goodies. We'd definitely stay again if we're in the area. Thank you for a lovely, peaceful stay in your home, John and Avril! We hope to see you again sometime!

  • Outstanding stay! Super thoughtful touches - like providing oat milk and tasty treats when we said we were vegan - and the place is super comfy with lots of character. Our little dog loved it too!

    Alex2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Kathy & John's Airbnb. A lovely location just off a quiet and rural village green. Although attached to the house the annex is very private and feels like your own little apartment. It's beautiful decorated and we felt very much at home. We particularly loved all the little touches...fresh milk, juice, beer, cake, shower gels, shampoo and a fabulous continental breakfast. We also really appreciated the tips from Kathy and John of the best local places to visit...we can highly recommend Lacock which is only 15 mins away and is just like stepping back in time with its quaint cottages. The filmed quite a bit of Harry Potter there so is especially "magical". Thank you very much for all your hospitality. We will definitely be back! x

My place has great views over the surrounding countryside, in a quiet and peaceful setting, all in your own space. Close to the architecture and culture, restaurants and dining, in Bath, a World Heritage site. We are within easy reach of Stonehenge and Avebury and the picturesque film locations of Highclere Castle, Lacock and Castle Combe, and with all the Cotswolds to explore. A cosy place to relax in beautiful countryside and picturesque villages with great walks and welcoming pubs.
We have a beautiful contemporary light airy and spacious loft for your entire use. There is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and open plan living, dining and kitchen.
We live on the edge of the small hamlet of Spirthill, on the top of a ridge with far reaching views over the Dauntsey Vale. There are good pubs in the villages of Foxham (2 miles) Hilmarton (1 mile) and Christian Malford (3 miles). There is a good network of footpaths and the road through the village is very quiet and off the beaten track.
  • Gorgeous place to stay, just like the pictures and description and more! Nice to escape to the country, all you can hear is the birds singing which is lovely. Emma was fast at replying to any questions we had and came and said hello, even letting us check out later which was very kind. Nice and cosy with central heating and the shower is amazing! Well worth the visit and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

    Ryan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is exactly as expected, decorated to a lovely, homely and welcoming standard and cosy throughout. We were provided milk, hot cross buns, honey, apricot jam and butter which was a lovely touch. The bed is super comfortable. It was easy to check in with the lock box and the area is so peaceful. Lots of magazines and books as well as a couple of games to play. A very nice stay, thank you so much.

Hawthorn Lodge is close to some of the most beautiful walks in Wiltshire with access straight from the door as it is situated at the foot of Historic Roundway Hill. The lodge has only just been fitted out and so almost all fittings are new and of a high quality. Perfect for pets as the lodge is set in it's own secure garden. New for 2017 is a large hot tub. Very quiet apart from the dawn chorus and the sound of the passing horses from the local riding stables. Excellent value for money.
Newly fitted out with top quality furniture, beds, kitchen equipment etc. The new daily maintained hot tub is only a few steps from the door and is totally exclusive to you.
Wiltshire is in my opinion our most beautiful, greenest county. Hawthorn lodge is sited at the foot of Roundway Hill meaning you will find no shortage of endless glorious walks. There are several walks of different lengths that will take you to The Ivy Inn to try out the local Wadsworth ale and tasty pub grub.
  • My partner and I stayed here for a romantic one-night stay away and it didn’t disappoint. Chris was a great host from the minute we booked! There were lovely touches like a bottle of wine in the fridge, fresh milk and fresh flowers when we got there. The hot tub itself was amazing and very relaxing!

  • We had a great stay at the lodge, such a lovely quiet area, and the place was comfortable and clean. The garden area/hot tub was really lovely even when the weather wasn't ideal. Would definitely go back for another stay.

  • A great stay in a rural Wiltshire lodge with hot tub! Thoughtful details throughout the lodge and a home away from home. Thank You Chris! Would recommend to everyone for a relaxing stay!

    Nick2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was a great host. The garden had flooded the week before and he kept in contact with me regarding this so I was aware there may be a problem with the hot tub. Luckily it was all fine and I can genuinely say its the best hot tub I've ever used. The twinkly lights are a great little touch. The lodge was clean and plenty of comforts to enjoy including a playstation. I'd definitely recommend Chris's place and would certainly love to stay again.

Every cupboard and door we opened we were pleasantly surprised. It is so dog friendly, completely closed in garden complete with dog biscuits and bowls for your furry friends! The hot tub is just bliss and we were in it in a storm! Thank you Chris we will definitely be back

Beautiful tastful interior. Fluffy towels, and use of Neal’s Yard Remedies during your stay. My home is peaceful, tranquil and in a great location for exploring the Wiltshire country side. Breakfast tray off assorted Cereals jams marmalade, breakfast biscuits available for you.
I have recently returned to Wiltshire my home county after living in various homes/ locations on the South Coast of England, for over ten years living by the sea. There I also welcomed guests into my homes for short breaks and even much longer stays. Wiltshire has so much to offer:- If you are not already a member of the National Trust, I would highly recommend becoming one. There is a different National Trust property and location to visit close to my home almost every day of the week. This is truly a gem of a property, Calne and my stunning home is very centraly located for all the historic attractions Wiltshire has to offer. If you feel inclind then you don’t have to travel to far to explore the truly beautiful Wiltshire countryside and all we have on offer. Stonehenge, or The World Heritage site at Avebury. Visit Lacock and it’s famous Abbey, or spend your day wandering the pretty streets of Bath. Bath Christmas Markets are a must which start this year on the 22 November. These get bigger and better every year. Or perhaps take a trip to Salisbury and visit the famous Catherdral, or pop inside and have a peek at Edward Heath’s (the former Prime Minister) Home “Arundells” in the Cathedral Close.
This property is very centrally located not only for bus stops but also a stroll into the historic town of Calne. its also a great location for visiting the superb market towns beyond. There is a daily bus service to nearby Marlborough which leaves Calne throughout the day. Well worth a trip if only to pass by the pretty villages with their chocolate box cottages on route. You can also get to the historic town of Devizes very easily by bus or by car. Walk up the famous Caen Hill Locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal after take your pick for lunch in the many cafes, bars and restaurants.

  • It’s a lovely place to stay where you’ll feel immediately at home. A really nice bathroom with the rain shower and a great bedroom from where you can overlook the beautiful area. We were warm welcomed by Rebecca and her friendly dog Lily. Rebecca’s hospitality is great. Nice fresh breakfast each morning and she lets you to use her kitchen if you want. Or relax and read some in the living room.

  • This is a stunning place to stay, not just the view and amazing countryside, but the house itself is stunningly done, spotlessly clean and worth a visit on its own. Rebecca is a super host and will go out of her way to accommodate you. So nice, I highly recommend a stay here very soon before the price doubles. You will not be disappointed.

  • I had a wonderful stay here, Rebecca was very welcoming and her house was very spacious and clean with an incredible interior. Rebecca was there to welcome me on arrival and was accommodating even though I was late due to traffic, and it was not a problem coming in late at night after my work function. Breakfast was supplied in the morning and tea and coffee is available 24/7. Over all it was a lovely stay and really good value for money. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • We had a lovely time at the cabin, our puppy was in her element there and we would love to return. There is a lovely positive vibe around the place and people are very friendly. Plenty of space and privacy. 10/10 for what we wanted 👍🏽

  • We loved spending time here. It was peaceful and relaxing and it had everything we needed to make some food and lots of cups of tea. The views were beautiful. The fire was amazing and we eventually got it going haha bit rusty at first but we got the hang of it and it made the place very cosy. The rugs and hot water bottles were great and very much needed as it was so chilly. Being out in nature was wonderful. This is exactly what we needed. We will definitely recommend this cute cabin. Thank you for hosting us.

Henk is a wonderful and generous host, and knows a lot about the area which he shares if one is interested. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything was great!

  • Can’t express what a lovely time we had here at The Apartment. Dawn thought of everything which meant we didn’t have to go out at all other than to collect a takeaway from the local Indian restaurant (which was delicious). There was even a welcome basket with bread, biscuits, butter, tea, coffee, sugar and a bottle of Prosecco. We will definitely be revisiting ❤️🥂🥰

This idyllic location is a place to find peace, healing and connection to nature. Set just below the ancient Ridgeway, close to World Heritage sites Avebury & Stonehenge with the attractive town of Marlborough close by. Salisbury, Bath & Oxford and the attractive towns and villages of the Cotswolds are within easy distance. Superb countryside; an area of outstanding natural beauty. Situated in a quiet hamlet with fine views, it is excellent for walking and relaxing.
Light and airy space situated on strong energy lines, it lends itself to a great sense of well being.
Berwick Bassett is a hamlet, which means that there are only a few houses and no amenities (except for a post box!). There are no shops, cafes, restaurants or pubs. However, there is a community shop, a pub and daytime cafes in Avebury. The absence of the above ensures peace and tranquillity and the occasional hooting of an owl.
  • Lizzie was an excellent hostess, friendly and really helpful. I booked a double room for a day (10-4) to read and be quiet. I wasn’t sure if Lizzie would accommodate my unusual request but welcomed me unreservedly. A lovely way to spend a day just reading and sleeping.

Our view of silbury hill is second to none.
  • Mrs Dixon's B&B is an excellent location for exploring Avebury and the related sites in the area. It's also close enough to Stonehenge and Salisbury, and not far from Bath. Our en-suite room was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable, and at night the occasional passing car was the only sound. We slept well. I especially appreciated the collection of books about the area, providing insights about the prehistory and geology of the area. The breakfast table was a cornucopia of choices, and our breakfasts were well-prepared and filling. The real reason to stay here, however, is Angela's warm hospitality, attention to detail, and knowledge about the area's sites. She contacted us in advance to find out our breakfast preferences, and she responded promptly to several questions I had. I especially enjoyed our morning conversations and her insights and suggestions. I look forward to visiting the area again, and would happily stay at Angela's place again.

    Tom2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay with Angela...we were spoilt with our breakfast options...5 star genuine hospitality..

    Denny2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Well, what can I say that doesn't sound like exaggerating! Firstly it is easy to find even if you haven't read the directions properly. There is plenty of room to park too. However, it is when you get inside that the fun begins. It its a beautiful family home with lots of interesting pictures of the host's family and lives. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with lovely bedding and towels with a delightful, sparkling clean en-suite. The view from the bedroom was of Silbury Hill. We were given an excellent recommendation for somewhere to eat that evening. Warning though. Don't eat too much so you can indulge in one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! I requested beforehand if black pudding could be served with the full English which it was. Everything was beautifully cooked in front of us and the table was completely covered in all sorts of breakfast foods making it hard to choose. Finally managed that hard job though. Angela also let me take a photograph of her lovely kitchen. Avebury is close enough to walk to but if you are doing a walk around the stones factor the walk back. Ended up walking nearer nine miles than six. I can't praise Angela highly enough. I hope to come back again.

  • Staying with Angela, her lovely family and her dog, Puzzle, was so wonderful. I stayed 3 nights. . It was truly the best! They were all so welcoming, open and friendly! I felt like I was part of the family. Their home is beautiful to look at and stay in, my room was so comfortable, well-furnished and the shower was excellent, it is very clean and well decorated and the breakfast and cakes were mouth-watering good. Angela gave great directions to get into the village and even walked with me one morning with her dog. I cannot say enough good things about them! When I return to Avebury, I will without a doubt stay with them again! Thank you, Angela, for the joyous time with you and your family.

  • Stayed for three nights over Christmas whilst visiting family in the area. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The property was very clean and had all the utensils to produce a meal for six on Christmas Eve. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom and shower rooms were better than you get in top hotels. The heating system made the accommodation very warm and comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Buttle Farm to anyone who wants to stay in this area of Wiltshire.

  • We have stayed at many good Airbnb's but Chalk Barn at Buttle Farm surpasses them all. The barn as been beautifully renovated to create an extremely comfortable and elegant home away from home. Anyone who would like to enjoy a quintessentially beautiful English rural village should make a beeline for Buttle Farm in Compton Bassett in the beautiful county of Wiltshire.

Kellaways House Cottage is located in the small village of East Tytherton, Wiltshire close to the nearby market towns of Chippenham and Calne in the north of the county. Its rural setting provides a tranquil atmosphere without being too far from local amenities. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists, but if you want a bit more excitement, it is also perfectly situated to explore places further a feld in Wiltshire, East Somerset and the South Cotswolds.
Kellaways Cottage is adjoined to Kellaways House, our family home. The buildings were once part of the Moravian Church, and has had many functions and interesting occupants. Kellaways House was built in 1785 initially as a home for single sisters of the Moravian Church, quickly becoming a girls school a short time afterwards. Educating women in these times was very progressive. The school continued until the outbreak of the Second World War, where it became the temporary headquarters of the Moravian Church in the UK during the Blitz in London. After the War, it soon became a private residence being owned amongst others by modernist artist Richard Smith and perfumer Mr Fidges. Kellaways House Cottage was a later addition to the school in 1830s, originally for the headmistresses as their quarters and study.
East Tytherton is a small, friendly village, surrounded by low lying farmland and hills. At the heart of this active community is the village hall and Moravian Church, which hold regular events. It is a popular place to stay for visitors wishing to enjoy the surrounding countryside, either on foot or cycling. It is also strategically placed to explore nearby market towns of Chippenham and Calne. Slightly further afield is the UNESCO city of Bath, the historic prehistoric sites of Wiltshire, and the beauty of the South Cotswolds. Locally we have several good pubs and restaurants in nearby villages, and we are very lucky to have an award winning Maud Heath Vineyard right on our doorstep.
  • Lovely little place, very peaceful and lovely little hospitality touches. Would definitely stay again.

  • Agnieszka's home was even more comfortable in real life than it looks in pictures. I had such a wonderful stay here, with a cosy log fire, homely surroundings and a well equipped kitchen. Friendly hosts and beautiful countryside. Just perfect!

  • Excellent facilities, beautiful location, extra touches, quiet rural setting yet close to Chippenham where I was working. Super drive up from Dorset. Chefs in the local pubs don't always work on Monday nights.

The Old School House 1894 is a lovely old stone building with six Owner Occupied individual apartments. Apartment two is a superb luxury ground floor duplex apartment, over looking the historic Green and St Marys church. Smart TVwith Netflix. The apartment has a rustic wooden floor downstairs, a carpeted lobby, which then goes all the way upstairs, to the landing and bedroom. Breakfast is muesli , milk, bread, jams, cheese. Plus, eggs & spinach or eggs & bacon. Teas & Coffees provided.
The apartment has two comfy leather sofas. The lounge kitchen area does have a step up to it, and the dining room has a step down to it. The windows are 9ft and the ceilings are really high as it was a Victorian school house. The reason why the floor is raised on the lower level, is so you now get views across the The Green. The school house designed it so the children could not look out and see any distractions, just see the sky and look up to god. The school house then became the local Technical school, then a ballet school, making us of the panelled walls and light. Then a masonic lodge, before being converted into Grade Two listed apartments.
The neighbourhood is a quite one. The apartment over looks a Green in the heritage Quater. There is a lovely small cafe wine bar on one corner. Castlefeild park is a short stroll away. It has a cycle trail and outdoor gym. Counrty walks to Bowood and beyond. Plus a host of wildlife, King fishers, Herons, Egrets and otters if you are lucky.
  • A great apartment in a lovely location. Fiona is a fantastic host and the cakes a real treat. I’m a regular and plan to remain a regular

  • If you find yourself in Calne I don’t think you will find a better place to stay and relax to explore a beautiful part of Wiltshire. The apartment, the facilities and little touches provided by Fiona exceeded all our expectations😄... If you arrived with nothing you wouldn’t want for anything ( even down to towelling bathrobes ) ! We stayed for Calne bike meet and No 2 in the Old School House provided an oasis of calm. Will definitely return 😄

    Sue2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is very stylish with good quality fittings. Much more than you would expect with self catering - cream tea waiting for you and all your breakfast needs provided. A very quiet location overlooking the green and with no through traffic.

    Gordon2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t find a better place to stay in Wiltshire! The “Schoolhouse on the Green” is picturesque perfect in every way. I lacked for nothing and Fiona is a fabulous host! I highly recommend this flat in Calne!

    Melanie2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The old school house is in a class of it's own! It looks good in the photos but they don't do it justice. It really has all you need to hand and Fiona is a great host. There was a cream tea just waiting to be assembled when we got there, along with some fruit, enough consumables to see us through breakfast the next day, and all the normal kitchen cupboard essentials like teas, coffee, salt pepper, jam, honey, marmalade etc, etc . There is also a very nice coffee joint less than 100m away that does a wicked flat white and really good US style blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. The bacon bagels are no slouch either. What's not to like? We'll be back.

My place is close to Avebury, World Heritage site, and Bath. You’ll love it because of its unusual location. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids). Calne is a modest little town, with facilities just a few minutes away. There is a lot of walking, and stately homes to visit in the area. The flat is truly spacious, so you can get away from each other when necessary. The garden side of the building is 1730, and designed by Robert Adam.
Large master bedroom, smaller second bedroom, and a large bathroom, over looking the town. The flat is transversal, the bedrooms getting the sun in the morning, and the balcony and kitchen the sun in the evening.
Central but but hidden away on a hill, looking over a river. This site has been inhabited for the last 6,000 years. The present house was built in 1730, but two thirds of it was destroyed in a fire in the mid 1960s. My flat is in the new part of the building, restored again in the year 2000.
  • Robert's place is great and in a gorgeous, historical building. There is convenient (and free!) parking on site. The rooms are really comfortable and with wonderful art. Robert is a great host (and very funny!) and we completely loved our stay here :-) Plus great recommendations for dinner! Thanks Robert. If we're passing this way again, we would definitely stay again!

    Caroline2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This quirky 2 bedroom flat is on the top floor of a converted old building, (there is a lift I think) so there are a lot of stairs. This did not bother me, as I only stayed 1 night, with my husband and daughter, as we were attending a Wedding at nearby Wellington Barn. It is located in the middle of the town of Calne, and has a convenient parking spot that Robert directed us to on arrival.

    Janet2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cozy place to stay at.

    Sylvain2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Vibrant apartment which has everything you need and is in the centre of town. Lovely town and surroundings for some nice walks (don’t miss Avebury). I can imagine it will be extra nice in the summer on the balcony. Perhaps a good tip is to bring inside slippers if you like warm feet because it’s the owners request not to wear shoes inside (mostly all carpeted)

    Wendy2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Calne. Clean, spacious apartment. Nice quiet area.

    Laura2019-12-22T00:00:00Z

  • Great host. Thanks.

  • Lost count of how many times we have stayed in Robert's flat now! It's a great location for us as it's just round the corner from my parents, they don't have enough room in their bungalow for all of us, so by staying here we can visit and they can spend time with their grandchildren. Robert is always friendly and welcoming, and the flat is spacious and clean.

Peaceful character house inside the neolithic Avebury Stone Circle, sleeping 6+ in two large bedrooms and separate reception room with sofabed; with conservatory dining area, pretty garden and superb views over the stones at front and rear. Perfectly located for exploring Avebury; Silbury Hill, West Kennett Long Barrow, Swallowhead Spring and the Ridgeway walkable from the front door. Ideal for families, couples or groups, with opportunities for walking, cycling, retreats or simple relaxation.
You will have the house to yourself – it is spacious but has a cosy cottage feeling with wood floors and a wood burner in one of the two downstairs receptions. The conservatory makes a pleasant dining space beside the well-equipped kitchen. There are two double bedrooms on the first floor: a large front master room overlooking the Cove Stones with a comfortable king size bed and TV, and a delightful rear bedroom overlooking the garden and Sun Circle and the Avenue in the distance - on request, this room can be set up with either twin beds or as a comfortable king size bed. The bathroom has a luxurious shower and large bath. The downstairs front reception room has a good quality double sofa bed and can be separated off with glazed doors. There is good internet and wifi in the house and a home cinema projector for TV. There is a second toilet downstairs. The garden is private and fully contained when the side gate is closed, with several places to sit and eat out in good weather - including a sun-trap patio and a shaded seating area. There is a very small pond and on request the cabin/office can be used for working or for relaxation and quiet contemplation. The garden even has its own mini stone circle!
Avebury is a National Trust site, within the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. As well as the 4,500 year old henge (a circular deep ditch and tall bank enclosing the stone circle - which you can explore freely) it has a lovely 16th century Manor house. There are museums explaining the history of the site and lunch and tea rooms, National Trust shop, The Henge Shop and Elements gift shop, an excellent community shop for provisions and a popular pub within a minute's walk. There are many good local pubs, most serving excellent food and a Rick Stein restaurant in Marlborough (details provided in the house manual). The picturesque market town of Marlborough is 10 minutes and Devizes 15 minutes drive and the Kennet and Avon Canal is nearby. Many important ancient sites (The Avebury Avenue, Silbury Hill, the West Kennet Long Barrow, the source of the Kennett, the ancient Ridgeway path, etc) are a pleasant walk or cycle or a short drive from the house. Other features of the World Heritage Site, eg, Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Durrington Walls are within 20-24 miles (40 minutes drive). Wiltshire has many attractions, including walking the Ridgeway (turn right from the front door to stroll up to the Ridgeway, with access to the Sanctuary, Barbury Castle etc for the more ambitious). The beautiful cathedral town of Salisbury and Bath (with the famous Roman Baths) are both within an hour’s drive, as is Bristol and a bit longer to Bristol airport. Slightly further afield, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge etc are within 1.5 hours drive.
  • Cute house in a unique location, right in the heart of the Avebury stone circle. Special mention to Stephen our host, who was very accommodating when my partner fell ill. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Rachel2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and in a magical spot! The beds are comfy and the house has everything you might need for your trip! X

    Sarah2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location of Stephen’s house is amazing. Waking up and looking out of the bedroom window to see the Avebury was fabulous. The house itself is homely, comfortable and peaceful with a really nice vibe. We slept in the front bedroom and the bed was really comfortable. The log burner in the lounge was great and much needed after a wet and windy walk! Thank you so much for a lovely, peaceful couple of days, Stephen!
