“Andrea’s bungalow is charming, clean, and has a fantastic location: Only a min from the San Agustinillo beach, a short walk from small grocery stores, a fantastic local arts/ crafts store just down the small alley from her house and great dining options around(our favorites were El Navegante, Paraiso de Pescador). In 10 mins you can reach Mazunte by walking, enjoy the less wavy small beach in Rinconcito (my personal favorite), have a delicious juice in El Tiburon or great coffee across the street from there. Ponte Cometa is also super close for a fantastic sunset. On the other side of the bungalow is Zipolite, which you can access with the shuttle/ trucks that go through the main road. Andrea was an excellent communicator both before and during our stay, answering all our questions regarding transportation, check in and check out. Everything in her bungalow was as advertised. No surprises. Beach bag and the coronas in the fridge were a pleasant surprise! The bungalow is a separate unit from their main house, so there is privacy. Yes, it can get hot but they placed fans so it was helpful. (Note: we went in January) They have a kitchen area with dishes and amenities but we didn’t use it for fear of attracting bugs. That was our personal preference, you’re in the nature so anything can be expected! Their dog Annie is adorable and welcomes you each time you open the gate. They also have roosters/ chickens! :) I recommend going through the guidebook Andrea took the time to prepare for her guests. We found it really helpful during our stay. Have cash with you but if you run out, Mazunte has 2 ATMs and luckily they were working during our stay! :) We highly recommend staying at Andrea’s bungalow for a fantastic experience in the beautiful Oaxacan Coast. We can’t wait to be back again. Thanks for hosting us! :) Ishel & Zach”
CASA MONO They are magnificent rooms located on the shores of San Agustinillo in the state of Oaxaca Mexico, equipped with air conditioning, full packed frigobar, television and bunk beds for extra guests, both have terraces (one with private pool and the other with a spectacular view of San Agustinillo) located in an area called Rancho Las Hamacas, Mono House offers the quietest experience to relax and forget about your stressful city life.
“Our stay at Casa Mono was just perfect! The location is wonderful: close to the beach (ca. 5 minutes), walking distance (max. 10 minutes/or a short taxi ride) to a lot of good restaurants and really quiet! Gabby is really wonderful as well: she responds really quickly, has many wonderful recommendations and will help you with anything. Be sure to watch a sunset from the balcony of the appartment, it’s great!”
The Blue Cabin is a traditional, rustic palapa, palm roof, 55 meters from the beach, ocean view, Wifi, hammocks, equipped kitchen, fridge, purified water and grill. Surrounded by jungle, the sounds that are heard are the birds and the murmur of the sea. In the bedroom (protected with a mosquito net) it has a double bed and a single (firm) futon, fan and safe. In the living room you have a sofa bed and other options. It has a private ecological bathroom in the garden a few steps away.
“A sweet outdoor cabaña with an enclosed bedroom up a ladder. There is another full bed on the main deck with a mosquito net; I preferred it. Outdoor toilet and shower. Reasonably stocked kitchen. You overlook a wooded valley where you can see and hear the ocean nearby. There are cabins on the other side of the valley but the space is quite private. Walk down a trail a few minutes from the cabaña to a quiet beach. Walk west on the beach 15-20 minutes to get to town. Or from the cabaña walk five minutes up to the road and catch a bus or taxi, or walk another 10-15 minutes west, into San Agustinillo. There you will find groceries, restaurants, and people. Zipolite is twice as far, east, over a hill. There is also a communal space just up the hill for fires and visiting with a sweeping view of the ocean.”
