great location, super quiet. could use more heating in the winter (bathroom & shower cold), but would totally stay again!

If you're interested in a more traditional experience, Koji and Eri's place is beautiful, authentic, clean, and comfortable. Everything is so well thought out and set up for guests, with many authentic touches like tatami floors and a sunken dining area. It was plenty spacious for our family of four. There are some things that require adjustment, like low thresholds, steep stairs, and stepping outside to access the bathroom, but they really do add to the charm. Who wants to go all the way to Japan only to stay at a place that feels like a Holiday Inn? The location is great for exploring some of Kyoto's prime areas of interest. Communication in advance and at check-in was in English and was very clear. The personal interaction at arrival (with Eri in full Kimono) was a highlight. They are very proud of this home and take amazing care of it.

We absolutely loved this space. It was exactly what we needed after an intensive first week of travel in Japan. We were looking for something similar to a Ryokan but was more private. The large tub was the main reason we booked and it absolutely did not disappoint. It brought us all the zen we needed. The host allowed us to drop our bags early as well so we could explore and come back later for check in. Thank you for this lovely space. We wish we could have stayed more nights!!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Yoshihiro was excellent with communication and very helpful. We received a lovely welcome note and basket of treats. The apartment is spacious with two tables to sit at and a kotatsu which my adult children loved. The kitchen has everything you need although we ate out as there are many restaurants to choose from. There is a nice Nepalese / Indian restaurant close by. There are stairs up to the property and inside, which everywhere in Japan tend to be steeper than the UK. The apartment was clean and tidy and had different towels available, the bedding, (December) was very cosy. The area around is modern with excellent pavements and there are several rail stations close by, JR Shin-Osaka is around a 15 minute walk and we used another closer station about 5 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again if we came to the Osaka area.

It was a fantastic experience and wonderful stay with my family in Kyoto. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Kyoto. Nice host, ideal location, peaceful place

Loved our stay at Mio’s place. The apartment was a lot bigger than we expected and was extremely comfortable. The heating was great and the kitchen was well equipped. We stayed here with our baby and Mio left some toys for him to play with, which we really appreciated. Its a short walk to the train station yet out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Theres also a 7/11 across the road and the coffee shop around the corner is incredible. Thanks Mio for such a lovely stay.

We are very memorable in this house, clean, comfortable and can feel the traditional Japanese atmosphere like tatami and sleep on futon. The location of the house is very close to Arashiyama Station. We are very grateful to Yamano as a host, very friendly and kind, offering to pick us up from the station because it was raining. Giving us delicious snacks and post cards. Very memorable in our hearts for the kindness of Yamano and family.

I had a relaxing time in a very calm environment.I remember watching the sunrise at night at BBQ and in the morning on Lake Biwa in front of me.

The single-family home has a large and cozy space.We arrived late on the day we checked in (more than 10 pm) but didn't expect the host to be waiting for us, and for us to carry our luggage and piercing about the facilities in the house.The house is fully equipped with children's toys and books, a lot of shopping and eating information near the house, the bedroom is comfortable and equipped with charging plugs, the stairs are also equipped with a small night light for the night, and there is a non-slip carpet, and there are towels and hands in the bathroom.There is also a car space for self-driving people.Unexpectedly, there was a welcome letter, which was really sweet.Very good value for money, perfect for the size of a family, will have the opportunity to stay again and also to friends and family who intend to visit Osaka.The host couple also delivered in person when they left!

I stayed with my son and a healing staff dog for two nights at a nearby university. It seems that we were able to concentrate in a spacious and quiet environment. After all, the best part is the large cypress bath! My son also opened the windows in the morning and opened the open-air bath to warm up his body and relax before leaving. I think how many times I used this wonderful cypress bath at the time of my stay. Kyoto is still cold, but it was a great place to stay to warm up as soon as it got cold. During the test, it was great to go to Mt. Daimonji during the day, and the coffee on the edge of the sun was the best. The owner, Jinn, also welcomed us warmly and took photos of the last uniform, which was a very nice memorial. Thanks for your hospitality.I'd like it again!

Beautiful home and a great experience!

We had a wonderful and warm stay at Haruya Guesthouse. Something about this little house in a peaceful valley, their kindness as a family, is very moving and impactful. Even now back in my home country, I think of our time there. We took dinner with Harafumi and Yumi and their family one of the nights, and we highly recommend it if there is the opportunity. The food is delicious and their company very interesting and warm. It was also Hinamatsuri Festival when we were there, so we were lucky to get to meet some others from nearby villages and share in some festivities. It gave us a peek into community and life in the mountain village and this place is very special! We loved going for walks with Lily and seeing Tora enjoying her time outside. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing this magical place with us. We look forward to staying again.

Had an amazing stay! The home was beautiful, peaceful, and in a fantastic location—close to everything yet quiet enough to relax. The host was incredibly responsive and provided great suggestions about the neighborhood. Would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Jess is a very caring dan pleasant to communicate with. the house location and ammenities has everything as promised. great home for kids. lots of toys. short walk to 2 stations. a very delicious and cheap restaurant next to the station. overall a very enjoyable stay for us as a family.

No complaints about Keiji-san's place, very clean and well located in relation to public transport. The host welcomed us on site to give us the instructions, very clear, and we also returned the keys in person at checkout. We only spent one night in transit but could have spent more time there without any hassle.

We enjoyed our stay at Megumi’s :) Definitely our favourite accomodation during our 3 weeks in Japan! The house had everything we needed and more including a full kitchen, heaters, plenty of storage space, Netflix etc. It has a very homey, cozy feel. We felt very at home. Location is great, with the train station just around the corner. Convenience stores within walking distance and plenty of restaurants. Walkable distance to Namba, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, or a very short train ride. Megumi communicates quickly and effectively. We truly appreciated having her as our host. Just be aware stairs to bedroom are extremely steep and may be unsuitable for elderly or physically impaired people.

We stayed three weeks in Hiroe's house and it was wonderful. Hiroe is a fantastic host. I have been visiting Kyoto for forty years, staying in various places but this was the best. I hope to be able to return in the future and I highly recommend Hiroe's house, a very quiet place not far from public transport and the supermarket. Thanks Hiroe!

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Osaka! This apartment is perfectly located near Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, and Namba—ideal for exploring all the exciting sights, shopping, and delicious food the city has to offer. The room itself was comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. The host was friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I felt truly at home and will definitely be back next time I’m in Osaka. Highly recommend!

Feel the best traditional house in Kyoto, exactly the same as the photos.The warm air conditioning in the room was turned on when we arrived, and it was very comfortable to enter the room.The mattresses and quilts were comfortable, and having a heated blanket was not cold in the winter.Convenient transportation, exit is the 81 bus, and the transportation hub is basically within walking distance.I would like to stay here next time I go to Kyoto.

The house is in a quiet neighborhood not too far from the train station and has all the amenities you need and a combini nearby. The stairs are narrow and steep though so I suggest keeping that in mind and leaving your luggage on the main floor. The beds are ample and if its sunny I recommend drying your clothes on the balcony instead of the dryer. (like other dryers I encountered in Japan, they can only dry small loads at at time and it takes awhile.) This house is super spacious and has ample room for families and bigger groups.
