Places to stay in Chuckanut
Gorgeous modern studio in a forested setting, this is a unique space with thoughtful design. Seashore and mountain trails are right outside the door, & the Studio is a ten minute drive from Bellingham. Our special place has offered a base for adventure, rejuvenation and re-connection and provided "Il Dolce Far Niente" - The Sweetness of Doing Nothing. Meeting accurate expectations is important to us, so please read our entire listing description before you send a booking request. Thank you!
Note: Meeting accurate expectations is very important to us, so please read our entire listing description before you send a booking request. Thank you! The Seaside Forest Studio shares the property with our home, and began as an artist's studio, every aspect custom designed. From the loft bed surrounded by windows, to the fully equipped kitchen, slate-tiled shower and red brick floors, everything was added with careful thought. This is a unique space! The Studio is 512 square feet with an added 60 feet in the sleeping area above. There is a queen-sized bed in a hanging loft, best for those comfortable climbing a ladder up and down, to sleep surrounded by windows and trees on all sides. There is also a Euro-lounger/sofa in the main room that folds into a comfortable full size bed, with a memory foam topper. The main room has a window seat, as well as a custom reading nook with games for all ages stored below. Peter's handmade beautiful, live-edge cedar table seats four (five, if you'd like). The kitchen is fully equipped with sink, stove, oven, refrigerator, and cooking implements. The bath has a full shower, beautifully tiled. The studio has both electric heat and a wood stove. There are two entryways, with a curved wood deck at the front entrance (and a large granite boulder to sit on as well). Parking is just outside the back door. We care about beauty, connection, real things, and the Studio reflects that; much of its features were made by us or locally sourced. You'll eat at Peter's table, hang your coat on a fir tree we found in our woods, use Aimee's homemade soap in the shower, see our art on the walls, sleep in a loft built by a dear friend, and enjoy a fire with wood from our property. A short walk down the driveway or steep beach trail offers views of both Chuckanut and Pleasant Bays (we live on a point, so there is water on both sides). Just up a winding brick path, you'll find the hot tub (older design, very simple) behind our house, on a deck under tall fir trees with peekaboo views of the water. Our property is a haven for wildlife: the studio is surrounded by a forest that's home to many kinds of birds, including raptors, owls, and songbirds. Raccoons and deer wander through, and we're close to the seashore where seals swim, herons squawk, and crabs scuttle under eelgrass forests. The Studio shares the forest with our home, so we're available for questions and concerns. Our house is situated on a knoll overlooking the water, while the studio is in the forest just below. The two structures are separated by a driveway and woods, out of sight of each other. We do share a common driveway, our cars blocked from the Studio's view by a neatly stacked woodpile. The Studio has many windows (with blinds), and we do drive and/or walk past the Studio when coming & going, . The Seaside Forest Studio is ideal for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and those who want unique accommodation in a beautiful natural setting.
With Chuckanut Mountain behind us and the Salish Sea in front, hikers, bikers, and kayakers will find easy access to all three activities from the studio. The Interurban Trail is just up the road. Heading south on the Interurban you'll reach the trails, lakes and seashore of 2683-acre Larrabee State Park in five minutes; walking north, you can stroll or bike five miles to town if you'd like, all on this forested trail overlooking the sea. Paddling west in a kayak you'll reach Chuckanut Island in 20 minutes. Our family have been the caretakers of this special place, owned by the Nature Conservancy, for years. The world renowned beauty of Chuckanut Drive is moments away – enjoy it by bicycle or car. Fairhaven is 10 minutes and downtown Bellingham is 20 minutes by car. The Skagit Valley is just 20 minutes south along Chuckanut Drive. Venturing east, you can reach the glorious mountains, rivers, and waterfalls of the North Cascades in just over an hour. Driving west, you can be on a ferry to the pristine San Juan islands in under an hour. If you'd like, you can touch a glacier and explore an island in the same day! The Chuckanut area and Bellingham region are an outdoor recreation and nature lovers' paradise. We're the Northwest epicenter for sea, mountain, lake, and river activities, as well as island hopping and visiting local farms of every variety (vineyards, vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy). If you'd prefer a more urban vacation, Bellingham has great markets, diverse shopping opportunities, varied restaurants and nightlife, great local breweries, and one of the most beautiful university campuses in Washington state. We're situated equidistant to Vancouver BC and Seattle, so big city attractions are just a 90 minute drive away.
  • Amazing location. Amazing studio. Very modern and cozy. Perfect for a staycation or a vacation. Great hosts.

  • Great little spot! Close enough to Bellingham to go out and do stuff, but removed enough to be out in nature. The loft bed is a must-try!

    Alex2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, great retreat from the city hustle. Train is canceled out with white noise or ear plugs provided by hosts. Hot tub was perfect, place was clean and stylish. Really sparks inspiration for creating a mindful tranquil space. Hosts were quick to respond. Overall fantastic stay, highly recommend

  • This is a beautiful space. You wake up feeling like you are up in the trees. Every detail in this home is thoughtful and well designed. The property is lovely. The sound of the train at night was enchanting, not disturbing. It was a rejuvenating experience when I really needed it.

  • 6/5 Stars - hands down one of my favorite AirBnb experiences. Such a remote and quiet cabin with such amazing hosts. Everything we could of needed or thought of was already laid out, itemized in guest book, or was sent prior to arrival.

    Ian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay here. Aimee and Peter are super professional hosts and went out of their way to write a clear ad and also provide plenty of information for guests about the property and the surrounding area. The studio itself was stylish and awesome to spend time in. The high ceilings and plenty of fun personal touches were a highlight of the space. The hot tub was amazing and so relaxing to soak in at night while watching the trees. Overall I would love to stay here again and I highly recommend it!

    Lisa2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee and Peter were excellent hosts. This is such an amazing space - the loft bed is literally right up in the trees. You are steps away from the ocean in this enchanting cottage. The hosts were very friendly and inviting, and we had everything we needed. I would gladly stay here again.

    Neil2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is so beautiful and Aimee and Peter were awesome, communicative, and thoughtful hosts. This area is great for peace, quiet, and hiking but also conveniently close to Bellingham restaurants and breweries. Highly recommend!

The Pleasant Bay Lookout is a small private room with a spectacular view, nestled in the trees. Guests share space in our family's home - where we live full time - for kitchen, bathroom, living room, hot tub, & other household amenities. We love welcoming guests to this tucked-away oasis of peace and beauty. Meeting accurate expectations is very important to us - we only accept requests from those with complete profiles who let us know they've read our entire listing description. Thank you!
The Pleasant Bay Lookout is nestled in a forest overlooking the Salish Sea. Its stunning beauty and simplicity have been showcased widely, including on Airbnb's Instagram, in local magazines and on many websites. The Lookout is simple: one room (121 square feet) with a comfortable recliner, a modern sofa that converts to a bed, a glass wall with a breathtaking view, and a deck to experience the sound of the sea, songbirds and sun, rain and shifting clouds firsthand. Given the small square footage, there is no sink or bathroom in the Lookout and the sofa bed takes up much of the space in the room when its open. As one guest said: "The space is small in footage but huge on character and coolness. The back wall is all glass. It leads out to a deck and offers a beautiful view of the woods and the bay. The view makes the whole room feel as big as the whole out of doors." We care about beauty, connection, real things, and the Lookout reflects that; much of its features were made by us or locally sourced. There is a branched tree from our property to hang your coat, a live edge coffee table made by Peter, and thoughtfully chosen art on the walls. In the main house - which you'll share with us, as we live there full time - you'll eat at a handcrafted breakfast bar, use Aimee's homemade soap in the shower, and perhaps enjoy a fire with wood from our property. Note that there is no bathroom in the Lookout - it's a 30 second walk to the bathroom in the house, which is open 24/7 for your use. The common trend for visitors to the Lookout is to arrive and cast off any plans they have: most seem to fall into the state described in Italian as "La Dolce Far Niente - The Sweetness of Doing Nothing." The main house is a 30 second walk from the Lookout. We live in the house, and are grateful to share it with Lookout guests from all over the world. Though fifty years old, it is comfortably modern, built on a forested bluff above a picturesque bay with a simple design and architecture that integrates with its surroundings. Most walls of the house are made of glass, making a moving painting with the flight of birds, trees dancing in the wind, moonlight and dappled sunlight - it truly is a feast for the senses. The sensory delight increases when you go outside the Lookout or house – the forest is alive with songbirds, shorebirds, raptors and peekaboo views. Raccoon and deer wander through, and Chuckanut Mountain trails and beaches are a short walk, bike ride, paddle or drive away. There are many options for nature excursions and adventures right outside our door. The Pleasant Bay Lookout is ideal for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and those who want simple accommodations in a beautiful natural setting. • Note that the Lookout and our home are nestled in the trees, but not built IN a tree like a typical treehouse. • Meeting accurate expectations is very important to us, so please let us know you've read our entire listing description and understand the arrangement between the Lookout and main house when you send a booking request. Thank you!

Launching a boat from a nearby area will bring you to a beautiful coastline, with Chuckanut Island as the gem of Chuckanut Bay. For years, our family has been the caretakers of this special place, owned by the Nature Conservancy. The world renowned beauty of Chuckanut Drive is moments away – enjoy it by bicycle or car. The quaint village-within-the-city of Fairhaven is 10 minutes and downtown Bellingham is 20 minutes by car (if you lack a vehicle, we're happy to carpool the short distance to town as we're able). If you'd like, you can touch a glacier and enjoy a picnic on a beach in the same day! • Aimee and Peter have a beautiful space! Such a nice weekend getaway. Peter gave us great local recommendations as well!

  • It was great experience! 100% worth the price. Gorgeous location,Amazing host. Must visit place.

  • Having stayed in many Airbnb’s there is no place that has exceeded our expectations more than Peter and Aimee’s accommodations. Excellent communicators, beautiful home with an unparalleled view, and the most warm welcoming family who have an obvious passion for hosting. Stay more than one night if you can and extend your stay in Bellingham, you won’t regret it!

    Rebecca2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location

    Michael2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The location is stunning, it’s truly the perfect escape, felt very comfortable and happy staying here. Would come again!

    Anthony2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Lookout is exactly as described: stylish, snug, and nestled amongst the trees. Aimee and Peter manage two accommodations, and while the other is much bigger, this one has the killer view. Both properties, as well as their own home, look like they were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We stayed just one night (a little getaway from our kids). While retreating, we enjoyed lounging in the Lookout, eating dinner and playing card games in Aimee and Peter's dining room, and taking a dip in the hot tub under a canopy of trees after dark. We were totally relaxed and at home here. A few tips: - The hosts suggested bringing slip-on shoes for going between the Lookout and the main house. Do it. Since we arrived on foot for just the one night, we didn't bring any, and we regretted it. - We hiked to the Lookout from downtown Bellingham along the waterfront trail from Bellingham to Fairhaven (~60 minutes) and then via the Interurban trail through the Chuckanuts (~90 minutes). I'd highly recommend doing to walk at least once while you are staying at the Lookout. G0ogle Maps is pretty good for navigating the few unmarked forks in the Interurban trail.

  • Calm and relaxing stay after time spent hiking on Chuckanut. The listing nails it on all fronts - did enjoy doing nothing and their directions to it are needed (We used our phone as back up and would have gotten us lost!). Close to Bellingham, Bow/Edison, and plenty of hiking, which allowed us to experience a lot.

  • We had such a delightful stay! The view and walk to the beach was so lovely. Super clean, comfy bed, and hot tub was the cherry on top. We will be back!

  • Right next to Larabee State park, with water access. Maybe bring a kayak! Lots of hikes in the area, too. And the back yard privacy and scenery was really nice.

We built the Tiny Guest House for friends and family and love sharing the space with people traveling to Bellingham. The studio is within walking distance of both WWU (1.0 mile) and downtown (0.8 miles). The Guest House is quite small (200sf), it has a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon on the main floor. And no kitchen.
This small space (200sf) is great for an affordable, private stay in Bellingham. We offer a queen bed in the loft and a full sized futon couch/bed on the main floor. Therefore, the space can accommodate four, but is not ideal as the space is small. We do offer a fridge on the porch and a coffee pot, but there is NO kitchen. Guests should also be aware that the lofted bed has sturdy, ladderesque stairs. However, there is not a lot of head room in the loft and it can be difficult to navigate especially if you are elderly or disabled or exceptionally tall. If you are not comfortable with stairs we can certainly set up the futon or we recommend finding more suitable accommodations.
The best part of the neighborhood (York) is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown Bellingham and Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying Bellingham. Bellingham has also become a destination for craft beer with about 15 breweries and several tap houses--many are located less than a mile from the Guest House. You should also note that the neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal University student energy.
  • Great value, great hosts and great overall 10/10!!! You will not regret staying here

  • The tiny house is not to be overlooked if traveling to Bellingham. It is so cute and cozy with the most comfortable bed. Don’t worry if you forget or need anything , Chris and Amy have thought of it all. My daughter and I stayed while checking out the WWU campus, was perfect!! We would definitely stay again.

Elegant Northwest Modern Retreat overlooking a beautiful wildlife filled meadow, with filtered views of Chuckanut Bay, and amazing access to the trails and beaches of Larrabee State park. Enjoy a peaceful stay at our newly completed guest house just 10 minutes down Chuckanut Drive from Fairhaven and Downtown Bellingham. COVID19 Update: We will blocking 2 days after each stay for thorough cleaning and fastidiously disinfecting all surfaces. Please contact us with questions.
The guest house is a newly completed eco friendly 850 square foot custom home. Beautifully trimmed out with fir reclaimed during Stefan’s years as a custom homebuilder, each aspect of the home has been carefully designed to accentuate the details of the space without distracting from the natural beauty that surrounds it. The single room on the main floor has a well equipped kitchen, dining nook and seating areas, all facing out through large windows onto the meadow and bay views. A sliding door leads to a large deck perfect to relax on with a morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening. The bathroom and bedroom are located downstairs along with a den area. There is a queen bed in the bedroom, and the den area couch also converts to a queen. The den has a smart TV with a wireless internet connection, and we provide a Netflix account. There is no cable or other television service, but you can easily connect with your own accounts (e.g., HBO GO, Amazon, HULU) through the smart TV. We live next door, and are available if you have any questions during your stay.
We are located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive (Hwy 11) four miles south of the historic Fairhaven district of Bellingham, WA. Surrounded by Larabee State Park, with easy access to running, hiking and mountain biking trails, we face Bellingham Bay and on clear days you can see the coastal mountains in British Columbia. Larrabee State Park also offers great beach access for beach combing, swimming, and launching your kayak or SUP. South of us, down Chuckanut Drive, are the small towns of Bow and Edison – both provide quaint, local flavor and artisan food. Downtown Bellingham is an easy 10-minute drive to the north. The Interurban trail runs along Chuckanut Drive into Bellingham, providing a beautiful walk, run or bike into town.
  • This house has a great modern cabin feel for a peaceful weekend away. It is well decorated and has a cozy nordic vibe with lots of ameneties and thoughtful touches throughout. We loved staying here and would stay here again.

    Aaron2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Stefan and Aasta's place is the cleanest AirBnB we've ever stayed in. Most places along Chuckanut are subject to the noise of passing trains, but this one was super quiet, which made for good sleep. Very comfortable bed in the bedroom, and a calm and stylish space. Good for everything from a writing retreat to a weekend with family and friends. Easy drive to Fairhaven/Bellingham, and great parks/hikes close-by for those with kids.

Hike-in/bike-in cabin for two surrounded by acres of private forest adjacent to Larrabee State Park. This off-the-grid cabin is the perfect base for your biking or hiking adventures right from your door, or just enjoy some serious solitude with easy town access.
Our cabin was built in 2018 with site-milled lumber and was modeled after a forest service fire lookout. Please note: This unique experience has some special considerations! You will have to hike or bike approximately 1/4 mile on a trail, up about 100 feet of elevation, from the parking area to the cabin. For longer stays, you may request assistance with hauling your belongings in to the cabin site. Kitchen amenities: 2-burner propane stove top, cookware and dining ware, ice chest, potable water in water cooler Bathroom facilities: composting toilet, outdoor propane shower Sleep: table/benches convert to queen size bed Outside: fire pit, access to the Chuckanut trails No electricity or wi-fi. Cell reception is spotty.
Located about 3/4 mile from Fragrance Lake Trailhead and 1 mile from Cleator Road, this is the perfect location for your Chuckanut hiking and biking adventures. Historic Fairhaven is just 5 miles away, a fun bike ride along the Interurban Trail, or about 10 minutes by car. Adventurous hikers and expert mountain bikers can drop down from Fragrance Lake on the Secret Squirrel Trail right into our property.
  • One of the nicest, coziest cabins I've ever stayed in. The view from the windows is incredible. Definitely recommended if you need to get away for awhile but don't want to be miles from civilization.

    Erik2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t wait to come back. This is a perfect cozy getaway to relax, take in some fresh air and just be. A much needed getaway from the city. Thank you!

    Haley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing cabin location! The hike in is a quick 7 or so minutes with a bit of a hill, but you feel a million miles from anything. We loved the cabin, and although it was a cold February night we were so cosy with all the bedding and the stove. The instructions made it easy to set up the bed/table situation and we loved how peaceful it was surrounded by the sound of wind and rain in the trees. This is such a special retreat and would definitely recommend it! Hope to come back one day.

  • Suzie went of her way to make sure to make sure we felt comfortable in what can be a remote and rustic environment. All modern amenities presented where expressed with a natural touch. Making the comfort of home and the adventure of the unknown merge into an amazing atmosphere. Truly kind hosts with a beautiful space.

  • Cute & cozy, everything we needed.

    Nev2019-12-08T00:00:00Z

A small, private, cozy studio less than a mile walking distance of both downtown Bellingham and WWU campus.
This one bedroom studio is small but mighty. We believe you will find it to be a very private, convenient and affordable option in the heart of Bellingham. It's located within a mile of both the epicenter of downtown Bellingham as well as WWU campus. In 2017 we made some cosmetic improvements by replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring, updating the electrical and giving it a new paint job. However, it could certainly use an updated kitchen and bathroom and was used as a college rental for many years before we rescued it. So if you're looking for modern and fancy, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you don't mind rustic/charming, we believe you will be quite comfortable. It is most suitable for 1-2 people, but the futon couch can be used as a second "bed" making it available to groups of up to three. Also, the on-site parking space is located on the back alley. It is a bit small and the alley is somewhat narrow so parking a large vehicle could take some extra effort. We recommend backing in to the space. If you are uncomfortable with the small parking space, you will need to find street parking which is generally available but can get crowded by late evening.
The best part about York neighborhood is our proximity to both downtown bellingham and WWU campus (both are within a mile). There are also several neighborhood diners, pubs and restaurants all within a 1/2 mile that are great places to unwind after enjoying bellingham. We recommend both Nelson's market and MacKay's tap house. Due to our proximity to campus, there are many students in the area. Generally they are quiet but can host loud parties from time to time.
  • This place is tiny, but very cute, comfortable, stylish and clean! The bed was amazingly comfortable with very soft sheets, a wonderful mattress, plenty of perfect pillows and soft cozy blankets. Amy and Chris have thought of and included every little thing a person would need for a cozy retreat, from coffee to waffles, and earplugs to toothpaste (and toothbrushes if you forgot yours)! No need to run out for anything! There may even have been chocolate! I would definitely stay here again!

Clean, tidy, filled with lots of thoughtful and homey touches, check-in is easy and convenient and parking is available close by. Located near downtown, grocery stores, and parks, and easy to find. Definitely recommend!

  • This was just amazing! Step by step directions on how to get in, easy communication! A clean and beautiful home! Chris and Amy left a note on the table for us stating if we needed anything at all to text or call and left there phone number. They are just amazing hosts. I am always a cold person and they had blankets all over for me to snuggle up with. I cant say enough good things about them. Will rent again when i come back!

Our 1924 craftsman home is a calm and inviting home surrounded by old trees, a large garden, and is on a quite residential street. There are two bedrooms and a quaint kitchen to cook in, with a fireplace to enjoy. Both bedrooms are spacious and light. The back yard, courtyard, fire pit, washer/dryer are all shared by the entire household. We are happy to get to know our visitors, but we also understand and respect your peace and privacy. We hope that you enjoy our home, we certainly do!
There is a separate downstairs from the main house where our guests stay. This space has been updated to include all modern amenities, with beautiful custom details. We have a separate kitchen, and living area from our guests.
Our neighborhood is called Columbia neighborhood, and is part of historically Bellingham It is is centrally located to downtown and the harbor, and is a short walking distance to local transit, the breweries, and local attractions such as the Mt. Baker Theater. Our neighborhood is also located close to the urban trails, with excellent grocery and retail shopping, as well as being near the hospital. We are close to the downtown Farmers Market, which is a vibrant event with live music and excellent food.
  • Lisa’s is the BEST place to stay in Bellingham! The apartment is clean, charming, cozy and has all the amenities for a hassle-free stay no matter what time of year. It’s in a lovely safe neighborhood that’s walking distance to groceries, restaurants, shops and downtown’s brilliant nightlife! Lisa and Jim couldn’t be nicer and their dog, Huey, is a gem. I highly recommend this Airbnb and look forward to my next stay.

Our home is a great place to experience Bellingham from! Our neighborhood is friendly and centrally located. Walking distance from breweries, bus line, and grocery store.
My husband and I live in the main house, and your space is a mother-in-law suite that shares one wall with our house. It has a private entrance and parking spot, as well as a little outdoor sitting area. It is a perfect spot for one person or a couple visiting B'ham.
Our neighborhood is right on the edge of the line between residential and commercial. We are only one street off of Meridian, where you can find breweries and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We are a 30 second walk from a grocery store and the bus line, and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Bellingham.
  • Fantastic home and great suggestions.

  • This house was perfect for our group. Very cozy and inviting plus fully stocked with any amenities you might need during your stay. We arrived after sunset so couldn’t enjoy the beautiful view until the morning, but what a spot! We took a short stroll down to the water before we left and enjoyed the surrounding beauty of the area. Stacy was very quick with her responses and left detailed notes that were helpful! I would definitely recommend this house for a peaceful getaway that’s also very close to nearby Bellingham.

We spent a girls weekend at this gem of a spot with panoramic views and sunset photos that will live on! Thanks for being a super host with the most comfortable beds, cozy linens and extra space to spare! We’ll definitely be back!

    Constance2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stacy’s home was spectacular, the rare find where pictures of the ocean don’t do the real thing justice! Right on the water w wonderful views of San Juan’s.

    Blake2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean house with lots of space. Great deck with a view of the water and wildlife around, perfect place to have morning coffee. The beach and yard make it fun to explore the Puget Sound at its best. The beds were made up beautifully and cozy. Fully stocked house with everything you could need for making meals. Train tracks are right behind the house so can get a little loud, however downstairs bedrooms are quite peaceful and the sound is blocked out. Parking is limited, but the owner helped to give solutions.

  • This place was stunning. Beautiful architecture and very thoughtfully planned out. I very much appreciated the heated floors as well. Large windows allowed you to fully capture the water view, the lighted path to the door was romantic, the bed was so soft and comfy, and the house was exceptionally clean. I would have stayed longer if I had more time. The park down the road was a magical hike close to the house which was a wonderful surprise. I would recommend this stay to everyone.

Blake is easy going, he warmly welcomed us as we arrived and sent us off as we left. Views out of the living is beautiful. Kitchen has everything you need to make a meal. The fold out beds in living room are surprisingly super comfortable, he messaged me beforehand about the bed arrangement, when we arrived, everything was nicely set up already. Very considerate. Highly recommend Blake’s Be Free Suite!

The small, well appointed cottage consists of one large room with queen bed, sofa and dining area as well as separate kitchen (sink, refrigerator, induction single burner cooktop and microwave) and bathroom. Original artwork on the walls from well known local artist. High Speed Broadband Wireless throughout property. Adjacent to the cottage is a pasture with two miniature donkeys. Waking up in such a beautiful place each day made everything else in Bellingham seem to glow as well. Debbie and Harvey were extremely gracious hosts and shared with us great places to hike and to eat. Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise.' B.F., Indianapolis, IN 'Spectacular and serene. Fresh crab, salmon, oysters raspberries, blueberries. All the best of the Northwest. Wonderful visit to the Pond Cottage. Looking forward to returning soon.' CS, Berkeley, CA "My husband and one-year-old daughter and I stayed at the Pond Cottage for a summer vacation to Bellingham. We were escaping a Midwestern heat wave and arrived just in time for sunny 70 degree days for the duration of our visit. Upon arriving at Debbie and Harvey's property we both said, "We actually get to stay here!?" The property is really that beautiful. As much as there is to do in and around Bellingham and the San Juans there were days when all we wanted to do was go for a run on the InterUrban and hang out with the animals next to the cottage all day, listening to the waterfall in the background. There is just a beautiful, restorative energy emanating from this place, and Debbie and Harvey's kindness made it seem all the more welcoming, The nights were cool and comfortable. The little kitchen was perfect for preparing simple meals, and the induction stove was quick and easy to use. The cottage is nicely decorated with beautiful art, comfortable furnishings, cork flooring and warm carpet. We spent most of our time outside, but were just as comfortable during the times we were indoors. We went running on the InterUrban daily, ran the Chuckanut Foot Race, took a whale watching tour, drove to Deception Pass and took several smaller hikes near the beaches and lakes in Bellingham. The stay at the Pond Cottage will be a highlight of your trip, leaving you feeling rejuvenated, rested, inspired, and energized - truly the goal of any good getaway!" BSF Indiana "We loved our stay here. Cozy, comfortable, everything we needed for a low key get away. Loved the waterfall and pond view. Comfy bed. Perfect spot for hiking, biking, kayaking. The interurban trail is right out the door, as are hiking trials on Chuckanut mountain. We'll definitely be back for another Bellingham area get away--great fun. When we do we will stay here again for sure." KK, Bainbridge Island, WA
The property is surrounded by spectacular scenery yet close to town. The InterUrban Trail heads north into Bellingham or south to Clayton Beach and Larrabee State Park.

  • It. Was. So. Beautiful! It’s hard to describe just how serene the cottage and the grounds are. The hosts left us goodies to welcome us and we immediately felt at home. Our son goes to college here and we will try to stay every time we visit. A true gem.

  • We easily used the code to get in and enjoyed the quiet weekend outside if Bellingham. We loved the gardens surrounding the house, the water, and the surrounding serene trees. We used the fabulous sauna one night! The kitchen had everything we needed to fix our meals and they provided a Keurig with coffee, tea, and cocoa. There was a wonderful fruit basket as well. The beds were comfy and we slept well. It was a very relaxing weekend!

  • We loved Marci's place and how generous she was. The backyard is amazing and space was cute and cozy!

    Jenna2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were profoundly amazed by the natural beauty and wonders all around us at the Whispering Cottage. It had everything we expected and far more. This place had all the peace and serenity of a formal retreat center in a relaxed and charming setting. The interior was impeccable and after our 16 hour driving odyssey getting there, the personal touches of welcome were just what we needed to realize our vacation had begun! When our whole family was hammered by a nasty flu Marci stepped up to deliver us breakfast treats the next day and was regularly checking in via text to let us know we weren't alone, just what you want when you're out of commission in a town you don't know yet. We feel grateful and indebted to Marci for her many kindnesses and understanding throughout our stay. We wish we could award her six or seven stars but until they work that out the five stars will have to do!

    Michelle2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a wonderful private weekend getaway oasis, look no further. The backyard is a dream and is very close to a number of trails for mountain biking and hiking. The thoughtful touches from Marci were so lovely and there are even some great local tips in the book. We had a perfect stay and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to explore Chuckanut!

  • Beautiful place, easy to find great communication with host. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back to get the opportunity to use the steam shower and sauna! Our stay was way too short! Comfortable beds, fresh fruit, coffee. The koi were amazing and huge. We will be back!

    Michele2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for traveling and hiking around Fairhaven/Bellingham area. It was a very unique space and excellent location. The two bedrooms were ideal for traveling with my boyfriend and parents and gave us enough space to move around comfortably. Didn't end up using the sauna or spa area but would have liked to and was an added plus, making this well worth the affordable cost.

    Brittany2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do this Air BnB justice. While it is a little south of Bellingham city, everything is less than 20 minutes away. We were able to use the backyard heating so we could hang out in their gorgeous landscape during our stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone spending a weekend in Bellingham.

  • This. Was. Amazing. By far the best AirBnB I’ve ever stayed at. The view looks amazing in the picture and somehow it’s even better in real life. Carol was a wonderful host and we had everything we needed — from milk, eggs, butter and orange juice in the fridge to the wonderful Sonos sound system. It was a dream. We will be back.

Check in was smooth and easy. Carol was so easy and quick to communicate with. The view and house are even more beautiful than in the photos featured. Absolutely recommend.

New studio in a recreation paradise! Clean, warm and bright, with a fully furnished kitchen and bath and tiny gas fireplace. It's a perfect home base for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and eagle watching. Hosts are familiar with local recreation opportunities and can share tips!
We had a great time creating this amazing studio apartment! The space is beautifully crafted and furnished, full of light. The 3/4 bath has a heated floor and custom tile shower. Kitchen cabinets are made out of yellow cedar salvaged years ago and stored for this project. Window and baseboard trim are made of maple from our homestead. The kitchen is fully set up with a gas range, dishwasher, and plenty of room for two. It it always stocked with good coffee and teas! The bed is an easy-to-set-up futon couch/bed with a new organic cotton and wool mattress and down comforter. A tiny gas fireplace completes the cozy room.
Our location in the Welcome Valley is a perfect base for recreation and relaxation. Activities like mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, or just skipping rocks on the river can all be accessed right out the door. People come from all over the region to see salmon and eagles November through February. For skiers and snowboarders, we are just an hour's drive from the legendary Mount Baker Ski Area.

The newly renovated Chuckanut Bay Cottage is just steps from the beach and a quick trip down scenic Chuckanut Drive to historic Fairhaven in beautiful Bellingham, Washington. Perfect for a couple needing a romantic getaway, or the outdoor enthusiast
The cottage is newly renovated with a full kitchen, bath and luxurious king bed and a comfortable sofa bed for a comfortable stay. The views are to the west over the water and the beach a few steps away. When you are not out exploring the trails, town or water, it is a wonderful place to relax and watch the beautiful sunsets. Comfortably sleeps 2 but we can add a single bed if needed.
After living in the NW for many years in several locations, we have settled in one of the very best. Just above the cottage is Chuckanut Mountain and Larrabee State Park which has endless miles of hiking and mountain biking trails including the new Rock Trail which hosts stunning geologic formations such as 100 foot high sandstone cliffs, caves and enormous mossy boulders. The waterfront opportunities here are limitless. A short paddle from the beach is Chuckanut Island, a Nature Conservancy island, with nesting seabirds and fine white shell beaches at low tide. One of our favorite things to do is just sit and watch what the change in tide brings; the magnificent sunsets, weather over the water, the birds and boats.
  • Such an awesome getaway. Great view of the water, spotless inside and a very nice and attentive host!

    Danielle2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful slice of paradise on Chuckanut Bay! We enjoyed the hot tub and beautiful views through the windows. Steps down to a private beach made this place so peaceful! • John and Sarah were amazing hosts, they were so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed to make it a great stay. We ended up booking this at the last minute, because we got turned around at the pass on our way to Mt. Baker and were so pleasantly surprised at quality of the house. The views are unparalleled and we could not have asked for a better stay!

Amy and I rescued and updated this neighborhood, turn of the century, 800+ sf character home in 2016. The Bungalow is located within walking distance of both WWU (1 mile) and downtown Bellingham (0.8 miles) and the neighborhood boasts several great breweries and dining options. The bungalow is located on a dead end, single-family street.
This house is a turn of the century character home in the York neighborhood. We have relished the opportunity to fix it up. Major updates have been made to the roof and electrical. I installed new hardwood to the foyer, living room, bedroom #2 and the dining room. Both the exterior and interior have fresh coats of paint and I replaced the front porch. The kitchen could use an update but is clean and has fully functional appliances and is stocked with everything you need to cook. Sorry, no dishwasher.
The best part about York neighborhood is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown bellingham or Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying bellingham. The neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal university student energy.
  • The bungalow was a great cozy little place. I was comfortable and there were lots of thoughtful touches. Chris and Amy are prompt communicators.

  • We and our dog had a great stay at Chris and Amy's place. The home: We were expecting student housing since its in a student neighborhood, so it was a pleasant surprise that the home looks so new and quite classy! Nice leather sofas, wood floors and good décor. The beds were super comfortable, and the home was warm and cozy. The board games were a nice touch. The kitchen counters have limited space but the hosts have provided everything you may need to make a quick meal. Plenty of towels and even an extra toothbrush, which I found handy because I forgot to pack mine! Shower was warm and had good water pressure. The location: We parked across the home in the dedicated parking spot provided by the hosts. Street parking seemed to be full for the night. There was a party in one of the homes but the bedrooms are towards the back of the home and we didn't hear a thing. Nice, well lit neighborhood that felt safe when we walked our dog late night. close to downtown, a quick uber ride away. The hosts: Chris and Amy kept in touch and even got our home ready hours before the check in time mentioned in the listing. They were very responsive. They have added a lot of thoughtful touches around the home to make for a very comfortable stay. All in all, a great stay, highly recommend!

  • The apartment is attached to the main house by the laundry area and foyer, adding to the privacy. There is a privacy lock at the foyer entrance and one to the apartment itself. Upon entering, it is apparent how much care went into designing the space so that it is welcoming. The space is accurately depicted by the photos offered, but only for the objects placed in the room. They don’t convey the feelings of comfort and warmth. The space is immaculate and linens and towels are high quality. Parking is right outside the apartment door and the home is in a lovely neighborhood. The walk into town is short and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. When we arrived, I had no cellular service, and could not access the door code to enter the apartment so I contacted Nancy. She responded promptly with the code. After that there were no other reasons to contact the host because all the rules were clearly laid out. When we and I are back in town, this is the apartment we will seek to rent again. We highly recommend it.

  • Lin’s place is an Outstanding AirBnb! A wonderful location, extremely comfortable bed and accommodations for a great night of rest and relaxation in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to stay here again!

  • This GORGEOUS unit was perfect for our needs during our long weekend in Bellingham. It was warm, inviting, and well appointed. They truly had everything we could possibly need. It was beyond clean...not a speck of dirt anywhere...not even around edges or in corners. There was a sweet little vase with a couple of fresh flowers in the kitchen window ~ which was the cherry on top. If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we would definitely stay there again.

    Marcie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

Spectacular views of mountains and the San Juan islands from the cliff edge on this wooded five acre estate on the peninsula which is Samish Island. Quiet and secluded you are unlikely to hear cars, but you may hear the rattling of anchor chains from the boats in the bay and the chipping sound of bald eagles outside. Two bedrooms; One with queen-size bed, the other a twin day bed and office combo.A third pullout sofa bed is in the living room.
This is an ideal getaway for a romantic weekend. Or a great place for a retreat from the corona virus.Doubly disinfected, it can fit 3 people .
Walk in any direction you will soon arrive at the beach. You may not see any cars,or people. You are sure to see and hear bald eagles, likely deer.
  • The setting amongst the trees and garden overlooking the water was beyond what we expected. Absolutely a beautiful place to spend time with my love. The amenities we’re comfortable. John’s touring information was super helpful and the location was was perfect for throwing on your shoes and getting out to enjoy all that Samish Island has to offer. Having Edison near by was great as well. We will definitely stay here again.

  • What a great guest house! Very cool drive into the property through a tightly-wooded, slightly windy, forested lot which opens-up to an awesome turn circle with main house on one side and the guest house (Airbnb) on the other! There is easy private parking with fresh gravel and a path to the guest house. The deck is about 1/3-covered and has a nice bench to sit on and enjoy the view across the long lawn. Quite spacious inside; comfortably fits 3-4 guests. Clean cabin with good amenities and working oven/fridge. The bathroom was clean and the shower has good water pressure. The host was friendly, very communicative, and flexible to my schedule (thank you!). I can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

  • Beautiful & enchanting forested property. We enjoyed simply walking down the driveway & back, especially at night. Very beautiful. I found the walk to the public beach to be easy & enjoyable, about 15min to get there. Lots of agates & shells along the beaches to keep an eye out for as well as a variety of birds including bald eagles. The house was simple & comfortable. We felt we had our privacy with it being a shared property. Thanks for letting us stay. We will keep you in mind for future stays. -kb

  • A secluded and peaceful cottage nestled next to a beautiful landscaped property with a sweeping water view. The unassuming cottage is warm and clean with a well stocked kitchen you can use to cook in, or you can use the grill outside with supplied briquettes. There is a down to earth living room that has large picture frame windows to take in the beautiful outside view. The big screen TV is a huge plus with lots of free content, and has a very strong WiFi signal. The area is very quiet, and my only regret is that I did not get to all the hiking spots or light a fire in the outstanding fire pit. Definitely next time!!

    Peter2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved being at John's. If you are looking to get away from the urban environment while still retaining all the luxuries of it, this is a place to visit. It was quiet and peaceful while we were there. One can focus on writing, self-reflection, or other ways of self-care, while still being able to use a wi-fi for tasks that cannot be put off. The back of the house has a neat little tennis court and a basketball hoop, too, which we did not use but had the option to. I hope to be back.

Enjoying the breathtaking views of the middle of the towering tress. It is walking distance to the interurban trail and the beaches at Teddy Bear cove. Larrabe State park, and numerous mountain bike trails are minutes away as well. Mt. Baker, Canada, and Galbraith are a short drive away. The city of Bellingham is a five minute drive. The nearest towns of Fairhaven, and Bellingham offer fine dining, breweries, grocery and specialty stores galore. The suite is very quiet. Relax with the birds chirping in the day and hear the amazing owls in the evenings. The deer and rabbits love this area as well. The parking is onsite but you will need to call and coordinate to make your arrival as convenient as possible. When time permits around our schedules, we're available to offer rides to go snowboarding/skiing (backcountry riding too, split boarding and skinning), go out in the boat and explore Bellingham Bay, and find some of the secret spots to ride dirt bikes. We have tools and space to work on your equipment onsite. Willing to provide guided tours.
Chuckanut Drive neighborhood is surrounded by scenic overviews, displaying Bellingham Bay, the Olympic Peninsula, Canada, Lummi Island, and various Pacific Northwest features.
  • Place is very comfortable. Beautiful location.

  • Great spot, easy access to Bellingham, the ocean, trails, etc...

    Duncan2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a cozy spot! Perfect for a last minute weekend getaway. Even during Washington's cold and wet January days, we were able to enjoy our morning sipping coffee and reading books on the porch, surrounded by the trees. Despite feeling so secluded, the treehouse is only a short drive away from shops and restaurants in historic Fairhaven. We cant wait to come back!

    Michelle2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy space in such a beautiful part of the Pacific Northwest. Highly recommended!

  • We stayed here for two nights and it was very nice. There was coffee and tea and hot cocoa, microwave, fridge, tv with cable. Everything felt very clean and I felt comfortable and safe. The trees and little chipmunks were beautiful to look at. I enjoyed staying here. Would recommend.

This is the larger bedroom of the two available in this house. This room offers a more comfortable bed and also more space to put your things. We recommend selecting this room over The other listing in the house if you have an extended stay. The kitchen and bathroom are shared with hosts and/ or other AirBnB guests depending on if we are in town. The kitchen and bathroom are open to use during your stay.
The space is good for comfortable sleeping and for safely storing your things during your stay.
The neighborhood is located on a deadend street, so traffic is minimal. Feel free to take a walk and enjoy the area. There are several lakes and hiking trailed located within a short drive.

A unique house in downtown Historic Fairhaven which has been converted into a working micro-brewery. A block away from local amenities, including boutique shops & great restaurants. You can easily hop on to the inter-urban trail which links parks, fantastic hiking, biking & downtown Bellingham. Fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi & a tasty, craft ale is only a step away.
Our cozy home is also home to a small micro-brewery which is housed in shipping containers in the back yard. Guests are welcome to use the backyard which has a fire pit, or the patio upstairs which gets lots of sun to eat their meals. These areas are only accessible when the taproom is open. The detached garage has been converted into our taproom, so a tasty ale, created on site is never far away. The bedroom is in the back of the house. It is surprisingly quiet, so you won't be disturbed by patrons of the brewery. In fact, there is the constant gurgling sound of a running stream, which is actually our glycol system that is used to cool our beer and walk-in cooler. The kitchen is fully equipment, including a gas range so you can cook to your hearts delight. There is coffee and tea readily available too. The window above the kitchen sink looks out on to the front beer garden of the brewery. You can always create some privacy by closing the blinds. The dated bathroom has a shower tub, which is stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, toothpaste, first aid kit and most importantly with a tub....soothing bubble bath! The lounge/living area is our biggest space. It receives a lot of light and looks out on to the front street, and a window faces the front beer garden. Again, there are blinds, curtains and sheer curtains to create more privacy for yourself, if you so desire. You can hear the murmur of conversations in the front beer garden. The comfy couch in the living room opens up into sleeper bed. Stairs go upstairs to our office space. There is a door that creates privacy for you downstairs; however, the house is a little squeaky, so you will hear foot steps upstairs as we access the space during office hours and often in the evening to access our merchandise stock for the brewery. We only access the office space through the brewery, and never via your space downstairs.
Our micro-brewery home is located one block from downtown Historic Fairhaven. There are beautiful boutique shops just a stroll around the corner, and great restaurants with some excellent happy hours & food. Obviously, we think Stones Throw Brewery is the best place for a beer, but if you want wine or cocktails we love visiting the Black Cat. Access to the Inter-Urban Trail is across the road. You can bike south towards Fairhaven Park (5min), Arroyo Park (15-20min), Larrabee State Park (45min) or you can bike/walk north into downtown Bellingham which takes you out over the water along the Taylor Dock Board Walk and past Woods Coffee. In the summer time the Community Boating Center is open and you can easily rent a paddle board/paddle boat for some fun sightseeing on Bellingham Bay. A block and a half away you will find our local grocery store, Haggens. Very convenient.
  • Awesome place!! Really cool location right next to the brewery. Nadine was quick to respond and check in/out was super easy. The place was very clean and well decorated. I even recommended it to some local friends for a stay-cation. Thanks so much!!

  • Super location and easy to find. Great brewery! Loved having a beer and then walking a few steps to the sweet accommodations for the evening! Would stay here again without hesitation! Price is right. Place is super clean. Thank you!

  • Great hosts, communication and environment. We will return for the beer, er ah, bed... okay, both!

  • We lived in Bellingham and were back for a visit - what an awesome opportunity to stay at Stones Throw! We have always loved this brewery, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to stay there. The hosts had great communication it’s a unique experience to stay at a local brewery. The location couldn’t be better, within walking distance of all the cute shops in Fairhaven. The place is clean and cozy. We loved our stay!

    Molly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Nadines Place. Loved the location, within walking distance to the cute town of Fairhaven.

    Christina2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the guest house and it’s still as excellent as it was a year ago. Clean, great check-in process, and conveniently located to all the fun things Fairhaven has to offer. And of course the beer was great! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to visit Bellingham.

    Keira2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This guest house is awesome! Probably best for a couple as the space isn't huge. It was great that the front door opens right onto the brewery's patio, giving a more open feel. During the afternoon and early evening you could definitely notice there were people nearby and hear the din of conversation, but it was more than quiet enough for bedtime. Having beer merely steps away is a major convenience.

Newly renovated one bedroom apartment in the heart of Old Fairhaven Historic District. Located two minutes walking to downtown amenities. Fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and privacy. This apartment is located above a quiet law office with private, coded access. On one side is a condo complex and on the other, a micro brewery. There is parking for one vehicle. ***Twice disinfecting and sanitizing of ALL walls, counters, soft surfaces - EVERYTHING.
This a newly renovated historic building in the center of Old Fairhaven. Originally built in 1909, the building used to be part of the colorful history of Old Fairhaven Prostitution! In it's heyday, it was called "Anne's Palace" and owned by a madam named Anne Bronson. This apartment is small, perfect for two or three people. It starts getting cramped with four adults. Keep that in mind. Please let the host know if you will be needing the sofa bed. As this apartment is next to a micro-brewery, there may be some days and nights with bands that play. There should be no more noise from bands or activities after 9:30-10PM.
This home is in walking distance to urban trails, the Bellingham Amtrak Station, Community Boating Shed (for kayak and paddle board rentals), and all the wonderful Old Fairhaven downtown shops and restaurants, as well as the Farmer's Market. Please scroll all the way down to see the map and locations marked as points of interest. This apartment is located within walking distance to almost everything in Old Fairhaven. There are several listings, restaurants, and places of interest that have been listed; be sure to read about all the great places in Fairhaven and Bellingham! As this is next to a micro-brewery, there may be some days and nights with bands that play. There should be no more noise from bands or activities after 9:30-10PM.

  • We go to Bellingham a few times every year and have stayed at many different places there. From now on, if this one is available, it's our choice. We like walking around Fairhaven and especially like the boardwalk. The apartment is perfectly situated for our needs of R&R when we go there. Her place is pristine, beautifully updated, well appointed in every detail down to often forgotten items, plus timely hand sanitizer! It's a cozy, wonderful little place. My husband's favorite ever!

    Joan2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here has become an annual tradition for us. The location can't be beat! Equally awesome is the apartment with amenities. Kristi is easy to work with and quick to respond.

The perfect location for your stay in Bellingham! Keep your car parked and walk to St. Joseph Hospital. Ideal for traveling medical professionals (nurses, doctors, physical therapists, etc) or families of patients. Bellingham’s Cornwall Park with tennis, trails, disc golf and old growth trees is very close by! Downtown Bellingham, a hidden gem of the Pacific Northwest, is a 10 minute bike ride or 20 minute walk and is a hub of enjoyment that consistently maintains a creative community feel.
  • If you are a traveling medical professional working at St. Joseph Medical Center, snag this place before it’s booked!!!! My stay here was 4 1/2 months. I worked as a traveling nurse at St. Joseph’s and this house is literally located right across the street from the hospital. It took me about 5 minutes to get from door to door walking. It’s in a great location close to downtown and is at the end of the road in a quiet neighborhood. You can walk to many of the breweries/restaurants or it is a quick 5-10 min car ride. The living space is in the basement of this home with a door that deadbolts to the upstairs of the house. It also has a private entrance. The owner lives upstairs and is friendly but did not bother us at all. You can hear footsteps etc but that’s about it so there weren’t any issues with noise. In the pictures it is kind of hard to tell but there is a stove top located on the kitchen counter. It is a two burner. There is also a toaster oven for baking. The only downside about the kitchen is the mini fridge. Due to space in the fridge we had to grocery shop a few times a week due but it is doable. The backyard is grassy and a great area for a dog to play. The house is close to the road but there is hardly to no traffic going up and down that section of the road. The house is two houses down from Cornwall Park which is an amazing trail/park area to take your dogs or kids. We used it daily for our morning dog walks! :) I would highly recommend this place and would stay here again!

    Michelle2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect, cute and comfortable with everything you need. and being so close to Cornwall park was amazing. Jesse was great, welcoming and very helpful! Thank you!

    Brianna2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse's place is amazing! Bright, very spacious and comfortable. I had plenty of room to organize my items since this was a long term stay. The area is very private and quiet yet still close to what downtown Bellingham has to offer. There is a park steps away that is such a gem. Jesse is very communicative as well as great to converse with. Definitely will be back!

    Tess2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jesse's for about 4 months. The space was just as described and Jesse was a great host. He gave us our space/privacy and was always quick to respond if anything needed fixing in the unit (which was super rare). This space was perfect for work at the hospital and also wonderful for our dog as Cornwall Park is right around the corner.

The Garden Suite is walking distance to Historic Fairhaven, Western Washington University, parks, restaurant dining, a local brewery, art and culture, and great views. You’ll love our spot because of the gardens and tranquility. It is a delight of both flowers, vegetables and birds. The Garden Suite has a cozy cottage feeling within a quiet neighborhood, and the location offers all that a small village can, with a city nearby.
The Garden Suite is a small accommodation attached to the main house with a private entrance. It is accessible by going through the gate at the road and following the path to the backyard. An entryway- eating and work area, small kitchen, bedroom and sitting area, bathroom, and lovely garden make this a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. The Garden Suite is comfortable and cozy, yet small. Best for one, or a couple. The space is about 200 sq. ft. The ceilings are low, a warning for people over 6'4", you may have to duck in the doorways. The bed is a cotton-filled, slightly smaller than full, futon, with an ergonomically sprung frame and an adjustable head rest. A memory foam mattress pad and a down comforter in the winter will be cozy for your night's rest. The living space includes a bedroom-sitting area, kitchen, entry way-eating and work area, and a bathroom- with shower. Although attached to the main house, the Garden Suite has a private entrance and overlooks a quiet garden space. The birds are a joy anytime of year. We do appreciate a quiet home environment, with that said, Derek is a working musician and we love to spend time with our grandkids, so you might hear acoustic music, voices and laughter through the walls. Also, we are close to the freeway- one mile, so if you have the windows open you may hear cars in the distance. Although our space accommodates two, if you have more than two adults or children, please let us know so we can provide extra sleeping gear. There will be an extra person charge of $10 each person after 2, children 6 and under are free of charge. We will provide a floor mattress, extra sheets, pillows and blankets for the extra person. For your use if needed, we have a play/pack crib, just let us know and we'll have it ready for you. Be aware that if you choose to use the floor mattress or crib there is limited floor space when the beds are in use. Feel free to move the furniture if you like. The furnace is regulated in the main house, and provides heat to the suite, however we do provide an extra space heater and fan for your comfort. Since the space is small it can be very warm. Adjusting the floor vents or opening the windows will make it more comfortable for people who like a cooler space. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and we provide breakfast items such as, coffee, a selection of teas, granola, milk, juice and fruit. Please ask if there is something you need for cooking that is not provided. There is no TV! A CD/ radio player and several CDs are for your use. We do have a NO pet policy, however if you must bring your pet along, please contact us before your visit. We love dogs, however with other guests in mind, we prefer not to have them visit. A pet fee will apply, $15, and for long stays a refundable deposit will be required the first night of your stay ($100) and collected (a check) when you arrive. Please message us about your pet needs. Please use the back yard garden spaces as they were your own. The back yard has quiet places to relax, and can be used at any time. We generally use the front gardens for our own use, and occasionally will be in the back working in the garden areas. A small garden patio outside the suite is for your use. Inside the house is smoke free. We would appreciate smoking outside only. Thank you!
The Southside, Happy Valley, Fairhaven neighborhood offers it's residents and guests many enjoyable and convenient amenities. Walking distance to the Alaskan Ferry terminal, Greyhound bus and train terminal, Western Washington University, Fairhaven Village, Taylor Dock and Boulevard Park, the Interurban trails of Chucknut Mt. (for biking and hiking), Haggen grocery store, and several restaurants and boutiques. Despite all this activity, our neighborhood is quiet, friendly and colorful, for walking, jogging or relaxing. The birds are plentiful, look for the bird books in the suite.
  • You can tell that lot of love and attention went into creating this very charming and cozy space. Loved our stay!

    Krishna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Always a wonderful stay at Laura and Derek's place. This is my third time staying there when I travel into town for work because of their hospitality. Will definitely stay again!

    Ariel2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • When you walk into the garden you feel like you're in a magical fairy land. The short path to the guest entrance was very clear. We had no problems getting into the house. Communication with the hosts was perfect. The space was clean, warm, and very inviting. An excellent essential oil blend made the place smell like mulling spices - an excellent choice for late winter. The stove top espresso maker and teapot with infuser were very much appreciated. I will absolutely be staying here again!

    Nan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great hosts, fully outfitted. The space has everything you need and is SUPER cozy! It’s an easy choice especially given the awesome value.

The design, amenities, and treats (coffee, chocolates, baking supplies) made our stay extra special. A true gem! We are already scoping out dates for a second stay.

  • Very much enjoyed this amazing cabin. The mattresses and bedding was comfortable. There were a lot of great instructions on how to use appliances and the fireplace. The woods surrounding the property were beautiful. And the home itself is very striking, inside and out, with a lot of cool materials.
