“I was staying here when the coronavirus pandemic broke out and it ended up becoming a home and sanctuary to me for much longer than I had planned. The hosts were unbelievably kind and accommodating and I couldn’t recommend this place any more. It truly is wonderful and the hosts exceptional. It made that worrying time so much more relaxing, calm and peaceful. The garden is a masterpiece of tranquility. You have to come and stay here. Trust me!”
Great comfortable apartment to stay in when visiting Guatemala! Close enough to Antigua to do some exploring and far enough to relax and get cozy!
“When I first booked the apartment, I was really looking for something close to Antigua, because I thought we'd be spending a lot of time down there and Chimaltenango is only a 25 minute drive in traffic. When we arrived, we were welcomed by Patty, who speaks only Spanish, but is so very hospitable. She took us through the entire apartment and showed us where everything was and how everything worked. We spent two weeks there over Christmas and into the first week of January of the new year. What we expected versus what we received fully exceeded our expectations. There is a tienda, tortilleria, and carneceria right across the street. Practically anything you need, you can find at any of those places. There are a lot of street food vendors in the neighborhood and the area is very safe to walk around. We left our vehicle out on the street and nobody ever touched it, but just in case, and for the comfort of guests, there is a gated area to keep your vehicle, if you would like. There are also street lights you can keep on and security cameras if you choose to use them. We ended up making friends with a few of the neighbors in the vicinity, who in turn took us around the entire area of Chimaltenango. We spent Christmas and New Year's Eve with families who were so happy to have us as guests. As midnight of Christmas and New Year's came around we had a feast of grand proportions and lit off so many fireworks the entire neighborhood was covered in ash. The community is so welcoming and eager to try to get to know the foreigners that they make every effort to have a conversation, whether you speak Spanish or not. This place truly made for a spectacular segue into the new year. I cannot recommend the neighborhood enough. We felt very fortunate to be able to spend the holidays making new friends and creating unforgettable experiences. We hope to return.”
Our family home is in a nice local neighborhood only 5 minutes from the La Mereced Church and 7 minutes from the famous arch. You will enjoy your stay with us. Our neighborhood is Colonia El Manchen. A lot of visitors stay in our neighborhood when visiting Anitgua because it is safe, quiet, and near the major attractions.
“Just wonderful! I loved my stay here. Ana Maria is such a great lady. To my shame I can't speak Spanish but she was so patient and full of humor and we managed to communicate well using a translation app. She puts her heart and soul into breakfast every morning - every morning it was something different (pancakes, eggy bread, french toast) and every morning it was delicious. Good coffee too and filtered water. My room was really comfortable - good bed and en-suite bathroom met all my needs (note the shower gets warmer with less water pressure). It was also quiet and peaceful and I slept so well. I liked the location - 10 min walk to the main sites but offering respite from the busy tourist center. At night I used Uber to get back (around 15Q). This is a lovely, genuine Antiguan home and such good value - please book today! (Google translate) Just wonderful! I loved my stay here.
