The Annex is on a small farmlet, 6 km south of Whangarei, with harbour views. It was a sleepout, built in the 1980's, separate, but next to the main house. It has two bedrooms. There is a double bed and two singles plus a day bed in the living area. The living/ dining area, has a wood fire. There is a small shower room and separate toilet. It is situated about 100 mtr off SH1, so there can be road noise. There are no streetlights and it can be very dark if you arrive after sundown.

At least a 10min flat walk to the beach, however a beach cart was needed if taking a beach cabana and chilli bins etc. We opted for a short drive to the beach when we were going for a few hours. Nice walk up the hill through bush to get to Whale Bay which was beautiful.

Thank you to Silv and Steve for a wonderful getaway! Silv and Steve were very welcoming, kind and responsive. The prepared pizza dough on arrival as well as being invited to explore the wood shop and feed the alpacas was a special touch. The cabin was very clean and tidy. It was beautifully finished with lovely woodwork by Silv and Steve. The wood fired pizza oven and hot tub was an extra touch. The marked walks on the property were fun to explore. The view was lovely. Overall fantastic stay. We will definitely stay if we head back to the area. Would highly recommend it!
