The Black Journey- Philadelphia Black History Walking Tour
The tour will commence at the Independence Visitor's Center with an introduction to the topic of Black History during the colonial period. You will hear about the role that Black Americans played in the founding of the nation. The group will continue to the President’s House and hear about the 9 enslaved people who were held there. The group will hear about Martha Washington's handmaid who ran away to escape slavery. At the next stop you will see where The Fugitive Slave Act 1793 was passed. The next stop is Congo Square where people of African descent held celebrations. It is also a potter's field where free and enslaved Africans are still buried to this day. The next stop is Mother Bethel AME Church. There is where the African Methodist Episcopal Church was established and is the oldest piece of real estate owned by people of African descent in the United States. You will hear about the liberation of a woman whose owner attempted to abduct her back into slavery and the trial of her rescuers. You will also see the traditional sites of Independence Hall, liberty bell, Congress Hall, and much more Other things to note Masks are required. Alpaca, Llama Adventure
Come and join us for an intimate and educational experience on the day and the life of an Alpaca caregiver! We provide an opportunity for people 5 and older to feed, occasionally pet, halter train and a guided walk with Alpaca and Llama! In addition we will share some unique and educational information regarding camelids! We may also stop to greet our unique and crazy flock of chickens! Book a private experience for special occasions, birthdays, engagements!! We have limited availability during the week, however can accommodate larger groups via request Other things to note Please wear appropriate shoes (sorry no Flip flops or sandals) or bring an extra pair! We do have a public restroom and do have facilities to wash up before and after your experience. Our event is for children 5 and up. Artisan Sourdough Bread Workshop
After arrival and introductions, we'll start the process by showing you how to properly slash your dough and get it into the oven. this will allow our first loaves to bake and cool in time for sampling, because who wants to attend a sourdough class and not get to eat any of it? :) Next, we'll begin the process of mixing ingredients, going over the recipe and process. during the periods when the dough will be resting ill conduct a demonstration for a fun live cultured beverage, you can make at home or simply enjoy it during the baking class. Since there is so much time involved in producing a loaf, I'll be moving along with the steps as quickly as we can and spending most of the time between processes answering questions and explaining the why behind the techniques. classes typically last between 3-4 hours so light refreshments will be served throughout the class. You will leave class with, starter, instruction printout, a loaf of bread to bake the next and a bread proofing basket. Other things to note Let me know if you have any food allergies.

Join us at the wood-fired outdoor brick oven for an evening of delicious farmstead fresh pizza. Saturday nights, May-October, we invite neighbors, friends, and guests to make pizzas with local ingredients, enjoy field fresh salads, and sit around the campfire. Tour an Organic Farm in the Catskills
We’ll meet by the bridge that runs over our creek, walk through the pastures, the gardens and barns. We’ll talk about the season, what crops we are currently harvesting, where animals are, why we move them around so much, and our growing techniques. You'll meet our beautiful Maremmas (Rose and Rey) that serve as guard dogs for our livestock and see where our chickens roost and where our cows and sheep graze with plenty of opportunity for questions. At the end of the tour stop by the farm store for a complimentary cold drink or popsicle and let the kids run loose on the playground. Other things to note The tour is not strenuous but we will be walking up some hills, and depending on the weather it may be a bit muddy. Please wear appropriate footwear and sun/rain protection. On this tour, we’ll explore Independence National Historical Park and the Old City neighborhood to see a plethora of historical landmarks! Along the way, your guide will keep you posted on the history of these sites and fill you in on all kinds of useful info for your visit to Philly. After circling Independence Hall, we’ll make our way through other areas of the park. You’ll learn about the history of the Liberty Bell and how it has been used over the years. We’ll see Carpenters Hall, where the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was founded. Next, we’ll head to the Museum of American Revolution, which offers an incredible look at the stories, artifacts, and people that shaped the American Revolution. We’ll go inside to see a presentation of George Washington’s War Tent ( when your tour is over, you’ll be able to get a discounted ticket to see the rest of the museum). As we walk through Old City, we’ll also pass by some favorite sites outside Independence Park, such as Elfreth’s Alley (the oldest continuously-occupied residential street in the entire US), showcasing incredible architecture dating back to the early 1700s, the Betsy Ross House, named after a famous seamstress and flag maker who is said to have sewn the first ever American flag, Benjamin Franklin’s Grave (bring a penny to toss!), and the outdoor President’s House Landmark where Washington and Adams lived.

Become a Candlemaking Master
Guests will receive a hands on class in candle-making. My candle-making class is unique because I create candles that look and smell like edible foods! Guests will be given a tour of my facility and shown different varieties of candles that I make and be offered light snacks and drinks. Then guests will be able to choose which designs they'd like to attempt creating themselves or simply create their very own design from scratch! I will guide them from start to finish on each aspect of creating the candle. Guests will be able to take home their creation and will have completed the class with candlemaking knowledge and experience. Cow cuddle and destress with rescue brown swiss cows
Cow Cuddling Therapy - Guests will meet and actively interact with docile, loving and affectionate rescue brown swiss cows, oxen and calves. Guests arrive to our Working Farm & Sanctuary, and are given an educational and fun tour by tractor or foot of the 350 acres, where they will be introduced to how humans, cows, the land and nature co-exist harmoniously. After the tour, guests are escorted to our newly constructed cow barn to lay in the comfortable straw with each of the cows as they rest and ruminate. This close contact and touch relieves stress and uplifts the spirit of the cow cuddler. This therapy is known as Koe Knuffelen and is extremely supportive of improved mental health. The experience concludes with a delicious plant-based / vegan meal prepared by the Sanctuary's Culinary Center from produce raised organically on the very same land and/or sourced locally from other farmers. Hamilton - The Tour where it Happens!
Alexander Hamilton - Revolutionary War hero, Washington's aide-de-camp, member of the Constitutional Convention, author of the Federalist Papers, first Secretary of the Treasury - the list goes on and on. Hamilton spent a good deal of time here in Philadelphia (some even with his short lived mistress Maria Reynolds), and we explore his life and the places here. We will meet a cast of characters along the way, such as George Washington, John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison, among others. Come join me on this fun filled tour into the life and times of one of the truly remarkable Founding Fathers. We will be listening to 9 shortened songs from the musical, so come and sing along if you know the words. If you haven't seen the play, this we be an excellent introduction! Meet and Greet the Cutest Sheep in the World
Meet and cuddle our Valais Blacknose Sheep, the Cutest Sheep in the World. Grateful Acres is part of the Valais Blacknose Sheep breed up program in North America. You will be able to meet and pet our sheep and when we have lambs in the spring, you may hold and cuddle with the lambs. We are expecting our first domestic purebred lambs in March. You may also have your experience photographed by our farm photographer. Valais Blacknose Sheep are very personable and love attention. They are like large fluffy dogs. We will tell you about our breeding program and answer any questions you may have about this amazing breed of sheep. Please wear boots as this is a farm and can be muddy. Please bring folding chairs, we have a few but if you can bring your own it helps. There is no rest room at the farm.

It’s 5 of our favorite bars with a secret bar or speakeasy along the tour; That even people that live in the city don’t know about. Create memories on the pottery wheel
Craft with your own hands on the wheel, while learning the art of throwing. Our pottery-making classes are for those with a passion and curiosity for creating. Whether you're a first-time thrower or an expert, you are always welcome in our studio. Here we value the freedom to express yourself and all are inspired to create. Our one-time class offers a perfect opportunity to try pottery without committing to a multiple week course. This is a great activity for beginners or people who have no experience with pottery. In your class, your teacher will walk you through the steps of throwing during a demonstration. Then, its your turn! The first piece will be a simple bowl, then we take a break with cookies and coffee. After, you'll get back on the wheel and create your second piece which could be another bowl, a mug, a plate, a hanging planter, etc. Don't worry, your teacher will be with you, and encouraging you, every step of the way! Before you leave, you'll pick your colors, and we will handle the rest from there. Your pottery will be all finished in about 3-4 weeks. Let us know if you aren't local, and we will make arrangements to ship your pieces to you once they are all done. Shipping costs will be covered by you the customer. We can't wait to create with you!
