Incredible! This is a wonderful spot to experience some history and the perfect launching point to see all of the sights — ideal for those that want to visit Kyoto but have a little distance from some of the more chaotic neighborhoods. But, perhaps most of all, the hosts are so friendly and accommodating. Truly so grateful for the time we spent there, we’ll never forget it. Plus, special bonus: fresh baked bagels and coffee right downstairs from the connected cafe.

The Maneki Machiya staff were extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire booking process. Our unit happened to be named "Cozy" but "cozy" is the best way to describe not only the houses themselves but also the nature of staying in this quieter, calmer part of Kyoto. The rooms are laid out very smartly and charmingly; a wonderful place to come back to after a long day of temple visits and river walks.

When I lost my wallet in a Taxi they went above and beyond to help with the police to try and find it. Since I don’t speak the language they helped to call the taxi companies and police to help find it. So friendly and helpful, I can't say enough good things about the host. The space was very conveniently located and we had everything we needed within easy walkable distance during our stay. We loved the sitting room decor and comfy seating as well.

Great spot in Kyoto that is within walking distance to some nice cafes, restaurants, and sights to see. There is also lots of busses that make getting to the busy parts of town quite easy and accessible. Masahiro was very responsive and friendly. Thanks for a great stay!

This is truly a gem of an accommodation for staying in Kyoto. Tokuji renovated this old house with such love for detail, and it was the perfect stay for us. He helped us whenever we needed support and was a truly pleasant host. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful, offering a peaceful escape from the crowds. we enjoyed staying at Yoko's place in Kyoto for 1 week , it's very local buses near by and easy to get around . We were doing lots of day trip so always on the go but enjoyed this peaceful place

Makoto and his partner are wonderful hosts. He is always there in the morning to open up the curtains for the view of the japanese garden he manicures. He takes alot of pride in his job as an airbnb host, giving a excellent hand constructed map to offering suggestions if you are not sure what to do. If you are an alone traveller or even a group He is a great communication. His guest house is walking distance to the train station but also to a JR station which is a little further but doable. If you arrive at a certain time he will try and pick you up when you first arrive. He is always happy to help and loves to chat. His vegetable garden is spectactular. It was a wonderful experience and even though there were 9 guests we did not have to wait for a shower or to use the kitchen. Yet we still managed to meet people from other countries. My husband and I loved staying there. It gave us the best opportunity to explore the local areas. Thank you again.

This is a very charming stay. We loved the futons and tatami mats and the convenience of being in the outside tea room. It was very cosy and comfy. This is a very active neighbourhood , close to a market that works from the early hours in the morning, however this didn’t bother us at all, we just used the provided ear plugs and got a great night’s sleep. Thank you to Yusuke for the easiest check in and the lovely stay.

My partner and I absolutely Loved this place! the place does match the description but it really gives it an amazing charm and it felt like a real home. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. We loved getting to know Licia, Luis and some of their volunteers. We were very happy to meet the kitties (they love to play. SO CUTE) and learn more about how their rescue program works as well as how extensive their network is. overall, we had an excellent time and loved every second of our time in maneki machiya (Cozy).

The room is very beautiful. I enjoyed seeing the small courtyard outside when I woke up in the morning. The host was very👌 friendly ~ He introduced the good food and fun around in great detail!Cookies were also given away at the end of the stay. Communication in Chinese was very smooth. P.S.: The omelet rice from Qingshi is really super delicious!The boss and lady boss are also super friendly.
